Do you have a Pebble watch? There is a known issue with Samsung ROMs and the Pebble accessibility software that causes some voice prompts to be active. AFAIK, there is currently no known workaround.
Other apps that use accessibility options may also cause the issue.
I have a pebble, and am using the AOSP browser and K9 for my work email (the stock email client also talks) as workarounds...

Why she gotta be all that...she is HOT! it is s-voice like he said above.

Ahhh... sweet silence. :silly:

It is a bug in Samsung ROM that seems to be whenever any Accessibility service is enabled it turns on the TalkBack in the stock browsers. Happened to me with Light Flow, you likely have either that or some other app that has an Accessibility service.
The disappointing thing is that this bug has been around for a long time, my Google search turned up people complaining about it 1-2 years ago. On the other hand I have heard that Samsung is fixing it soon, but who knows.
My fix (other than simply not using accessibility service) as a rooted user was to go into Titanium Backup and freeze both the Samsung and Google Text-to-Speech programs. No text-to-speech = no blabbing browser.

[Q] Fix to acessibility service TTS bug

I have been looking at improving the way notifications are displayed on my S4 and there are many apps out there e.g. iphone notifications which require a service adding to the accessibility settings. The issue is when you enable a service in there then you get partial TTS throughout the phone e.g. when browsing the internet you get page loaded speech etc.
Looking around the web this is apparently a bug with Samsung firmwares although I have not been able find a work around for stopping the TTS whilst there is an accessibility service enable.
The talkback service is disabled all its settings inside are disabled and driving mode is disabled. I would rather not completely disable voice by freezing the samsung TTS when rooted as I would like to use the voice commands.
I have the same issue - and I'm mighty PO'd about it.. I'd read about it affecting a lot of people with the S3, but I was lucky enough for it not to have happened with my S3.. Unfortunately my luck didn't hold after the move to the S4, and I get the verbal notifications in the stock (Samsung) browser. I tried all sorts of combinations of turning on/off Talkback before/after enabling/disabling the accessibility services that I want enabled in the hope that it would help. It didn't. I ended up disabling the 2x TTS services entirely which was something that I really didn't want to do. (And one of them wouldn't let me disable via Application Manager - I had to freeze it with Titanium, so had to be rooted to work around the issue.
For this to be a known issue with the S3 and to have made its way onto the S4 is ridiculous.
Have you noticed it happening anywhere else, or only in the browser? Browser is the only place that I noticed it, but I didn't really give it a chance to happen elsewhere before trying a bunch of things and then reluctantly disabling TTS.

I have do this same procedure. Do you have notice that with this, the air view don't work correctly on the email and that the upper and lower windows on the stock video player and gallery don't close anymore...

I have only noticed the TTS showing up in the browser so far but I haven't really explored far with it on as it does my head in.
Some devs have raised this with samsung here:
developer.samsung.com /forum/board/thread/view.do?boardName=GeneralB&messageId=232642
This is from iPhone notifications app page from PlayStore:
*** Samsung devices users with Talkback/Keyboard/AirView issues ***
* If your device is reading aloud some of your actions, note that this is a bug in Samsung's OS occuring with any accessibility service, here is a fix : http://www.productigeeky.com/faq#1
* You can follow the progress on this bug with Samsung : http://developer.samsung.com/forum/t...ices/77/204387
Just read the thread. So pathetic on Samsungs side.

Google should revoke their license till they dont fix **** like this. Developers just cant stop supporting Samsung devices when Samsung has most of the Android device marketshare.

Forced Spam Apps?

My phone will, when using various apps I've been using for years, suddenly open the play store and redirect me to Candy Crush or Caesar's slots. I'm getting sick of this. Does anyone know why this is happening? Lookout hasn't found any viruses or anything.

Try AirPush detector and see if some app is causing it to happen.
I actually had this happen from the browser. A damn play store "pop up". Surprised the hell out of me. Was also for candy crush. I also have pop ups disabled. I noticed this happen after I defaulted play links to the store. Must somehow disable the check.
Wow these adware companies are getting even more aggressive now a days
Same issue here.
Uninstalled everything except stock Google apps and same thing happening with pop up (candy crush), so I guess whatever is installed can't be uninstalled! Airpush or Ad detector software can't find the culprit either.
This is a huge security issue..... Reporting to Google
Browsers do it too... Doesn't have to be an app. It's a redirect "popup" avoiding standard android popup detection. I found this out by getting one before I defaulted links the play store. I actually got asked one time lol. The security issue would be a redirect to an actual infested page, which the built in popup blocker does block. The problem lies in the call of playstore only through playlink, which really can't cause harm being it can only show you the app, nothing further. Would be nice if fixed... Simply set to ignore non user clicked playlink pushes and implement a touch check.

I thought it was the browser I was using (Next), but problem persists across chrome and boat so I think it's some stealth junk installed in my system.
Google needs to find a fix for this, especially when airpush and ad detector apps can't resolve.
It isn't any stealth junk. Its browsing. Http. Port 80. The interwebs. Ect. Ect. It is not an app. It is not a service. Hence airpush or ad detectors will not detect it. Simply a link.

OK Google fails to launch apps?

Everything I tried to voice summon Google Now and tell it to launch an app, it will process my command and show a little loading icon. However, that's all it does and the app never launches.
Has this been a problem for anyone else? I've tried launching Pandora and calculator, both to no avail
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Just tried it. No issue at all.
Just tried and launched my Calculator app with no problem.
To clarify, the problem seems to only happen when the screen is locked. So I Simon a locked device via voice, then say "launch calculator app." Half the time it will tell me "actually, I can't do that. To continue, please unlock your device," while other times it just gets sick on the loading icon. Keep in mind that I have trusted voice activated under my Google settings. I don't know why it's not working.
When the device is unlocked, everything works fine.

It worked for me at first as well, but now it isn't. Very strange indeed.
Anyone else having troubles? This is annoying because I like launching Pandora via voice when the phone is charging and I'm across the room

Yes have the same issue. Also the amount of time it gives you respond when using voice commands is horrible sometimes...
Try using OK Google to do a web search first and then as soon as it's done doing your search ask it to open an app. That works for me.

This works because the web search triggers the phone to unlock with your trusted voice first. It's a work around but not a solution to the problem.
And yeah the response time to the voice trigger is pretty crummy.
Anyone know how to get this problem reported to the appropriate people?

I'm in the same boat, 'Ok Google' is quite unreliable from the lock screen (even with Always On and Voice Smart Lock). More times than not, it fails to perform any of the requested actions. Interestingly, the workaround mentioned above does work. My HTC One M8 was able to accurately activate with screen off without a problem....
I am having the same problem with not being able to open apps from locked screen, how can we report this as an issue?

Google Voice typing doesn't pause the music

I initially noticed this on my Galaxy s6 a few weeks ago after an update. Google Voice typing stopped pausing the music player if I used the voice option to dictate a text message. It used to stop the music and continue after I was finished. Now it'll play the music in the background and it's making it hard to dictate because it will also pick up on the lyrics from the song. At first I thought my S6 was just going crazy and a factory reset would probably fix it but I just got the S8 and I am facing the same issue. Any advice?
Thanks!
Hmm... mine pauses anytime it's listening to a voice command. Never tried to text with it though.
I bet that makes for some really interesting conversations.
It does stop the music if I use the "Ok Google " command to use the assistant but it doesn't do it if I'm using it to dictate a text message.
Just did a test.....it works fine in version 6.12.25.21 which is the one that comes pre-installed on the s8. however when you update to the latest version in the play store you get the problem. i've downgraded back to the older version for now. anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm having the same problem. This is when you activate voice within the google keyboard right? What app did you downgrade?
Well, I use the Samsung keyboard but yes, it's when you activate the voice option on the keyboard. I did try it with the Google keyboard but was getting the same problem too. The app that I downgraded was "Google". Just go into the playstore, type Google, "uninstall" the app and it should bring you back down to the version that came pre-installed with the phone. And then uncheck auto-update in the right top corner of the app screen in the playstore. That should fix it for now. Let me know if it works!

I was able to uninstall updates for the google app and yea, I was able to fix the problem. Partially. It pauses the music now when voice is activated. But when I send the message, music will not resume. Does this happen to you?
Same problem with LG G5
I have had the same issue for the past couple of weeks. When using the Google Voice typing, all media apps are no longer paused (Spotify, RocketPlayer, Podcast Addict, etc) thus Google Voice is transcribing the words coming from these media apps. I uninstalled Google App today, but then Google Voice to Text worked very poorly. Does anyone have any thoughts on solutions or workarounds? Thanks.
try installing a previous version of the google app. The galaxy s8 comes with this build standard and it works fine.
Did you guys ever find a fix for this? its driving me nuts. Im on OnePlus 3 but yeah its a new issue for me started after nougat... It seems like lots of people have the issue but are just living with it. While driving it really sucks. Used to be so easy to voice reply and pod-kicker would resume play back. Now I gotta pause first then reply voice text then hit play again ...its MADDENING. Looking for a fix. The downgrade worked for me for a short while then it just started up again. I didn't auto update google app. Tried clearing every data cache...uninstall reinstall...even different keyboards!!! same issue. Thanks guys!!!! hope we can figure it out.
The downgrade still works for me.
I have the same problem in my Oneplus 3T, I can not send voice messages while driving.
Same issue on my LG G6, BUT, for me it only does it when I'm connected to Bluetooth in my car - which is of course when you need voice recognition most. I have to manually pause the music to use it. Driving me nuts. I'm surprised they haven't released an update to fix it. I guess not a lot of people on these latest devices using voice recognition.
The downgrade still works for me but it appears it also has been fixed for me with the newest Google app update 7.3.26.21. I tried it with spotify and google music with and without bluetooth connection and it works. Stops the music then automatically resumes. Let me know if it works for you guys too.

Google Assistant/Google Now voice

Hello all!
I am facing a very annoying issue:
For questions like "what's the weather?" Google Assistant/Google Now only shows the result without saying anything.
Similar behaviour when asking "drive me home": navigation starts without any announcement.
On the contrary, Google Assistant speaks/answers normally to phrases such as: "tell me a joke".
I've already tried any solution found on the Internet with no luck (check output, clear data, uninstall google search, etc.).
I'm pretty sure it's not account-related because I'm using the same account on a Nexus 5 without any problem.
anyone in a similar situation ?
Cheers,
Tony

yep. I went through all the settings, and no joy. had to quit, if anyone found something to workaround, would be great
Same here. I have this issue after the September update
+1
When I tell "Go home" to assistant it replies me with going home or similar and opens maps
Happy to hear I'm not alone ... so to speak..
I guess, we must wait for a bugfix, then...
Cheers,
Tony
Try to delet voice model in google setting ..voice ...and then again retrain voice model ....that solved problem for me
I'm also having this issue. I've tried installing text to speech data, changed speech output to on... And factory reset. Nothing works. If anyone found a solution, do update here. Not pleased with the phone ?

Done. Nothing new!
I also have the same problem, the assistant is giving audio feedback for a lot of queries and command.
Same here. Thanks for confirming that i am not the only one.
Might be the wrong thread to point it out but "ok google" by voice still gets triggered hence the detection is turned off. Is that normal? Can anyone else confirm this? I personally hate the feature, imagine your mic is always on just to catch those two words all the time. It's not the tin foil hat thing but the resource it uses for this feature ...
Cant reproduce it. I have it disabled on both on Google options and nova launcher

LOL. This is called cheating!
Also I confirm the problem.i tried everything.
Me too
I have that problem too on my OnePlus 3T running AOSPA.
Before I had the same issue when I was running FreedomOS.
I'm pretty sure that the logcat in the following screenshots shows the reason for it.
Unfortunately I can't find anything useful about it using Google...
I also think that this problem occurs only/mostly on Chinese phones, because most of the rare Google results refer to Chinese phones.
