AT&T Update today....but what was it? - One (M7) General

This morning, my phone updated & I was SO excited, thinking that maybe 4.2.2 finally came.....no go, as I'm sure you all are already aware. I checked the firmware, I'm still on 1.26.501.12, Android 4.1.2 and, of course, Sense 5.0. Anyone have any insight as to what the update was?

Could be a small update before the big one roles out. Did you check the Hboot version before and after?

It seems to be an update for MediaLink but users are reporting it fixes their back and home button sensitivity.

I never noticed anything wrong with my buttons, even under a screen protector. I hate updates when nothing is wrong. They make me a little nervous.

Yep, my wife's buttons had terrible sensitivity. I got mine a month later and it was much better.
That issue was almost enough to keep me from getting the phone. Glad I didn't let that deter me.

I had to press the home & back buttons a few times to get a response. And the double press to access previous apps.....? Forget it, rarely worked.
Now they work as expected. If I didn't have unlimited data still with AT&T, I'd be long gone

Typically there are no significant differences between leaked updates and the final.
I still haven't updated to DL09, I think I'm going to sit tight until Froyo or GB.

I think if it were significantly better, they would tout that improvement in the release notes. I've not run the leaked version though so I can't provide you with a definitive answer.
Well, must be a batched release. Here in AZ I still get 'no new updates avail' when I try to OTA update.
Probably later tonight or tomorrow I guess.
Anyone able to DL it yet?
not updating till froyou is available
VZW typically does a gradual roll out, so certain groups of numbers get it first, then the next set, etc. If they just blasted it out, their OTA servers would get killed.

Updates, updates, updates. At this rate birdman's Gingerbread will be out before Froyo.
Well there are some improvements over DI01. We've been away from that release for a while, thanks to these great devs, so it's easy to forget. I figured there would be no improvements seeing as to how they need to test and DL09 came out so recently, but better safe than sorry. Hopefully someone more skilled than I will take an interest in poking around.
Me too, I'm sticking with dj05 until a major release if ever.

Perfect, I may soft brick and get a replacement because my screen has a dead pixel, and instead of gray, grays are RED. The whole screen has horrible yellow and red tinges, unless you're at 100% brightness, and it still has issues.

You can send it to Sammy for repair/replacement without having to soft brick. That issue falls under their warranty. I sent mine in last week for a similar issue. I'll get it back Wednesday (which is pretty good considering Samsung's otherwise ****ty service).

but how did mr.nightfox11 get the update if its not in public release?
Should we expect to have to use another method to retain our root with this update?

did the update fix the screen problem where if you touch and hold the screen with 2 fingers for more than 20 seconds, the screen will stop recognizing the touchs ?

There's this thing called an NDA that comes along with every prerelease, and any person who breaches said contract is opening themselves up for possible legal troubles. BE PATIENT!
most of the pre-release testers have had issues downloading the update! only a handful have been able to get it.
Could my unlocked phone work well when I update it to 2.2.2? Where can I download 2.2.2 version and instruction to update??
I'm not using AT&T network and not living in US.
Thank

Technically even a rooted stock sense phone should receive the update as the updater isn't turned off/removed. At least thats the way the Eris worked. Unless unrevoked somehow turns off the updater when it roots the phone which I'm not aware of.

Alot of the Dinc ROM developers did turn off the updater back when the Froyo OTA was announced due to annoying, constant pop-ups. At least I know that rmk40 did with Virtuous.
This just added over at Android Central:
"Just got word about how the over-the-air rollout's going to take place. The push is scheduled to start Tuesday, Aug. 16, with an initial 10,000 updates. Another 50,000 will get it on Wednesday, and everybody else on Friday."

If you made a backup of your phone right after you rooted and before you installed a custom ROM like I did then what I'm saying is if you restore this first backup then you should get the update.

ICS on P6810 wifi only model

Hi,
Great news on the roll out of ICS to the 7.7. Well some of them anyway...
So as to not loose track of any news and developments for the rest of us P6810 owners I thought it might be an idea to collect any info in a seperate thread?
Unfortunately I have none.
I have some information - If you choose to flash the 6800 f/w over your 6810 you'll soft brick it. Of course only an idiot would try this...

I was just thinking I did have some info, but you beat me to it.
I'd also suggest to any idiot that does intend to try this, to first take a nandroid backup, then, once you've confirmed you have created a soft-brick, simply use Odin to re-flash CWM and restore it. This worked for me my mate.

I have been stunned reading around that some people actually did this!
I asked samsung and no date for the wifi only, maybe end of July...
It's so difficult to erase the 3g menus?
Thanks Samsung! Couldn't have made it straightforward and easy for everyone....
Yes, it totally makes sense not to release both at the same time
End of July? fail samsung if that is the case. ffs

Totally agree with you guys, I ended up selling my 7.7 tab and pre ordered the nexus 7, I had enough of samsungs ICS promises and want the latest OS Jelly bean. I really loved the device, well built amazing screen and ooozzes quality but could not bear gingerbread any longer. Just shows great hardware doesnt make a great device, in my opinion. R.I.P Tab 7.7 I will miss you....
On the bright side ...
We wifi only owners will hopefully end up with a polished ICS version after all the issues have been ironed out of the 3G release :fingers-crossed:
Cannot belive Samsung have done this, would love to know the reasoning behind not releasing both versions at the same time. Even now its not going to be the latest version of the OS!
I think my plan is to see how it runs on ICS, and if its much better keep it for a while, until Google bring out the next version of the Nexus.
Am well and truly fed up of having to wait this long for updates!

Are you serious?
I am as ticked as anybody else here, but if it had been the other way around - if ICS was ready for the 6810 but not the 6800 - then I wouldn't want to wait while they finished up on a different device. That would be even more maddening.
It ticks us off because we are so close, but there's no reason for them not to release as they are able. And it'd be arbitrary to wait, too. When would that end? All of the tabs are relatively similar, so maybe they should hold all updates until they are all ready?
It's insanely frustrating that we are waiting so long on this when we paid so much, but I am happy for the 6800 users that they don't have to wait any longer (except for JB).

Strange to hear that it is slow as colleagues from 7500 forum are really excited with the speed of ICS update (and I believe that firmwares should be almost the same). Have you done full wipe?
Anyone else get this?
I'm one OTA behind, the incremental one that came in about a month ago never installed on my tab.
Thinking of going back to bone stock in order to OTA up to ICS and get the necessary files over to Pershoot but not going to do that if this OTA isn't really rolling out yet.

Yeah, about that--first boot left it somewhat sluggish when scrolling through homescreens & widgets, launching TouchWiz apps and responding to touches. But subsequent reboots seemed to fix that. Browsing in Google Chrome is a VAST improvement over the stock browser in 3.2.

I had checked with Pershoot on saturday and he hadn't heard from jake . . based on jake's past postings I chalk this up to someone being close to Samsung or Verizon development who's unable to share specifics but wanting to leak out a hint of info. Basically confirmation we'll get an update but still no ETA. I for one appreciate the heads up and will continue to wait it out as patiently as I can. Would love to be wrong though, and to find out that he is in fact able to send files off to pershoot. That would be fantastic.
