System Wallpaper - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

System Wallpaper for 4.2.2 Samsung S4 resides in its own APK file located at /system/app/SecWallpperChooser.apk
I rooted my Canadian (Koodo) S4 with Mottochopper No problems all went smoothly I replaced the SuperUser that mottochopper installed with SuperSu just a personal preference then I installed root explorer and began a search for the wallpapers as I like to tinker and see what I can do. I located the apk in the directory I have lined out for you. I copied the file to my external SD card then copied it to my Computer. I have kept an original copy on my computer just in case things did not work out. I then opened the apk file with 7Zip and extracted the photos out of the folder ...SecWallpaperChooser.apk\res\drawable-sw359dp-xxhdpi\ I replaced the photos with my own exact same size and all then put back in loction on phone and voila they became my wallpaper gallery

I can't transfer files from pc to phone (just inside the folders)

Hi! i did a root with motochopper..and after it when i wanted to transfer a file from pc to a folder of the s 4 i saw a message like this the device stop responding or is disconnected...but when i transfer a file outside the folders i can and its all ok.So i did a reset and i installed the original german firmware that there is on net but after the reset and after i installed this firmware....i cant still transfer files inside the galaxy s 4 folders..but outside them i can.So i guess, is not the root? is a characteristic of the s 4? if not how can i solve this..i have windows 7.
Edit i rooted the phone with another method found on net..now i can put a file in many folder but not in the obb folder..why?
not entirely sure why it is like that. but the easiest fix is to move the file you want to put into obb somewhere else on your phone and then use a root explorer on your device to move it into obb.

Custom battery image

In the jelly beans thread Beanstown106 posted a link to batter image mods to change the picture has anybody got these to work and if so could you explain how I've tried moving systemui.apk and tried flashing them via safe strap and I get nothing

I am having the same problem, but I did find a workaround. Here's what I did:
1. Copied the SystemUI.apk to my extSDCard/download folder, then to my PC from there (I reversed the process for putting it back)
2. Changed the .apk to .zip
3. Extracted the downloaded battery zip file
4. Dragged dropped the images from the downloaded file into the SystemUI.zip. (Making sure to NOT change anything else)
5. Renamed SystemUI.zip back to SystemUI.apk
6. Using Root Explorer, made a copy of the original SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.apk.bak.
7. Copied my modified SystemUI.apk back into it's original location, overwriting the original one.
8. Reboot
I can't say for sure that this will work for you, but I was able to successfully make the change on mine.
I'm still trying to figure out why flashing it through SS didn't work. When I did the install, it gave no errors (that I could see) and showed successful. When I booted back up, I still had the default icon.
Hope this is helpful

Corrupt framework file in the system folder, please help

So I rooted my device, hten followed a guide, that Instructed me to replace two files in the system/framework folder, services.jar and services.odex, i backed them up, but like a fool i backed them up in the same folder, which i can't access, I can restore from CWM and i was actually hoping someone had a system recovery that i could borrow, since i can't seem to figure out how to change the files back within my cwm backup.

Okay, slow down. You can fix this. There are only a few steps:
1. Download the stock odexed rom. You can find it here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712466565
2. Extract the stock rom.
3. Navigate to the system/framework folder
4. Copy services.jar and services.odex to your phone (download folder or anywhere on your sdcard is fine)
5. Since you are rooted, you can use a root file explorer to copy those files to your system/framework folder on your phone. Locate the two files you copied from the stock odex rom on your computer. Paste these into system framework, and overwrite the two existing files (you can use ES file manager or other root browser to accomplish this)
That's it! There are many other ways to do this, but this is probably the simplest.
I'd just flash a custom rom with hotspot though

[Q] Rename Misshaps, File can't be found.

I was cleaning up my SDcard and renaming some files in the process. during this, I forgot that "&" is a no-no when naming files (using Doobloo file manager) and try to rename a video using it.
the problem is that, since then, I can't find the file anywhere. I tried using ES explorer pro and plugging the device on a PC, but no go.
now, I know that the file is there, just unreacheable (adding a & to the name would not delete the file, right?). How can I find it and rename it properly (since it is probably just taking up space this way).
My Device is a Galaxy S4 from Vivo, Brazil (GT-I9505)

ok... i did it this way (using ES file explorer)
1. extract the zip to sd card somewhere
2. under "system/priv-app" > create a folder called "SnapdragonCamera"
3. give the folder "drwxr-xr-x" permissions
4. copy "SnapdragonCamera2.apk" to that folder and give it "-rw-r--r--" permissions
5. copy the "lib" folder (from the zip you've extracted) to "SnapdragonCamera" folder and give it the same permissions as the parent folder has ("drwxr-xr-x")
6. inside the "lib" folder there is also "arm" folder (give it the same "drwxr-xr-x" permissions)
7. inside that "arm" folder there are two ".so" files - give them "-rw-r--r--" permissions
8. reboot
i have to say it's a nice camera and i've used quite a few camera apps so far...
at the first glance - photo quality is the same as with the xdabbeb camera, but i like the UI better...
my device details:
- LG G2 (d802) running somboons stock 30f lollipop rom
- dorimanx kernel (v5.9.2 latest)
- xdabbeb camera and advanced drivers installed
