Does anyone know if there is anyway to have the USB turn on/off in CWM-based Recovery 1.0.3.5 recovery, so that your computer can see the phone sd card while you are in recovery?
I tried option mount and storage -> mount /external_sd but that doesnt make the computer see it during recovery.
Not sure if there is any other options that I am missing.
Basically I mean the following fetures I saw in CWM wiki...
mount USB storage: lets you enable USB mass storage mode for your SD card right from recovery so that you can connect it to your computer via USB and transfer any files to/from it without having to leave recovery
Thanks in advance.
I want to know also

Are you using ADB to check out your Sd Card? ADB will work when you are in recovery. You can navigate to sd and use push our pull commands to move stuff around. Is this what you are looking for?
Where is the link for downloading CWM Flashable - OUDHS CWM-based Recovery 1.0.3.5 ???
I was just on the 1.0.3.4 forum and someone mentioned .5 but I dont see it anywhere?

Read the OUDHS thread. It clearly mentions where it is.

I'm not sure about OUDHS, but Philz touch CWM (in Original development) claims it allows for it. The I337 doesn't support Mass USB storage by default so it has to be an added feature for this phone.

So this was solved by using a tool from sdcard.org to format my sdcard in a PC. Once formatted with that tool cwm started seeing correctly.
-------
I'm running 3.1 rooted
I've flashed Thor's 1.4.2 recovery.
I have two sd cards: a 2g and an 8g.
Both work when accessed on a PC and on the iconia.
Neither work in cwm so I can't flash any roms.
I have tried formatting the sdcards on two different PCs. for the 2g I tried both fat and fat32. The 8g is fat32. In every case cwm says it can't mount it.
Additionally, I can't seem to use a USB key, although that may be that i don't know how to use it.
Thanks for any help.

When in CWM and you go to install zip from sdcard do you see any folders where you choose the zip. Just wondering if it isn't mounted already. Physical sdcard is in /mnt/external_sd
and not /mnt/sdcard.

Thanks for your reply. I'm prety sure It's not mounted already.
I'm attaching a screenshot to show the exact message I get when trying to browse for a zip. I get a similar message when I go to mounts and storage and try to mount the sdcard.
im bumping this because I'm really becoming concerned that the device is defective in some way.
I'm hoping that someone can give me some guidence on what I may be doing wrong.
So, brosell, did you figure out a solution? I have the exact same problem - cannot mount sdcard in recovery and I get the exact same message.
When the system is booted normally, the internal storage mounts ok as /sdcard
EDIT:
It seems CWM treats the external sdcard as /sdcard, not the internal storage. So, to flash an update, you need to place it on an external SD card
I always get that error, and I never had to mount anything using cwm, just booted it selected the zip to flash and flash. I still don't mount anything...?
And the zip goes on the external sd not the inturn
Can't format SC Card in Window. If won't mount.
Guys,
Unfortunately SD cards for Android must be formatted by Android. If the card is not properly formatted CWM can not mount it, nor can CWM format it. The best way to get it properly formatted is to put it into an Android Phone and use its format functions. There really is no way on the Icona Tab to reformat an improperly formatted card or a new formatted card. If you don't have an Android phone borrow a friends. You will know that it is properly formatted when you see a lost files folder created on the card by the Android phone formatting process. This is a common problem that many people encounter when performing their first ROM flash. If it was formatted under windows as FAT 32 you can access it and store on it in normal operation mode. But ClockWorkMod can not mount it in recovery mode. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Can mount SD card in Recovery
I should have also mentioned last night in my post here, that my experience has been that it is much easier to flash a new custom ROM from a USB thumb drive. Flashing a custom ROM from USB seems to be less problematic than from an SDCard that appears otherwise to be good and formatted with FAT32, but CWM can't mount it. You can fast format the thumb drive on Windows to clean it off. Then copy your custom .zip ROM to be flashed on to the thumb drive from within Windows then insert it into the USB port of your Icona Tab, boot into CWM recovery (I'm assuming you know how to do that so I won't go into it here.) I forget exactly where in the CWM menu it is, it might be under the CWM advanced sub-menu but it say's something to the effect of Install zip from USB. It always works for me with no problem. The advantage is that you do all your prep work on Windows and then flash from the thumb drive which I believe has an ISO standard across all platforms and usually comes already per-formatted. This is an alternative method if you can't get your SDCard properly formatted (see my previous post in this thread for how to get it properly formatted so that it will mount under CWM.) Again, good luck!
I want to cry!!
I tried re formatting! Nothing! Cmw is not on sd card! Nothing is working! Still stuck on acer start screen! Yes i am a noob! But i read alot into this stuff b4 i do it! I wish there was someone i can have come to my house and do this for me! I have tried everything!!!!!!!!!!! So frustrated!!! Someone pls help me!!!!
in CWM recovery, there are 2 options,sd and "internal sd" i think(for me atleast). i chose the internal sd and it mounts.

thanks brosell, for the solution,
I have a 512MB SD card in the g5360, was FAT formatted. reformatting the sdcard with the tool from sdcard.org worked for me as well, afterwards it could be mounted by the stock recovery
and could install update.zip (prior to install CMW)

Ok guys, so here is the deal
The phone was rooted and Oxygen ROM installed, but it has a major problem: The USB Mass Storage DOES NOT WORK! And the android market keeps closing(Force Close).
To install another ROM, you need to put files on your internal memory(the zip with the rom), but since the USB Mass Storage does not work, it seems "impossible".
You can't download files to the phone's internal memory, it asks for and SD Card.
Already tried putting the zip on external SD Card and then using ES File Explorer move it to Phone, but a message pops up saying that the file cannot be moved.
So the question is how to install another rom, or at least fix the USB Mass Storage problem. Is it possible to use external SD Card files on Clockwork Recovery like "install zip form SD Card"?
Also the internal memory and RAM capacity are not being shown correctly.
Thanks in advance!
dude it simple , if ur usb mode i not detected then take out the memory card and use a memory card reader to put other rom zip , if u dont have card reader then put the card in some other mobile fone use it to put the files . problem solved
It does read the external SD Card, but there is no option in ClockWork Recovery to install a zip from an external SD Card...
If you have oxygen installed, then you have the custom recovery image, which definately have an option to install zip from sdcard.

Tried through ROM manager, comes up with an error
SD Card marker not found...
Error verfying extendedcommand
And when you chose "Install Zip From SD Card", it goes to phone memory, which is kinda locked, cus you can still install the oxygen rom that's in there, but cannot place new files, already tried through ES Explorer(it fails).
Any suggestions?
I have the exact same problem, a solution I read somewhere is rebooting into recovery mode, and then go to "mounts and storage". There mount sdcard and usb storage.
Didn't work for me though, it gives "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (no such file or directory)
edit: it's your lucky day, I just solved it after 3 hours of work ;D
what I did was:
- Go to recovery mode
- installed adb drivers (can't post URL because of not having 8 posts, i'll pm them if you want)
- put the cyanogenmod zip in the adb folder (for me "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools"
-opened up a command prompt and typed "adb push cgm.zip /sdcard
-then I installed from zip. phew!

I am using windows 7, micro SD, micro USB- USB cable, TWRP 2.1.3 and Acer Iconia A500 WiFi only....
I want to get rid of it, using any methods.. Thx
STEPS i used :
1) Download a ROM of your choice
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099804)
I used ACER a500 Slim 01-14-2013 (KTMDave7.zip) <-- for some reason didnt work for me in RECOVERY mode
used Acer_A500_7.014.14_041.203.01_COM_GEN1_1333444737199_8ec8b991_decrypted <-- X didnt work also DUNNO WHY or it maybe just me ???
used Lightspeed_4.8 <-- SUCCESS
2) Put the *.zip on a microSD card of your choice.
PS: usually there is no problem using your FAT ( if your micro SD CAN'T read, try another micro SD )
on my case the 1st micro SD can be read in computer, but acer iconia A500 won't read
3) Insert in your a500's microSD slot (It takes up to 32GB. My 2GB is FAT32 formatted)
4) Start up TWRP ( by holding VOL DOWN + POWER BUTTON )
PS : ENTER the recovery mode
5) WIPE Dalvik cache, wipe Cache, Wipe System
6) in "Mount Menu" Choose UNmount SYSTEM, UNmount DATA
7) back to HOME menu, choose "Install"
8) Browse to "/sdc/" <-- That's the EXTERNAL micro SDCARD folder
9) Select your zip file
10) REBOOT
11) WAIT
DONE!
apparently: Acer Iconia used almost of its update, and flashing ROM using EXTERNAL micro SDCARD

I'm failing to understand. Get rid of TWRP? Get Acer Recovery Installer, replace with stock or ClockworkMod. Its on the Play Market.
Warning: I've yet to find a CWM w/ Touch for the a500

Only. Suggestion I have is to install a rom via microsd and replace twrp with cwm with that tool. Or use adb tools.

If you're using the TWRP that my a500 has, here's what you do.
1) DOwnload a ROM of your choice (I like pjsports's 4.2.1, found in the next door a500 forum)
2) Put the *.zip on a microSD card of your choice.
3) Insert in your a500's microSD slot (It takes up to 32GB. My 8GB is FAT32 formatted, and TWRP will read it).
4) Start up TWRP
5) Go to "Mount" and check "Mount external SD" (and "System" just to be sure?)
6) Go back to main menu
7) Install
8) Browse to "/sdc/"
9) Select your zip file
10) Be sure to wipe your cache and dalvik I wiped my system folder too to be sure.

Couple of things
I'd yr ext HDD is formatted as NTFS its never gonna work. If its fat32 mount as USB storage
Flashing an Asus ROM wasn't a good move either.
You're probably best to use a flash drive and use an update zip to flash. Check the root guide in my SIG for the 3.1 full update zip.
If that doesn't work youll need to recover your tab via an EUU...its all in the guide

Acer recovery installer only works for HC roms unless you have the v8 boot loader already.
Cwm 1.7.3 is a stable touch recovery

That can't be quite right. I rooted after the Ice Cream Sandwich update and installed it there. Unless... Yep. The root guide I used installed the V8. Sorry, I was mistaken. Thanks.

Folks - Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I was trying to instal CM-10.1 on my U8800, copied the file downloaded from here on my SD card and used CWM to install. Forgot to make a backup (Noob mistake ).
The software didn't fully install and now the the problem is that while I can access both CWM Mod Recovery and the pink screen, I am unable to mound the external sd card (cannot write to ums lunfile) and neither are the drives showing up when I connect to the pc via USB in pink screen.
Very worried on how to install a rom as both internal and external sd cards are inaccessible by pc and phone respectively.
You can use adb push while cwm is running.

I'm not sure how to do that. I've just done a few google searches, not sure if I have the right results. Would you have any link/tutorial ?
If you haven't done so already, download and install the Android SDK from developer.google.com.
What you want from it is the debug driver and adb.
Then boot your device into CWM and connect it to computer, use the debug driver from the SDK.
Mount internal storage in CWM and check its mount location.
Open the folder where adb.exe is located on your computer and copy your ROM.zip to that folder.
Open a command prompt there and type "adb devices", your device should show up in the list.
Then type "adb push ROM.zip /mnt/sdcard/ROM.zip" to copy the file. (replace /mnt/sdcard if your internal storage is mounted elsewhere)
Good luck and be careful, I'm just trying to help but I'm not responsible if you do something without using some common sense.

Guys, all of a sudden CWM can't mount the sdcard. I wiped the data in order to install Vanir's ROM. I was previously on Rayglobe's. Is there anyway to come outta this? I'm desperate guys, please help me. I don't want this costly phone to become a brick! It's D802 BTW.

Sorry, correct me if my knowledge was wrong - but how u want to mount a SD-Card when the phone has no slot for it?
Hi,
Yes, you can't mount sdcard in recovery with phones without sdcard (the recovery can't mount the link to the internal memory, even if it's called sdcard), if you have an USB OTG cable you can mount your external sdcard and make backup or put into it some flashable zip's...
If you wiped data, why you want to mount your sdcard , you have your rom in the internal memory so just flash it...

Internal storage is named "sdcard", even though that doesn't make any sense. I've Nexus 4 and it shows the same thing too.

Hum... No need to mount your sdcard to flash your rom... Like I said external sdcard is if you use an USB OTG cable, it's the link for your external USB storage.
In CWM navigate to the sdcard then where you put your rom, simple...
But if you wiped your sdcard in recovery, it will be harder for sure...
Or I don't understand what you mean
So I flashed TWRP D802 ver. from Flashify, but now I can't even do a factory reset as it says that it cannot mount /data. Now I can't wipe nor can I install a zip from TWRP. Please help me.
Just flash stock. Go to general section. "Go back to stock"
