When the ambient light changes drastically (for instance when i leave my house (dark room) and go outside (sunny and clear weather)) the light sensor brighten my display only slightly...but not enough. if i change the brightness manual to full power and then reactivate the automatic setting my display is looking good. Now when i go back to my house in a dark room the light sensor dims my display only slightly again...but once again it's not enough...my display is too bright.
What i've found out: There is a dependency between the automatic and the manual setting. The light sensor automatism only changes the brightness "one step" below or above the actual (greyed out) manual setting.
Other users in a german android forum confirm this behaviour. http://www.android-hilfe.de/sony-al...ttelklasse-mit-top-werten-59.html#post5877073
Seems like a bug.

I also notice the same problem in my SP.
The auto brightness only varies 10% above/below the set brightness level. It's very annoying! Hope for a fix soon.
Yes i also face this problem.
Light sensor is not of any use other than calling time as of now.
One more thing, Xperia SP is also having security flaw, i have successfully unlocked the phone with out PIN/Pattern when i did not know the pattern
Same problem here... I just noticed today... Do you know any workaround or we are stuck with manual brightness adjustment...???

Hey!
I have the same problem. But yesterday I have read in a German forum, that that is no bug. The auto brightness only varies 10% +/- the set brightness... So I think there won't be any fix in the future... I have downloaded a "small app" so that I can vary it faster...

This is a very useful app I am using it and found it to be the best
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDMsImNvbS52ZWxpcy5hdXRvLmJyaWdodG5lc3MiXQ..
Why not use velis or Lux?
I used them on my Nexus. Pretty useful app! (I used the pro version of Lux)
This problem i have found in all stock/stockbased Rom for XL XS XSP. it is a big Bug on all Sony devices?
YAB or Velis app is only a solution when system brightness settings activ in background. otherwise this apps without function or only work once on unlock.
The only Way to the perfect autobrightness is a Pac-man Rom, but is only available for XS. :crying:
Hello,
i have found a possible cause.
in file hw_config.sh (system/etc) i miss lines for Autobrightness at the end, as they are available in other xperia devices.
here the lines from XS:
Code:
# LMU AS3676 Configuration
dev=/sys/class/leds
echo 1,255,255,255,255,255,255 > $dev/lcd-backlight/als/curve # ALS curve for group1
echo 1,0,0,0 > $dev/lcd-backlight/als/params #[gain],[filter_up],[filter_down],[offset]
echo 1 > $dev/lcd-backlight/als/enable #Sensor on/off. 1 = on, reg 90h
in XSP it looks:
Code:
# ALS configuration
dev=/sys/bus/i2c/devices/10-0040/
echo 0x91=0x40 > $dev/debug
Can i ad lines from XS?

You´re right on that, that´s where the problem lies. I had a ray before my sp and had the same problem, although in the ray´s hwconfig the second line of echo was just all zero´s. Just changing them to 7.0.0.7 or something like that did one hell of a work. I have no idea whether you can just add those lines.
Edit:
Found the files and directories. In one of them (/sys/bus/i2c/devices/..0040/leds) I found two maps, lcd backlight 1 and 2. I think that's where one should start when you want to solve this. Goodluck

the sensor used by sony is far behind any other brand

Hi friends.... all fine?
i have a problem with my Desire hd .... a display problem... i have the AUO display
When I turn the screen (I remove him from stanndby) appears for a moment a vertical strip. Then he goes immediately away
this occurs only when the brightness of the display isn't set at minimum.. if the brightness is set to maximum or minimum it happens ...if the brightness set at minimum it will NOT happen
here is the video .. so you can look what is the problem
look the video
i have the original rom froyo 2.2 ... software 1.32 ... and i have make a format ... now i don't know what to do...
help me please... and sorry for my bad english
sorry, I can't help you with your problem, but in my opinion that looks like a hardware defect. I'd bring it in for a repair simply to prevent this issue from turning into something worse.
On another topic: to improve visibility of stuff like that, you should set your camera to manual exposure. Also, y did you film your phone, play that video on your computer and then film your computer screen?

you mean that's a hardware problem? but why it does not happen with minimum light of display?

are you sure it doesn't happen or could it be that it happens, you just can't see it (as the line would be darker or maybe some other effect that delays the backlight-on until the line already disappeared, or ...)?
Another way to eliminiate a software problem: just turn your phone off and back on, does the vertical line appear or not? (at that time there should'nt be a lot of software loaded that could mess with this)

but when i turn on the phone it happen... grrrrrrr... so it's not a software problem... it happens not when you turn on the display .... but when the cell raises the brightness...
what a pity

what do you mean by that? Does the line appear when you set the screen brightness to minimum and turn it up afterwards? (so basically slide the brightness-selector from min to max and back)

no no ... I think the problem is related to the fact that it is caused when the cell has to raise the brightness as I have set this
if I put the brightness to a minimum the display does not give that problem powering up
so i think that the brightness case the problem and not the switching on
any supportfor me please?
i think i have to go in htc/support
beacuse i have make flash... change radio... change kernel... change rom ... and the problem persist
Simply run the 1.32 RUU, then root it and do radio S-ON (IF you have it now, otherwise there's no need to do that), then unroot it.

As some of you are like me and find the auto brightness flicker annoying.
I did notice if you manually set the brightness level (display settings) the flicker stops, sadly the built in widget is really lacking in control.
I used this widget on my X10 and tried it on my Arc, it works brilliantly!

Hope you find it useful as I do.

Yep, extended controls work as well. Never bothered trying it as it wasn't free here in Sweden, but it is not that expensive either
They sure look nice though.
The Widgetsoid brightness control also seems to override the automated system.
edit: scratch this, the automatic brightness seems to have come back again...
Also, if you set it to LED flash control to 'method 2' in the global preferences, it works as a flashlight/torch.
Hi guys! In this post you can find hw_config for X8 with disabled light sensor. You can compare it to yours to find out how to disable light sensor.
Also, you can upload your hw_config here (/system/etc) and give me a chance to try it
Update: Found the possible solution!
This'll work only if you have similar light sensor.
Open /system/etc/hw_config.sh in text editor.
Search for these two (or similar) lines:
Code:
# lm3530 LMU configuration
...
...
[I][COLOR="Red"]echo 128 > /sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0036/als::avg-t # 32, 63, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096
echo i2c > /sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0036/mode # i2c, pwm, i2c_pwm, als, pwm_als, i2c_pwm_als, i2_als[/COLOR][/I]
Change echo 128 to echo 1024
Change echo i2c* to echo i2c_pwm
Save it and chmod to 777 if needed (if you edited file in Windows).
I recommend using Notepad++ for editing on PC.
I tried I could not.

Code:
echo 1 > $dev/lcd-backlight/als/enable #Sensor on/off. 1 = on, reg 90h
after Upload to /system/etc and chmod 777...then reboot
auto brightness still functional

I'm sorry,,,
I might uploaded files that I was already rewritten.
Change echo 1 to echo 0,
I succeeded to disable auto brightness!

if you are still running carbon rom (or any aosp-based rom even?), there is an option to change brightness by swiping on the statusbar. it is an elegant solution i think, no need for additional apps/widgets.
you could also set the brightness menu as a quicktile or if you really want to use a widget, i think the preinstalled slim settings offers a brightness option, too.
Thank you

The app is not closing you just sent it to work in background . Just hold the home button and you'll see the app in recents view. And change the interval of screen timeout for at least 1 min.
About battery drain change the governor of the kernel.
Install from playstore Nofrills cpu to change the governor as conservative .
You'll not notice any lag in games or apps .

I bought them for almost two months and overall satisfied with everything except one thing - push notification issue. This is apply to all apps that owner need to be notified such as LINE, WhatsApp or even Gmail. It would happen around 1-3 minutes after your phone standby. Delay could be from 5 minutes to 15 minutes and more. No "Power saving" and "Wifi sleep" enabled. This was happen a much less when I was with 4..5.2.5A rom and much more when I upgraded to 4.5.2.7A. You could see messages only if you open those app manually most of the times. It was ridiculous
Here are solutions I tried and non of them work so far.
1. Went to Security --> Permissions --> Set "LINE" / "Google Services Framework" / "Google Account Manage" as auto restart.
2. above + Went to Security --> Power Saving --> Set "LINE" available to run while idle. Two setting simultaneously and still not work.
3. above two + lock "LINE" application to work on background. Three combination still doesn't ring a bell.
4. Roll back to 4.5.2.4A / 4.5.2.2A / 4.5.2.1A and still the same. (4.5.2.5A has been merged by Meizu developer so non available for download at the time.)
5. Try install almost every Launcher, every notification apps and even "push notification fixer" (for non-root) and still the same.
Do you have any idea or recommendation for a custom rom or a custom fix for this issue?
Hi.
I have just the same issue with recently bought Meizu M2 mini: Hangouts, Skype, Gmail - no notifications.... It's really frustrating
I have never had notification problems with M2 and MX5, this is what I do:
Security App, permission, Launch. Here every app to notify. Google stuff also.
Security app, powersaving. The same
Also this apps blocked in the multitask
Settings, wifi, advanced, wifi sleep disabled
Lock the app in ram via multitasking bar, this will not let the app to turn off.
anyone find a solution to this?

I found this app that is a plugin for tasker that was initially written for the Galaxy S3, but I've tested it and it works for the S7 Edge and I'm using it for my night profile.

Why are there so many settings? How do I connect it with DO NOT DISTURB?

Set up a profile for DND and use State->Variables->Variable Value->find "Interrupt Mode" in the list of variables (or manually type %INTERRUPT)
Depending on the DND mode, the values are either ALL, PRIORITY, ALARMS, or NONE
If you want the profile to activate on any DND mode, use %INTERRUPT neq ALL
Then make your task and use the LED controller plug in and under configuration set everything to off. Then create an exit task and set all of the items under "LED Settings" to on.
The DND profile runs non stop whether I'm in DND or not

I've tried different operators. Some keep the DND profile running regardless of the state and others stay off regardless...

It seemed to be working when I tested it out. To be honest, I found those instructions on reddit. Here's how I set it up when testing:

I did eventually figure it out - i just could not get to the CORRECT notification access settings page...

I used the plug-in and just created a profile to turn off the LED during a specific time period, which is the same time period I have DND activated.
The plug-in reference in post #2 is no longer available in the Play Store. Does anyone have a copy of it they could post here, or send to me? I accidentally deleted it off my phone.
Edit: Never mind, I found it here:
