I have owned a Nexus 7 2nd gen for a couple months now and have just started to get random flashes of black (occurs for not even a quarter second) ...
I am wondering what causes this...
I have not damaged the Nexus in any way and bought it brand new..
I have only used CleanRom and PA ROM...
The functionality of the tablet remains great, but the flashes are very annoying ...I have tried clean installing multiple times but the flashes still happen...
Any feedback/solutions would be a big help...
Thanks

The whole screen?
I've noticed black lines when playing Terraria for hours but its only the background of certains areas. I chalked I up as game glitches.
I haven't seen anything outside of that.
Give us some more details.

I had that happen soon enough for a return to be viable. Do some more Google searching and you'll find people who fixed this as a hardware issue. They had to open the back and fiddle a connection. Didn't sound to hard but I just went to best buy instead.
Happy hunting, sorry I don't have a link.

Yea I would exchange it before it is too late. Doesn't seem that troublesome but if it got worse, or worst, disconnected entirely, it would bring bad news.

What specific piece of hardware is causing this?
I still have this issue from time to time ..
I've notices it happens a lot less if I turn off auto brightness and manually turn brightness above 45-50 percent...

Just because you bought it off ebay doesn't mean it doesn't still carry the 1 year manufacturer warranty on the hardware. It would require you to send it in, but worth a shot.
Once you pop the back and start fiddling with hardware, you run the risk of doing enough damage where Asus will void the warranty. I think I would check with Asus first before resorting to hardware modifications.

I am really frustrated with my LG G2 because of the screen problem I encountered. The screen goes up and down, it happens when I over using the phone. I went on LG service center to reset my phone. still no luck, the problem is still there. They think its a software problem. I hope LG will release new software update on G2
To me that seems more like a hardware problem, not a software one.
Can you reproduce the problem at will?
Dude, I think you have a lemon...
Good luck!
It happened when i charged my phone with the screen is on and i always reading manga. maybe the screen is too sensitive. Yea i think this is hardware issue
I have used mine while connected and charging... Never had a problem with that.

Hopefully you're still in your exchange period...swap it out
You are running it completely stock? And you've done a factory reset? If so, it sounds to me like your phone is defective. These phones are so new it should still be under warranty, right?
Just got the same problem as OP last night and I've used it only for 1 month,so now I send my phone to LG service center and they said it was a hardware problem not sure which part but will reply here soon when I got my phone back and tell you all what's the problem...

Got a similar problem. I am unsure if I want to send it back for exchange or just keep it, as there are plenty of reports of owners exchanging G2's just to get another with the same problem. Looks to me to be a software issue - at least with my G2 - as I can get past it by just turning the screen off/on.
Let us know how your G2 turns out.

Lol just swapped it out. We will see how the new one does but so far way way better. Seriously my phone was horrible. I read and read thread after threads today and my case seemed way worse then everyone else's. Like most people's was tolerable, this was intolerable. I'd say 6 out of 10 times u turned on the screen it be messed up.
I showed the best buy mobile guy and he said without a doubt there's a problem. The best place for me to show him was the app drawer, if u held ur finger on the screen it would bounce and randomly select apps, we tried the demo unit and it worked perfectly.
Ill keep u updated on how this baby does.

Well that didn't take long. Started setting the phone up and all was good. Started disabling the apps I don't use and after that it went berserk. I thought Hhmm maybe it's one of the apps causing it so did a factory reset and no it did right off the bat so I'm done. If it wasn't to late tonight I woulda just took it back again. Back to the Note 2.

Yikes - sorry to hear this.
I wondered if my first G2 was worse b/c I aggressively set it up right from the start: disabling apps I don't want, installing a bunch of apps, etc. On G2 #2, I didn't do that and although I've seen this issue surface on my new G2, it has been just a couple of times.
You need to use whatever phone you get the most enjoyment out of. The G2 undeniably has a software glitch that causes this PIA issue. Too bad it didn't work out for you. Good luck with your Note.
I hope LG addresses this issue SOON!!

This happened to a few people here in Thailand. We are posting the issues on a group in facebook.
My iPhone 4s used to bounce all over the place when plugged in to charge.
My G2 hasn't had any hardware issues at all yet. I've had it going on 7 months now. Works perfectly.
My advice is that if you get a replacement or repair and it does it again, never get another LG product again. Just like me an Apple. I'm done with them. There's a guy here who wants his old Note 2 back. I know a guy who had 3 motherboards replaced on his Note 2. The last one broke the screen as the phone was swollen. There's no way of knowing. Its just the luck of the draw with these things.
When you get a really good phone, keep it and use it until it disintegrates. As long as this G2 is fine, I won't part with it for anything.
And yes. This is a hardware issue.

Maybe this can be replaced by the warranty service.
bring it to the service center.. but you will handle the repair.. if your liable for the damage
Please do not laugh at me. This is real.
I just took delivery of a AT&T S4. This is what the previous owner said:
It is only 4 months old. It was working perfect but I took the battery out and when I turned it back on and it won't reboot. It just shows an android laying down and says "no command"
When I opened the box and took the phone out, the green android was on and the phone booted into recovery mode. I tried to reboot from inside the recovery and it always booted into recovery. Frustrated, it shut it off and put it back inside the box.
As soon as I put it back to the box, the phone rebooted by itself. It bypassed the little Android and into AT&T globe logo. Then it prompted me to select the language. Now the phone comes alive!
Just to verify that the box has some magic, I took out 4 other S4 phones I have, 3 AT&T and 1 US Cellular. All of them self-booted after I put them inside the phone box. I have no idea why and how this happened. They do not self-boot in their own boxes.
I tried some other phones. The S2 did not work. One S3 booted, but the other S3 did not self-boot.
I can't explain this. I have another SGH-I777 which does exactly the same thing. But that I777 does not self-boot right away, but randomly.
Have you guys seen this?
I wonder how many people are gonna go try and put their broke phone back in the box
Lol this might be taken down since there's no point of it

I think it should stay. it's pretty amusing
I'll try to make a video when it is quiet....
Former Radioshack employee here. I can confirm this is indeed true. The boxes do have a technical merit about them. During the activation process, I'd read the IMEI off the box, grab a SIM, grab those numbers, and once it went through the activation portal, I could hear the phone turn on through the box. Most customers thought I was playing some kind of joke or trick, but once they saw that the box was sealed, they freaked out. Many people turned and ran out the door, fearing some kind of dark magic or evil force, but it was really just your new two year contract taking your life and soul away from you. The phones in the box knew this, and as stated before, once activated would become self aware.
Here is the Youtube video. Believe or not. I think it is just coincidence somehow.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tymkj6aE7fw&feature=youtu.be
Cheers.
I read that is how they cured Hepatitis C. They put it in the box and out popped a cure.
I mean, I'm sure an NFC tag had nothing to do with the phone magically turning on.
I do not really know. But it happened to fix my S4 which was stuck in recovery forever.
But my Verizon S4 is still stuck at logo....

WOW
may have an NFC chip in the box? Very strange indeed.
I find it odd that we never see what is below the top section of the box. You also do not push any buttons to confirm the device is off.
My guess:
Phone is sleeping and there is an NFC tag that is programmed to reboot the phone.

So basically you still think this is all fake. So be. I'm not going to answer more question.
Also, do me a favor, put your phone in sleep mode. Put it in your box and see if it wakes up?
This is my first video in years and I just wanted to rush it done. I do not gain anything from all this. Now it is waste of my time answering all the questioning....

Until now, who else asked you any questions?
Being a naturally curious person I couldn't let this slide without doing my own test. BLUF: My phone rebooted when placed in the box.
Explanation:
I had to take my Incipio Slim Armor case off to fit it in the box. This is where I noticed just how tight of a fit it was (insert your own jokes). I placed my device in the box and the extended power menu popped up (thanks Sho!) and then the device rebooted.
TLDR The box is so tight it holds the power button down.

Like the title says, is anybody having an issue where something on screen gets selected/checked /pushed randomly and Unintentionally while you're scrolling up or down? It's very random but i can reproduce it within maybe 20 Scrolls. I've never seen it on any phone I've ever used but this one.
I don't know if I should maybe take back the device and get another to see if it's defective.
Its really annoying.
I hope to hear from someone if it happens to them or, if it's never happened. Thanks.

Yes sir I have noticed this, but it doesn't bother me to the point where I would return the phone. I chalk it up to the curved screen
Ok but i hope you don't think I'm talking about the edges. What happens for me is that something will get selected from the middle of the screen where my index finger is swiping. Not talking about accidental presses on the edges.
Not sure if that's what you were referring to. Thanks for letting me know.

I suspect the vast majority of people didn't buy the phone. I suspect they are leasing it. If you bought the phone from Samsung the bootloader is unlocked. Carriers request this stuff. People brick their phones then lie and say something happened to it and want a new phone.

I've actually adjusted the way I swipe and such and it has taken very nicely.. I haven't had this phantom touch for a couple days now but I understand how it is annoying. The phone is so good in so many other aspects that I just adjusted...
I came from a note 3. I needed an upgrade so I got the lgg4. Then v10 came out and I used a jump to get that.. They signed me up for the new jump which gave me 3total.
I didn't like either lg phone and their weird software so I took my v10 in to jump to note5. After time with that beast I thought I had a keeper. But then I used this phone and realized I have more use here than with my note 5. So I jumped again.. I now have one more jump left so I will use my s7 for now because there isn't anything else out there I want.. I'm content with flashing roms on my note 3 because that device is totally beast still.. But with the s7, I absolutely love the thin bezels we have. Love it... Looks amazing with klwp on your homescreen. And the sd card I absolutely needed.. Many videos and pictures with this camera..

If it was a third party theme, then it would go away when I booted into safe mode. It's also there all of the time in every app. It highly unlikely it's not a theme that's causing it.

I bought G6 five days ago. I noticed that I have eight dead pixels on the screen. It's very hard to see them, but I took the phone to store where I bought it because I have one year warranty. They will let me know what they have decided and whether they will accept the complaint. Guys what is your opinion about this case? Pixels are very tiny and do not affect the function of the device, but I see them and they bother me.

Yeah, dead pixels occur on all screens, it happens to all manufacturers.
That doesn't mean you should have to pay for their mistakes. I'm absolutely anal about having a great screen, so even one dead pixel would make me flip my ****.
