Removing static? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey yall! So I am receiving a Glass tr protector from spigen in the next days, i have installed many protectors in the past (only plastic ones). I am a perfectionist and hate even the smallest bubbles or lints, i understand that i get one shot to install this right and i have no problem with the cleaning process and pre installation, but i was reading somewhere that the small lints are attracted by static in the phone, so...any advice on how to minimize this? Maybe its just BS but i dont want to risk it causes once is on, there's no turning back... I know i sound paranoid btw....thanks for any tip!

I need to share what an idiot i am

I've had windows mobile phones for a very long time and im not exactly new to the whole process of using modified roms.
But for the last 2 weeks ive been using Nandroid builds and have been very impressed except for a problem with the screen going off when making a call and not coming back on.
So i just spent the last hour or so trying a couple of android builds and wiping cache etc..
Still the problem was there so i thought sod it lets go back to windows and try it perhaps its hardware related???
So flash a stock windows rom and yes the fault is still there, then i remember about 2 weeks ago I put a new screen protector on, so removed said screen protector.
Phone now works fine screen goes off and on in call as it should when i remove it from my ear etc..
Just wanted to share my idiotic cockup Back to android I go then!
Thanks idiot out!!
It's probably because the screen protector was blocking the proximity sensor. Atleast you have a working HD2.
dude u don't need a screen protector on the HD2, thats for plastic screens, you shame that gorgeous glass 4.3 LCD by using a protector...
It happens
I have tried mamy roms, before I read that Android can't play 720p mkv with full speed
About screen protector. There is original screen protector from HTC company. Good match, no glue, easy application.
Yeah there's really no need for screen protectors on the HD2 as it has gorilla glass and it's really hard to scratch (trust me I've tried ). And if it falls, the phone screen will probably still crack.
I was using an original htc protector. Will try it without for a while see if I get a scratch. Very happy with this android build battery use is better than windows as long as I turn Bluetooth off. Nexushd gingerbread v2.3 tytung

I am using the original htc screen protector and I had this problem too, some time ago. It came out that both the proximity and the ambient light sensors weren't reached by the cloth when cleaning the screen because of the holes above them, so that "dirt" was causing the malfunction.
A thorough cleaning trying to get into the holes with an eyeglasses cleaning cloth solved the problem for me
P.s.: maybe it is an excess of protection...anyway the original htc screen protector is almost invisible and doesn't affect at all the beauty of the screen
But there really isn't a need for the screen protector. The screen won't be scratched by keys or anything of the like. Well maybe a drill or something, but who puts a drill anywhere near there phone? lol.
I've tried thoroughly to scratch my semi-bricked HD2 and I haven't been able to succeed.
hehe, some of the first 'argh help me' threads when the hd2 launched were screen protectors covering the sensor, nice to see we haven't evolved.

Arrrgghh I've scratched it. ALREADY.. :( (the paintwork)

Any tips on touching up the chrome paint work. Dropped it getting out of the car. Scuffed the corners.
Had ordered the cover but hadn't arrived yet. Highly recommend some sort of cover before taking this beauti out.

i hate you
Wrong screen protector and it's on upside down.
of course its upsidedown? better some old screen protector than non.
Any one tips on touching up the plastic chrome edging.
Ouch. Looks like you have the wrong sized screen protector on - it looks the same as mine. Came with my Case-Mate, not sure why they provided the wrong protector. Maybe they hadn't produced the right ones yet and and thought the wrong size was better than nothing.
That my worst fear ..ouch
Too bad the didn't get rid of the crome and go all black like on the nexus s
I did this to my vibrant...did u get at store? If so just swap it. Make something up like randomly rebooting

get a black (not translucent) silicone case, and you are all set.
I did the same thing like second week I had my AT&T Captivate, did not bother me much. No phone is gonna stay scar-free forever
i just want to say:
O dear think its time to use my case

well if you want guys who have lots of paints, and who might be able to cover it, then try looking for one of them game workshop places, they have loads of paints in there and other stuff, I dropped a hd cam year ago and I passed by one of these shops and guy in there found a paint to cover it perfect.....just a thought
pray that the phone starts making awful noises and constantly reboots itself.
Then you have a reason to take it to Samsung repair centre.
The warranty i believe is 2years.
I ordered my cases from 2 ebay Us sellers and still haven't received them. Sad my phone from OK arrived first.

Black One issues

Hello all, I just wanted to share this with everyone. I'm loving my black one, it's absolutely perfect! At least, that's what I thought until 30 minutes ago. As you can see in the title I've been having some problems with my black one. I know there already is a thread "black one not suitable for daily use", or something similar, but a lot of posts in that thread are being treated as trolls and this is a bIt different (no dents or chipping in the corners like the others, but on the back itself)
First of all, it attracts fingerprints VERY easily. Though this is a known problem and I knew this before actually receiving it (and it isn't such a big issue for me), it is worth mentioning (again) for people who still can't decide between silver and black. For me personally, this issue is completely worth it as black is BEAUTIFUL.
Second, a bigger issue, the black is coming off. I've had it for two days (just two!!!) and I can see silver. These are just dots, and they look just like dust. At first I even thought it was dust, but that was until I tried to clean it (first with my shirt, that didn't help so then I grabbed a moist cloth, which didn't work either so I then made the already moist cloth a bit wetter. No difference! hell, I even tried soap that's how desperate I am ). I will attach a photo, but it isn't very good quality because I made it using my One and a dirty mirror. Everything I didn't circle is dust, so you can see how much it looks like dust.
Now you're probably wondering what the hell I did with it, and the answer is completely nothing abnormal. I kept it in the official case when it was going in my pocket or when I was outside, and it got out of the case in it's full glory when at home and at work during breaks. I didn't drop it, it was in my pocket with nothing else (well, just the case), and I have been extremely careful with it, I didn't even let others hold it for more than a minute. What I'm gonna do now is look if it really really really isn't just dust with some more cleaning, then I'll look if a permanent marker hides it and either way I'll buy a skin for it (not a case, I already have one, and my pouch is still on its way, but a skin like a screen protector but for the back too) any suggestions for a good one?
Anyway, this is a warning for anyone considering/owning the back wish me luck with hiding the silver!

Permanent black marker has been mentioned elsewhere, that should do it.

Yea I read that too, but my concern is that it will be another color (slightly darker/lighter) and still be noticeable. Ah well, still better than silver dots on black but it still shouldn't happen IMO. I'm starting to think the case is the cause, because it now has 2 more of those dots after taking it out of the case again

Totally agree that it shouldn't happen, especially just taking it out of a case. I have decided not to have a case for the first time ever, if I get scratches then so be it, adds character to the phone

Wow! Ok I'll be honest at first I thought the issue is only happening on the speaker grill but seeing this. If anyone other than you posted some more issues like this then I am gonna be quite dissappointed on the anodization process of HTC now. Production issue is a good reason for having thin anodized layers but this thin is already way too bad.
I will still be giving HTC a benefit of the doubt here considering that you're the 1st one to post this. It could be a factory defect or there must be some specs of hard object in the case/pocket big enough to damage the back.
Do you have the double dip case? If so, the case's hard plastic inner section can scratch the phone when going on or coming off. Or, as the other user suggests, ensure you don't have dust ir sand particles in your case.
Currently interchangeably using HTC One, BBZ10 and Note 2
The double dip case is awful it gets sand and grit in it very easily. I have managed to scratch my silver version (couldn't wait for the black) on the front around the top of the speaker and several places on the back and side. I actually bought the case before I even had my phone that's how eager I was to protect it. Nothing makes your heart sink more than when you slide the case from your phone and you feel it grind on some grit. I now have it in an otterbox defender (this also has its own issues )

Now I know for sure that the official case was the problem. I haven't put it on anymore and there are no more of those silver dots appearing. I really advise not to buy that case!

Now that is a massive fail if the official case is causing it to scratch, I would contact HTC and see about a replacement and get a refund on the case, totally unacceptable.

Reaaon i never considered the black one. Same thing happened on 3 iphone 5's i had. Its a limitation of the material/process imho. Htc Apple doesnt matter black anodized aluminum is coming of easy

[Q] How many people is this happening to?

Alright, I've had my S4 for about 3 months now. I've never dropped it, never scratched it, its usually in a case with a separate (non glass) screen protector. It still looks brand new.
This morning I was using it in my car in the parking lot of my apartment complex, slip it into my pocket, get out of my car and walk to my room. I took the phone out again and the screen does not work. Just flashes a bunch of colored lines and goes black again. I looked carefully and noticed it was cracked all the way through the LCD panel. The glass itself is unscratched and perfectly smooth. Is this a common problem with this phone? Why did this happen so easily?
Really strange. I hear people having problems like this but can't speak on it because I never experienced it. I like to keep my device protected with a silicone case to absorb shocks just in case I bump into something while it is in my pocket or drop it. Plus a good screen protector.
Those thin hard shell cases are big let downs. They might keep your device looking pretty and thin but they are unreliable.

[NOOB] Window case damage on the screen

Hey there, I just bought the case and on the day of delivery I started reading up about damage to the screen caused by the metal scratching the glass that it comes in contact with. I'm excited to have it but not at the cost of my screen, what are your experiences and what do you recommend?

Even though I don't use my Window case all the time, I don't see any kind of damage on the screen (screen protector actually) from when I used it. I always put my G2 on my back pocket and oftentimes I forget to take it out while sitting down and no damage whatsoever.
Just make sure to install a screen protector.
Cheers!
