Hey fellas, I just bought my S4 yesterday and rooted it as soon as I got home. I want to flash another ROM to it, but I am afraid the imei might disappear etc.
I have searched the forum but not found a really good answer. Some people claim you only have to copy the EFS folder in root explorer and save it on your SD-card. Some people say you have to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41559366&postcount=2
That didn't work on my i9505 (rooted with CF-auto-root).
So, how do I properly take a backup of the EFS and IMEI stuff before I start playing around with ROMs etc?

I did that, in Terminal Emulator, it finally worked (i had tried it before but it didn't work), so here are the files I have saved now:

I ran the into the same problem with CWM on my N7. It turns out that cwm keeps a set of files in the cwm backup folder called BOB or something along those lines. I think and this is just my guess that cwm compares files it backs up to the files in the BOB folder and only backs up newer files.
Do a search and you'll find others who comment on the issue and it's possible causes. And some, including myself, also had trouble removing cwm backed up files.

Hello
First of all I must say that I am a complete noob at dealing woth custom roms and all that.
A while ago I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I don`t remember exactly how I did it, and I did not take any backups. Yesterday I managed to delete my rom on the phone, so now I cant get past the samsung logo on startup. I have tried to go into recovery mode, but the problem is that I dont have a rom or backup on my phone so I cant do anything. I have tried to plug my phone into my computer to transfer a rom over as a .zip file, but my computer cant access my phone. I am very frustrated since I cant use my phone now .__. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am sorry if my description is poorly, but I cant think of any other way to put it.
Thanks in advanced for any help!

1. You're in the wrong forum!!!! This is for the Galaxy SIV, not the Galaxy Nexus
2. Try to mount your sd/internal memory in recovery to transfer a new rom

I dont think that this is the right place, but anyway, just download your rom, go in the zip file to system/apps and take the dialer apk from there... and switch it with the apk in your phone (you can find it in the system/apps too)

just did it - took Dialer.apk from my ROM and moved back to System\App\ and it doesn't work.
I've done atributs rw-r-r same as the others...
for some reason there are strange files in /system/app/ folder, seems to be some kind of clones of original apps.

Hi ! I purpuse my first custom rom for P7000.
Infortunatly, MtkDroidTool don't work with mt67xx socs, so you have to restore it with TWRP (2.7.8 actually)
Rom is based on the latest software update by Elephone, with many tweaks, tools, better launcher, rooted, Xposed...

I know, i have done that but wont work
Anyone?
I used my computer to unzip then I put it on the sd card without any problem with the given password... Maybe it's just the phone software that is glitchy ? or just the file that is indeed corrupted ? Also really use a computer, because you will have to move the files and the folders anyway...

If root(SuperSu) is installed in system(most likely it is) it won't be gone when you do factory reset. And as long as you have TWRP recovery, you need only few clicks to get root.
I propably can't help you. But about my earlier post, make sure the changes you made to the "update-script" file are saved in zip. I once had same propblem and realized that changes weren't saved even though winrar said so.
