Make sure you have the latest and greatest samsung drivers, make sure you enable USB debugging, as it may have reverted back after you rooted to disabled under developers options.

Thanks! I had all that you mentioned above and it still didn't work. But, I restarted my phone, and it started working all of a sudden...the only difference that I noticed was that before, when I plugged into my computer, the message in the notification bar said "Connected as an installer." Now, when it works, it says "Connected as a media device".

Glad to hear, but in the future, if you have a problem and want it solved faster, list everything that you have tried. not saying that you checked connect media device should have been in your OP. Good luck.

MMS for the Vogue Android?

Kinda random and out there but I was just thinking, Now that Verizon and Sprint have Android phones with this capability why don't we?
It allows me to on mine, but Bell doesn't believe in MMS.
I had researched this because I wanted MMS, and the Vogue is blocked on the server side for Sprint. They won't allow you to send MMS, even if your device can do it. It may have changed since the last time I read up on it, but my guess is that it hasn't.

Them bastards.
Sprint has some photo sending app if you go into the free apps in the sprint store. not sure if it is true mms but it allows me to send pics to phone numbers. worth looking into to see if itss mms or a weird integration they did. if it is true mms then maybe we could use it with android
How about now?
Does anyone have a build with working MMS for verizon? I haven't been able to find anything that says if it works or not...
Thanks.

Me neither. I don't see why VZW guys can't use MMS. VZW has MMS unlike some other carriers. I've asked devs and been told that they just haven't gotten around to it so I guess its possible. Hopefully a dev will have the time to do this in the near future.

Love my Eris, I mean absolutely love it. I mean I thought I knew Hero by running on my Vogue but I didnt know squat. Only downsides are that it doesnt have root and its still using cupcake. But if Verizon ever gets an HTC Android phone with a Snapdragon then the Eris aint got nothing.
When I was running Android on my XV6900, my MMS worked just fine. I was using some Donut build, I can't remember which off the top of my head. I may still have it on one of my computers, I'll post back and let you know which build it was.

I have the same issue. The problems is android related. Running NFSfans 6.5 rom I never missed any MMS. They don't even come to my phone now as if they were never sent. Txt messages work fine tho....I'm w/ verizon also.

What kind of software did you get that allows transfers between your pc and your Eris? I'm having to remove my microsd and insert it in my pc tower card reader put it back in my phone then reset. If I don't reset Astro shows nothing on my SD when I explore after transferring.
When you plug your phone into your computer, pull down the notification bar on your Eris, tap on the USB connected notification, then tap mount.

I got a vogue but I've done that. What do I use on my pc to view the android file structure to drag and drop files to it? I see "android phone" in "device and printers" but there's a yellow triangle icon on it when I troubleshoot it keeps looking for a driver. I've installed the adb driver a while back but it seems to be corrupt?

If your using Haret then I'm not sure if what your trying to do is possible, but if your booting from Nand then I think I heard it was possible but your gonna have to check in that thread
I'm running from NAND. I've tried installing PDAnet also and it installs multiple drivers. One for USB, one for mass storage, but fails on "disk drive"...I'm thinking thats the one I need to transfer files but I cant seem to get it to work.

Tethering built into 2.1 RUU for the Sprint Hero has

Hey guys I rarely, if ever, post anything, but I made a discovery yesterday that I just tested and wanted to let everyone in on it. I have the **Leaked** but now **Official** "RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.27.651.5_R_signed_release" installed on my phone. My phone had not been rooted and I decided to upgraded from 1.5 to 2.1 yesterday (just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger sooner). While I molesting the new features I went to mount the phone as a disk drive and noticed there were some additional options. Once you plug in the USB into the phone, access the pull-down menu from the status bar and press "Charge Only". You will be greeted with another menu that, among other things, has an option for "Internet Sharing" select this and the phone will install some software on your computer. After that your computer will be able to utilize your phone as a modem. Now I haven't tried this over just a 3G connection as I live out in the country and my service is terrrrrible out here, but what I was able to confirm is that this works over WiFi with no problems. I turned off the Wifi card on my laptop and enabled the Wifi on the phone. A few moments later I got the connection indicator on my laptop (Windows Vista) and away we go. I posted this using the connection. Can anyone confirm this works over 3G?
Screen shots posted below. (Sorry about the blurry pics, I don't have the steadiest hands)
did you update with the RUU?
FYI, this is not "wifi" tethering, it's "wired" tethering.
good to know internet sharing was in the final!
If I understand your question correctly, yeah I updated with the RUU but I wasn't really interested in rooting the phone.
Yes it works, but you need to change your PRI

In other words, no it does not work if you ran the RUU. You would have to be rooted, flash an Eris based ROM, and then update using the SprintUpdate2.zip Damageless posted.

Aside from "Flashing an Eris ROM breaks your PRI" he wouldn't find much. Sometimes you just gotta let it slide and lend a hand.
Are you guys talking about the same thing he is? He said he ran the RUU and is not rooted. He said he doesn't get good 3g where he lives but what he did was turn off wifi on his laptop and enable it on the phone. He enabled internet sharing and it shared his internet connection with the laptop.
This isn't wifi tethering like we usually describe it, but he is describing a different situation than the one you guys are talking about. Unless I missed something in the posts.

You're both right and wrong.
I was assuming that he rooted his phone before updating to 2.1, thought he just made a mistake by adding the ruu part.
And he was asking about 3g tethering since he could do it over wifi.
To answer his question: You cannot tether that way if you ran the official RUU...that is until an exploit is found and you root your phone.
PDAnet will still work for you though
He probably has one of the few Sprint PRI's that allows MNS....bastage.....
Thanks guys, I'll take my laptop to work tomorrow and give it a try with and without PDANet. Thanks for all of the feedback.
What is you PRI number?
Pri version: 2.20_003
I have the same PRI number. How did you get the network sharing to work? Did you download any software?
yeah we need to find out if this new PRI will allow wired tethering, but I don't want to lose root
we need a few people (read: guinea pigs) to test it out
Ok, I got the network sharing via wired tether to work with WIFI. Now if I can get it to work on 3g.
Edit:
I tried to use the 3g network and it will not allow you to wire tether. It will keep popping up error 67 which "Data Call Failure". Boo.
I'm currently trying to figure out where exactly the PRI is stored in a ROM, so I can make update.zip's of different PRI's, to allow tethering.

The hero has always been able to share wifi using the usb tether. The 3G sharing will be disabled for you as always. Sorry to burst your bubble this is not something new. In fact, way back before we had root you could use a trick to tether the 3G over usb by turning off mobile network and then enabling the MNS while turning the mobile network back on. It was just a bug that someone found to bypass the 3G sharing lockout. After we got root no one really needed that trick anymore.

hmm... Interesting Cause I was just able to play WoW while tethering and was able to watch a youtube video full screen hd even though had to give it time to buffer some
-pre4 is working great for me! You need root, but once the app loads, tap the middle of the wireless symbol (you should get an SU prompt) and connected my computer. Posting this from my netbook tethered to my Vibrant with this app.
Hmm... disabling tethering gives me a screen with on and off icons and a message saying that the phone's state is unknown and I should try rebooting. It's working fine though, I connected back up to the wifi network here and all is well.

We have three Vibrants and the app worked fine on two of them. However, my wife's phone would lock up when trying to start tethering. We also noticed her phone was generally slower than our other two Vibrants. We returned the phone yesterday and exchanged it, but I haven't tried tethering with the new one. My wife wants to use it for a while without rooting it.

I just bought the Developer version of the Note 4. I'm using the USB cord that it came with. I've tried connecting it to two different computers. My Note 2 connects to both PCs fine using the same USB cable. I also have "Samsung ADB" showing up in device manager when I connect it. I also can't connect it to Kies 3. Tried using Kies to load drivers, uninstalled drivers many times and reloaded. USB debug is checked. Not sure what I'm missing either?
Maybe you change the mode.
you can try dial *#0808# then choose the second mode(MTP + ADB).
if you can not enter into that *#0808#,you can try an other method, input ##366633# then choose (DM mode disable).
hope that will help you!

Thank you sooooo much! That did it!! Fixed!! I used this one ##366633# the other number wouldn't work for me. I tried so many "Hidden Menu" numbers last night but none would work. I even read a post that said these numbers won't work on Verizon phones. Since I couldn't get any to work myself, I believed it. I almost ignored your post thinking it was another solution for someone on a different network than mine. Unbelievable...I tried so many different crazy solutions but nothing would work. I was ready to wipe my phone and start over but when I woke this morning I decided to check and see if anyone had updated this thread....low and behold....a christmas android angel did appear...ok maybe I'm going a bit far but I've spent 2 days on this. Just want to say thank you again. It feels so good when a problem like this is resolved

Hello
Settings/Developer Options (Make sure that Developer Options are turned on).
Then check Stay Awake and USB Debugging mode and rebot your phone.
Computer won't recognize my Note 4
So I have plugged in my Galaxy Note 4 via a normal USB-microUSB cable, and nothing happens. It starts to charge, but none of the 3 computers I tried would recognize it. Not as a media device, nothing. This is extremely irritating since I HAVE done this before with THIS phone. It connected to my old Alienware laptop with zero problems. The only difference between then and now is that I was in South Korea, and now I'm not. This is a Korean phone, but it's unlocked and has always worked like all the other Samsungs I've ever had. But my US computers just WILL NOT recognize it. I tried the ##366633# thing and it said USSD code running, then 'The entered values are outside the valid range. Check the values and try again.' Beginning to lose my temper over here....SIGH. Any help?
I have the same problem, tried three computers and none recognize it. I tried the *#0808# method too, it changes the usb debugging checkbox to checked but the whole setting is still greyed out. When connecting to the computers the phone starts charging but nothing else happens. I installed the usb drivers from samsungs site too, but it did not help.
Is there any way to get usb mass storage mode??
Has anyone had any luck getting this working? I'm having the same problem! I have tried entering all of those codes mentioned above, have rebooted the phone and am not even sure what to do anymore. I really don't want to do a factory reset to my phone, but I'm running out of ideas and there doesn't seem to be any fixes out there that work for me. Please help!
I tried dialing the ##366633# but it didn't work. I kept on getting an error saying something like unknown MMI.
This is what I did and mass storage worked fine. I don't know if it'll work for everyone's Note 4 since I'm still a beginner at android.
If you haven't, first download and install the Samsung USB drivers to your PC: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-N910AZKEATT?CID=AFL-hq-mul-0813-11000946#
Then go into the Developer Options setting of the Note4 and select "USB Debugging" and "Allow mock locations". Then restart the Note 4 and go to a home screen. Then connect your Note4 to the PC via USB. After the PC sees and establishes a connection, you will see the drive: SAMSUNG-SM-N910A (I have an ATT variant). And clicking on it will display one drive for your phone and one drive for your sd card... if you have an SD card inserted. Works as mass storage.
I got the idea here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnQ9uxNogeI
Can't connect my galaxy note 4 (SM-N910T) to my computer
I have try everything and nothing works, new cable, new battery, reset to factory mode, reboot, all the *#0808#, ##366633#, change the usb port for an original one and still nothing. when I plug the phone in the charging mode on the phone goes on but is not recognized by kies on my mac air, and using the same cable I plug in my note 3 and is recognized immediately that means the problem is on the phone, I also notice that when I plug it in to the fast charger is taking too long to charge as long as 6 hours for a full charge. This is an old thread but Im having the same issue, did a factory reset and it is still not working, Tried all above remedies to no avail. I can connect and use wifi fine, but if I restart the phone, or if the wifi drops, It'll only notify me of networks to connect to, and won't connect automatically to my home network.
This feature worked fine before root and I don't remember having to alter any settings to get it connect automatically. If there's any other information I can provide let me know.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Did you even search in the root thread. It's only been mentioned hundreds of times with the fix. The search button is your friend.

searching for wifi yields no result that even remotely relates to my problem. If you're having a bad day, you don't have to reply to my thread, friend. Thanks for all the help retard

Funny, the search pulled up a lot of results for me.
If your having issues after you root a device, it's best to search in the root thread of that phone as others may have the same issue. RETARD.
PS. I see the answer in one of these screen shots, that was pretty easy huh.
