[Q] My i9505 did shutdown by himself should I worry? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello my four days old Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 did a shutdown al by himself overnight while charging. Because of this my alarm didn't go off. All I needed to do is a normal boot and the phone worked fine, but I don't think its normal!
Should I worry? Is there maybe a log that I can look at to see what happened during the night? I suppose this isn't normal behavior? Someone else had this issue?
It's my first android phone, I always had an iPhone (3G, 3GS, 4, 4s and 5) never had this kind of issue. My wife also has a galaxy S4 and that one is working fine. At this moment it only happened ones so maybe it could be a coincedence?

Some android phones do that from time to time... Wait for an update... Maybe it will disappear.. If not then try another firmware

I did flash the official firmware for dutch i9505 throught ODIN. But that's what I also did to my wifes i9505. I will monitor the phone and see if its going to be more often.
Thanks for you're reply.

i surely hope it is a one off... but i had same issue.. (i dont care about warranty) but i flashed cwm and wiped ALL (including system) and then flashed a stock rom with ODIN... no problems anymore but lets see what the updates and such will bring for you

Up until now no automatic shutdown. I'm really waiting for a good ROM like cm10.1. When that happens I will flash CWM.
Omega looks really good maybe I will try that tomorrow.

I'm having the exact same problem. Got my S4 May 1st and had these overnight charging shutdowns about 3-4 times since then. Quite annoying, specially when you' re using the alarm (which fortunately I don't).
Hope a future update will solve this soon....
I am on ME2 update (Dutch)

I'm also on dutch ME2, came from MDM german ROM. But I just had it one time now. Up until now everything worked perfectly. I hope it was a one time thing.
My wifes phone is also on Dutch ME2 and also came from MDM german ROM. She never had any problems whatsoever. Its very weird, I don't think its hardware related, its some kind of software problem.

Have I just hard bricked my note? Read first post please

My note is dead, no joke...its not turning on at all now. I flashed my rom as its the first rom I ever created...it didn't work as it came up with an error, then I flashed Criskelo 5.0 rom and it flashed...no problems. So then, I thought i'd try flashing my rom again and it failed then...then I tried flashing Criskelo 5.0 rom again and it came up with an error and it said (bad) in brackets, then I tried flashing another rom called ParanoidAndroid and it was on the 3rd line for 5 minutes and then screen just went black after that and my phone never woke up again.
When I put the battery into my note, there is no life at all, I get a constant back screen, however...the phone gets warm with battery inserted. I've took out battery and put it back in with same problem. I've tried PC odin but the cable connection does not show a yellow or green light on the PC odin software.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yeah...i'll modifiy my original post to go over everything so people are aware of what exactly went wrong and to determine if I do have a super brick.

However, my phone is fully bricked.
Yep. You flahed a rom on a bad kernel.
So its bricked. This is why you should always read as much info as you can. It says quite clearly in every rom posted to not do what you did.

Yep, sorry but the phone is bricked. Had the same problem with my S2 a couple of weeks ago. Have had plenty of experience flashing firmwares but this time half way through the phones screen went black, & phone would not restart. Tried everything, usb jig etc., but no luck. Phone would get hot with battery inserted.
Sent the phone to the link below, simply telling them that the firmware installation had stopped half way through. They could not repair it themselves & had to return it to Samsung, this took about seven days. Now have the phone back working perfectly, all I had to pay was the return postage.

If I bought my phone from Carphone Warehouse does that mean I have Samsung warranty, sorry for stupid question. Your from the Uk right?...where are the services centres or did you send abroad?

Yes, it will be covered by Samsung warranty, just send it to the company in the link, they will send it on to Samsung.
Carphone warehouse should honour your warranty... If their at all problematic, try with your operator. Either Carphone warehouse will take it at a store, or your provider will do a next day collection, and usually replace there and then.

Well...I just presumed that I could follow a rom development thread and everything would be okay, its not the same as app development...I know that now, however...I will still continue developing
The funny thing is that I never realised that it could brick my device as I was happy it wasn't the LPY stock rom.
If anyone knows a thread that I can refer to about script then please link me to it as it would help alot, thanks.

Nexus 4 no reception

ok ive read a looooot and I havent found a fix for my problem...
Ive got my nexus 4 2 weeks ago and everything wast just fine.... one day like everyday i plugged my phone to the wall charger before I went to sleep, when I woke up the next day the phone had no signal at all no 3g, no EDGE, no nothing... I read that the problem was caused by a bug on the 4.3 android (the one that I was running)... I decided to flash the paranoid android 3.99 with the radio that appears at the official PA post and it didnt worked... then I flashed the Cyanogenmod 10.1 that its supposed to be based on android 4.2.2 (and has the working radio version) and it doesnt work either... I flashed one of the radio versions available in "the radio list post" and it didnt worked either... i dont know what to do now... HELP ME PLEASE :crying::crying:

Do you have a different micro sim around? Try putting it in the phone. If ot works, then change your current sim.
If I may chime in. Do you have an empty triangle, where the reception bars would be? If so you may have a hardware problem. Long story short my first Galaxy Nexus broke on me in the way I just described.

The only thing you could do is flash the factory images. If those don't work, then it may be hardware related (sim or phone).

well I just had 4.4 KitKat OTA downloaded through LG last night.

Well, most ppl do a factory reset after they get a major update, so I could suggest you try to do the same, back everything up, factory reset and try afterwards!

[Q] Need help please!

I'm sorry for making this thread but i can't seem to find what im troubled for. And im pretty much a NOOB regarding this thing.. so please be understanding.. i have a samsung s4 sgh-i337 running mf3 4.2.2 (rooted) lately charging it took a lot of hours it took me 8 hours just to charge it from 5% to 100% i already closed all the background apps, wifi off, screen off, but still the same, so i think it must be the operating system i don't know if i just done something wrong or what, so I'm thinking to update my phone to the latest version (Kitkat) using samsung kies is it okay? because im rooted right now wouldn't it brick my phone? and does updating my phone correct or replace all the settings that i done wrong or deleted before? which is probably the cause of the slow charging? i really have no idea.. really noob here.. or is there any better way to resolve this? i hope someone can help me, and if there is links regarding answers to my question i would be happy if anyone could post it here.. thanks in advance..

Are you using the wall charger or the usb one? There's a big difference in charging rates of the two. If you want the official OTA update to Kit Kat 4.4.2, then you must be unrooted & all aps & files as original stock. Best & safest way is to Odin back to stock. Search Mf3 tar files on XDA.

i'm using the wall charger, at first it works really fine, then i noticed that it was charging slow, at first i thought that was normal, but now it is really slow. when i try to use it while charging it the battery drops rather than to increase because it is charging.. and btw thanks for the tip regarding updating to Kitkat i was about to try it using kies that could end up bad hehe. but is it wise to use stock? i have read other threads about using other roms. i don't know if i should use it too..

I had to replace a charger that did exactly what yours is doing. New one is perfect. Difference is like night & day. Perhaps your battery is going? Go to an At&t store and have your phone & charger checked. The usual suspect for such problems is the charger. Start there. Be sure to read the guide before going all the way up to Kit Kat. Depends on what you want. if I were you I wouldn't update beyond MK2, which gives you 30+ JellyBean 4.3 roms & almost over 1/2 a dozen Kit Kat 4.4.2 roms.

Softbricked T-Mobile SM-G935T

I was updating some apps from the playstore and decided to check my voice mail by holding the 1 key in the dialer, but then my phone rebooted. Now, it won't boot past the TMO screen no matter what I do. I've tried wiping cache in recovery, and everything but a factory reset because I have a pin/fingerprint set up. I've heard that it will lock you out of your phone for 3 days if you factory reset from MM for security reasons, hence why I haven't done it. I can't find the firmware to sideload for the T-Mobile variant, can someone shed some light on this issue? It's rather annoying to have it softbrick for no reason, and not have the firmware to fix it. If someone has the firmware that would be great, or if they know how to fix it.
you can bypass FRP(the lock after reset). ive done this with about 5 s6 edges. I just bypassed one last night. i would assume it prolly works with the s7 edge also.

So you tried the power on and volume key method but it stuck on starting up? Looks like I got off lightly . . Wonder if it's a software thing like the camera problem people are experiencing
This happened to a lot of s6edge+ users in the beginning.
Still no idea what was causing it. Updates seen to have cleared it, however, every s6edge+ reboots/freezes at launch one in a while.

It is Gen1. It is fixable via ADB, with a proper connection rig but my improvised rig resulted in a fried USB port on one of my computers after a successful connection, so I just gave up. I may one day buy a Chinese connection rig (there are some nice ones for sale) but the investment is just not worth it, I will probably get a Gear S2 and be done with Motorola, forever.

I know this is a little off topic:
Motorola didn't make it easy due to their lack of pogo pins (even though most people don't like them). I'm not sure how it would fry a USB port, but anything can happen. I plugged my 6P into my Surface Pro 4's dock via an A-C cable and it windows said it was trying to pull to much current and shut off the port until I rebooted. Things happen for better or worse, but I prefer AW over Tizen due to the long term support, despite liking Samsung's rotating bezel.
