Smart Switch or Start from Scratch?

Just curious if people use Smart Switch (or similar programs/apps) to transfer all the old data/contacts/music/apps to the new phone or start fresh, re-download apps one by one, etc? When I switch to a new device, I'm usually (maybe unreasonably) fearful that some stray bit of old or unused data or file will transfer over that will affect the performance of the new device, thinking I'm making it 'dirty'. I also use it as an opportunity to purge apps I don't use enough to warrant keeping them. Over time I always collect apps I use maybe one time and I leave them there, no reason why. Time to clean house!
Coming from S7E, when I go into Best Buy to pick up the S8+ I'm sure they'll ask if I want them to OTG the data over... No thanks, I want my baby clean.

I might have to check out this smart switch. I usually back up everything with Titanium then restore on the new device. The problem is that often causes problems if you restore the data that goes with the apps (last time I did that it screwed up notifications for things like whatsapp and emails), I think it was due to going from kitkat to marshmallow on my S5 and the difference in permissions handling between them probably screwed it up when restoring data. Of course not restoring the data means I lose all my save games, old messages in whatsapp, call logs, saved wifi networks etc etc so it would be nice to restore these things without screwing up anything on the new device. I wonder if Smart Switch (never heard of it before) could do it better than trying to restore from Titanium?
I guess not, just installed Smart Switch on my S5 and it won't even run. Tap to open it, it flashes up on the screen then vanishes.

I'm going to try smart switch, loading it now on my Nexus 6.

Well I still can't get smart switch to even load on my S5. Same thing constantly, tap the icon to load it, a smart switch screen flashes up then vanishes. No error messages and it stil shows in the recents menu, selecting it from there does the same thing, smart switch comes up, then vanishes again.
No idea why, I am using phoenix rom for my S5 which I think has bits of S7E firmware in it but that shouldnt cause an issue, the phone itself couldnt be running any better and its still a samsung android phone so smart switch should at least run, instead of vanishing without any kind of error message to give me a bluddy clue as to what i need to do to make it work.
Are there any good alternatives to smart switch? googling it just brings up the usual bunch of junk you get in these types of searches that i dont trust at all.

When I use smart switch it always gives me a rouge run away app that kills my batter and I end up factory resetting to correct it so what I started doing was sms backup and restore to restore my call logs, txt and sms messages including pictures and allowing Google to restore my apps ( no data) and go from there. Yeah I know I have to reset up my apps but I don't care at least I start from a somewhat clean slate and have everything I need . That's just my experience and opinion.

If we're coming from a non-Samsung device, is there another tool we could use to do the same thing? As the bootloader will be locked, I can't rely on TiBackup or anything which I've always used in the past.

Helium backup and mybackup.

I like to tranfer everything because i have so much.
But funny thing is tho when i first got my s7 edge the smart switch didnt work, everything didnt tranfer.
Went to the note 7. Then went to a new note 7 (recall) still didnt tranfer my apps. Back to the s7 i went fresh and it now backs up correctly. So ill try the smart switch again.
Then box up ky s7e and ship it back

Smart switch works on multiple devices on Android and iOS. I'm going to give it a go first.

I always just start from scratch. Had too many problems in the past with apps misbehaving. I'd rather just devote a few hours to reloading manually than devote days to figuring out wtf is going wrong.

Starting from scratch. Had some issues with my pixel XL when I transferred my data

Nothing works 100% right when you transfer. It's just a fact. I've gone from S6 to S7, S7 to Note, Note back to S7, and other Android to Android transfers. Inevitably some app or setting screws something up. It might be minor, it might cause reboots. Not worth the risk. SmartSwitch is very slick, but it still can cause grief.
This is what I'd suggest based on past experiences.
1) Use an unencrypted SD card to copy photos, music, ringtones, and anything else media related between phones. There is no downside to this. You can save new pics to the SD card on the new phone while keeping all your old pics and it will just work. (Make sure and back stuff up. Phone or SD card, you never know when things will die.) You're coming from an S7, so you have that SD card option. If other users don't have an SD slot, copy the files to your computer and then to the new phone.
2) Make a list of all the apps that are relevant to you. There is likely a lot of baggage on your current phone you just left there. That app you downloaded once for one purpose that you never deleted. The app that is specific for the phone you're coming from and has no use on the new one. The picture editing app you downloaded but then started using something else. Bottom line, only bring along the baggage that you use. Adding back unnecessary stuff can just slow down a phone.
3) Set up your shiny new S8. Get it on your network. Get your Google account signed in. Go through ALL the system preferences. Turn off garbage settings you won't ever use (Edge sports for instance...). Set the timeout and security settings you will use.
4) Look over the apps that are on the phone already. Disable the ones you don't need/want. You can keep it basic and just do it in the app list settings or you can go a bit deeper and use an app from the Play Store to disable apps or go all old school and use pm on the phone's shell to do it. (pm -hide com.vznavigator.Generic for example) Once you've done that, your phone will be as pure as it can be without putting a custom ROM on it. Update the apps now or later.
5) Log into your Google account on a desktop browser and go to the Play Store. Use that list of apps you made before to bring them all up in the browser. Hit install there and choose your shiny new S8 as the destination. (This is just quicker than going into the Play Store on your phone and searching for each of them.) They'll download in the background on your phone as you choose them.
6) The crappy part. Set up the apps again. They're all installed fresh and clean so you'll need to launch them and put in passwords, accounts, settings, etc. It's painful, but it is the only way to guarantee that no gremlins on the phone came along with transfers.
7) Pop in that SD card you had with all your pics, music, ringtones, etc. on it.
8) Finish set up. Set your camera to use the SD card, choose the SD card as the storage location for offline YouTube and Netflix videos, etc.
9) Enjoy your new phone.

Don't do it. It seems so nice and slick, but it's caused grief every single time I've used it. Subtle glitches sometimes, force quits other times.

Thanks for the comprehensive list, good stuff there. To combat #6, I use a password manager (LastPass) which will autologin to my apps with a fingerprint. Saves a lot of typing, and I'll give the FPS a good workout and get used to the placement in the meanwhile.

i just use google account too download previous google store apps and populate the contacts. then get my 3rd party apk installed, that i keep on my sd card. things like unlimited skip pandora, etc.

I am coming from iOS, not sure how much it can be transferred... I guest only photo and contact, without apps...
Will missed some apps that I bought... need to buy it again on Google Store.

I wouldn't even transfer photos. Just download Google Photos on iOS and upload them and then download them on the new device.

[Q] Using Helium to restore apps and data? Keep getting errors.

So since I cant use TB right now. I am trying to use Helium to restore from my Galaxy S6 to my S8.
I already did smart switch to get the core around, but of course as expected it didnt do all my apps since some arent on play store. So now am trying to restore from my Helium backup, but many times it gets stuck on a restore for an app.
So just wondering, how else is everyone getting around all this? Thanks.

try again.
force stop the app on both devices and try again(make sure you do a sync, they're easier and more stable than backup-restore)
the backup process can be a bit unstable, some apps took several tries for me.
also good to know, running apps can't be transferred.
so kill any app you plan on transferring.
and smart switch does sideloaded and discontinued apps too if you use a cable to do the transfer.

Had the same problem. The next day, I tried restoring one at a time and it worked. Then, I was able to restore the rest as a batch. I can't explain it.

Smart Switch doesnt do the app data tho. So even with side loading, Id still be missing the data.
Now as for the sync. Are you doing to internal storage or google drive?
I did try restoring some apps one by one, and "says" complete, but never is. Doesnt even show it installed. So rather odd.
Just know right now. I am lil annoyed without root for a simple process to backup apps and data and restoring. Reminds me of when I do a clean windows install.... 3 days worth of setting up again vs 1 click of Titanium Backup restore. >.<

you select your old phone from the restore screen, choose an app, and it will make a backup and sends it to your new phone, which then immediately installs it.

I can't get Helium to work on my S8+ at all. It says it restores apps and data, but the app is never installed. Tried one app at a time, everything. Helium worked fine going from my Note 4 to Note 7, then to my replacement Note 7, then from my Note 7 to my S7E. But from my S7E to my S8+ - it does not work. PITA and there are several apps I REALLY needed to migrate data.

did you try installing the app through the play store or smart switch first?
I didn't have any real issues, but I did go through smart switch first.

Anyone figure out the solution???? Please post

Would be nice if I knew how "sync" mode worked. All I get from the restore/sync list under my devices is "An error occured while retrieving your device list"

I can't get Helium to recognize that the S8 is in PTP mode. Even when it is, Helium states that the phone is in MTP mode. Anyone else experiencing this problem with Helium and their Galaxy S8 Plus?

Same issue with helium, it restores everything but then the apps simply aren't there.

I've tried everything to make Helium work - still says apps installed, but they never do. Surely there has to be an answer to this riddle.

Anyone have any updates or other solutions we can use? Helium devs never responded back to me.. so I feel like I just wasted 5$ on them.

Maybe time to give a one star rating for them on the playstore until they address the issue.

Is sync part of Smart Switch or Helium? Forgive me if question is obvious but since thread is about Helium, just wanted to make sure you are referring to a feature of SmartSwitch

it's a feature in helium.
i don't know exactly how the devices find each other, but in my restore screen i can see my old phone as a source and if i select it i can choose from almost any app currently installed on my old phone and have it start a backup on the old phone that immediately restores on my S8.
it is far more reliable than backup to cloud for me.

Sync doesn't work for me. I have an error,
An error occurred while retrieving your device list. Getting this on both the new SO and the source phone.
Any secrets to getting the device to list? I am running the latest version of Helium.

Sync doesn't work with the S8. I do believe it was an option when I went from my Note 4 to my Note 7, then from my first Note 7 to my second Note 7, and also available from my second Note 7 to my S7E back in early February. But there is something not allowing sync between devices on Helium and the S8/S8+. So synicing isn't an option when the phones are not being "seen" as being available to sync. As others have said, there is an error message saying phones aren't available or something similar.

how do i stop system update in progress?

can someone please help me ,i did not not update my phone i got it back from RMA and it would not complete the setup process .
i entered my google account and it kept on freezing and would not set up
failed first 3 times then on the 4th try it it almost set up , i got the new device sign in notification on my other device
but google play store would not sign in or download apps it hung there for hours
when i rebooted the phone it said system update in progress ,the phone was already on 7.1.2
i think huawei puts their own versions on when you send it in,does not seem like a good idea to overwrite to the normal OTA version but nobody seems to know if it is safe or not but i would rather not do it if possible
i held down power and vol down and get to the boot menu but i have no idea what to do or if it is possible to stop the update

First off, boot to recovery mode and do a factory reset. If you don't know how, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there. Secondly you MUST to be able to log into your Google account. You said "it would not log in". Not sure what that really means, but after the factory reset make sure you have SOLID and known working Wi-Fi connection and try the setup again. Once you have logged in to your Google account, it should offer to restore your apps/settings from the last time your old phone was working correctly. If this doesn't work then download the latest full image from Google and install with flash-all.bat using the instructions on the download page.

i RMA'd my phone and had to factory data reset , i enabled all backup and sync options
i tried to sign in with my google account , the phone froze at installing apps but it only said 6 of 7 apps and froze,i got a new device sign in notification on another device so it signed in but it did not restore my apps
i rebooted the device , it performed a system update,(weird because it was already on 7.1.2)
still no apps ,just stock apps
i reboot still no apps i perform 2 factory date resets and select back up from cloud but now it still only will restore the stock app it will not restore any of my apps
last time i RMA the phone and factory data reset it automaticall reinstalled my apps ,now it won't install the apps it just install the stock apps
how do i get this to install my apps?

When you first boot to 7.1.2, it is normal get a popup screen that says it is finalizing updates or completing system updates (something like that) then the popup goes away. Huawei does not have, or install their "own version" of Android on devices. Your problem now seems limited to the Play Store not restoring your apps? Assuming you are logged into the same Google account, you should still be able to see your apps under the "Library" tab in PS. If they are listed there but not under the "Installed" tab then you have a sync problem with the PS. Try force closing the PS, and then clear data and reboot. You can also check the sync status under Settings>>Accounts>>Google>>App Data. If things look normal there (synced recently), then under the 3 dot menu, REMOVE your account and reboot the phone. Add the account back and re-sync.

ok that is just what they told me the last time i RMA and they updated it to 7.1.1
but the phone does not auto restore my apps it only installs the stock apps and under installed it just shows stock apps
under library ti says not installed on this device and then it lists all the apps i have on all my devices logged into that account but they are not categorized by device they are just all lumped in together
instead of being under headings of the device names
i can force close the play store but i can no longer find the clear cache or clear data option anymore ,all it has now is uninstall updates
where my phone booted and froze during restore and then factory data reset was performed again do you think it overwrote the last cloud backup where it had all my apps with the phone status after the factory data reset
where it was blank except for the stock apps, and would there be a way to restore from an earlier backup

They are all lumped together, because apps are by account, not by device.... so it appears they are still there. Under Settings>>Apps>>Google Play Store you will find "Force Stop" button and right below it "Storage". In Storage is where you Clear Data. No, you didn't overwrite or corrupt anything in the cloud. If it was there (your Apps and Settings) it is still there. You can see for yourself on your Drive Account. Log in, open the Backups folder and you will see a time stamp on your Apps and Settings as well as how many Apps are backed up. If these the ones you want and recent, then eventually your phone will sync and d/l them. If clearing PS data/reboot and removing your account/reboot/reinstate does not work you may need to do a fresh install. Especially since a factory reset did not work...... Not the factory reset in Android.... the wipe/factory reset in recovery mode. By fresh install I mean fully wipe the phone partitions and flash a full Google image using flash-all.bat. You have not mentioned Wi-Fi at all, so I'm assuming you have a bad ass Wi-Fi connection and it is working perfectly during the INITIAL SETUP and that is not a factor.

i have no idea what you just said ,no idea how to do any of that ,this is a stock phone , there is no TWRP
how do you wipe and install and flash full google image

yes i am aware apps are linked to the account but this is still retarded , it should put the apps under heading of which devices they were installed on when logged into that account ,now i got apps for 5 phones ago different carrier apps samsung app and all kinds of other **** ****ting up the list
if google had any god damn common sense they would at least include an option to list by device ,show you which apps you installed on which devices when you were signed into the account this is a really piss poor way of doing things , but then again so is everything google developers do
what makes it even worse is that there are apps in there that were not even installed by the account
but that were previously installed on other devices before you sign in like carrier apps and system apps and manufacturer apps all the preinstalled crapware so if you even sing in on a samsung device even for a minute it all gets sync to the list and there is not way to sort it, you can not filter by device

no it shows nothing when i go to drive this is bull****

i see a list of my devices and it says 6p , and all it says is last backup has the date i got the phone back and do the factory data reset again ,when i click on it it say 16 apps , but stock apps alone are 32 apps
when i do a factory data reset on the phone i see my device and when i click on it it has the same backup date but
it says 32 apps, when i click it on the phone i see a list of the apps but they are just all the stock apps, when i click the backup in google drive it does not show me a list of apps it just says 16 apps which makes no god damn sense at all
the number of apps do not even match in dive and on the phone, one says 32 the other says 16
i can't even get a list what the 16 apps are in drive, on the phone i get a list but it is just stock apps none of the apps i downloaded on the phone from the play store show up
this is ridiculously piss poor there should be a way to list all the backups in chronological that i can select from , select which one i want to restore from , it only lists the last sync which was after a factory data reset so there are no apps why is google so god damn fuking retarded? looks like it just constantly overwrites your backups and only has the last one it made,so if it fails to backup and you do a factory date reset you are screwed because the last backup will be of a black factory reset device and there is no way to go back and select other backups

i see a list of my devices and it says 6p , and all it says is last backup has the date i got the phone back and do the factory data reset again ,when i click on it it say 16 apps , but stock apps alone are 32 apps

this is ridiculously piss poor there should be a way to list all the backups in chronological that i can select from , select which one i want to restore from , it only lists the last sync which was after a factory data reset so there are no apps why is google so god damn fuking retarded? looks like it just constantly overwrites your backups and only has the last one it made,so if it fails to backup and you do a factory date reset you are screwed because the last backup will be of a black factory reset device and there is no way to go back and select other backups

In the time it took to write this long Google rant, you could have downloaded ALL the apps you had on the first phone and be half way through setting them up. I have to say Google backup and restore works pretty well for stock apps and data, and for the additional 20 odd non-market apps I use Titanium Backup. From a fully wiped phone anyone can install the OS and all their personal apps including all shortcuts and widgets in about 45 minutes, so I don't know what you are on about for two days now. If app data is that important to you, then invest in Titanium Backup or Flashfire and rely on yourself for backups.

i can't use titanium backup because this is a stock device with major battery issues that has already been sent for warranty 3 times and been given back to me in the same condition with the same issues,early shut down and ridiculous battery drain
i can't root the device because it will void my apparently utterly useless warranty and i'm not sure i want to even do anything to this device now because it has so many issues with boot loops and early shut downs which i am already having since i got it so why would i want to complicate things and take more risks with it by adding root or custom roms when the damn thing don't even work to begin with, nobody can give a definite answer as to why these issues happen so i would rather wait till someone gets to the bottom of it which will probably be never
backup and restore should be simple and straight forward and reliable
it should show you a list of apps in both drive and on the device that you can restore from
not just list one latest one , this is not rocket science it should be part of the most basic functionality of the OS
and it is a mess there is really no excuse for this at all

Well hopefully the 3rd time is a charm and they actually replaced your battery, which likely is the only thing wrong with the phone. Based on the two main reasons you cited for RMA (early shutdown and poor battery life) you should focus on checking the current battery you have and compare the current capacity your battery has against a new 3,450 mAh battery. If your battery is <85% estimated capacity then the battery is degraded and needs to be replaced. It may be worth your time (and sanity) to just buy a battery and have it replaced at a local repair shop. The battery itself sells for under $20. In a perfect world Google should apologize to you and send you a totally new phone, but after 3 RMA attempts that is not going to happen. In reading the many 6P battery threads here on XDA you will find replacement batteries have completely solved the issues 99% of the time. 4.5-5 hours SOT is pretty standard on a 6P with a healthy battery. As for rooting? Well it is undisputed that even on a stock ROM, a custom kernel like EX Kernel or Franco's even on default settings will provide a significant improvement in battery life, with the added bonus of being able to install root apps like Titanium backup. My advice would be to check the battery and if it tests bad, provide this data to Huawei/Google. If they don't explicitly offer to change the battery, then hang up and just order one yourself and have it installed locally.

probably will be expensive to get installed $20 is cheap but it will probably cost $200 to put in, i hear this device is not easy to open at all
it probably was the battery it had severe battery drain before when i sent it in on MM, but now it has early shut down on top of it since they updated it to 7.1.1 and now to 7.1.2
they made it worse plus it has a big chip on the back bezel and a little chip

Best Way to Back Up All Data and Apps Nexus 6P

I about to redo my phone completely and I still own Titanium Backup Pro, is that still the best way to backup everything or can I simply backups my files (photos, videos, PDF's etc...) and use Google's basic restore apps when I reboot my phone from stock?
I know TB is great but last time I used it, I felt there were some bugs and it couldnt restore some apps which was disturbing. Then in the end, I have no idea what is actually did and did not restore, a real PITA.
It also took forever and felt like it got stuck in some parts.
Are there any downsides to using Google apps restore feature? Not sure if that will also maintain all my game/app data.
I also read some good things about TunesGo Android Backup.

The Google apps restore has improved significantly since MM. I do keep TWRP Nandroid backups offline, but have not used them in ages. I use Google apps restore for all of my Play Store and System apps, and TiBu for the "non market" stuff... maybe ~30 apps? I zip the TiBu folder into a single file (Solid Explorer) and move it offline. When upgrading from 6-7 or 7-8, I just completely wipe the phone, flash a full image, let Google Play restore from the cloud. Then extract and use TiBu zip to restore the remaining apps. Icing is a Nova launcher backup to restore all the shortcuts and widgets, and my setup is 99% there in under one hour from a complete blank slate. I've also been experimenting with FlashFire to make ADB backups offline. Very slick backup tool, in addition to it's primary use of flashing monthly security updates. I have not yet restored a FF backup via ADB yet... I just keep one recent backup as a precaution. As for your other thread on rooting- I only see the upside. I don't see any downside. Android Pay not working irritates many, but I will never use that so not a concern. Why buy a Nexus if you're not going to unlock and root?

So u gave a lot of info and I just want to summarize what I should do to redo my phone as cleanly and quickly as possible, but first can you tell me how you personally differentiate the non-market stuff for TiB? Meaning I have like 200 total apps, so just trying to plan a process here.

Lots of tutorials out there on how to properly wipe and install a fresh stock image onto a blank phone. Probably the best example can be found on the Google webpage where you download the full image. I use Google restore for all system apps plus the apps I have paid for at the Google Play Store. I use TiBu only for those apps from elsewhere that are not backed up or restored by Google restore. It's made easy by TiBu because after Google restore is 100% complete restoring everything it possibly can, I fire up TiBu and use the "Restore Missing Apps" option.

Can't wait to see the day where all the apps (Gapps too) stop asking things you already seen or chosen when you do a factory reset or change your phone.

Ahhhhhhhh perfect, I didnt see that "Restore Missing Apps" last time I did this but that was a looooooooooong time ago... I was just nervous about using TiB again bec last time it kept freezing and it was an exhaustive process and basically I just gave up, pissed me off on a paid app.

Ya seems like every app saves differently so thats why I laugh when people are like, whats the big deal, just redo your phone and only takes an hour.... um no. Maybe if you dont do much and use your phone to check email, calls, and texts and a couple of games but for me its an exhaustive process bec even after you think you restored, there are always some things in the subsequent weeks u find that wasnt restored, missing, or settings are all screwed up. Not a life breaker, but ya, someday maybe they will universally code settings the same way so a backup program can do something like what imaging does in Windows, although Android has many more roms and providers to deal with so u may need some additional steps anyways.

Yes it's a lot of work. For me is never an hour. It's like 3 hours after the android welcome assistant and then several days till I open app by app and setup the settings for each one of them.

Yea that sounds much more realistic... some people try to oversimplify and think they are doing it in an hour but not.... or they just cant tell time.

I still use TiBi pro for backing app all of my apps. It's just quicker in my opinion. Immediately after flashing new images or roms, I just go into batch actions of TiBu and restore all missing apps with data. Takes about ten minutes and all my apps and data are restored.

And I have to add that recently I'm just not rooting anymore...
Currently I have the 6P with open bootloader but just because by bank doesn't support android pay and I don't want to go through this android restore slow process.

You never had it freeze or not restore something properly? That is the one I am most worried about, its a highly frustrating process when an "automated restore" just doesnt finish the job after waiting over an hour, which is what happened last time I used it for my Galaxy S4, tried 3 times too, so I ditched it and used Google restore and dealt with all the settings after manually.

No sir. I've been running TiBu pro on my Nexus 6p since launch. I've flashed almost every factory image/security update after completing a full wipe before each flash, thus removing all of my apps and data along with it. TiBu pulled through every time. I also make sure to do a batch "redo" of all my backups prior to wiping/flashing the device so this way all my apps data are up to date when I restore them. I'd be lost with TiBu!

Oreo battery sucks...reset? And how...?

My wife and I both have experienced sluggishness and really bad battery life since upgrading to Oreo. Outside of the basics like Facebook, I'm not sure we use anything alike (for example I use NovaLauncher, she uses the samsung default, I use the Samsung text app while she uses verizon messaging and so on). But yet we both have the same issues. So, I'm not going to try chasing apps. I've cleared the cache partition on mine with no change.
So, unless anyone has any other suggestions, I think we need to head toward a factory reset.
The big question though...how do I do this and get all my data and apps and text messages, etc back on the phone?

I think that may help. I did a completely clean install through Odin and have experienced none of those issues really. To me, battery feels about the same

You can backup things with Smartswitch which does contacts, messages, images. You should also be able to backup things to the Verizon and Samsung cloud as well.
App settings depends on if the apps use Google Cloud to backup or not. You just have to make sure you've enable that setting in your settings. Go to Settings->Accounts->Backup and restore and ensure the "Back up my data" option is turned on and notice which Google account you're backup up to.
You can select the Google Account option there and look to see what active backups you have enabled and when each app was backed up.
Once you've verified all that, then you can do the factory reset. Come back to the "Backup and Restore" section after you do and make sure "Automatic restore" is turned on. Any apps it could save the settings for will be restored. But be warned: not ALL apps will backup successfully to the Google Cloud so your mileage may vary.
I didn't have to do anything with my phone. I took the update (making sure things were backed up before doing so just in case), and things have been running smooth since. One app was acting a bit flaky but they updated it and it appears to be working correctly now.

Your wifi passwords generally get backed up to Google if you select the proper options for what you want backed up.

I believe SmartSwitch does.

Just want to put it out there that I had AWFUL battery life initially, Google Music and others using waaaay more battery than normal after the in place upgrade and unbearably sluggish (Settings' search would take 30 seconds of spinning wheel at times) . Once I wiped things are finally butter smooth again Now if we can just get Google to fix Maps' bloat..

I'm also not liking the oreo update. I had just done a factory reset 2 weeks before the update came out (talk about bad timing) so i tried not doing it again. The worst has been android Auto. Is is now unusable slow (on chevy headunit). It used to work great, but i think the combination of new versions and oreo have made it to the point i don't even want to used it. Battery hasn't been good either. I guess it's another reset for me.

you can downgrade without issues since the binary stays the same...
