CyanogenMod is more than just Stock Android.
Still, I imagine the release of the Google Edition is great news for our devs.

By this logic, CM shouldn't develop for any Nexus or AOSP device.
Anyway, please continue discussion in the existing thread.

ICS Source Leaked!

http://phandroid.com/2011/11/14/and...ode-available-now-cm9-work-begins-right-away/
It's official! Incredibly, before the Galaxy Nexus has been released, ICS source has been released, defying nearly every android enthusiast, blogger, and journalists' predictions that it will be released after the first ICS device is unleashed. I have posted a poll asking you who you think will build the first fully-functional (notice I did NOT say bug-free) ROM based on the source? Obviously, SDK ports are not included in this poll. Since we have virtually no expectation of a TouchWiz-based ICS update from Verizon (we don't even have official GB from them, and we may never have it), I have featured AOSP devs as the main choices in this poll. Please click one of the "other" options in case I forgot to mention an AOSP dev who you think will beat everyone else to it, or in case some TouchWiz ROM builder feels froggy and wants to jump into AOSP. I look forward to seeing your opinions - vote away!
NOTE: I think most of us realistically expect jt1134 to be the first, because he's always first, but even the undefeated 2007 Patriots were finally beaten in the Super Bowl
NOTE 2: I fumbled in writing the title for this thread - I should have titled it "Official ICS Source Released" since, as an official release, it wasn't "leaked"
NOTE 3: here's a video that explains what this means to those of you who are not developers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ_fiepb2Mc per request from qbking77
Has anyone seen John Connor?
My hats are off to jt1134 but I think Ludeboy will give him a run for his money
I was just about to post this.
Can't wait to get some ICS...even though I'm due for an upgrade.
I don't believe the Source was leaked...right?

It lead me to the Google blog (not sure what but it looks official) just stating that the source was officially released. The links works for me for some reason.
Er pretty sure its officially released and not a leak. Though that certainly had no bearing on the excitement this news brings

Definitely JT. Enyo might make a port that works, but JT will be the first to make a fully-functional one.
I am not voting in the poll because I don't know the work of some of them. I predict that Enyo will put iOS and WebOS on hold for long enough to make a passable version with it, but one of the other older and more reliable devs will release a fully working rom later on.
Please add syndtr to the list as he released the "mostly" functional ICS SDK PORT
he deserves the cred

This is true, I believe I read that he is waiting for source and planned to continue development as soon as source was released.
jt already has something booting iirc from twitter
unless he posts to git, i really doubt anyone else on the fasc will get that far soon
and fwiw i have no business being included in the poll, i do nothing for aosp

Sorry about that - I was just allowing users the option of predicting a TouchWiz developer to cross over into AOSP, and you were just an example of a TouchWiz developer. I really didn't mean to offend

Only 2 votes for sbrissen? I should point out that sbrissen said he would continue developing for the Fascinate even after he gets a Galaxy Nexus

[REF]Nexus S ICS 4.0.4 ROM Hierarchy

So, I had some free time and decided to make this kind of organizational chart containing the hierarchy of ROMs for our Nexus S. You can see in the chart which ROM is based on which.
You can take a look at it here..
If you think I made some mistakes with the chart, let me know and I'll fix them.
If the mods here think such kind of thread is a waste, I don't mind it being deleted.
Thanks.

kalim is cm9's voice on the nexus s.
Yeah, as far as I know, CM Team is divided into individuals to maintain separate devices.
In this case, KalimochoAz is the only one responsible for Nexus S.
It's stated that Steve Kondik (Cyanogen) himself is a maintainer for Nexus S as well.
But I don't think he has that much time to spent for development.

Well, at first I was thinking about that.
But when I opened the thread to make sure I didn't make mistake, I think DaXmax made some changes to his ROM.
Previously, on #1 and #2, the base ROM was kong's MIUI (I remembered this one).
But since #4, I see the base is official MIUI, as stated there.

DISCUSSION ABOUT FUTURE PORTS
Hi all, as many of you should already know, Android 5.0 source code has been dumped to AOSP so coding and porting is already possible... As I'm seeing almost nothing about Lollipop to our devices, let's have this place for general chatting and speculations about the future builds!
Personally, I have some questions...
1- Are you guys excited about it or is just me?
2- Who you guys think that will be our 'hero' and port to our devices fisrt?
3- [4 DEVS] Are you considering to make a port of it?
4- What should be the major trouble in this version? (drivers, CPU, GPU, RAM, etc)

Came in here to see if there was a compile yet... We will see paranoid or cm first I'm wagering... Cm will be a few days off I'm guessing too. We have to wait for them to start most of these Roms.

Yes, I think CM will be releasing something on the start of december...
I already see some ports to Nexus devices (including 7 2012&2013), maybe someone who knows coding may port it for us as a preview or a test build, the same way that somebody tried with MIUI from Nexus 7 2013 \o/
A dev could attempt a vanilla asop build.
But I am not a dev

And yup, I'm really excited! I guess CM or PA will be the first ones to release the ROMS for our Tabs. My only worry is about the CPU (kind of outdated).

I believe on @Android-Andi too, he's the guy for the whole Tab 2 community!

So famous that many people will donate to you for making roms that you will be so rich that you can buy a institute for teaching people on how to develop roms. I know you don't do it for money. My, my. If My posts have driven them away then they are indeed too easily irritated. Yes I understand the frustration, with criticism, lack of appreciation for their work, the people who continue to ask the same questions that have already been answered many times in the same thread, etc. I respect their right to leave behind the source of the irritation if they so desire. At the same time I claim the right not to follow them to something (G+) that I find irritating. I have no real disrespect for those Devs who choose that path but I do wish they could find a way to stay active on XDA.
So, apologies all around for any offense I have given. I did not intend any. Merely expressing a wish and what might be needed for them to stay.

I'm running DU as well. It is running great. I understand why some Dev's stopped posting here. "This is broke" (with no logcat) "I want this obscure feature", "When will the next release come out?" "Can you answer a question that was answered 10 pages back?" Many Dev's have taken to G+. It's not hard to find them. But it's also not as easy as coming here and asking questions that should not be being asked of the DEV's who do this for fun. Some here simply ruin it for the rest of us.

Thats not correct,
Only the original developement has stopped (so no more CM Version will come out)
There are lots of community versions, basically fir every device is a community made version availible (mostly for older/low-end devices)
I know of CM 14.1 for Sony Xperia M, Sony Xperia Z3 and so on.
Those devices dont get official updates by cyanogenmod team, jzst from community developers.
And its possible that some community developer bring CM for Pixel devices as well.
