I was still deciding wheter to choose the adapt display mode or dynamic mode.
I like alot of saturation all the times especially when watching videos on youtube so i think im going with Dynamic.

Dynamic mode. I wish my eyes have the same saturation
Dynamic

What are thedifferences?
Dynamic. I actually like the increased saturation.

I have an Xperia X8 which is nearly completly useles in a bright daylight even on max brightness. I have an X10 aswell and it is much much better - like usable in the sunlight
I was wondering if it's a weakness of this model or maybe something damaged? (I'm running a GingerXperia v17 currently)
Yes I feel it too but you can tick ultra brightness mode in settings.

How is the visibility outside on a sunny day compared to the S2 or S3?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
It is slightly brighter than the S3. However, if you are in bright sunlight and if your phone is not on auto brightness and set to the lowest level, you will have trouble seeing the screen to set auto-brightness. The lowest brightness level seems lower than on the S3. I have run into this a few times.
Compared to my s3 its much better. Outside in the sunlight with sunglasses I can actually read my screen

I have my screen brightness at the lowest on my s3 right now and it's good if you are indoor but outdoor is terrible. Will the s4 have a better screen brightness at the lowest setting compared to the s3?
Ok cool thats the only reason I was considering the htc one. I got kinda tired of my s2 in sunlight

Hi guys, please, write here your experiences when watching videos/movies on SG4 screen. Its what you expected, or do you notice some bad disturbing issues like smearing etc.? Do you watch at night as well, any problems with display? Thanks for Yours replies in advance! I have SG2 now, I would like to know if watching movies steped up to higher level
Watching movies is just great. No smearing and the full hd screen is so beautiful (compared to a previous owned gs2 and gs3).

It's just awesome. The picture is sharp as a razor.
There's just one small glitch: when you're watching a movie with dark areas, you may see a difference in areas where pixels are pure black. I mean, you do notice when the leds are turned off. But it's not that much of an issue.

Its absolutely an amazing experience watching videos on s4 the only probl3m I've had is the black patches appear in very dark situations u can minimize it by setting ur screen mode to movie..

Thanks. Black patches, maybe because of smearing issue? Might will help use of free app Screen Adjuster - when set RBG values +5 / or set constrast value -10. Could you please try and let me know?
With the screen adjuster on smearing/ghosting/black patches whatever you wanna call it is gone but blacks look grey..

Coming from an S2, i am incredibly satisfied with the S4 screen.
The blacks look incredible and everything is razor sharp in HD. Also, the phone is very comfortable to hold since they've packed a huge 5" screen into a fairly small device.
Coming from an s1, the screen, holy f*** its gorgeous! Everytime I stick it on its dock to charge and it lights up at full brightness Its just beautiful!

Hi
Currently got an S4 and I'm looking to replace it as I use it a lot for movie watching and magazine reading and the slight yellow tint to the s4 screen really annoys me.
Seeing as the note 3 has a similar screen, but just slightly larger, can people confirm whether the note 3 suffers the same inaccurate whites/yellow tint?
Thanks!
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
I don't know what yellow tint you're talking about but my S4 didn't have it nor does my N3. I dont use adapt display and my screen mode is set to dynamic

It's when viewing whites my s4 has a decidedly warm colour to it so whites look dirty and slightly yellowy. It's a well reported characteristic of the s4 although probably didn't affect every single one.
Just want to know if the note 3 solves this by having cool whites as opposed to warm. Maybe personal preference but I much prefer a cooler display.

I have noted it but just in the movie mode, in dynamic and standard it seems a little bluer to me but it's personal opinion. But I have to say damn this is a beautiful display worth the choice of the phone by itself

That's good. As long as some of the modes have a cooler tint I'll be happy. The green/yellow tinge is just a bugbear of mine.
Thanks for the replies.

guys check if you have adaptive display selected. it adds yellow hue to reduce eye strain
Yap my note 3 has yellow tint some uper area yellowish shade...if I compare with down area of screen.there is difference in low brightness...anyway to fix?
In 4.3 the resolution of s3 worked pretty good however in kitkat it won't
Anyone got a prefect 720p resolution and dpi settings for this device as setting a 1080p resolution is just a waste of battery and processing power

The screen by itself is the biggest battery drainer of the whole device. The screen itself is 1920x1080.
If you use software to put it into 1280x720 or even lower the screen itself will still be 1920x1080.
All the 1920x1080 pixels need to be enabled, regardless of the resolution set by the software.
Ergo: has no use, to save battery. Best way to conserve battery is to leave the screen off.
