I know this is the wrong set of forums altogether, I was hoping somebody here might be able to point me in the right direction or offer advice as the forums related to my device are CRAP!
I purchased a wireless ip camera (tenvis ip602w), I updated to the latest firmware from the tenvis forums, after about 20 minutes the device didn’t come back up, so I cut the power and now it doesn’t work at all. It has power but it is dead. Is there a way to re flash any device over a lan port or force firmware down?
Thanks for your help if any

That only works on devices with supporting hardware. He's not talking about a smartphone. He's talking about a camera. Are you just here to raise your post count?
Try contacting the manufacturer.

thank you my friend for teaching me a valueable lesson. its called "patience is the virtue!" and "good things comes to those who wait!" your screwup is/are my textbook of secrets of life.
anyway coming to topic. yes anything is fixable even broken boards if you have proper tools and you know proper technique. you may wish to try the jtag method. if its an omap cpu then its either 14 pin or 20 pin or if you wish you may use a 2 pin tap's icepick.
this is a tedious task if your device is under warranty go to service center. else its a long and tedious process.
hope this helps.
thanks

Sorry, I haven't saw them
i suggest you take the device to the service centre and hope they give you some good news...........
How to Un-Brick Your Phone
(Method 1)
Ok so you're trying to put this really cool new custom ROM on your phone and then suddenly, your phone won't start up…well my friends, you have got yourself a bricked phone. The thing you worry about the entire time you're rooting, and flashing your phone, has now become reality. Well, fear no more, for I, CTDroidBeast have found a way to unbrick your device!
It's really easy. It's actually easier then rooting your phone, believe it or not.
Ok, you will need a new SD card, because I bet if you use the one out of your device your computer will not be able to read it. But if it does then HEY, you're in luck. You don't have to spend your money on a new SD card.
So let's get started.
Step 1: Turning Off Your Phone
Because you have a bricked phone, you can't just hold the power button. So if your phone is not already off then you're going to want to take out the battery.
Step 2: Preparing Our SD card
Take out your SD card and put it into an SD card reader or some type of other adapter so that we can view it from our computer. If you cannot view the SD card on your computer then you're going to need a new SD card.
Download DREAIMG-RC29.zip and unzip the file.
Reformat the SD card to FAT32 and copy the DREAIMG.nbh onto it.
Safely eject the SD card.
Put the SD card into your device.
Step 3: Wipe The Phone
Hold home and press the power button.
When you see the image of an ! mark, open your keyboard and press Alt + L if you cannot see any command options.
Do a factory reset by pressing Alt + W or just using the trackball.
When the reset is done, go ahead and hold the camera button and select the reboot system now option with your trackball.
Step 4: Flashing The Phone
Once the grey screen pops up (or the white screen if your phone was rooted with JesusFreke) it will ask you to hit a button to start installing the image…press that button. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO STOP THIS PROCCESS. It will take about 8-12 minutes.
When the image has completed the installation (it will say completed), go ahead and press the green, red, and menu buttons at the same time. The phone will reboot.
And your done! Your phone is now unbricked!.
The G1 screen will hang there for a good minute or two, but be paticiant, it will boot. Now you have a choice. Try to hack your phone again, because you're in the correct state to have another go, or, you can stick with the official Android. Now if you choose to stick with the official Android, here's what you do.
Step 1: Upgrading to Android 1.0 RC33
Download the file signed-PLAT-RC33-from-RC30.zip
Rename the file to update.zip and copy it to your SD card
Reboot your phone into recovery mode. Power off the phone first and then hold down the Home key while powering it back on.
The recovery mode is finished loading when you see the ! mark inside the triangle. Press Alt + L to display the list of options.
Press Alt + S to flash the file update.zip.
Wait for the update to apply. Your phone may reboot during this process so be patient.
Press Home + Back if prompted to reboot your phone.
Step 2: Upgrading to Android 1.5 CRB43
Download the file signed-kila-ota-148830.de6a94ca.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file.
Step 3: Upgrade to Android 1.5 CRC1
Download the file signed-kila-CRC1-from-CRB43-FIX.7ca4a1d7.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file.
Step 4: Upgrade to Android 1.6 DRC83
Download the file signed-kila-DRC83-from-CRC1.c41b93c1.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file. :good::good::good:

If lan is ok update the cam with the right firmware.
Otherwise ask a technican who can program the flash directly.
@other ppl
He need help for a camera and not a copy and paste tutorial for a phone!
I dunno if u can flash on your own to help the bricked device.. Just go to the manufacturer and listen what they said..
I have the same problem couple years ago n I just go to the service point nearby.. It pay some cost ofcourse.. But hey, my bricked device start again..
It suck to have generated 10 post just to tell how happy n thankfull iam for using a rom they make.

Ok.. So a friend of mine suddenly got a triangle with the exclamation mark picture on his phone. That's all it boots up to. So, he took it to T-mobile, they told him it's FUBAR, and sold him a new phone.
The fact that the thing boots to a recovery mode tells me that there's SOME way to un-FUBAR this phone. My friend is too technologically inadiquate to attempt to do any modifying, so I'm going to assume he was at whatever firmware level would hve been blasted out to T-mobile as of last Friday 01/15/2010.
If I boot the phone normally, it gives me the TriAngle. I pop open the keyboard and hit alt-L and the I get the Android System Recovery menu. at the bottom I get "E:CAn't open /cache/recovery/command"
I've spent all day bouncing around this forum, and many like it, downloaded all sorts of G1 fimwares trying to go back to RC29, RC28, 30, 33.. gah! The latest one I'm trying to update to is "signed-kila-ota-116143-prereq.TC4-RC19+RC28+RC29.zip" Which i rename to update.zip . I hit alt-L, select 'update from SD card' It goes through:
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update package....
Installation aborted.
That's it... no more log than that.
I've done the Alt-W, and Alt-S.. wiped cache partition. I think playing around with the recent firmwares might be fun, but I'd like to get this bad boy reset back to factory defaults. I've read the forums here on how to do that.. but all of the procedures fail.
I can get Windows 7 to recognize the phone, but I cannot access the sd card while it is in the phone. I've been transfering data to it by taking the sdcard out, and putting it into a known good SD card reader. I've formatted the sdcard to FAT16, and FAT32 quick and not quick.
Seriously.. why is this so complicated? Now I need some serious digging assistance. Is there an interface that will allow me to directly talk to this phone via the USB cable? How can I force an firmware onto it? Clearly something is functional, or I would get no I/O. How can I get this silly thing back to where it was? I know this thread seems like a redundant one, but as far as I can tell, its not. The typical procedures posted here don't seem to work, but I'll be happy to run through any steps y'all suggest. I'll resign that it's been bricked if that's really whats happened.. but I'm not ready to throw this unit away yet.
Ask questions.. let me answer them. I know this team can get this phone working again.
Thanks y'all.

bingo !
sounds like your friend tried to flash something he shouldn't have. or messed around with stuff he shouldn't.
as far as taking it to the store, and accepting their suggestion to "GIVE US YOUR MONEY!" that was a mistake.
the phone is likely fine, and maybe you'll buy it from him for cheap, then fix, resell/use.
good luck, should be easy.
The "press camera and power to get to bootloader" procedure. I've tried holding the Camera while pressing power over and over and all I get is the triangle. However if I press power and the "back" button (swooping arrow to the left), I'll get the bars screen, and a Gray screen telling me to press send to restore.... Which is all good, but there's no progress or any thing to indicate that i've done something by pressing the send button.(based on cell phone standards, I'm assuming "send" is the green "call" button.
Is this normal?
No yeah.. he gave me the G1.. its mine. I just need to fix the little bugger.. .. well.. then laugh at him
Ok.. one more day (well ok.. couple hours) of fiddling with this thing, and i'm begining to wonder if Microsoft was involved. I'm not able to get this poor G1 to do anything new. I tried using a different SD card, hoping perhaps the one I got with it was bad... no dice. camera + power doesn't do anything useful.
I can connect it to the PC.. but i can't see the data card that way. adb devices reads no output, so its not correctly attaching to the PC (tried Windows 7 32bit, and Windows XP 64bit).. There's gotta be a good way to force a known good image onto this silly thing.
Is it probable that the internal memory has gotten corrupt somehow? I know someone out there's got the golden suggestion, please do tell if you do. I'd really like to use this phone.
--Rob
If you can get into fast boot (the tri color screen) there are ways to flash it... try getting into your tri color, then plugging in the USB cable and see if it switches from Serial 0 to USB at the bottom, if so you are golden to flash using the fast boot method.
There are guides around on how exactly to do that, as well a couple places that you can download the official RUU that will do all the hard work for you!
gah.. nothing doing. I can hit Back and Home, and end up with the tri-color screen for about 1/5th of a second, then a gray screen saying:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Send to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
At this point, the unit is dead. I can remove the battery, and continue on my little quest.. but hitting *any* key at all (including the Send key) will not produce any sort of output. I've tried pressing Send one time, then setting the phone down for a full hour (watched a netflix show) nothing. I can't power it off either w/o removing the battery.
I would throw in the towel.. but from all the research i've been doing, it seems as if this one is behaving in a manner in which other forum users havne't posted. Maybe by continuing to try options and post results, a positive outcome will come out, and someone else who has a G1 behaving this way will have an easier time.
... or y'all can tell me that its toast and to bugger off.. ha ha.. either way.. I continue to google. If you can think of anything, please toss it out.
OH!.. tried an RUU.. found one called. RhodiumSPLRelocker Looks promising.. but can't see the device when attached to the PC... yeah.. guess the phone has to have a functioning OS before that will happen...
You would want a Dream RUU... I looked around a bit and couldn't find one. Maybe someone has a quick link?
Double check that your SD card is formatted FAT32 and see if you can get ADB to see it when on that greay screen.
I've formatted the SD card in FAT32 multiple times.. I even questioned if my Windows 7 32bit would do it, and formatted it on a laptop running XP 64bit. adb doesn't seem to see it ever.
I don't get why I can't get it into fast boot. I've been looking on ebay for dream G1s with broken screens.. heh.. I guess i'm preparing for the worst. really sad, becasue this G1 was actually pretty well taken care of. My friend didn't do anything he shouldn't. HE woke up one morning and it was like this. He lives out in the country.. so he gets pretty spotty signal. I'm wondering if T-Mobile didn't push out an update, and it got interrupted by signal loss.
By the by... I've been doing all this work w/o a SIM card. Does that matter?

see below extracted from http://theunlockr.com/2009/07/05/how-to-unroot-your-t-mobile-g1/
Load the DreaIMG.nbh File
1. Download the Original DreaIMG.nbh file:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XXSQ0T7W
2. If the file downloaded above downloads as a .Zip file, please unzip it first then put the DreamIMG.nbh file that is inside on the SD card, NOT in any folder. (If you did Section I the phone is off still, take out the memory card, put it in the MicroSD adapter and plug it into your computer to transfer the file over, since your G1 won’t turn on right now if you did Section I above. Otherwise if you did not need to do Section I above, then you can just put it on the SD card normally using the usb cable and the phone).
3. Turn the phone off if it is on.
4. Turn on the phone by holding the Camera button and the End key until the bootloader screen turns on.
5. Hit the End key to start the update. DO NOT INTERUPT THIS PROCESS.
6. Once it is done, hit the trackball to restart the phone. You now are on the stock firmware RC29

You mention that you can access fastboot by pressing the back button while turning it on, isn't that how the hero gets into fastboot? maybe your friend tried flashing a rom that was meant for the hero. if you have access to fastboot you should be able to flash a new image from there, just place the image file in the root of your card and follow the fastboot instructions
Also if fastboot isn't doing it for you have you tried adb? if you don't know what that is look it up I've seen a couple guides on how to do it and they are really detailed.

If your phone doesn’t boot into download mode and you have a black screen after flashing froyo heres how you unbrick it, it worked for me.
Step 1 – Prepare odin with the firmware u want to flash (in my case was I5800XXJPM) and get it ready to go;
Step 2 – Remove battery, SIM and SD card, next connect your galaxy 3 to the computer;
Step 3 – Hold Volume down + Power + Home button at the same time;
Step 4 – Insert the battery and wait a bit;
Step 5 – At this point Odin should have detected your SG3 ( Yellow rectangle should appear in your );
Step 6 – Click Start button in Odin and wait about 5 min.
If all goes well it should come back to life.
If You Find It Useful Click Thanks.

That's a relaxing thought!
You can skip step 3 - after reboot phone WILL go thrue download phase - this is how the bootloader is built. Just connect your phone, switch it on and after you PC Odin detected it push START - that`s it!!!

Im sorry. I dont mean to prove you or anyone wrong. Maybe i just got things wrong...
Step 2 says to remove battery.
Step 3 basically means trying to start the phone into Download Mode.
Step 4 Well, if its only me, i cant imagine Holding Volume Down+Home+Power buttons and manage to insert the battery at the same time.
NOTE: I just asked if something was possible. Not particularly in accordance to your Tut. I just asked a general question. Sorry again if i offended anyone.
EDIT: The main reason was my curiosity, if the phone could work on power from the USB. LoL
i think it powers the phone without the battery through the USB cable from PC. never tried it though but i think it works since the battery charges while plugged in usb cable (this means it has juice).
I think its starting download mode when you put in the battery :S
If you are really that curious as to whether it will enter download mode just on usb power you dont have to wait for your phone to get hard bricked, just try it.

same here bro. i too changed my motherboard from samsung service center
and i dont this one is same as the previous one
unfortunately that doesn't work for me... stupidly enough, I tried to change something in the firmware file (just the logo.png file), and then it got stuck during flashing in Odin. So even more stupidly, I disconnected the phone, and when it didn't turn off I just took out the battery, and since then it behaves as a total brick, and doesn't even show any sign of life when I try to turn it on, or when I try the above mentioned methods (Odin doesn't detect anything).
Any other ideas, or things that I may have done wrong trying to revive it? and do you think that the JIG method could work?
thanks

Going Bald here. I have searched this forum and the more I am reading the more confused I am becoming.
After a partial update my Acer Iconia A 500 froze. I tried rebooting and it took me to the start up screen where the lock is and nothing. Frozen solid.
I got acer support and they told me to Hold the vol button while turning the power on for 3 seconds the turning the screen lock on off on off. I get a green robot with a yellow exclamation mark. I am guessing this is called bricked!
I purchased the Tablet at Best Buy in the USA and brought it home to Australia.
The Acer support wants me to send it in for repair and also says...quote "However, considering that your device has been flashed to the US firmware, there may be an issue with resetting the unit to Australian standards."
I have read about OTA and kernels Roms.... YIKES. Most say download the OTA for your tablet ( how do I know what one if I cant get into it)
Can some Guru here please explain in clear English what I should do. Where I should go. You guessed it total Newbie here. HELP
Thank you in advance
Answer from FLOATING FATMAN.....thank you
There are several things you can try.
First, on the right hand side of the device there's a little hole. This is a reset hole (but doesn't wipe RAM). Try pressing this. You might have to reset a couple of times. If that doesn't help, read further.
Next, the step they describe is to force a wipe of the device. But it depends which volume button you pressed. With the device in landscape mode, it needs to be the side of the rocker furthest from the power button. Hold both down, then when you get the text, release the (I think) power button only, and toggle the orientation lock a few times.
If THAT doesn't work, contact the user sc2k on these boards via PM and he may be able to help you recover your tablet.
Question. When you tried to update your ROM, was it with an official OTA? And did you use Clockworkmod? If you used CWM, did you use the custom one in the A500 section, or the one from the market. The one on the market WILL BRICK YOUR TABLET.
My answer
Tried the reset, tried the power button. To answer the question.. The update flashed up on the screen so I thought it was a normal update. ummm Clockworkmod???? I havent updated from the market. Didnt know you could.
I am totally lost and ignorant here. SC2K will you please help me.
Thank you
ClockworkMod is a recovery menu for rooted roms.If you have'nt rooted then no need to worry about that.Ok power off, hold the volume button down from the left side, turn on your tab while holding down the volume button until you see small text pop up in the top, left corner, press the volume button again to wipe the tab completely(total reset)the pin hole on the side of your tab does the same thing. If this doesnt work, turn off the tab and plug in the usb cable to the tab and connect to your computer, your computer will try to install the driver, you might have to search for the driver on the acer site, then after it installs, you should be able to access your sdcard. You will need to search for the update or fix,not sure what tool is used for acer.
Is there anymore help out there. I dont want to download anything until I know for sure exactly what Im doing. I hate this tablet!

OK, let's take this a step at a time. At the very least, we should be able to get the tab functioning again for you.
First, you're going to need a new ROM. I don't know what region Australia is, but at this point I don't think is really very important, so for now I suggest you flash am international ROM. We can worry about the region later.]
Download this file: http://vache-android.com/v1/download.php?fileID=75
This file is NOT encrypted in any way. Extract the update.zip from this file.
Now, you need a microSD card. Sometimes these cars have trouble reading (this often causes the yellow exclamation point), so you might want to format it first (format it to FAT filesystem, not NTFS). If possible, do this in an Android phone.
Copy the update.zip to the card. Must be in the root of the card.
Put the card into the A500, then boot into recovery (Hold down power and volume down, the one closes to the power button in landscape). Keep BOTH of these held down until you see a few lines of text in the top left of the screen. Once that is visible, release the buttons and the device should update.
At this point you should have a working tablet with an international ROM.
i had the same problem with sassybees.
i've tried to download the file but the page is locked...
I have download the update.zip full package but i just don't know which version. I'm a malaysian. Is it need a specific version for countries? I had tried the 4.010.22_COM_GEN1 and the 4.010.40_COM_GEN1 but it seems not working cause when updating, the loading bar stops about 80% and the gear animation stop rotating. The tablet restart and freeze at the android text loading screen again.
I'm so confuse about cwm or other things.. i just need a simple steps to get back to original android system.
How can i solve this problem. My acer tab is useless if it just showing android loading text forever...
The steps really don't get any simpler than the ones I've already given...
Have you tried different SD cards? I've already mentioned these are a common point of update failure.
yeah... i had tried 2 sd card... formatted wit fat system..
just wondering which version i must use? i'm searching in the dev section and found so many version.
the link u had given is somehow locked.. how can i access it?

That link works fine for me. Right click it and choose "Save As..."
As for the SD card, have you formatted it in a PC or an Android phone? Better to do the latter if you can. As for the version you need to use, what was your current ROM? There are plenty of threads in the dev section describing what the versions are...
Hi Floating Fat Man
Sorry about the delay in answering. ( Time difference).
We are having issues with the only SD card we have. ( super expensive here) We also have the Nokia N8 android phone but no where can we find how to format the SD card ( we can format the phone but not the SD card ).We managed to get it to show on the PC and we can format but to a generic format and not the FAT filesystem. I know the Nokia N8 android is a rare phone in the USA cos all the phone shops were swooning over it and saying WOW, we dont have that. So help on formatting the SD card is proving hard to come by. Do you have any suggestions. Oh we copied the file you mentioned to the root on the generic formatted SD card and again got the yellow exclamation mark which was no surprise. I know I have bricked the tablet but I will be using it as a real brick very soon as it goes out the window LOL
Acer support has suggested I send it in for repair and that may be the only option left if we cant get this SD card up and running
I thank you for your help, I certainly have learned alot so far and I have a feeling its only the tip of the iceberg.
Thanks again
Your PC should give you an option to format the card to FAT32, which is the right format. Alternatively, a link to a format tool been posted on these sections recently in one of the many threads discussing the same issues, but I don't have a link handy, sorry.
I somehow lost the backup of my premangostate after updating to mango. I'm having issues with my device overheating and I need to mail it in to AT&T. But doesn't the Mango beta technically void your warranty? If it does, I need to revert to premango in order to send it in... what should I do? I've tried everything. I downloaded a ROM but I don't know how to use it! HELP!!

It does void it. Flash UCJK2 ROM from here. Just tell them you didn't update.

Do you think you could post a step by step of what to do? I tried going through the forum you suggested but had no luck following the steps. I'm a US AT&T customer.

There isn't one for Focus but if you follow the step by step guide for Omnia 7 with the Focus Rom, you should be okay as it's exactly the same. Just use the Focus UCJK2 Rom instead of the Omnia7 one.
Here's the short version:
You will not need the "Samsung WP7 Flash Program" as it is included in the ROM (Samsung-i917-Focus-firmware-UCJK2-ATT-USA.exe).
Install Samsung Mobile USB Drivers v5.2
Put the phone in download mode. Make sure battery is at least 80% when you do.
Turn off the phone
Turn on the phone, holding down the Power + Volume UP + Camera buttons simultaneously.
When the phone turns on, release the power button.
A yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and a "download mode” message should appear.
(there are 2 ways to get out of this mode: flash a rom or remove the battery).
1. Copy "Samsung-i917-Focus-firmware-UCJK2-ATT-USA.exe" in a new folder and run it (Install). After running you will see these files:
signed_CSC_Cetus_ATT_i917ATTJK2.csc
signed_eboot_Cetus_ATT.eb0
signed_pda_Cetus_ATT.nb0
signed_phone_Cetus_ATT.bin
WP7 Downloader Ver 7.21 for All Device (Publish version).exe
WP7_Downloader_Ver_7.05_for_Retail_Device_(Product_Force_Select_MD5_X).exe
The fhash program you need to run is
WP7_Downloader_Ver_7.05_for_Retail_Device_(Product_Force_Select_MD5_X).exe
2. Run it and load in it the files in this folder (click Phone, Eboot, PDA, CSC)
3. If the port isn't green, disconnect the phone from USB and reconnect.
You should be good to go with all this.

I'll be reflashing my Rogers Samsung Focus yet again since I've been trying to change MMS settings so it will work with FIDO. Anyway, I'll be reflashing this weekend. PM me if you want some walk through steps.
[Q]Restoring backup after flashing rom
Hi,
I have a At&t samsung focus running 8107 and phone's power button started acting weird. If i press it nothing happen at first, then the slide down to power off appear. I would press back but it would shut off anyways. It wouldn't reboot right and usually took about 20 tries to boot it. I have two backups saved one mango beta and one for current version. The problem got worse (wouldn't boot at all unless on usb power) so i restored it to my current version backup. Everything worked but after a week the problem came back and the phone was dead. I decided to flash it to factory rom (had problems getting it to boot to rebuild) but I eventually got it to boot. The power button still did nothing. I updated it back to 8107 and tried to restore to my backup. I keep getting error code 801812E0. My question is do you have to use the same update path to restore a backup? I had the mango beta, refresh, then cleanup to get to 7720 Mango build. The second time around I used official update path. Do you think this is hardware related?
Thanks in advance
From your description, it sounds like your power button is getting stuck in the pressed position. "Always Pressed". Occasionally, when messing with it, it will release. Also, when plugged in, that forces it to start up.
Try cleaning around the button, or remove any cases/screen protectors that might be sticking it down. If that does not work, you might need to take apart to clean or replace the button. Only attempt if you are comfortable with that type of job, otherwise, send in for repair.
Thanks for the quick response. I will try that.
Also would the power button being stuck affect the hard reset menu and download mode? I can still access download mode but the hard reset menu disappears after about 10 seconds. The only way I can reboot the phone is to plug into USB power via computer and touch the metal springs where the battery connects with a tweezers.

Yes. If you hold the power button in Any mode, it forces a shutdown after a few seconds.
Took the phone apart and cleaned around the button. Still won't boot, is it possible the phone's drivers to communicate with the power button are bad? And any idea why my backups failed to restore after flashing the rom?

I think this has gotten off topic from the original thread. I'll send you a private message, and we can continue there. I've been around a while, so I might get into trouble keeping it going here, since I should know better.
Does anyone have a working link to download the Samsung Focus USB drivers?
All the multiupload links are down and i am stuck with a bricked phone.
Mirror or alternate link appreciated..
Thanks

Hi everyone
I have a Huawei U8800 which I can no longer boot (it gets stuck at the white Huawei screen). I can, however, access the 'pink screen' (vol+, vol-, power button) and the files when connecting it to my computer, but entering recovery mode (vol+, power button) does not seem to work.
I am an utter noob, so my approach to solve my problem would be to simply take the phone back to the shop, but first I would like to erase my personal data. Is this possible in my case, without voiding my warranty? In case it is not, could you perhaps tell me how I could go about fixing the phone myself (in such a case I would also be willing to scrap the warranty)?
Thanks a lot in advance!
PS: I have not rooted the phone or done anything like that, all I did was installing a couple of apps, so it's pretty much in its original state.
You should be able to flash one of the original roms and the phone would boot if there're no hardware problems.
The original roms were removed from the huawei website but if you search the site there were plenty links afaik.
Thanks dionero. The trouble is that I am too much of a noob to understand what exactly you mean by 'flash one of the original roms'. Could you please provide some more detail? Thanks a lot
Here is a rom with instructions on how to flash :

Thanks again! I will give it a go later on today.
Did you manage to recover the phone?
Thanks for asking! First I need to go and buy a micro SD card, as that seems to be required for the process. But I'll post an update once that's done and I've attempted the recovery. Thanks again for your time!!
Hi,
finally the micro SD card has been delivered - I'll never buy from that shop again, what long shipping times!
Anyway, I'm afraid the recovery did not work. The phone did react, said it was performing the upgrade, and it the end it even displayed the "Upgrade completed" message. Attempts to reboot, however, still don't let me get any further than the Huawei screen
One further observation I have made (even before the attempted recovery, but ever since the phone stopped booting): when the phone is switched off (which nowadays can only be accomplished by removing the battery), and I plug it into the power outlet, it immediately starts its booting attempt. When the phone was still alright, however, it would recharge its battery without trying to boot immediately. I don't know whether that's important, but maybe someone can make use of this information!?
Well, in case anyone on here has got some more suggestions as to what else I could try I would be really grateful. Thanks a lot for your time and effort, and for reading this!
How long did you wait at the Huawei screen? First start takes longer time and it should reboot multiple times. Anyway, you should try flashing one of the recoveries, 5.0.2.3 for example. You can find it in the development section. With that you should wipe cache and data, delete dalvik cache and then try to start it.
I'm on mobile so I can't give you a good tutorial, but recovery should be fairly easy to install (look for stockwell's recovery).
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
Thanks, Blefish, for your reply. I tried recovery flashing at some point along the way, and I tried it again now, this time using the version you suggested. Still I simply cannot boot into recovery mode. I can either get the "pink screen", or simply the white Huawei screen, even if I press Vol+ and the power button (I've also tried pressing them for different amounts of time, but all to no avail)
Oh, and as an answer to your question: I waited for maybe 15 minutes or so.
Sorry wrong info
1. Download a stock rom.
2. Create a folder on the SD card named "dload"
3. Copy UPDATE.APP and UPDATE_CUST.APP from stock rom archive to dload folder
4. Insert sdcart to phone
5. Switch on phone with press vol+ and vol- buttons
6. The installation will start automatically
Thanks ufukyayla, but what you're suggesting is exactly what dionero had suggested earlier, and unfortunately it did not work.
