Dock Not Properly Recognized? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a 32GB WiFi Nexus 7 and the official dock. The tablet is unlocked, rooted, and running Franco kernel with CM10.1.
I can't seem to get the dock to work properly. If I choose Daydream as the default dock app, it will open Daydream when I dock it. Daydream is set to only start when docked, not when charged, so this tells me it's at least partially detecting the dock. If I select Tasker as the default dock app, nothing happens. Regardless of which app is default, audio is never routed through the dock. It's routed through the tablet speaker.
This is driving me nuts, because I bought the tablet and dock to use for a car install. If I can't get the dock working, the whole project will have to be redesigned.

My dock is being detected just fine using the Franken Nexus ROM. However, I have the same audio problem just slightly different. When I dock it into the pogo dock, it says do you want to use audio through the dock? I said yes but sound is not coming otu via the dock over what I know is a working audio cable. If I say no to audio out via the dock and hook the cord up to the headphone jack, I get sound.

Yeah, I've gotten that audio prompt once, and it worked that time, but ever since, it hasn't worked. I may flash back to stock and see if it works again.

Is that version of CM10 based on jellybean 4.2? Dock requires 4.2, not 4.1.

CM 10.1 is based on 4.2.
I think part of it was the ROM. I installed Timur's USBROM, and the audio is now correctly routed. Tasker still does nothing, though. I suppose as long as the audio is routed properly, I can use a power trigger to activate the Tasker profile. It's not ideal, but it will work while I try to figure out how to make it work properly.

How do I get Logitech G930 headset working?

When I plug in my G930 wireless headset into my 7 all the buttons work but audio/mic doesn't.
Is there any utilities to get usb audio working on this device? are there any roms here that supports usb audio?
Current running grouper rom and trinity kernel, any help appreciated.
USB audio needs a special hardware chip that we don't have.

I'm currently running on jellybro/trinity combination and my headset works if i plug it in before booting. So the hardware must be there, we only need more control with the software.
Stock no audio/mic but controls work well.

Help! No sound through car dock with 4.2.2

I just unlocked/rooted and have been playing around with a few roms to see which I like best. One HUGE issue for me is none of the 4.2.2 roms allow audio to come through the car dock usb cable. I know google ditched the car mode in 4.2.2 and thats ok by me (lots of alternatives) but I just bought a car dock so I wouldn't have to plug multiple cables in when getting into the car.
Anyone know a workaround or any ROMS that have it working? Or, any 4.2.1 ROMS out there worth flashing?
Thanks
Andy
Can anyone confirm any 4.2.2 ROMS that have working audio through the motorola car dock? A few folks claim there are but no one will confirm exactly what ROM.

I take back what I said. These were guys talking about their stock ROMs on the HD. However this was just posted a few days ago: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/restore-car-dock-mode-on-android-4-2/
Thanks for the link but this just enables the car dock trigger to be activated and allows the home key to bind to the car dock home screen when pressed. I have had no problem with a 4.2.2 rom and a market car dock app being triggered when placed in the car dock. Once in the car dock though the audio does not flow through the usb cable (special cable that is split on the charging end with a headphone jack so only one cable goes into the dock)
The audio through usb car dock issue is a little deeper.
I will keep searching but thanks for your efforts.
Tried the new beanstalk but still a no go for sound through the dock. Phone kind of freezes when you try to play something while docked too like most cm 10.1 ROMs.
Silk hoping someone figures this out.

TC: Does this cable setup you have work on the stock ROM? I know mt Razr M car dock came with a normal USB cable and a separate headphone cable. I was under the impression that the Razr M did not allow audio over USB like some of the other models do.
Could be wrong, just want to see what's going on here it it is capable.

Yes, it works on stock ROM as well as CleanRom. The cable that came with my dock (some docks don't come with it) has on one end the micro usb and on the other a regular sized USB and a headphone female split off of it. It is really convenient because then you just dock the phone and both are connected.

Still searching for a 4.2 ROM with working car dock audio. Tried a few that some said had it working (BeanStalk, CM official nightlies) as well as most others.
Come on, someone has to have fixed this. Can anyone confirm any 4.2 or later roms that have fixed this?
I heard it's been fixed on some other 4.2 phones (s3 I think...)
Basically Google removed the code from the kernel, so a new kernel would be required to fix it.

I haven't seen any or personally tried any. However, I was just looking through the thread about the XPosed Framework modules. There's a module in there that is for allowing car dock on 4.2.2. I don't know if it works, but it never hurts to try. You'll need to install the Xposed Framework installer app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 . Then use the modules from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327541 .
If it works, come back and let us know.

Don't think that is going to do it as I have no problems with Car Dock Mode being enabled (the phone recognizing it is in a dock). I will try it if I get the time though.

Ah, gotcha. I didn't read too much into what the module actually did.

Any Rom's past 4.1 with Dock Audio Working?

Just Checking back in to see if anyone has found a ROM past 4.1 that has working Dock Audio through the USB cable? I am still stuck on CleanRom 4.1 because I love the convenience of docking in my car without having to plug anything else in. Would love to move up to a more current ROM but haven't found one that works and kind of getting tired of flashing.
I think there is an xposed module that provides a solution for this.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it and it only hooks the home key to return to the car app in the dock. Doesn't do anything for passing audio through the usb cable.

USB Mass Storage for Car Stereo

Just picked up the G2 a couple days ago. I've owned an Android before but never got into the rooting and rom flashing process. My problem is mostly that I used my iPhone in my car (a Kenwood head unit) for the stereo. I was able to control the music and sounds via the phone. However, the G2 doesn't work this way. Most I can get so far is the ability to select and play songs via the headunit, which with 1000+ songs is extremely inconvenient. I owned a Samsung Infuse years ago and that was able to work, but it was done by selecting USB Mass Storage I believe. I've done some research but I can't seem to find a straight answer on how to go about enabling that. Is there any way around this? It be awesome to be able to use my phone in the car.
What's the model of your car stereo? Maybe you can connect it with an AUX cable or Bluetooth, if your stereo supports it.

It's a Kenwood MP345-U. It does have an aux cable, however there is sound quality loss with that. Bluetooth I'm honestly not sure whether or not it has, I've read somewhere I can purchase a Bluetooth USB that the phone can connect to. My main concern was I was able to charge my phone before along with it pausing the music during a phone call, etc.

Since the phone can function only in media player mode (MTP), I don't think you can play it any other way than through the AUX cable. CWM recovery has the option of mounting internal storage as USB storage, but that's a highly, highly impractical solution.
You CAN do this but it is specific to CM ROMs. Probably 10.3. I don't know if its working on CM11 KitKat yet.
Its called USB Audio or something.
I'd also check out a Bluetooth solution if it would work. Then you could just plug in audio and use an NFC sticker to turn on BT and launch a music player. If you have a Verizon, you can also do wireless charging, so you can just drop your phone down on a mat and have everything just start working automatically.

There is only quality loss with anything OTHER than AUX. The AUX and only the AUX on this phone is capable of delivering 24bit audio. The downside is, well, 2 cords.
Problem Using Bluetooth
The problem with using Bluetooth is that you can't use voice commands to pick tracks to play.

I did that. I enabled MTP fix rebooted and plugged in,what I did notice is that it seems to mount for a second or 2 sometimes and then it unmounts right away. I tried it on 2 work computers also and under my computer, the LG pops up as a drive for a quick second and then it un mounts. What the heck is going on.,I have screen shots of what is happening. It always pops up on the top of the screen with SD Card Unmounted when I tap the widget to mount. Something is causing it to Unmount it appears, any ideas?Since I Rooted the phone, when i hookup the usb cable it says that i am connected as installer, could that have anything to do with it?

[Q] Does the Rii i8+ Wireless 2.4G Mini Keyboard work?

I've thought about getting the Rii i8+ Wireless 2.4G Mini Keyboard to use with the Nexus Player, my Raspberry Pi, and other android devices. Does anyone know if it works with the Nexus Player? I know that it's Bluetooth, and I suspect that the keyboard works fine, but I wonder if the trackpad works at all. I've tried pairing my old Sony NSZ-GS8 Google TV remote and the trackpad doesn't work at all nor do some of the more convenient buttons on the non-keyboard side.

I have the same question - its amazing to me that this device doesn't natively support all Android compatible devices.... Seems like that should be rather straightforward. There should be some sort of simple certification process for accessories to be Android 5.0 compatible....
If someone could check and let us know if it works I'd appreciate it.:good:
Yes. I have one and it works perfectly. It is not BT it uses a receiver dongle which you must plug in via USB OTG.
Work fine with M8S android tv box

Touch pad & keyboard works flawlessly. It uses a small dongle (like some wireless mouse), not bluetooth. One annoying thing about it is, turns off/go to standby mode after within a minute of inactivity. It is a nuisance for me, but it does save a loot of battery life. And battery life is really really good for this remote. After purchasing, I charged it only once in 4 months (I don't use is everyday though). Backlight is really good & useful too!
I would use is it as default remote for my Nexus Player, but that auto sleep mode is irritating to me. When it is in sleep mode, it takes about 3-4 seconds to get ready for action. Otherwise, its a very good remote.
I'm computer stupid but I bought this keyboard and can't for the life of me figure out how to use it with my nexus player. Can you explain it for dummies??
All you need to do is buy a USB-OTG micro USB adapter, then plug in the receiver you got into the Nexus Player with it, it is plug and play. Just switch it on.
I've just bought the Bluetooth version and the trackpad is appalling, not even useable. Do you think I would be better off with Wi-Fi version or something different? Very disappointed after the good reviews!

I was just about to buy one of these (to use with my Nexus 6).
What's the problem with the trackpad? And did you find a better keyboard to replace it with?
I bought it to use with the Nexus player I have just bought. The track pad hardly responded and was basically not useable. From looking at other peoples reviews on Amazon, this seems to be the way it is. To me it should not be sold if it doesn't work. I bought a otg cable and paired the Nexus player with the Logitech k400 plus wireless keyboard. This is so much better and the track pad works perfectly.
