[Q] Rename Misshaps, File can't be found. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was cleaning up my SDcard and renaming some files in the process. during this, I forgot that "&" is a no-no when naming files (using Doobloo file manager) and try to rename a video using it.
the problem is that, since then, I can't find the file anywhere. I tried using ES explorer pro and plugging the device on a PC, but no go.
now, I know that the file is there, just unreacheable (adding a & to the name would not delete the file, right?). How can I find it and rename it properly (since it is probably just taking up space this way).
My Device is a Galaxy S4 from Vivo, Brazil (GT-I9505)

How to enable copy file into phone directory?

I understand that I can copy file from SD Card to phone directory with Astro File Manager but I have downloaded Version 2.5.2 which comes with ads and there is no option which I can enable the permission to copy file to phone directory.
Can anyone advise me whether what file manager can perform this function as I tried to find Astro Pro in the Android Market but cannot find.

How to install dsp manager?

hi, does anyone know how to install dsp manager to hd2 android? people with native android phones install it via recovery mode, but I don't know how to do this with hd2. here's one thread about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773449
thanks
You put the apk in the root/system/app folder and you put the libaudioflinger.so in the root/system/lib folder and full reboot android and it should work
*if non of the folders exist then create them and if libaudioflinger.so allready exists then overwrite it
I've tried replacing it.. but it does not allow me to replace the file
Use ES File Explorer to mount system data as writable. its free from the market.
open es file explorer, go to settings and pick root options.
I'm currently using ES file explorer.. but i cant check the Mount File System

Hey TheiPhoneKiller!
Where can I find these files? I´ve downloaded this zip file, but I can´t find a libaudioflinger.so in there...
here we go,ive uploaded it for you
thank you, man
Thanks... its working on normal builds, i think this doesn't work with ram edition builds.
ok, i finally tried installing this as instructed and after reboot the phone just stalls at htc logo. i rebooted once more and still the same. so i did a fresh install
edit: apparently my build (jdms) already has dsp manager built in.

* SOLVED * Unable to Backup NST GL (Rooting)

Every copy of noogie.img.gz I get I am unable to extract as all the instructions I have read require. I have tried Winrar and 7zip, but each say the file is broken. I have downloaded the file from three different locations and it's the same story every time. Noogie.img.gz is a 3MB file that I can only view in 7zip. It shows 11 files (boot.scr, boot.script, cfg.bin etc etc). Is this noogie.img.gz the img or do I need to extract the .gz first to acquire an img?
Edit: I finally found a copy that appears to work. Nook-Root-Kit addictivetips . com . The file is 2.2MB and yields a 77MB (noogie.img) file that is associated with WinImage. When viewed in 7zip it shows the same 11 files. I became impatient, I used it, and it worked. The only issue was the "Root Forever" screen was halfway cut off, and it took several attempts to restart the Nook, but all was well.

I can't transfer files from pc to phone (just inside the folders)

Hi! i did a root with motochopper..and after it when i wanted to transfer a file from pc to a folder of the s 4 i saw a message like this the device stop responding or is disconnected...but when i transfer a file outside the folders i can and its all ok.So i did a reset and i installed the original german firmware that there is on net but after the reset and after i installed this firmware....i cant still transfer files inside the galaxy s 4 folders..but outside them i can.So i guess, is not the root? is a characteristic of the s 4? if not how can i solve this..i have windows 7.
Edit i rooted the phone with another method found on net..now i can put a file in many folder but not in the obb folder..why?
not entirely sure why it is like that. but the easiest fix is to move the file you want to put into obb somewhere else on your phone and then use a root explorer on your device to move it into obb.

Good. I presume, you have downloaded the ROM to PC, right?
So, here is the procedure how to sort out your problem:
1. go to ghisler.com or other web page;
2. Download total commander or another file manager;
3. unpack your ROM file;
4. Look carefully into it.
5. Delete any and all files, one by one.
6. Delete original rar archive.
7. Open notepad (or other word processor) on your PC
8. Write at least 150 times the sentence: "I wil NOT download sevreal gigs without thinking what for I am doing this"
9. got to Google Play search for apk named: Samsung S4 Ringtones
I think it will sort out your current problem, and even furthermore, except of the step 9, the procedure shall sort out most of your future problems as well...
