[Q] anyone try "power saving mode"? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

ive been messing around running the "power saving mode" for the past 3 days. its supposed to underclock tbe processor, I can confirm it does not and my battery life is basically identical to "non-power saving mode". it still runs to 1890mhz and I get the same 4-4.5hrs kn screen time on a full charge. is this a big crock of BS or is it my phone? anhone else try this and have the same issues? thanks in advance

Same for me. Im trying out BatteryGuru now.

well I figured it was going to cut down the mhz like it says, but thats not the case. ill just root my phone when I get home from vacation and mess with it a little more..probably just mess with root at first to underclock&undervolt then remove the bloatware I have disabled, plus a few tbat you cant disable. all before I install any custom roms.

I've had it on since I got the phone Monday and I'm at 8 and a half battery life

whats does that mean? 8 and a half battery life. lol

All the battery saver apps are crap. Use better battery stats and learn about wake locks and how they effect your battery life. That's the only way you'll get better battery life. There is an excellent write up in the i727 forum

I dont have battery life problem, was just seeing if I can get more out of it. I installed better battery stats last night and it takes a few days for tbe readings to be accurate, so it claims. ill see if I can find that thread in the i727 section. thanks

My bad. I meant 8 1/2 hours battery life.

If you take a look at his screen, you will see that it seems his screen was on a lot more than your (around 2 times more ?) but consumes a lot less.
So it seems his battery life is realy great... but we don't know how he uses his phone.
Instead of bigging up your ego's, explain how you got that battery life, you guys are nearly as bad as the dicks that brag about quadrant scores, streamline your uselessness.

Without any usage data, the OP is useless. With light use and sporadic data, my battery level is down to 65% after 48h which I consider great. Stock KE2.

Agree useless ... need more information to give any sense.
On my not rooted, non freeze, no Juice Defender, stock KE2 (upgraded to KE7 yesterday) phone:
+1 day heavy use
+2 days medium use
+5 days light use (mainly standby)
man I am tired of this battery screenshot showing off threads..
if someone uses 3 hrs of screen awake time out of 53 hrs..its the same thing as my battery lasting one day with 6+hrs of wake time..
everyone just bull***ts 1+day battery screenshots and fills ups the forum like junk..
some1 shud moderate this..

You don't say?
make your battery last longer by simply cutting the apps off when your not using them and change loads of your settings like the screen display the weather and clock app its not hard unless your brain dead.

Surely there are plenty of other medical conditions other than brain dead that may cause the difficulty.

You should actually keep the phone in your pocket and never take it out. That'll more than triple your battery life.
To save battery life , I'd underclock dual core phones

I don't know about you guys but I thought that the first post was witty and funny! You hear people complaining all the time and pestering others about how to increase battery life. This solution is the best one for those type of people!
I thought it was funny too :good:
Well I know how to make your battery last indefinitely...
Switch it off and never switch it back on.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Also you can take a knife, and cut the processor in half to get eight cores instead of four.
Keeping it in your pocket won't do anything for your battery life........
Oh the controversy. You can please some people sometimes, but you can't please some others half the time... No wait a minute... TBC
lol
Good joke tho
I've taken your advice and kept 5 of them in my pockets all week but my battery still dies after 14hrs of use???

No ways ROMs are compared only those who r keen on battery drain will get an idea how a particular ROM is behaving.. This can help those are picky bout their ROMs with battery drain.. Will all my respect to all the developers out there.. I respect their work.
If ppl cn stick their screenshots at 75% batt pls

I used to be obssesed with battery drain. Checking, force stopping, deleting, changing roms/kernels etc...just to get it to last the day!
My solution: the obvious 'a new battery' the best 15euros i've ever spent. No more stressing over drain just enjoying my phone!

tbh i'm not concerned about batt drain as long as rom is smooth, lag free & i can use the apps that i install without fc.
At the end of the day we are using a smartphone as a mini pc with a battery. When my batt goes flat i charge it!
Is there any other thread where anyone can get a dedicated info around which ROM is how good in terms of battery performance? If there is, pls guide me there. If not, I don't understand any reason for bashing this thread.
There are tons of ROMs in Android development section - will take weeks to try them out and find a ROM suitable enough for your battery life requirements. All the ROMs in the section say "Improved Battery Life" - are they true to themselves? All the XXLSZ roms I have tried, stock or Alliance or Pristine or Ultimate - they all have been poor in battery, but very good in performance.
Battery performance may not be important for everyone - but it is for few out there. I don't see anything wrong in getting to know how its performing.
Because each device even with same name work differently. So the user need to test themself... anyway on ultimate lsz rom my 18 hours with 44% left
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
This is useless because I can have phone on standby for whole day and the battery will still be almost full.I can play one game(RR3) about two hours and battery will be empty, and another game for around four hours and maybe 30% of battery will be there. There is also different sync settings, brightness, bla bla So...

use a touchwiz rom - problem solved though it doesn't seem all that bad - considering it hasn't fully drained and you've also had a reboot of some sort which has screwed up the battery stats (random line/drop).
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4
In the latest CM nightly, I have been able to get some really impressive results with almost 2 hours of screen-on time, games, wifi, calls, SMS, etc. i have more than 13 hours and I am right now at 75% charge. I found that, since I don't use NFC, simply disabling it, then deleting it (freezing it or just turning it off doesn't work) I was able to squeeze out even more juice.
At this rate, I'm on track for two days on a single charge, which is something I never thought I'd see on CM.
Your signal stinks. Try backing off the 4g lte until you really need the extra data speed. When the phone it idle and kn voice calls you don't need 4g. So keep it on 3g. You will have a better signal and that will greatly improve your battery life.
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.

I'm using PA 3.99 currently and I really love it, I don't think it's the ROM causing bad battery life though.
