I bought by S4 from an EU website, so i was expecting that the version i got wouldnt match my own region. However i was surprised when i booted it the first time, and found that it didn't ask me which language i wanted to use, it just booted with some eastern european language. I had to borrow someone else S3 to find the language options and change it to english.
I am just wondering if this is normal behavior for the S4? I previously purchase an S3 as a gift, which also arrived with eastern european manuals, but it at least asked about the language when it was booted the first time. The seal on the box was unbroken, but it still got me wondering if the phone had been in use previously.

Thanks. That is weird, i suppose there is a chance that i could have accidentally clicked past it somehow, though it doesnt seem very likely. On the other hand everything in the box seemed pristine and the seal was unbroken, so it also seems very unlikely that someone has been using it

Some shops import mobiles from other countries in order to sell phones at a bit lower price (earning a bit more money)
I think you can find sales code on the box. As example in Denmark it should be GT-I9505ZKANEE ... (if not its imported from Poland or some other Eastern European country).

Anyone know the country of origin of the GSII that Newegg.com is selling?
It doesn't look like it's Europe because in the product picture tour it has what looks to be a US travel charger. Other vendors that sell the GSII show European chargers with a US converter added.
Central, South American maybe?
Bump? Talked to Newegg in an email and they replied made in Korea....sigh.....
Sigh? You rather want one made in china? Remember samsung is in korea.
No, i wanted to know where they imported this phone from not where it was actually manufactured.
Get it from Expansys, they should be shipping UK phones now that supply is keeping up with demand. Tell them you want a UK phone when you place the order and you should be fine. If it ends up being something else, they're easy to work with for exchanges too. They'll also ship the phone back to the UK for you should you ever need warranty work whereas the newegg.com phone is sold without a warranty.
I bought mine from overseaselectronics.com and it came with U.S. samsung OEM charger and last but least it's made in china...but the quality of the phone is top notch, I don't think it's a knock offs....Oh...this version of the phone when you first power on the phone it's in different language as a default.
I just got my SG2 from newegg yesterday. I can't tell where it's from. I guess I'll have to do some more reading to find out what the differences are.

Had the same problem and yes it boots the first time in Chinese.
Touch the bottom right hand part of the screen and a screen will pop up. Hit the settings button (looks like cog wheel) and will take you to the settings. The language is the 4th from the bottom and then another screen pops up. The top arrow has the languages to choose from and your there!
Here's a pic of the settings screen and in Chinese.

It [meaning the HK WIFI & WIFI+3G version] doesn't. Negri Customer Service replied to my question about that yesterday. I think only the Verizon LTE and other LTE models will. Eh, well. I don't have a use for the IR blaster ATM anyway.
I ordered mine in HK with Panamoz.com. On the welcome screen I was able to select English language and then everything was English, nothing Chinese at all (box was sealed).
See my unboxing from Minute 6:30 :
The P6810(wifi only) from Negri is now listed as backorder. They seem to still have the P6800(3g). Glad I got my order in yeterday. They shipped it last night.
why would it be listed as backorder?! is there any flaw in the device?
I assume it is backordered as in out of stock and awaiting new stock.
Yeah, it's probably out of stock. It's been so much in demand. They shipped mine yesterday. I can't wait to get it!
When I went to order mine from Negri last week that day it said it was on backorder, however I checked back later in the day and it was in "Add to Cart"
So for those who want to order , just keep checking the Negri website.
I ordered the P6810 WiFi only and should receive it on Thursday.
Do you guys know if we will have any trouble when the 11.xx mb update is pushed to our HK devices? What do we need to do to make sure we get this update installed on these HK devices?

Well i have allready my device also from NEGRI.
U will get the update where ever u live and u will get no problem.
And 2nd u can flash via odin a US Firmware (when its available) to change ur device CSC from HK to US version.
Just check my History in Froum
I just pulled the trigger on the 7.7 (3G version) from Negri.
Note: Negri has two 'Galaxy Tab 7.7 3G P6800' listings.
-The Black/Gray is showing as backorder with a price of $668.50 -link-
-The White is showing as in stock with a price of $649.50 -link-
I was not aware that the 3G version of the 7.7 came in different colors and I don't understand why there would be a $20 difference. If anything I would have expected the white version to cost more.
Oh and I think it was a different thread, but someone posted a code you can enter to get $30 off at Negri. The code is "Gift" (without the quotes) and it worked when I bought my 7.7 today.

It's hard to tell from the pictures on the site but it's possible the "White" version doesn't have a metal back like the "Black/Grey" version. Maybe that's why the price is different
Hey guys
I have a SGT 10.1 (3G) model, which was bought through Mobicity in Australia. Now i KNOW they source their stock from overseas, but i just spotted yesterday that the HC 3.2 update was available for download?
Now am i getting that pushed because i'm in Australia? Or is it being pushed to the device because it was bought in a specific country thats getting it? (e.g The UK have been receiving it)?
Am just curious, so i can get an idea of when future PUSH updates might be coming to mine.
Updates are being pushed according to origin of the ROM that is on your device.
If you put a given UK carrier rom, you will get this UK carrier updates, and so on.
Well all i've done is root it, not put any custom ROM's on yet....
So how can i tell the origin of the stock ROM on it?
Well if you bought it from a regular carrier and not something like Ebay, you most likely have an Australian version! (no idea what Mobicity is but every carrier have its own ROMs)
What is your current ROM version anyway?
As long as you are on stock ROM, any update will have to go through your carrier for approval and such. So look on their site / ask them for info.

Mobicity is an importer who deals in phones, tablets and accessories. I got my tab through them before Apple sued Samsung to stop selling them locally (nd then I loaded leaked roms)
If you got it from MobiCity like my self I believe you got an Asian ROM
They source the tablet from Hong Kong
So most likely you didn't get an Australian specific ROM

I agree that you won't have an Australian rom on the tablet but just because you get it from Mobicity means that it's from Asia. They seem to source the products from Europe, Asia and USA (depending on avaiability). My Galaxy S 2 came from Europe somewhere, my Galaxy Tab 10.1 came from America I believe and a HTC Desire S I bought for someone came from Asia.
Got my tab from Vodafone. Its going to be 6 months before it'll get 3.2. why not flash? im sure I'll get ics way before if you're willing to wait.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Yeah i figured Mobicity would be buying from Asia. So can i tell which ROM i'm on from the Build Number? Mine says (with 3.2 installed) HTJ85B P7500XWKL1
Thanks
P7500XWKL1:
XW: Poland ROM, with support for deutch, english, spanish, french, italian, and 2 more languages I dont know about (de,en,es,fr,it,pt,tr)
KL1: Built 1st week (1) of December (L) 2011 (K)
I just got my Tab tonight, so forgive me if I'm not posting this right as I've just downloaded the update and its installing, so I can't see my exact screens. All I did was go to the settings menu and check for updates. I had to sign up for a Samsung account first, but then it went right through. It said it was updating to 3.2. And just an observation, but it looks like it may take a bit of time. Mine has been updating for over 5 minutes now and its only at 39%.
Edit: I'm on a Wifi only Tab BTW...

Belsimpel only delivers in the Netherlands and Belgium.
MediaMarkt Nordhorn already has it. The webshop doesn't (4-7 days), but the shop itself does.
Anyway, yes you can just change the language (I do it the other way around, I'm from the Netherlands and buy my phones in Germany.).
Thanks, talked to 5 Media-Markts in my near and they said all "no we dont has it" ...grml, now orderd online and its on his way, bought it from "talkthisway"

Yes I did. Bought it at launch. For the same price as in the US, I got a fast wireless charger, OEM case, Bluetooth speaker, and cash voucher thrown in. Quite a good deal I must say.
I split my time between the US, Europe, and Bangkok. I don't get my phones in the US anymore (from AT&T) because they are locked, have less LTE bands and, most importantly, don't offer dual SIM versions!

That means it was imported from United Arab Emirates. I also think it means you don't have any warranty service in Romania from Samsung.

Well that kind of sucks... I have 2 years of warranty from the seller so no huge issue but still. At least I hope that the quality control for UEA is better then Eastern Europe. Thanks for the reply though.
