Thought I'd fire off a thread to see if anyone else was having issues with BT on their x10's, this stems from an issue I was tracking originally shown by the Wiimote controller app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672884 from about page 21 onwards) where by bluetooth on the phone and effectively the controller would lock up and both would need resetting before they would work again (turning off the bluetooth on the phone would work but then not allow it to be switched back on again untill the phone was rebooted).
I then also tested the BT by trying to do a large file transfer (700mb) via BT from my laptop which was unsuccessful even after several attempts I was never able to get past about 5% (small files <10mb seemed to be ok as I've transfered photos etc accross with out issues), this however didnt result in a complete lockup of the BT it just stopped transfering after a while and would eventually time out (although i did have to unpair and reset both on one occation as the laptop started to fail transfers imediatly before even actually trying to send).
Has anyone seen similar?
Yes, I have had some BT issues, just like you I had BT crash and had to restart the phone to be able to start BT again.
If I remember right, I was just connecting my MW600 headset to the phone, and already had my macbook associated to the headset.
Playing around trying to make the headset work somehow crashed BT (forcing a restart of the phone)
And another problem i´ve had is that sometimes you are unable to reconnect the headset and having to restart BT in the phone to make it work again.
BT also crashed once when I had it connected to my car, in the middle of a conversation, again forced to restart the phone to be able to start BT.
Yeah, there are some issues to iron out...
I am finding that sometimes my DI will not connect to a headset it is already paired with even if the device. For example, my home phone has Bluetooth built into it so that my calling my cell phone makes my home phone ring. However I generally have to manually go into Settings -> Wireless & Network -> Bluetooth settings and then manually connect to that device.
Sometimes that doesn't even work and even when I click "Scan for devices" nothing happens. I have to power off my phone and then power it back on for it to work.
It is a big pain because I will be in my car and put on my Bluetooth headset and it won't work automatically. Not fun to have to restart the phone just to get Bluetooth to work.
Any thoughts?
I've used BT headsets since the Moto V710 came to VZW.
Some phones are better than others at connecting, and the Incredible seems slightly better than the Moto Droid - or maybe about the same.
Examples (and I use a few different headsets):
I answer the phone normally and decide to switch to a headset. I power on my headset and stick it on my ear. After a few seconds I hear the "connecting" noises thru the headset and the audio switches over from phone to the headset automatically.
This is what happens most of the time. Now sometimes I do this process but nothing happens. So I then press (usually long-press, depending on the particular headset) the button on the headset to "make" it connect. Sometimes, though not very often, even this doesn't work (after trying several times) - in that case I power off the headset (not the phone!) and power it back on again and repeat.
If I turn on the headset before making a call, I have close to 100% success rate for my headset connecting normally.
This is about par for the course as far as Bluetooth goes. Some phones are better than others - and the top of the line dumb phones I've used seemed to connect a little more consistently than the various smartphones I've used.
As to your issues, if your home phone BT thing doesn't have a button to help "force" the connection, then maybe just try powering off/on BT on your phone instead of powering the phone off.
Yes i have the same problems. Not unique to the Incredible though. Just about every smartphone I've had does the same BS.
The iPhone is the only phone that worked greater than 90% of the time. Wish the Incredible was better.
Thanks for your input guys.
Coming from experiences as a long time Windows Mobile user, I never had any problems with this. I think with Windows Mobile it automatically connected to whatever Bluetooth device it had already been paired with something like 98% of the time. With this phone it is honestly 50% at the best.
I want to clarify here though that it is not just it being flakey. There is definitely something that happens with the software on the phone. How I know this is that when I have this happen and it is not connecting to any Bluetooth devices, I will go into Settings and when I press the scan for devices button, nothing at all happens. Normally it would appear to be searching.
Something is definitely happening (or not happening) and I haven't narrowed it down to figure out what it is.
I use BT headset in my truck all the time. I turn on BT before I get into the truck and turn on the headset after I am in the truck. Takes a few moments to connect.
Works every time. Only real issue is lack of hands free dialing, but if I know I will be calling someone while driving, I pre-dial the number and can with a long press on the headset redial after I am driving.
Answer the phone is not an issue.
I have the same problem.
Xlink BT gateway at home, Moto H790 headset for use in the car.
My other phones auto connect (or I get a prompt on the phone asking if I want to connect based on BT Security settings on the phone).
My HTC Incredible will sometimes auto connect, but if I disconnect the H790, it doesn't auto connect to the Xlink. If I got into Settings on the INC, and select the Xlink to connect to, the INC will tell me it failed. Same if I try to reconnect the H790.
I have to power the INC off/on.
This is unlike my other phones and Blackberries. (NOTE: I didn't try my droid with the Xlink, but it seemed to connect/disconnect/reconnect fine with my H790, unlike my INC which doesn't).

Yep, KidJoe, that does sound exactly the same. Glad to see I am not crazy. If you find a solution, post it to this thread please. I'll do the same.
Same problem here.....The MyTouch I had was 100% reliable when picking up the BT when in and out of range. I think I want a MyTouch with a 4.25 inch screen.
I had the Note 3 and it interfaced very well with my 2013 Subaru Impreza stereo. The Note 4, however, will initially connect but after turning the stereo off, then back on, it will not auto reconnect. The same behavior happens when the car is turned off and on.
I must tap the stereo in the BT app to get it to reconnect and sometimes I have to turn on the phone "visibility" to get the connection to happen.
So, that means no BT phone unless I'm already listening to a BT source.
I think it is related to the newer BT stack and its low power modes.
Anyone else seen this BT behavior?
Yes, I am seeing similar behavior. My Bluetooth tends to disconnect at times, seemingly at random as well.
Also very frustrating is the fact that I can not just enter my car and have the Bluetooth auto connect. I have to open the bluetooth page and select my car from the list of devices manually. This seems primative. If there is a way to change this can someone please post it?
I've started using Tasker and it has saved my bacon. Works like a charm. I've even used it to automate turning on Slacker when I get in the car.... So, a work around...
I have no problem whatsoever while connecting to my Dodge Charger 2014 ..every time i get in the car the Note 4 auto connects... i have the viisbility timeout set to Never..
My issue today is that my bluetooth will not pair properly and remember its configurations. My initial pairing on my phone with my car's flexsmart X3 works perfect, however when I turn off my bluetooth on the phone or turn off my car and turn it back on the phone will still see the flexsmart and it will say it is paired but I get no sound. Upon further investigating I find that in the options setting that neither the call nor music tick box is checked. If I try to tick them it will think for a few seconds and then gray out and do nothing again.
I never had a problem with my note 2 or my temp replacement evo 3d remembering these settings. All I would do with those phones was pair it once and then any time I hopped in the car I would just turn onm,y phone's bluetooth and go. Now with my note 4 I have to unpair and repair the devices each and every time which is a huge pain. Once I have initially paired the bluetooth though it will stay connected without any interruptions. Also pairing for me is really fast and only takes a minute or so. My problem is that again instead of my phone remembering the current device settings that it is paired with, it will forget to associate it with calls and data after I turn the bluetooth off and then later back on even though the phone will still remember it is paired with the car bluetooth.
I have read a little bit that this is due to samsung note 4 using a newer bluetooth standard than its predecessors. Is there anyway to circumvent this issue by maybe rolling back the bluetooth drivers or something? I even thought about creating a tasker profile to help with this but still I would have to physically press the search button on the flexsmart eachtime.
First world problems I know but it gets a tad annoying having to unpair and repair my phone each and everytime I hop in my car to go somewhere if I want to listen to my music. Any and all suggestions would be great.
Also right now I am on a sprint network rooted stock 5.0.1 if that helps any
Hello there,
I have the following problem:
On my SM-T335 i paired a Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard and a Myria DC-0364BT mouse (it's very low cost but I didn't think it would matter). The thing is I can not connect both at the same time, whichever one of the 2 I turn on first will connect the other refuses to do so.
I also have a pair of Rapoo H6060 bluetooth headphones, and those seem to have little influence been using the headphones with the keyboard for some time without any problems. And it seems that the headphones and mouse do work together.
Seems to have a similar kind of behavior on my nexus 4 ... kind of works better.
Can anyone help here ?
