Hi guys,
I'm planing on getting a nexus7 tomorrow and just before buying I noticed that the tablet is listed as NEXUS7-1B090A. It is also listed as a brown nexus7.
The weird part is that I couldn't find any details about that model, and almost all of the results in Google returned Israeli sites (I'm from Israel)
Is it possible that Israel got this specific model? Anyone else ran into a similar issue?
Thanks for the help!
It's black. For some reason, some resellers list it as brown. Which is sort-of understandable, albeit confusing, since some of our documents here list it as "brown" also.

Thanks for your reply. I don't really care about the color..I just want to make sure that this model is legit.

What do you think?
mine is brown with brown back cover... bought in USA last August..
That is strange. I've never seen a brown one before...I've seen white, but never brown..

Hi
I just sold my TyTN, and want to upgrade to a Trinity, its smaller, and has a GPS which I will need.
However, I have this "strange" urge to only get the White one. I live in Hungary, and there are no White ones available. Can I order one from somewhere? I will also visit Hong Kong this coming September, and also Mainland China, can I fetch one from there?
Any suggestions are welcome,
Thanks
Ben
Well, the white is a good choice, also because it's not affected by the paint peeling syndrome.
Unlike the black one, the color doesn't seem to be past on the plastic but, to be the original color of the plastic itself. Therefore, after 3 months of use, there isn't even a scratch on it.
When I bought mine, beginning of june, I wanted a black one, but there wasn't any available where I live.
I took the white one and now I've heard about this paint problem, I feel lucky I did.
Don't know where in Asia or Hungary you can find a white one.
In France (and maybe in other European country where they are present) Orange is distributing only white phones.
I got mine from Orange but in south America, so it's not Orange M700 style, but just a plain HTC P3600 one, white.

Hi
Thanks a lot. That makes me feel I want the white one even more
Can I obtain one from some sort of an online auction, or other online means?
What is the difference between lets say the Orange M700 and plain HTC P3600?
Thanks a lot
Ben
Hi
I found many M700s on ebay. I will try to obtain one.
unlocking one is not so trivial, I guess.
Any other places I could get one from? Maybe Asia?
Thanks
Ben
Maybe at Dopod's

As you already found out, the M700 is SIM-locked on the Orange network, and has some customizations and settings for Orange network and services.
Yes, you can always use some paid services or some 'unnofficial' applications to SIM-unlock your M700. The latters are free, but more risky.

Yes, on the Trinity, the SIM-unlock process, according to users feed-backs doesn't seem to be a big deal. I don't know myself, since mine wasn't SIM-locked, despite I got it from Orange. Their policy in South-America is more flexible.
As far as Asia is concerned, I don't know which operator sells white trinities.
CHT (Taiwanese) seems to sell (only?) black ones. Maybe you can try Dopod 810 in Hong Kong, which is SIM-locked like the M700.
But at least, you'll get WM6 ROM already on it. As Dopod users are the only ones who got WM6 upgrade officially.

Hi
Thanks, wow, wish I had found it earlier, I just got a locked one from Ebay UK. Anyways, thanks a lot for the info, and perhaps I am better off from the UK then from the US for the simple fact that I dont pay any import taxes.
Great input all of you, really appreciate it. I am looking forward to the phone, and will be unlocking it at the very time I get it.
Cheers
Ben
I bought an Orange SPV M700 off Ebay the other day...Unlocked it and have spent ages trying to find a WM6 upgrade for it....Entered various sites but they will not accept S/N...This is driving me nuts....I even can't find out how to register the phone (not the sim)with Orange...Does all this mean I will have to wait for Orange to get it's act together?????

Hi,
I think you can just upgrade any WM6 you wish to use. You may need to unlock the CID as well, did you?
I will start my phone with Unlocking it all, and upgrade to Dopod WM6. I am a bit afraid of cooked ROMs, as I am a rookie at this still
Cheers

It was suppose to be a complete unlock as I had to load another program for the GPRS....Been in I.T. for a very long time but all these acronyms blow my mind....What's CID?
Let me know how you get on Ben.

Hi,
As I dont have the phone yet, I am only speaking from what I read here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Trinity
And this is specific to the unlocking process:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_SimUnlock
And then you choose a ROM from here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Upgrades
And upgrade. As to tell you what CID is, I am not sure, but more experienced people refer to a phone which is unlocked for new ROMs as SuperCID.
If I wanted to give my best shot at guessing, this is what I would presume:
There is a SIM lock, and a CID lock. The SIM lock is obvious, prohibits you from inserting a Foreign SIM card to your original provider, in this case Orange.
CID is a lock that only allows HTC or ORANGE signed ROMs to be uploaded to the phone. One you unlock CID, you can upload any Cooked, or other but official ROMs. Like I said, I will choose the Dopod ROM, which supposed to be Official, but I am not sure Orange locked phones will allow that at all.
I (we I think) would be very much grateful for someone who could explain this in detail, and correct my mistakes above, as I assume I have a few.
Cheers
Ben
just for the info...
actually around asia the white trinity/dopod D810/HTC P3600 is a limited edition. It cost a little bit more than the black 1. And it is introduced a few months later after the 1st launching of the black one. i am not sure whether they still have in on asia market. As i was told, it was only sold on the market just for a few months. and i agreed the white ones is better than the black. especially for the bottom part of the casing. the chrome grey color, will tend to peel off easily.
just an info for u ..

From what I have heard this is the T Mobile G2.
Interesting.. some speculation on a UK release of mid may for the G2 on T-Mobile, but I guess we'll have to wait and see and there didn't seem to be any confirmed info on that!

I saw a picture of it on the net recently that seemed to indicate it might have a 5MP camera
I thought Black Magic was a sinister practise
Voda UK will not sell the black Magic, they decided they only want white! I believe you can get black Magics in Ireland, Germany, Spain and somewhere else, can't remember where that is tho!

Their designated for T mobile.
See this link.
What does A6262 mean? I went to ebay and found some Hero's that has A6262 and it shows on their description that you can use 3G in the US (American Version). Does anybody know about this? Thanks
I have no idea what it means, but why don't you give us a link to the ebay auction?
A6262 is a model number, same as the diamond was the T7272
i very much doubt that it is an American one as it has not been released yet and is probably a pre-order or a scam.
here's the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Hero-A6262-...ones?hash=item4a9a203f24&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
the box mine came in says A6262, and mine is a white UK SIM-FREE Hero.

If you read the auction, it clearly states way down at the bottom that it is not compatible with US 3G. The auction is just stating what the US bands are, not that the device is compatible with them.
I think this thread should be closed before it creates a whole muss of confusion over the inability to actually read something the whole way through.
Also, A6262 is the model number. A quick google search would have pulled that up as well.
it's still bogus though, surely? A UK "never opened" model can't be brown and unlocked, can it? isn't the white the only one that's available sim-free in the UK?
it could have been unlocked, reflashed, etc, but then it wouldn't be "never opened"

It's not brown - it's black, as per the Ebay auction title. It just has a stock picture of a brown hero. Plenty of places seem to be selling black sim-free Hero's.
Regards,
Dave
I have a UK hero and it is the same code as posted by op, i got mine from mobiles.co.uk its unlocked as i have tried orange and o2 sims and it says brown but looks more black to me with a brown bezel round it.
dunno where I got brown from, odd I believe handtec said only the white model was available sim-free in the UK, *officially*, but they could be wrong. or I could
I see that neither of: Expansys, Handtec, Amazon, Insight, mobilephonesdirect - all official HTC retailers - offer a black Hero in the UK.
Expansys are the only ones offering brown, but have none in stock (6 day lead time), whereas they have hundreds of white in stock.
Handtec explicitly note that the brown model is not available in the UK.
The others offer solely white (in sim-free).

Our stock of both pink and brown (no sniggering at the back) is sourced directly from HTC and so is generic, unlocked. However we only supply it on contract.

thanks for the confirmation; ah well, white isn't so bad, he said, trying to convince himself. I'm getting quite used to it...

Im just about to orde, looks very good in RED
its so subtle on the front, just a hint of red, it looks really good. i would think of buying it in that color but its so much on the back. does distinguish the phone though.
damn it i want one now.. do you know if they ship outside of UK?
Does anyone know when or if the other colours are to come out?

I read somewhere that a guy purchased one from dell and he lived in the USA and was told they would not ship it to USA as it has not got the right phone settings for the USA
How true it is i do not know
Just thought I'd let you guys know if you didn't already that there is definately a BLACK version of the Tab, at least there is here in UK.
As they are about to be pulled from sale in Europe I thought I'd better get one before they all disappear, so I went to PC World & bought one this morning thinking it was the brushed grey finish that I'd seen in most of the youtube vids & as is available in the US but was pleasantly surprised that the back cover was in rubberised black material, lovely
The white one is available online as well; not sure about in store. Is it defiantly getting pulled from the UK shelves then?
