Hi friends.... all fine?
i have a problem with my Desire hd .... a display problem... i have the AUO display
When I turn the screen (I remove him from stanndby) appears for a moment a vertical strip. Then he goes immediately away
this occurs only when the brightness of the display isn't set at minimum.. if the brightness is set to maximum or minimum it happens ...if the brightness set at minimum it will NOT happen
here is the video .. so you can look what is the problem
look the video
i have the original rom froyo 2.2 ... software 1.32 ... and i have make a format ... now i don't know what to do...
help me please... and sorry for my bad english
sorry, I can't help you with your problem, but in my opinion that looks like a hardware defect. I'd bring it in for a repair simply to prevent this issue from turning into something worse.
On another topic: to improve visibility of stuff like that, you should set your camera to manual exposure. Also, y did you film your phone, play that video on your computer and then film your computer screen?
btw: here's a frozen frame showing that line:

Hello, meanwhile, thanks for the answer
i made the video with my professional camera... and the weight of the file was 143mb ... so... after the video...i have play it with my pc and i have made another video with my desire hd... so the weight is only 6mb
eheh...
you mean that's a hardware problem? but why it does not happen with minimum light of display?
Hey, no problem at all But I still thinkt that there should be a better way to compress a video
anyways:

are you sure it doesn't happen or could it be that it happens, you just can't see it (as the line would be darker or maybe some other effect that delays the backlight-on until the line already disappeared, or ...)?
Another way to eliminiate a software problem: just turn your phone off and back on, does the vertical line appear or not? (at that time there should'nt be a lot of software loaded that could mess with this)

but when i turn on the phone it happen... grrrrrrr... so it's not a software problem... it happens not when you turn on the display .... but when the cell raises the brightness...
what a pity

what do you mean by that? Does the line appear when you set the screen brightness to minimum and turn it up afterwards? (so basically slide the brightness-selector from min to max and back)

no no ... I think the problem is related to the fact that it is caused when the cell has to raise the brightness as I have set this
if I put the brightness to a minimum the display does not give that problem powering up
so i think that the brightness case the problem and not the switching on
any supportfor me please?
i think i have to go in htc/support
beacuse i have make flash... change radio... change kernel... change rom ... and the problem persist
Simply run the 1.32 RUU, then root it and do radio S-ON (IF you have it now, otherwise there's no need to do that), then unroot it.
Now your phone is completely stock and ready to be sent to HTC
Tapatalked with Tapatalk from my Desire HD using Tapatalk.

Hi,
Is it possible to have the time and missed calls/messages information when the backlight is off with Xperia? I mean just like it is on usual mobile phones like SE W850i or the others..
Otherwise, it's a bit of a burden to switch on/off the backlight just to check if I have missed calls instead of taking a second of glance to the screen..

I guess the best way would be to set the LED's to flash until noticed.. Then you will know if you have an sms or missed call.

thanks for the advice.
but is there anyone who could kindly answer the question I asked?
Dont think so - from what I understood, when you press upper button then WM61 goes to some kind of sleep mode, leaving only basic functions like mobile and some others running, saving as much power as possible. Including disabled display. If you want to see something on screen, then you have to keep it turned on, which equals increased power consumption.
I haven't got the manual to hand but surely it there is a section on power-saving/backlight settings?!?
Go to settings>system>power>advanced>On Battery Power and untick turn off device is not used for...
Beware that the screen is one of the major battery drains...

Then you are out of luck. The x1 does not do this.
Unless someone knows of/writes an app to do this.
As was said above, the best other option would be to set the 4 corner LEDs to flash indefinately till you notice them.
Or, buy a different phone.
Sadly the industry is not giving out the right info with Winmo "phones".
They are a PDA first, with a phone fitted in as a second thought. Not the other way around. So, they still lack many base features from "simpler" phones.

I'm not sure what you're looking for here -
1) Keeping the screen on but the backlight off, so that you can glance at the screen and see the time/your notifications - per your first post
2) Having a quickview screen with a big clock and your notifications, when your phone is on standby, per the post I have quoted.
3) both
I've already given you an answer for 1). For 2) have you tried using S2U2?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412418
it's both I am looking for. but as was put forward before, it looks it is not possible at the moment.
the pdas unfortunately miss some simple phone features; it will take some time to get used to it...
The answer is very easy:
If you have only one display as a PPC has, you need the backlight on to see something.
It is no problem to create the information you want with 3rd party software as WAD2 or PhoneAlarm. But then you have to keep the backlight on and this takes a lot of power.
Easier it is if you only want the screen turning on if a new sms/email/mms/appointment or other thing ist coming. If you use PhoneAlarm for example, you can give the settings to turn on the screen at this alarms. Then the screen turns on, if an alarm arrives (for a new SMS/MMS/EMail or Appointment or whatever) and you can see it. This needs power too.
With this you cannot see the time during 24 h...
What I do is to tell PhoneAlarm to give a sound for a new SMS/Email/MMS but not to turn on the screen. Then I know, when I want to turn the screen on and can see what happend.
And if I want to see the time I just turn on the screen for a short look. At the screenie you see one of the pages with WAD2 and PhoneAlarm in the top, I made for my daily use...

So is the solution not to do both things I suggested?
As of late I've noticed that when I wake up my device it'll take me to my tile homepage (or the page I was on previous), then quickly forward me to the lockscreen where I'm prompted to enter my 4 digit pin. This never happened before and I'm wondering what's causing this.
Has anybody experienced this?
Here's a video of the bug that another Omnia 7 user is experiencing:
http://www.youtube.com/user/Omnia7Samsung#p/a/u/0/isi5aKDjnws
Wow, so nobody here has experienced this issue with their Omnia 7?
Mine doesn't do that, but I can definitely see how that would be really annoying. Does the same thing happen when you wake it up with the power button?
Mine doesn't do that either..
I have no password and currently using a transparent lockscreen wallpaper.
Tried it with password and still doesn't do it...
I wonder what is causing it?
My Omnia7 doesn't show this bug, neither I use the lock code nor without.
It happens when I power on the device when it's sleeping. I went over to the Microsoft forums and met some guy from Europe who is also having the same problem. One of the mods said it could be due to the fact that there's an app running in the background. I did a factory reset and still had problems though.
I just hope the phone itself isn't at fault. I wonder if the update will fix this ....
A user in the Omnia 7 forum found the solution to this bug. Apparently if the Automatically Adjusted brightness setting is off, you'll experience the bug. If it's on, you won't have the bug.
Confirmed. Aaand It's even more annoying than I thought. It's a good thing that the brightness thingy works alright
can;t replicate it on my Omnia 7!
Thank you, fik87.
If you have an Omnia 7, could you please try to replicate the bug!
Yep, i can confirm this as well ....
can someone please explain the steps to recreate this bug?
you have to have a PIN
you have to have your screen brightness on high, medium or low
(you have an app running and then press the windows button?)
lock the screen
and press the windows button to siwth on the screen
is that right?

Have a pin, set your brightness to high or medium. Then put your device to sleep. Now wake it up, and it should flash to the page you were on previous, then take you to you to the lockscreen/wallpaper.

high and low doesnt work for me but if I set it at medium then it does flash the screen before the wallpaper.
and yet it disappears after the first two times for me
yes, after first two times it dissapears but after certain time it sometimes appears again.. strange.. Do you think its only omnia 7 problem or WM problem?
Yep I have this too, not a big issue for me, but still it should not happen.

Guys,
my "galaxy s" has problem on the screen, I noticed that it becomes more evident only in a few programs / screens.
When I take a screenshot of the screen and send it to a computer or other phone the picture is normal.
I think the image is being "generated" correctly, but not being "displayed" correctly on the screen.
As an example I posted a screenshot taken of "sound recorder app", and
immediately below is a picture that I took with a camera to show how I am
seeing the image on the screen.
If you have any idea whats happening because I dont want to have to leave at service center and whait for days without the phone.
any ideas?

Let´s digg the web and find out what´s happening.
If you find something please remember to contact me.
That's new and I doubt its software related - reflash with stock rom and if it doesn't help - send to service for replacement (or fix).
HTH
Something like this happened to my old phone (not galaxy) as it overheated
never happens to me, i think its a software issue.
I flashed it whith different roms, voodoo kernel and the result is always the same.
I dont want to believe that it's a hardware issue, but at this point I'm losing my hope.
Looks like voodoo kernel
Either that or the superamoled screen has deteriorated.
My screen has burn in of the battery clock and wifi icons. Sucks.

Is it running on the original firmware?
In some kernels (example SpeedMod K13B), there are options for color tweaking in the Recovery Menu.Try disabling those if you are using such kernels.

I think that I can't apply this kernel (SpeedMod K13B) to the brazilian model I9000B, but as "theos0o" said it didn't solved the problem.
I don't really think it's faulty screens.
It's just a weakness of (current?) AMOLED technology.
Check this out:
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news...xus-ones-screen-science-color-and-hacks.ars/3
I was looking at its screen when the colors changed and since then, it looks like the images I posted. It suddenly flicked and from that moment looks weird as you could see.
Samsung Screen Test
1) Set this image as your lock screen
2) Press power button two times to enter lock screen
3) Touch your screen (without unlocking)
http://attachments.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=862208&d=1326918591
And what does this accomplish ?
Wow.... Strange
Got some wierd lines, probably because of stretching an 364x580 picture to 800x1280
Not really noticable in screenshot, but I guess AMOLED makes those lines really noticable because they are not completely black compared to background ...

same problem ;/
I noticed this issue the first day i got it, looks like a way that it drops to 16bit or less rendering at times to increase speed. If you set the same image a you're wallpaper then it will go from ok to showing lines in blacks at random times. My guess it drops to lower rate with the cpu speed lower speeds os lower bitrates.
You also see this in the gallery flicking through images will show lower rate but once you stop on one it will get better.
This shows its a trick Samsung does to increase ui speeds, id rather have an option to turn this off and would prefer properly rendered graphics at all times even if it causes a little lower frame rate.

You are a lucky one.
Guys... Come on... Calm down. This issue again?
This is not a screen/hardware issue. As "martcerv" rightly said, this is a trick Samsung uses to increase performance/reduce battery consumption. I think Samsung discovered that using a lower bit rate on the lock screen, they could probably increase performance while reducing battery consumption.
Since the lock screen can be pulled up even accidentally inside a pocket, it should not use too much power & instead, be optimized for battery consumption. So, samsung reduced the bitrate on the lockscreen. This is why you may see banding on the lock screen with certain wallpapers. If the same image is perfect in the gallary or browser, then obviously its not a hardware issue... Relax.

is it possible to increase bit rate? cause i dont care about battery, i prefer good looking
i think i know what legion wants to show us...
i'm elaborating on screen issues at the moment, had about 10 devices for now and only 2 (!!) of them had a perfect screen which got down to 2 in gamma test without mods from supercurio and using "standard" mode. all other notes i had only went down to 4! one of the good ones "died" yesterday, since i changed my back cover one of the two units is almost as bad as the other ones were. yellow tint (was not there before!!!) although i changed NOTHING in the system config. also, after the screen got worse, voodoo louder also wants to re-initialize. as if the change of the cover damaged something...
i do not want to speculate at this time, but if this is no coincidence...
will get two other devices today and report back!
When i go on the lockscreen i see only 3 or 4 weird lines at the top of my screen. What i wonder is why the black is mot really black (display pixel light completely off) except the lines seem to be real black.
But after i touch the lockscreen but without unlocking it,.sometimes i get many more weird lines or sometimes even some of the lines go away again.
I think since this lines sometimes are there and sometimes not it should hardly be any hardware issue
What I do see though is pixel bleeding from the text, is that normal ?
So my screen has a yellow hue like many of you had (not really noticeable unless you view an all white page against something white in the background). I don't think this is a screen defect, because all screen/monitor/tv will come with a universal preset setting, but not all panels are the same, so while this setting will look good on a certain batch, it will look slightly off on another batch. So to test it out, I downloaded Filter Your Screen from Google Play to adjust the screen setting.
I use this as my setting:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

Applied the filter, and the yellow hue is gone from the screen. Sorry I don't have another camera to capture the before and after screen, but you can try it out for yourself.

works really well just tried it, its the best I have had the screen look so far. Im not worried about the yellow tint thing anymore now.
I don't like having apps running in the background, but it worked for me too. But now I will remove it
Haven't tried with this app yet, but other screenfilters introduce a bug where you can not manually install apk's anymore as they make it impossible to press the 'Install' button (very weird bug, in the installer/framework apperantly).
I'll chekc with this one as well, just something to keep in mind if you stumble upon this issue
Does seem to help for me as well, but believe this was also mentioned in combination with another screen filter app already

same for me. hard reset 2 times, nothing changed. so this is suppose to be calibration problem right? not hardware? since you could use apps to adjust the screen.
just notice that this app and screen adjuster doesn't change the color of the on screen button.
screen is not a problem. I think it will get better with the update
