I use "Screen Control" by MYDIGITA, which uses the N10's accelerometer to wake up the device. Just give it a shake. It is not perfect but works well enough.

I'd also look into Tasker app. For example - I'm sure you could make it wake when headphones are inserted, etc...

Last week I changed from using "Screen Control" to a free app called "Gravity Screen Off" by Plexnor, after reading an XDA review. The reason I like Gravity Screen Off more than Screen Control is that it keeps the screen from turning when reader long text as it detects slight movements on the N10. That meant I could uninstall an app I had to used with Screen Control called "KeepScreen". Simply put, Gravity Screen Off does the job of two apps and does it better.

Power Button Click Sound

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to add sound to the power button when pressed to turn screen off on my N4 CM10.1 JB 4.2.2.
Like iPhone

In settings/sound, there is Screen lock sound. The sound is delayed just a hair after the power button is pushed and until the screen turns off.
iphone?

Need App info for Gesture lock/unlock

I need info for any app which can lock/unlock the N4 using any alternative way like gesture etc, I don't just want to press the power button every time. Seems like pressing power button too much would damage it in long run. I tried cover algorithm but it doesn't seem to work for me. I'm on stock rom without root. I'm noob too

You will need to be rooted
Check this thread out Touch Control aka Slide to Wake
Since the day i have bought N4.. I hardly remember using the power hardware button. Below are the apps i use for powering on my device and turning off the screen.
- Smart screen on
- Screen off
And for manually setting the volume, you can use Power Toggles.
Note: you do NOT need to be rooted to install all these apps.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Power Button Mod

I'm having a hard time distinguishing between the power button and the volume buttons by mere touch/feel. (I have the Verizon version). I keep pushing the power button when I want volume and vice versa. I use knock-knock a lot, but sometimes I don't want to have to go back to a home screen just to turn the display off. Anyone else share this frustration? I was thinking of buying some skateboard grip tape, cutting a tiny square, and placing it on the power button. Thoughts on a physical mod to the power button?

Putting a case on made it a lot easier to find the buttons, and hit the right one. Without a case I had to flip it over every time. I feel like the back location of the buttons is basically OK, but the Verizon design change made them really hard to find by touch. Having them recessed inside a case really does help though.

have you thought about putting a little drop of epoxy glue on the power button? it would give your finger something to feel for...

Honestly this frustrated the crud out of me at first. the TPU case does help to find the buttons in general, But after using mine for a week and a half im starting to develop muscle memory and am looking or pressing the wrong button less and less. I think a couple more weeks and it will be a non issue.

I completely agree about the home button, but you can knock knock on the status bar from anywhere to turn off (don't need to go to home screen).
Yo u can double tap the status bar to turn it off..

Ah! I didn't know about the double tap on the status bar. This phone has so many cool hidden features. Thank you. I think I'm going to try that epoxy idea too. ✌

If you have nova prime, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441027&highlight=nova shows how to re-enable the knock-knock to turn off on the screen instead of reaching for the sbar, works perfect for me.

Can also be done with Nova and Tasker if you already have it.
I've been looking for a way to lock the screen while in an app since I got the phone. The double tap in status bar will be huge.
Is there a list of all the shortcuts LG included somewhere? Doesn't make much sense to develop them and the not tell anyone about them.
I found an awesome solution for this. I've been reading a few threads about LMT launcher, so I decided to give it a try. You can get it from here. (Under settings>Set gesture input...choose #2). I setup my pie controls to swipe from the right side of the screen. In LMT settings, In PIE tab select your pie piece and then under advanced command options choose KEY and enter the number 26. Now when you press the word KEY in your pie shortcuts it'll turn off the screen. Works great!
Yea I know what you mean OP, lots of times I am just looking for the volume button and can't tell the difference.. quite annoying
I don't want to cover up the small light ring (which Verizon made smaller) so maybe epoxy glue is best idea

[Q] Double-Tap to Screen ON? (Similar to LG G2 KnockOn feature)

Is there a way to implement this?
trying to minimize the use of my home button to power my screen on
Try 'proximity screen off'. It uses the proximity sensor to turn on/off the phone.

does it cause any wakelock issues and etc?

Flashlight shortcut from lockscreen?

So I discovered this purely by accident.
I've picked up my phone at night a few times and have blasted myself in the eyes with the light of my camera. It acts light using the widget to toggle it to act like a flashlight. Thinking my phone bugging out I thought nothing about it. But after the 5th time I decided it was a built in feature.
After much trial and error, I have these results:
With your phone on and screen timed out (turned off), press volume up and power at the same time. The screen should turn on, as well as the light on your camera.
To turn off let the screen time out, or press power to turn it off. Then press volume down.
Now I do not know how it works on mine but not my wife's note 3. I'm running stock Rom rooted with no mods.
I will try and figure out how I have this working, but any insight would work too.
Does anyone else have this feature?

I know Wanam Xposed has a feature for using volume up while the screen is off to turn on the flashlight, maybe that's it.

Well we're on this topic. I'm stock rooted on mje. What's the best way for me to add the flashlight function to my phone? I miss having that feature as I've had it on the last 3 phones I've owned.

The post above yours should do the trick. If you're talking about a toggle from the notification bar, I think it is built in most custom ROMs.
