[Q] GPS Not Locking - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yes, I know there are multiple threads about this for various phones but none of that troubleshooting has fixed this for me yet.
I have a Razr M, stock. I haven't rooted it, nor unlocked the bootloader. Got it in Oct, and it worked beautifully, including GPS. Locked within seconds. Sometime during the first week of February GPS stopped working. It hasn't worked since. Inside, in a car, outside doesn't make a difference.
I have GPS status installed and it tells me helpful things like 0/22 with the first number always being 0, second number varies. I have used that app to reset the AGPS data and redownload it, no change. Also used it to calibrate the compass, no change. I have tried with Verizon and Google location services off (so just GPS on). I have turned off 4g using a different app. I have do a factory reset of the phone, and today used rsdlite to flash 4.1.2 stock.
I haven't tried any of the t/s that requires root. For example editing the settings files for default location and that kind of thing. I have done that the none root way. Turn it to airplane, reboot, reset AGPS, reboot. Make sure I am outside, turn off airplane mode. Wait five minutes. Growl in frustration.
I did drop it once, in approximately the time frame it stopped working, not sure if it coincided. I haven't blamed it on that yet because everything else works. Screen is fine, all the other radios work (cell, wifi, bluetooth), only way to notice it is a scratch in the case. I have assumed that GPS is sharing a chip and antenna with some of the rest of the radios, so their working would eliminate a hardware failure. Is that correct?
I haven't tried unlocking the bootloader and flashing a new ROM. I thought flashing stock would reflash the radio as well (.xml file has a line for modem). Is this correct? Is it worth unlocking and flashing CM10.1 just to try? I haven't done any of that with this phone, but did quite a bit with my dx, so I am comfortable with the processes.
Or do I need to bite the bullet and call Verizon about a repair, possibly not under warrenty?
Any help appreciated
JS

If your still on dead stock and your gps is not working I'd send it in for a replacement because if you unlock your bootloader kiss your warranty goodbye if if your gps problem was a defect

Motorola Atrix Sleep of Death

I've been having the sleep of Death since I got my atrix I never use wifi so it can't be that it many happens whilst browsing the Internet once finished I lock phone leave come back to it say 5 minutes later and I can't wake the fone so I have to pull the battery out to get it started
Dose anyone else have the happen to them iv tried reset full flash but it's still there
And could I ask what FakeBlurXmppApp.apk is because since I renamed it I ant had a sod?
I think renaming is the reason of problem if it is the only change you did to phone.
Stock roms usually don't have problems like that.
Sorry for not giving you a real help.

Na once I renamed it stopped going into sod
I had the same issue with my Motorola Photon 4G, people are having this issue, I don't understand why it keep doing this, how stupid?
The first time this happened to me I just plugged it in around 60% and went to bed and when I woke up in the morning there was nothing. Even taking the battery out and putting it back in, only the LED cokes on briefly but Jo other signs of booting and the only way I fixed it was by plugging it into a computer, or as I found out the second time an XBOX 360 so I'm thinking just something with a data connection, and pulling it out as soon as the LED flashes green then plugging it into the wall charger. Then the phone came up with the battery charging screen at 0%. After it charged I booted up like normal and it was fine for awhile until one time it died and I had to repeat the process to get it to come back up.
Send it in for a replacement, i had two do this to me and both ended up going out. They were unlocked but once they went out AT&T could not tell.
are you on a stock rom or custom rom? before calling for a new one try flashing 1.2.6 sbf and reroot and unlock the bootloader again.it wont say unlocked when you first flash the sbf reboot and reroot but it still is, itll say the boot loader is already unlocked when you go to unlock it thats fine just reboot and itll be back at the top. im saying this cause i had a similar problem and i couldnt turn the phone on or charge it at all i ended up using a different atrix to charge my battery when i turned it on it was stuck at the dual core boot logo. flashing this sbf fixed my brick and the no charging problem but youll be on the earliest firmware for the phone and have to redo all the rooting process. its worth a try and if it doesnt work then send it back.hope this helps.
I no don't think FakeBlurXmppApp.apk is making my phone sod as I've had it twice today its driving me nuts I don't no what's making it happen in another got no apps installed
Root/unlock causes this
I can tell you the issue is caused by either the unlocking of the bootloader or rooting. I unlocked, rooted, and installed a custom rom my 1st stock atrix and had this issue. I also had a hardware defect with the front camera lens so i returned it to stock via sbf prior to returning it. The problem disappeared. My new atrix worked perfect and after a couple days I unlocked and rooted but left the stock rom. Guess what, sleep of death returned, sbf to stock everything is fine. BTW I was using romracers recovery. So Im not sure if its rooting or unlocking or romracers recovery but it is one of the three. Hope that helps.

i also have similar issues. it has some thing to do with deep sleep mode..as long as phone does not go in to deep sleep as son as screen is off the problem never happens.
so i tried wifi wizard and advanced wifi lock apps from market.wifi wizard switches on wifi when ever the screen is on. advanced wifi lock prevents phone from going into deep sleep.you can set a timeout.this works like a charm.i rarely get sod.

Rooting isn't the cause. My first Atrix was rooted & I never had that problem. My second Atrix started right awaywith the SOD, shortly after the OTA update.
And I'm my opinion, unlocking is absolutely necessary. If I hadn't unlocked my previous Atrix so that my backup applications and data syncing would work properly, I would have really been screwed. But every other day my phone backs up my data and once I'm home, uploads out to my home pc.

May be a little premature, but my current Atrix was have SOD & random reboot issues. I had given up & ordered a replacement. However, I changed the screen time out to never & I haven't had a freeze or reboot yet. I'm on day two & I've made a point to turn my wifi on and off. Hope this solves the problem. Guess I'll know if I make it through next week with no freezes.

SOD Fix
I was SOD free being rooted, BL unlocked, running rom racers recovery, CM7 then Neutrino 2.6 then my phone decided format its internal partition on me. My phone is back up running now and I was getting the SOD a couple times a day. I fixed it by following 1chris89's fix here. I've been SOD free so far on day two running an OC kernel. 1chris89's fix a bit involved, editing the build.prop file, and based on cm7 flavored ROMS, changing the performance settings. Be careful when messing with the build.prop file and make a backup before attempting! Check out Xploited's guide here for a less involved method to fix your SOD. Hope these help!
OK! But... where can I find this "cm7 performance menu"?

I'm on Neutrino 2.6, to get to it I have to put a short cut on one of my home screens. First long press on your home screen and choose shortcut then choose cyanogenmod settings then choose performance settings.
would if i cannot even get into my phone to change the settings. Can someone with skillz put it into something that i can flash [1chris89's fix]?
it my just be a hardware issue for me also, but i did just get my know back from Motorola with a new screen installed.
When my phone does the SoD I can place a call to it, let it ring a few times, and then hang up. My display turns on and I can get get to the launcher to reboot the phone.
The SoD seems to get worse when I'm using the Bluetooth connection to my Sync system in my truck.

How can I get a GPS lock? Please help!

I'm hoping someone can help me. I used to have GPS just fine, but, for some reason, it doesn't lock anymore. I've tried everything (different roms, kernels, basebands, editing the gps.conf, taking off the back cover and putting paper under to contacts), and nothing will give me a lock. I doubt it's a hardware issue, since it used to work before kitkat. I've even tried flashing a 4.2.2 rom, but still nothing.
All of the GPS fix/lock apps that I've tried get 0 satellites. I'm on T-Mobile.
I tried a factory reset to stock and still no GPS signal. I called T-Mobile, and they're sending me a replacement phone.
Woohoo, now I have a GPS lock with the replacement phone. But it has the different screen, so I'm getting the white lines issue

Paired Bluetooth Devices Keep Unpairing

I keep having to reconnect my previously paired bluetooth devices, and I believe this started after upgrading to Marshmallow. Initially, my devices seemed to unpair infrequently, like maybe every 10-14 days. But now, for whatever reason, it is happening more frequently and sometimes daily.
After reading through the forums here and at AC, I thought it might be happening because I rename the devices after I pair them, but that didn't solve the problem when I stopped that.
After Marshmallow, Android Pay required a screen lock to use, which I never had done in the past, so I also enabled Smart Lock and set my paired bluetooth devices as trusted devices. I just disabled all of that (screen lock, android pay and smart lock) so I maybe that will solve the problem, but I suspect it won't.
Anybody have any ideas?
Hi,
I have the exact same issue!
VEry annoying!
Clearing, hard reseting, repairing etc... tried EVERYTHING!
Now i also set smart lock and trusted devices.. Will go to a meeting and back, will test it on the way.

Well, that didn't work for me. I also tried clearing the cache from the boot menu, but it's still dropping my paired BT devices.
My new Square Up Contactless + Chip credit card reader arrived yesterday. Unlike their previous credit card readers that connect through the earphone jack, this one connects through BT. I cannot get it to connect to my XPE, but am able to connect it to my Moto X 2nd Gen.
I really hope this is a Marshmallow issue that will be fixed soon, but the lack of responses has me concerned that it won't.
I tried resetting the network settings and wiping the cache, neither of which fixed it. I decided it was time to do a full factory reset, but that didn't fix it either. Any other ideas?
I going to assume you are unrooted... But either way if you can change your SELinux to permissive that might help your Bluetooth issue there is this app here that might help out

Got the new phone from Motorola a couple of days ago. After reinstalling all my apps and customizations, including renaming my device and the 4 Bluetooth device I connect to, I started to experience the same problem. Not initially, but soon after I turned on the new System UI Tweak option.
So, I turned off the feature and it hasn't happened since. It has been a few days and I have restart (soft reset) several times, which I found would usually trigger the loss of pairing, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it was related to the UI tweaker.

Wifi gets in loop of disconnecting and bluetooth is spotty Does the radio need flash?

Hello,
I got a nexus 6p several weeks ago and the wifi was fine until it took several google updates and then it went to the birds. I've tried going back to 7.1.1 in the hopes of fixing the issue. The random reboots have stopped happening pretty much. So not sure where to go from here.....I have a RMA with Huawei, but still waiting on shipping label. We all know how long this will take.........
Any help is highly appreciated
The random reboots are a bad sign. Usually that means the phone is on its way towards the boot loop of death. If you went back to 7.1.1 flashing everything individually like in the XDA guide then I would try again using the flash-all.bat command instead. It's extremely easy for something to go wrong if you flash everything individually. Google made flashing with the flash-all.bat command pretty much idiot proof which is why I think that method is almost always preferable to what XDA suggests. If you actually did flash with the flash-all.bat command and the bad WiFi issue persists you probably have a hardware issue with your phone. You can also go under settings / Google / Networking and see if there is a WiFi Assistant toggle. If there is set it to the opposite of what it's currently set at and see if that makes any difference.
Well since reinstalling 7.1.2 using Nexus Root Toolkit the phone has only restarted once. Now the wifi is solid when bluetooth is off. But as soon as I turn bluetooth on the phone goes crazy.

Fingerprint hardware not available and screen locks itself immediately!

Hi everyone!
I have a OP 2 for more than one and a half years now and never had any issues with it(stayed stock...) until recently. I didnt update the phone to the latest version and was putting it off, and today in the afternoon when I tried to unlock my phone it said the 'Fingerprint hardware is not available' and after unlocking the phone with the pattern, it IMMEDIATELY LOCKS ITSELF BACK !!! after split second it just locks the screen while everything is working like connection, wifi, messages, notifications, etc. but due to this I cannot access anything on the phone, can't go to settings and switch to onscreen nav bar buttons, can't force stop/wipe cache the com.fingerprints.serviceext either, tried restarting it several times, downloaded the update but can't even install it because the phone just locks!:crying: I have no idea what would fix it and I am avoiding a full reset and wipe on the phone(also based on all i have read, dont think it would fix it anyways)
If anyone knows whats the problem or has dealt with it or knows someone who has, please help me out here on how to fix this and what to do. I did not root it or flash custom ROM's on it yet and never had a flip cover or any sort of case so literally don't know why it happened.
Thanks in advance,
Max
Hi
I had the exact same issue with mine, I was on LineageOS and could access the logs so I was able to determine it was an hardware failure.
Went to a repair shop to replace the home button, and Bam it worked again.
If you didn't flash a custom ROM it is likely an hardware issue just like I had.
