Hi friends, as you all know, the cm10.1 rc2 has just been released. I installed mine through the ROM manager premium app. After downloading the rom, there are options for me to choose such as wipe data and backup, i checked both and hit the install button. After the android recovery screen started up everything went smoothly. Once my N7 booted up, a message showed up saying that Setup wizard stopped. I then return its state to stock unlocked and then root again. After installing rom manager and installing again, i had the same problem. So far anyone has the same problem as me? Thanks for taking the time to look at this thread and answers will be appreciated.
you dont have gapps insstalled: download and install from here: http://goo.im/gapps

It's currently 7am on monday morning, and I have college. I haven't slept at all because my [red lens] defy has been giving me problems.
I've been trying to re-flash CM7 to get a clean install of it, with no frills/apps that I've installed over time.
I've done a factory reset through CWM, and re-flashed CM7.1 from here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=umts_jordan
I've tried finding GApps for this, but to no avail. None of them install properly (CWM says they have, but actually hasn't - It's nowhere on my app drawer/home/manage apps).
I've tried adding an account to sync but when it asks what google products I want to install (such as YouTube, Maps, StreetView), it crashes mentioning "process com.teamdouche.pacman"
That's problem 1
Problem 2 is my Home and Search button no longer work! I've tried everything I could google for, but nothing has helped.
[Edit: they do vibrate, but nothing happens]
Any help on these matters would be much appreciated, as this is really annoying :/ Thanks.
Also I've just realised the apps in Manage Applications are all my old apps, even though I've actually formatted my SD card in CWM since, each has a SD card icon, and is taking up 0.00B space, but I'm just wondering how they even show there..
Did you try flashing the CM7 kernel ?
Or did you mount /system ?
Herpderp Defy.
Here's my About Phone info:
Android Version - 2.3.7
Baseband Version - EPU93_U_00.59.01

Do you have a link to the CM7 Kernel? :S
System is mounted
I've managed to get Market installed, but it only opens once, and when I try to download something it Force Closes, and then after that it force closes when I open it.
Flash stock rom for noow ....
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
dude, restore stock room, and try flashing an official cm7, what i think is that the room that you flashed is corrupted or something like that
1º: Reflash a stock room
2º: Get a official stable CM7 room ( http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=umts_jordan )
3º: Don't forget to wipe all data, cache and dalvik cache.
4º: See if that works and thank me for this
EDIT:
Here is a link to Gapps, just in case (http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip )
good luck with your defy
Hi guys,
I've tried installing CM9 from this post (With OpenGL latest version). For some reason, the status bar is not there! The same thing happened with flashing CM7 and another version of CM9. When I return to rooted stock, the status bar is back. Help????
Also, a popup comes up very very very often that says the process com.android.media has stopped working. Again, this has happened with CM7 and the other CM9 release too. This is prbly because all of the roms I was flashing were update-xxxxxx.zip.
If anyone could just link to a complete 4.0 install that wipes your apps (as opposed to an update), that would be greatly appreciated too.
Thanks,
Mathew

The update- does not mean it is not wiping system for you, because it does. That is just a generic name. But no ROM installer wipes your installed apps, or your system app settings. The only way to do that is with a factory reset. The problems you are having probably indicates you should do one. Back up your installed apps and data by doing a backup with Titanium Backup. Then you can restore them after the reset.
Hello,
I recently rooted my sgs4 gt-i9505 to the goolge edition using a YoTube tutorial on how to do so. Everything worked fine at the start but when I tried to install the PAC man rom, it jus stayed in the loading screen.
I restarted and tried rebooting but to no avail. I went back into the recovery mode and wiped the phone (divlac, cashes and system) then I reinstalled the google rom to find my wifi was not working. I tried the same process again, wipe- reinstall. Now I can't receive calls, the wifi doesn't work, home button only works on double tap, pull down status bar works but nothing in displayed.
My question is, does anyone have any ideas on how I would return my device to normal or know a full proof recovery and rom I can use that will correct these problems.
I am in the UK if that makes any difference.
Thanks for all and any help.
Matt

You could try to go back to stock and check if everything still works there.
Did you flash the correct modem/baseband for the ROM / your carrier? There is a thread in general for all the modems. Chances are with a KitKat ROM you need to update your modem. Read that thread and give it a go. The file is about 15mb and takes a minute to flash in Odin. Failing that go back to stock.
Nothing in status bar: that's what it looks like in stock, you can use 2 fingers for the quick settins. Installl WANAM XPOSED fromwork for more tweaks and options!!
Home button double tap: that's the way it works on the google edition, that's just it. BUT wanam xposed can change this with the Gravity Box module!! You could try the Echoe 2.2 kitkat rom it has xposed pre-installed.
Keep in mind things look blanker and less functional as you no longer have samsung touchwiz which adds a LOT of stuff to the stock experience!
One more thing: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup before flashing ANYTHING at all, you never know when you will need it. Backup the nandroid to your PC also just in case, things go missing/ get deleted! T
Pls help me out guys, im just a newbie. So i flashed the latest nightly CM12.1 and when it booted up, system UI has stopped appeared and i cant get rid of it. I think i didn't re-enable android debugging before flashing it. Is there any way i can enable android debugging before i flash the rom and gapps again? Pls help me out guys. I think i broke my phone.
You don't need to enable debugging, its just that latest cm12.1 build is broken, I just reflashed myself because of that systemui crash, you need to reflash too. You can use version with date 2015-04-16, and then update from the phone using cm integrated updater to version 2015-05-11, because version 2015-05-13 is broken.
Same thing happened to me this morning after I flashed the Nightly of 2015-05-13. I downloaded the Nightly with CyanDelta to reduce the download size and flashed in thorough recovery. After my device booted, I noticed my wallpaper changed and I kept getting "Unfortunately, SystemUI has stopped" error. But it kept showing up every 1-2 seconds making the device unusable. So I just flashed the Nightly of 2015-05-12 which was working and the error stopped showing. Thanks to CyanDelta that keeps a copy of the old Nightly after installing a new one.
I hope that you still have the "stable" Nightly on your device to roll back to the previous Nightly. If you have access to a computer, you might be able to download it directly from CM's website, transfer it thorough USB and flash it with Recovery. That would be the only solution I can come up with beside restoring a NANdroid Backup. But I'm no pro in Android stuff, maybe someone can come up with another solution.

Thanks for the info bro. :good:
Hello everyone!
I have been experiencing a strange issue with almost all the Marshmallow ROMs currently in the development section. The Phone boots, Setup Wizard runs, and in between, the screen freezes/hangs and after 5-10 seconds the phone reboots. Again the setup wizard runs and even if i'm able to complete the wizard, the phone frequently hangs and then reboots.
I had been running Paranoid Android 5.1 ROM before flashing the Marshmallow ROM and this strange issue suddenly started. I have tried to flash stock rom and then flash twrp, then flash the ROM, even wiped everything several times. Still the same issue persists. This is really getting annoying as i have tried 3-4 different ROMs and 2 GApps and still the screen freezes and then phone reboots.
And this happens only on Marshmallow ROMs as i again have currently installed Chroma 5.1.1 ROM and its running smoothly. I am beginning to think of it to be a hardware issue. Can anyone help me solve this?

Flash Frank ROM, Flash Tuxi Gapps from Frank's OP, no one is having any issues now. Also don't forget to do a factory reset if you can even the Internal data.

I have done factory reset several times. Even flashed stock via fastboot multiple times. Done the exact same steps you mentioned. Its not only with Frank ROM actually, i tried another Marshmallow ROM and the same thing happened again.
How is it that Lollipop ROMs are running smooth and Marshmallow ROMs are crashing?

seems like it's Gapps/ ROM problem (with setup wizard)
this my only suggestions:
1. try to flash Frank's M without Gapps > reboot normaly
if this worked, then it's related to Gapps issue...
if it still remains, then
2. Flash ROM, Gapps, wipe, etc.
after that back to home of TWRP > Mount > Mount system > back > Advanced > File manager > go to /system/priv-app
search for folder name related to Setup wizard/ Google setup wizard (NOT GooglePartnerSetup) > delete it > reboot
3. fingercrossed it will bring you to home screen without any problem...
good luck then :fingers-crossed:

Thanks i'll try this out when i get back home. Although i did try flashing just the ROM to see if GApps were causing the issue. Without GApps, the phone booted to the homescreen, but then after 5-10 mins would reboot itself. I don't know may be it has got something to do with temperature? Because i've noticed that the phone becomes very hot when it first boots up on a new ROM(i know its normal for it to get hot). But when i used the phone on a Marshmallow ROM when the phone was NOT hot, it went on pretty well for 20-30 mins and then again rebooted.

Here's another update. I tried the new Chroma Marshmallow ROM and it too had the same issue. The phone hangs/freezes randomly and then reboots. After trying so many ROMs, i think the issue is with hardware itself. None other has reported this issue, nor could i find it anywhere else. I guess i can say that my(and only my) nexus 4 is not compatible with Marshmallow officially and unofficially.
I don't know what kernel Frank's uses but you could always try to flash an alternate kernel. I haven't taken the jump to Marshmallow yet, but it seems TaUrUs and hellsCore support M (I currently use hellsCore with stock L).

I'll try another kernel and ping back.
Probably lacked boot the system before you install GApps.

The FC of Setup Wizard is discussed in the ROM thread of Chroma.
You can try this because it is advised by the Dev of Chroma and supported by many others and I have succeeded with this.
Flash stock L and boot up.
Boot into TWRP (make sure you have the latest) and factory reset.
Flash Chroma 1/11/2015 and Bank's Gapps without boot/reboot in between and no wipe afterwards.
Reboot.

At least for Chroma, that is a wrong approach. No boot between ROM and Gapps flash.
Make sure you have permissions granted to all of the apps. I had similar issues, and had to do with Location and apps making calls to GPS. Would cause a reboot, and not just a force close. Try amending the Location settings as well. All else fails, capture a logcat.
Everyone thanks for your time!
I found the solution. bjb2's suggestion did the trick. I flashed TaUrUs-Mallow Kernel after Frank Marshmallow ROM and everything seems fine now. Have been running Marshmallow since a day without any issues. Still it's curious why the stock kernel gave such errors.
Thanks everyone again for your suggestions and help
