The number one thing killing my battery in the settings menu is Google services.. How is this possible. The screen isn't even number one.. Has anyone experienced this being the main cause of battery drain? Is their any way to fix this?
Do you have sync enabled? Thats the name in the battery stats for your phone syncing accounts

My new S4 searches for GPS location every 10-15 seconds for some reason. Can I find out what app is doing this, or does anyone know why it does it? Thanks.

Do you have GPS & all location services enabled? Or an app that has location services enabled? Also how can tell it is searching every 10-15 seconds?

I do have all that enabled, yes. And I know it because the GPS crosshairs show up that often.

Download a battery monitoring app (I HIGHLY recommend GSam Battery Monitor) and see what is using your GPS signal.

It might be smart Wifi. Go into your advanced wifi settings and turn it off. (It uses GPS to determine when to look for wifi)
I believe you may have a user app running in the background that is constantly accessing your location. Kill user apps one at a time until the gps indicator stops flashing or you may find the culprit by checking the permissions of recently installed apps.

I have GPS on 24/7 and it doesn't drain my battery. I've been averaging one day with 3hr + on screen time. It must be an app draining his battery this bad.

Joe all phones are different. I turn mine off when in am not using it to prevent this. But more than likely the OP has a rouge app.

^^^This. I've left GPS on 100% of the time on my last 10 Android phones, and it has literally zero effect on battery life. I've compared with it off, and with it on, and both give exact same results. My wife didn't believe me either and she tried and got same results as well and keeps it on all the time now too. If anything, it actually helps battery because your phone isn't randomly trying to pull network location all the time as GPS overides priority location (if I remember correctly).
I saw other threads but nothing for VZW N3 ... does anyone else have this issue?

Turn off your location services.
go to ur google account setting, check off on picture + music + book syncs.
No issue here so far. Battery at 26% on 3d2h with screen on 3h21m.
Doing a comparison to my Note 2 that just did 4d6h with 5% battery left but only about 1h of screen on.
I bought a S4 manufacturer refurbished new with battery, charged it for like 6 hours as it is new, I've been using it for nearly 5 hours now and it is at 41%, from the very start I've disabled nearly everything apart from WiFi and the Samsung features such as air gestures and stuff and even mobile data (as I have none atm) have been disabled and brightness has been just slightly higher than lowest, how is it possible that the battery is draining so fast???

look at your settings and go to the "battery" section, and have a look at whats eating up your battery.
you can use "greenify" from google play to suspend any applications too.
Here look Twitter is nearly highest, I find it highly unbelievable that Twitter has been eating my battery this fast, I've seen S4 users have their screen brightness to the highest watch videos social networks etc for 16 hours and still have juice left

Direct track is killing your battery. You need to find out what that wake lock is and get rid of it. Google directtrack wakelock
Music also seems to have taken a lot when I didn't even use it a lot

I have GSam battery monitor installed on my Note 3 (SM-900) running stock JB 4.3 (MK1) ....
Since a last few days I have witnessed battery drain on my phone without any apparent reason....I charge my phone to 100% at night (wifi & 3G data is off at night) & when I wake up after about 8 to 9 hours of sleep I find that the battery is down to 85% !!! Strange isn't it ...
GSam battery monitor says that nearly 67% of battery is used by "App Usage" , on clicking App Usage for bifurcation of battery usage I find that nearly 50% of my battery is used up by "Kernel (Android OS)"......How to control this , any help will be appreciated dear forum friends !!
Please help me regarding this unusual problem....
