[Q] Airplane enable and disable message - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Is there a way to disable the message the comes up when I enable Airplane mode? It says airplane mode allows you to turn off calling, messaging and data network features. It also turns off connectivity features such as Wi-Fi and bluetooth. To use Wi-Fi and bluetooth, turn them on in the Settings or on the notification panel. I'm not rooted.

AHHH this has been driving me nuts! if anyone has any idea how to get rid of this message it would be much appreciated. just got the phone so not rooted yet but will probably do so in the near future, especially if its the only way to get rid of this stupid confirmation.

I'm guessing that requires rooting the phone.

If you want to do something that the carrier did not originally intend to allow you to do, you will have to root.
Rooting, however, is not like jailbreaking your iPhone. The Android OS was intended to allow users to root. The carrier may not like it, but you are not damaging or hacking the OS when you root, you are simply making yourself an admin on the device.

Verizon Update

Hey everyone I just had a quick question about the new Verizon update. I have currently been getting free hotspot because of a simple glitch in the phone. I can't remember the app name but I discovered this when reading about how it let droid use the hotspot outside of verizon's plan. I realized that righ after turning on the hotspot, you simply click airplane mode until u see it activate in the notification bar and quick turn it off. This glitch let you get the hotspot for free. Now this stupid automatic notification keeps popping up to download the new verizon update. On top of the work I'll have to do to rename many .bak files to .apk; I'm worried that they fixed the glitch.
Can anyone confirm if the app to let you get free hotspot capabilty works with this update (or even better test the airplane mode method)? If not does anyone know how to keep the popup from coming back every few hours to update?

[Q] Turning off "cell" radio NOT wireless 3G radio...

Hello everyone..
here is my problem....
I no longer have cellular service from sprint, lets say sprint disconnected it...
ok so i have my evo and a bunch of things i can still do with it.
but! why is it that i cant turn off just the "cellular" radio without it going into plane mode? keep in mind im not talking about "go into wireless mode and uncheck mobile" that only turns off 3g and leaves the phone COMPLETELY ON.
i mean, i dont have the service why do i still have to put it in airplane mode (and on evo's you cant use bluetooth while on that mode)
is there an apk that i can delete so the "phone" feature is gone and no longer shows my the strength bars without the need for airplane mode? its annoying to have to turn on my "PMP" and have to see the airplane on there.
you can use titanium backup to uninstall the phone, then keep mobile networks unchecked and your good to go
edit I think it may still search for signal

installing them wouldn't solve your problem, now I'm thinking delete the prl and set it to roaming only but that would drain the battery fast, that's a toughy, lemme think about it a bit
edit it would be easy if you didn't need bluetooth
Nope, there's no real way to do it. You bought a phone, not an iPod. Live with Airplane mode or get service.
you could kill the radio process in os monitor, unsure of its exact name though
edit ill 2nd dr on this one, theres no good way
Get the app "Network" by Mangelow. It has a button to turn off just the radio.

I was looking for something like this too. In an area with very little signal, having the radio on is just annoying because it never gets signal, so it drains battery forever, even more because it is constantly scanning. This is perfect for that.
Now if someone could make a widget for this switch...
How does the battery drain? If sprint disconnected your phone it won't keep searching for a network. I have my old phone that laid for over 5 days without charge when I hot my evo... that was both the moment and intercept

It will still actually be connected to the network, you just wont be able to make calls or get texts. This is required for all cell phones, so you can still call 911, or call the carrier to re-activate the phone if you ever want to.

My SGS2 was stolen in the US and I will be getting the Galaxy Nexus.

You never thought of setting up the locate service by Samsung or even got anti-theft/locate software like TheftAware to protect your phone.
I have TheftAware on my phone and my daughter's android phone. She leaves it on 'silent' and occasionally can't find it in the house. Calling it would be no use, but I simply send a SMS with the password and SIREN ON and then her phone starts screaming. I have to send another SMS to turn the Siren off.
She was coming back from a long bus trip. I send SMS's to her phone that switched on her GPS and sent back her location to me by SMS - and she had no idea the phone was doing this. The reason I did this was to get a better estimate of when she would arrive and I wouldn't have to wake her to find out where she was.

I tot gingerbread onwards they dun allow 3rd party apps to switch on gps?
The only requirement for TheftAware is that the phone is rooted. Once it is, then the app can switch on GPS.
I also have Gingerbread 2.3.5.
I liked it because it is very hard for the thief to find the app and disable it.
There are other anti-theft apps out there, but I can only comment on the one I have used.

Unless you are on a 3rd party ROM like cyanogenmod, otherwise it is not possible even if you are rooted.
Plan B
If not too late, you could try Plan B from Lookout.
"Plan B is the 'find my phone' app that you download AFTER you lose your phone."
Cannot post link, search for it on the market.
Yeah, I would agree. Go to the web android market and install plan b. You might be lucky.

you can with secure settings and tasker. probably other ways too i'd imagine
Our phones come with a free alternative Samsung Dive. Takes a few seconds to configure and good to go even works whilst gps is off and using locate via the website would turn it on.
I personally use PhoneLocatorPro, and installing that as a system app also can activate gps whilst off.
Sorry to hear of your lost but next time you get a smartphone ensure your protected.
Samsung Dive only works in certain countries. But if you are on stock firmware leaving gps on won't harm your phone, battery drain is very minimal.

+1 for Samsung Dive.
It is free and does not require root.
Do you guys know if Samsung Dive will text me the number of the new SIM phone number if the SIM change alert option is enabled? Or is it just a warning?

Already tested this.
SamsungDive it's easy, it's efective, free, and builtin your phone.
You can even lock your phone, and put a callback number on the screen. The user will only be able to dial that number.
If you try to reset phone to factory defaults, it will ask you for the SamsungDive Account Password.
bye!

And what if the thief turned the phone off, will this still work?
Surely if someone used 3 button combination and wiped the phone and installed a fresh rom onto it... it would render all of this useless?

Would you be able to control the phone via SMS if the thief pulled out the SIM?

Any way to get rid of this mobile data notification?

This notification shows up after every reset. Obviously most of us know without mobile data or wifi Internet or some other apps don't work, no need to be reminded about it every time. There's no option for do not show again for this notification. Has anyone figured out how to get rid of it? This is almost as annoying as the constant "connect to wifi" reminder when the Galaxy S3 first came out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you

Before I get your hopes up, I don't have a solution, just a few musings...
I've never seen this before, but if it pops up after a reboot, you might try to find something in Xposed, or try looking through Data Usage, Mobile Networks, or WiFi in settings; there could be something in there.
Does this pop up no matter what, or is it only if you try to do something after a reboot? If it's the latter, you might try just waiting a few more seconds before using the phone after a reboot.

It only happens if I have mobile data turned off before I reboot, or if it's somehow turned off when the phone enters the home screen. The funny thing is it's almost trying to 'force' me to use mobile data, so like even if WiFi is on when the phone starts up, I'll get this notification. It's almost the opposite of the "connect to WiFi" notification that the S3 had.
I'm on a Dev edition Note 3 running Beans rom build 2, if that matters, with everything almost as stock as possible compared to the stock TW rom. I don't know if anyone else with the MJ3 or MJ7 rom gets this notification, I'm guessing they do on stock too.
Just curious, why do you shut data off? Your phone won't use your data connection if it's connected to WiFi.
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution :/

Bad reception - Delayed text messages - Rooted phone the cause?

Hello!
I have trouble with my One plus 6 t receiving text messages. I receive them a day late, all coming through at the same time in a bulk of messages the next day. I changed my sim card so T mobile doesn't seem to be the cause of it. Are these problems because I rooted my phone? If so what is the solution? Thank you!
My 6T is also rooted and at one point I has service issues (on Verizon) I tried all my mods one at a time till I figured out witch mod caused it and I was shocked to find out it was my substratum themes messing with something. Once removed all was grand. Hope this help. Go one by one through any mods in place disabling them see if it helps.

The problem is that I have a lot of apps...Did you disable them one by one? And also I realise that I receive the delayed messages 1 day after so it's not easy to check. So the problem comes from the fact that my phone is rooted? Also when I use the camera my phone closes sometimes, like 30 sec after...Very weird. Does all this come from the rooting? Never heard of this problem before.
Yes I did dilisabled one at a time and rebooted after each one. And for text delay who is your carrier I'm on Verizon and mine was delayed for a hour or so till I figured it out I'd quick text my self hi from my own number and hit home to close the messages app out so I could time the reply time.
This helped me also.

Try turning off battery Optimization See if that helps, Could be just a delay with your signal... Had that happen before, I had full signal but everything was delayed.
I have similar issue to receive delayed messages after the latest Open Beta 12. Stock message app on unrooted 6T.

Hello,
So the problem comes from the fact my phone is rooted? Yesterday it was impossible to take a video correctly for example my phone was shutting of every 30 seconds, and the mobile phone network bar disappeared, then came back and so on, like if I was losing the network every 30 seconds. I'll try to do a video of this

This is not normal. I've been rooted for months and do not have these problems. There is something else wrong
Just being rooted wouldn't be the issue. Sometimes it's honestly as simple as resetting your network settings. As for camera issues have you modified your camera in any way, possibly added a magisk module or something that isn't compatible with our phones, outdated modules can sometimes cause issues as well. It's hard to pinpoint but rooting isn't the issue as these phones were designed for rooting. It's something else entirely. You said your on T-Mobile, was it branded T-Mobile? They like to put their own bloated apps on phones that could probably cause issues too. This is why I went straight to the actual company. You get more up to date and their warranties better than tmobiles. Without knowing what's on your phone I can just speculate. But no just rooting and unlocking bootloader isn't causing this issue

I bought it from One plus directly, not T mobile. I resetted the network settings a lot of times and it still does the same thing. I noticed it happens more when several applications are opened, like when I watch a youtube video and do something at the same time. But even after closing youtube app and all my other apps, it does the same thing. On magisk I have: Busybox for Android, Energized protection, Google product sans, IOS 12.1 emoji, systemless hosts, viper4android, youtubevanced.
I've noticed that being on WiFi causes phone network issues (e.g., phone calls going straight to voicemail, text messages being delayed). This is with WiFi calling disabled, and a non-rooted phone. Really not sure what's going on here, especially because when it happens, my network signal is just fine. But if I disable WiFi, the delayed texts come in immediately. Super annoying.
This is on T-Mobile, latest beta (I think version 11).
