Hi folks, I'm thinking about getting the SGH-I337 (AT&T version of the s4) which from what I've heard is identical to the i9505 but flashed with a different Modem and ROM. What I was wondering was if it was possible to flash the i9505 ROM + Modem onto the SGH-I337 and essentially "convert" it to the i9505. I was wondering if anyone had more details on the hardware and if there were any issues that I'm just not seeing. I see that the ROM is not an issue. More curious about the Modem. I would like to use the phone on LTE in the UK
I'm looking for a 32GB version of the i9505 and so far, the only option I have is the SGH-I337.
Any thoughts?

Yes you can flash i9505 rom but not sure if you can flash i9505 modem. The way everybody is doing it, to insure ATT network compatibility, is to flash just the i9505 rom while keeping the ATT radio. By doing so, your device ID will switch to GT-I9505 and the SGH-I337 will be gone.
So from what I'm understanding he can flash the i9505 ROM which by he means stock firmware? So I can flash i9505 5.0.1 lollipop stock firmware on my i337? That's what I understood. Is it true?
The bootloader on the i337 may be locked so flashing the i9505 stock firmware onto the i337 may not be possible. I am just guessing here as I have the i337m which does not have a locked bootloader.

Mine is not locked, I bought it used and it was rooted already, so I installed twrp through flashify and I am using cm12. The reason I'm asking is because in sammobile there isn't any lollipop not even kitkat firmwares for my i337 model. So I wanted to know if flashing the i9505 kitkat/lollipop stock firmware on my device could be fine. If not, I can keep on using cm12.
Att never released a complete kk or LP rom. These were only available via ota updates which explains why they cannot be found on sammobile.com.

How could I update it then? I'll be stock in jellybean 4.2.2 because with no root I never received the ota update nor for kikat and not even lollipop.
The rom must be running a completely stock 4.2.2 rom, including stock recovery with no root, to install ota updates.
You could look in the general or development forum to see if anyone has made a flashable zip for the ota updates. The again, the ota updates may not work without an updated bootloader and modem which may mean locking the bootloader.

Basically, I lost my root when updating to Lollipop GPE on my regular S4. I didn't realize this before I deleted my backup (stupid idea I know).
I did find this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794879) which, from what I assume, I can just install and my phone will go back to 4.4.4 rooted but here is my problem. Since I installed Lollipop GPE rom on my phone the model number is now I9505G even though I originally didn't buy that version of my phone, so do I flash the I9505G rom (GPE) or the regular I9505?
If it helps, I'm with bell in Canada and I was installing jfltecan roms before this all occured.

Jfltecan is refered to the model: SGH-i337M. Try to reflash the stock ROM for your model via ODIN.
Hey guys,
My brother has the S4 i337 model and he's on 4.4.2
This phone is unlocked and he's using Tmobile on it.
For some reason it cannot find 4.4.4 via OTA and Kies
Is this because it's on tmobile or this model didn't get 4.4.4 yet.
Do I need to root it and flash a rom on it?
Thanks

Some models of the Samsung Galaxy S4 just didn't get the update, for instance my i337 didn't even get the 4.4.2 Kitkat update and was stuck on JellyBean. Your best bet is to just flash a 4.4.4 Rom on it. Clears out the bloated stock software.

that's really lame
So to make sure I do this the right way
I have to root the phone first
then install custom recovery
then flash rom right?
Or does the boot loader need to be unlocked?
Any rom recommendations?
I'd like for it to be stock so it's stable since my brother needs this for testing purposes

Yes correct, but if your boot loader is locked then you're going to need to download SafeStrap Recovery for locked bootloaders. Then once you have installed that, there's only very limited amount of Roms you can install because of the kernel, if you find a ROM that changes the kernel your phone won't boot. But a ROM that is fully working is called "GoldenEye ROM" its a 4.4.2 ROM but is really clean, stock, and clears out all that bloated nonsense. There's no 4.4.4 Roms for locked bootloaders yet.

thanks for this info
I'll look into it
Can a Loki Patched AT&T S4 can go to Lolipop? I have a feeling that something special needs to be done so that the old 4.2.2 bootloader is compatible like how there was a specific patch for 4.4.2 . I would like to run an international Lolipop i9505 ROM on my S4. I'm still on a custom 4.4.2 ROM and didn't know that there was even official lolipop ROMs. Thanks guys.

For sure. I'm on Loki and using CM 12.1 with my AMDL bootloader.
My brother gave me S4 I9505. It is unlocked and it is from Denmark.
I experimented with several custom ROMS. In the end I wanted to come back to stock simply for S-view functionality. I flashed stock rom via Odin. I have wiped cache and data before and after flashing.
Wifi and LTE doesn't work anymore. I am using it on Koodo LTE network and it worked before on stock and custom ROMS.
Does it make a difference if I flash a different european firmware or does it have to be from Denmark?
What's the latest firmware and modem?
Actually is there any custom rom which has stock like Sview functionality, in that case I would avoid going all stock altogether.
Appreciate your time and help!!
The only ROMs with Samsung apps are custom TouchWiz ROMs and stock TouchWiz ROMs.
To see the latest firmware for your country, check sammobile.
I didn't think the 9505 supports Koodo/Telus mobile's LTE frequencies.
The latest firmware would be located at sammobile.com.

It actually does, well it did. Anyways how do I at least get the Wifi back? I flashed 4.4.2 and then tried to update to 5.0.1 but the Update comes back with the error stating that device has been modified.
My mistake, I was thinking about the i9500 and typed i9505.
Are you able to match the csc and pda to the rom from Sammobile.com?
i have a samsung galaxy s4 that says its a gt-i9500 on the about device setting but SGH-1337 on odin , i don't know what to do so i can install a custom rom on it or if theres a way to remove the software and install it from the ground up
The phone's motherboard is from an AT&T S4 sgh-i337. It's running at least a 4.3 bootloader and the bootloader is locked which means the phone cannot run custom ROMs.

There are TouchWiz ROMs (Goldeneye for example) that can be flashed with SafeStrap after the NB1 package is flashed via Odin.
When debloated TW is actually surprisingly stable and quick.
Sorry, when I said custom ROMs, I should have stated that the phone can only run custom ROMs that are based off a Samsung ROM and installed via safestrap.
