Nexus 7 hard bricked after battery died? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nexus 7 turned off after my battery died and I couldn't get it to turn on anymore. I've tried the power+volume buttons combo and opening the cover to unplug the battery (left it unplugged overnight) and there's still no sign of life. No download mode. No charging animation. I've already plugged it in for over 24h in total with the original charger and the top left corner always warms up but I'm not sure if it's charging.
This is not the first time it has happened but the last time it revived after I used the original charger to charge. That time, the Samsung Note2 charger warmed up the device too but when it finally turned on when I used the original charger, the battery was 0%. I would send it back for servicing but I have already rooted the device, which means the warranty is void. Is there any way to revive my device or unroot it if I couldn't get into download mode (power+vol down button doesn't work)?

why would it be bricked for simple battery dying
if you think the battery is dead get another one and see if it's solved

Your device is hibernating to prevent further damaging the battery. Plug it in... boot to bootloader... select power off using the volume keys... the tablet will now charge normally

Thanks but if you read my post, I said I've tried the button combo and it didn't work

Mmm... this isn't sounding too good, I'm afraid... if you've tried all these [REF] Nexus 7 Button Combinations... and there is no battery charger animation when you plug in - it sounds ominously like a hard-brick.
If that is indeed the case, there's not much that can be done... except, perhaps, see if you can RMA it with Google/Asus.

Help!! Nexus 10 don´t charge, don´t boot

I´m on Paranoid Android, last version. I was whaching a movie with less than 4% battery, and It powered off. Problem is that It doesn´t boot and It doesn´t charge either.
Please please Help!!!
Sorry for my english
Hopefully your up by now after letting the device charge for a while. If not I'll throw this fix out in case it's a software problem. I have no idea, but: The Nexus 7 has a similar situation of not accepting charge after the battery runs dead. Maybe the same fix will work? With the charger plugged in, hold your power/vol button combo to boot into bootloader/recovery. From there select power off. Then the tablet "should" accept charge. It's the first idea I thought of, but I thought that was an Asus problem.

The problem is that you can´t boot into bootloader/recovery. Tablet doesn´t respond. When charger plugged in, It shows icon of battery when pressing power button but it dissappears in a second....
Hold power button 15-20 seconds until it vibrates & release. If no boot then, unplug and try it. I had this problem once also. Mine finally booted when unplugged for some reason (after being on a wall charger for a couple hours). Someone told me during my ordeal to first plug into a computer for the 1st hour, then go to the wall charger. I think holding until vibrate was the key for me, or so it seemed.

It seems to be charger´s fault. I can confirm it in one hour...
Edit: It was the charger...

[Q] HELP!!!! n10 died and now wont turn on

Ok my n10 is rooted and romed with CARBON rom, no problems nothing, but today I had an email come in I looked at it set It down left the screen on a second later it just died. so I plugged it in back on it comes. later same thing almost dead checked new email, set it down screen on then death.....plugged it in again, now nothing except a flashing battery charging symbol. been charging for 10 min. tried power, power volume down, nothing....got a different cable...nothing.....my computer wont pick it up either. what do I do?????
PLEASE HELP!!!
I just had this same problem with mine; because of the strange battery issue where my battery would read 90% when it was actually empty and slow charging once it was plugged in... The resolution for me was to plug it into the charger for 5 minutes and not touch it and then try a power on.

Thanks Ill give it a go!!
Plug it in to the wall charger, not a computer. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then hold all buttons down at the same time. This should let the tablet boot now and will bring you into fastboot mode. It defaults to "Start" so just hit the power button and the tablet will boot like normal. Once you verify the tablet will boot fine, shut it down and leave it plugged into the wall charger until the tablet is charged all the way.
Dont know if it is a coincidence or not but this is the 3rd time I have heard the same story and all people were using the Carbon ROM.
Thanks guys for the feedback, definitely will be switching roms and buy the pogo charger!

Nexus 4 Died?

So i was playing a game called The room battery was at 1% but was connected to a charger and it suddenly powered off and a red light started to blink then the light disappeared and now it is connected to the charger and has no response, is my phone dead? :S i'm so nervous.
The device may not respond until it is fully charged. I think it's best if you wait until it's charged fully and see what goes from there.

Maybe it's the adapter that's broken? Try changing adapter/cable or try charging using your PC

So many threads on this. Charge your phone overnight. Not working? Rip off the back cover and disconnect and reconnect it. That's a no go? Check another thread.... Wish you luck

When I have get the red light I have to keep trying to power it on taking the charger in and out. Last time took 30 mins for it to go away of continuously trying to power on and taking charger in and out. The reason I do this is because if you leave it on charge with the red light on the phone will not charge. You can leave it over night and the red light will still be there and your phone won't be charged! It will only charge if you get the charger screen up and the red light is off.
Happens to me if don't have much battery and I try to watch something on the TV with slimport connected

plug it in, and press and hold volume up plus power for 60 seconds, then release. It should then power up automatically or press the power button again. This key combination is the equivalent of a battery pull, which is what you have to do when it gets locked up like that or battery drains too low.
none of those worked i tried it's bricked i guess

Your phone's fine. The reason it powered down even though it was plugged in is because it was at 1%, and considering you were playing a game your phone was probably expending power faster than it could charge.
When there's absolutely no power left it won't respond no matter how long you hold down the power button. Just plug it in & let it charge for a few hours don't worry.
source: this happens to everybody who uses their phone extensively at some point

It's not bricked, there are a lot of threads about it around here. You have to charge the battery, and keep trying with vol down + power, until it takes you to recovery. From there choose reboot.

you have to disconnect the battery and charge it withe external charger for an hour then reconnect your battery . i hope this help you .

Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Charging, Power ON, boot loop issue

hello,
I got Galaxy Note 3 (N9005) just two months back from Ebay. It was working perfectly since today morning I charged to 86% and unplugged it usually using 2.0 cable to charge the device but now its not powering UP, tried to unplug the battery , sim for several minutes but still the same issue
After plugging the charger again its vibrating every 3-4 seconds and showing battery with grey color and O written inside it after it a wrecked line showing at different points that's crossing the screen just like screen is damaged or OS is boot loop
Trying to power on while the charger is plugged it just show Samsung NOTE 3 screen and sometimes samsung logo gets load with blue LED continuously onn again the battery charging issue
youtube: chvRbwgT9n8 or U5B2By7fGII
but it does not show green battery any more
since its not starting up and only shows activity when its plugged in USB/Wall charger , unable to use it. is there any resolution on this most of the Note 3 users are complaining about the same issue
tried to boot it in recovery mode and restart the device from there but still no success
this issue is occurring for the last 3 hours and i am really annoyed how to resolve this issue
tried USB 3.0 as well with laptop but no success even after 30 minutes
if the battery is drained it should start with the charger plugged in but it isnt starting any more.
**Update
plugged on wall charger
started the mobile with Volume Up+ Power + Home key
erased to factory reset
wipe cache
rebooted
now its passing the samsung logo , annimation and then white Samsung Logo blinking with colors and after that again same battery showing
no custom rom installed on stock version i think its 4.2.2
Could be the battery.

If you turn it off but with charger power on, is it got charged(based on the battery animation)?.
If it's charged you could try odin back the firmware but if battery is low, then don't as it could brick your phone if it dies during flashing.
Else try to clean the usb port and 3 pins at battery compartment.
Not sure whether this is hardware of software.
Even the switch could cause such problem.

its just showing Grey Battery sign and vibrates every 3 seconds if push power button for around 7-10 seconds than samsung screen appear but that it same grey battery over and over again
not sure whether now my previous battery is dead or not
since after installed replacement battery its giving the same issue
sent for repair at a local service center, since out of warranty/ insurance
they are saying its unrepairable
The usb module on the phone is defective. Replace it.
But the phone is in dead state if not plugged in as the battery is showing 55% when installed on another set
I guess you're having this

Some what the same issue, cell phone is showing dead symptoms when not plugged in, not activity what so ever is done to start
but when its plugged in its giving Grey Battery Sign and vibration every 3 seconds
when its power on it does pass the Samsung animation but after that OS is not loaded
www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5B2By7fGII
**Update
It's for sure Hardware Issue, checked with different hardware persons and they all agree that its power IC issue that is why its displaying this behaviour
Also tried to load KitKat from Odin but Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo flashes every 2 second after downloading is complete.

MY Nexus 7 does not start nor charge

Hi there
Apologies in advance if someone already posted this, but Im too tired of searching more!
Well, long story short.
My brother got me to root a nexus 7 2012 model.
As I tried, I found out it was already rooted. So started to Unroot+Stock it using WugFresh Nexus toolkit.
During the process, it stopped giving updates and the N7 was in Bootloader.
I tried booting it up but it would say 'Boot failed' and bring me back to to bootlader. I tried several times before powering it off.
Now the N7 does not turn on.
I have tried all the button combinations and timings up to 1 minute.
Even leaving it on charge.
HALEP BOLEEZE! (Help please!)

Just switched the batteries with my fully working Nexus 7, results:
My N7 turns on perfectly fine and charges with own battery.
My N7 with her battery did not turn on or charge
Her N7 with my battery did not turn on or charges.
When I put my battery back into mine, it turns on right away - no problems.
I guess her tablet is as good as dead?
If the tablet won't fire up with a known good battery, it's likely toast. You could try swapping the motherboard as well, in case the display is dead. If the motherboard from the dead tablet works in yours then you know where the second problem is.
I have had to reseat my USB daughterboard a few times when dealing with charging issues, but that wouldn't explain the refusal to start when supplied with a fully charged battery.
