B-bind Failure - Nook Touch General

I rooted my NTG using the NookManager a while back. I didn't have any problems and really hadn't used my NTG until recently. However, today I went to use it and couldn't access the B&N Shop. I proceeded to do an erase and deregister assuming it would just unroot and I could go back to normal. However, now when I go through the registration process at start up I get:
"ERROR: Sorry we're having trouble setting up your NOOK. Please shutdown the device and try again." In the bottom left corner it says "B-bind failure."
I called B&N and they deregistered my device for me. I figured that would fix it, but it still did not. The only thing I can think of was that somehow my serial number is different after the root? Any thoughts on fixing this? I've seen others fix it with a hard reset, but that hasn't worked for me.

Problem solved. I finally managed to interrupt the power cycle 8 times in a row and the original firmware was reinstalled successfully!

[Q] After unrooting I can not get though the initial setup section

Hi.
I have a serious problem using my Nook Touch.
I imported my Nook the last November.
As soon as it arrived at my house I rooted it and then after using it for a week I decided to make it back to the default factory state using the backup I had made before rooting.
I think the unrooting itself was successfully done but when I try to boot my Nook up, I can not get though the initial setup section (the sign part), it says,
Sign in
Error
Sorry we're having trouble setting up your Nook. Please shutdown the device and try again.
If the problem persists, contact Customer Support at 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665).

Then I have no choice but to power it off which doesn't do anything to solve the problem.
Now I have a Nook which is completely unusable in my hands.
I have not read a single book yet after I paid an extra money to import it and waited for it to arrive for 3 weeks...
I am at a loss as to what to do now, so if you can help me in any way I would be really grateful for it.
Force reset it by shutting it down, then starting it up, and when the screen flickers press right and left bottom buttons, hold for 5+ seconds.
This will resolve the problem, if not:
Use nookRestore to restore /system (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1289233)
and then:
Update to 1.1 (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/Soft...uch/379003175/)

Thank you for the reply.
I am sorry, I forgot to mention that I used both the forcefully reset option and the nook restore software, both of them did not change anything.
And it seems that you can not update your firmware unless you completed the initial setup.
So virtually I can not do anything right now.
Just do a data reset (the forced one) without the restore and try it.
I think you can update to the 1.1 not registering, getting into the factory mode:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20121721&postcount=17
and copying the 1.1 update the Nooks flash (not sdcard)
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/Software-Updates-NOOK-Simple-Touch/379003175/
Thank you for the advise!
Now I can go to the Home screen and at least can read something which I put into my Nook.
I am pretty relieved that my Nook is not complete useless.
But I still have that problem of not being able to sign in.
The same message appears every time I try to sign in or create a new account.
It would be great if I could get rid of this problem...

Try this:
Log onto the B&N website with your account (same as you try to sign in on)
Go to My Nook hover the picture and select "Erase and Deregister Device".
Now try to register from the NST again.

[Q] Can't boot after failed update

New stock A500 just out of the box this morning. Booted fine after the recommended 4 hour charge, running 3.0.1. Took the OTA update at the popup and rebooted fine. Checked in system and saw another update was available, downloaded and let it reboot, progress indicater went almost to end and failed. Tab won't boot now, shows status items and clock in lower right and small icon in upper left corner with 2 pulleys labeled "Android System", nothing happens when touching anything or pressing buttons. I've tried the reset button, cleared cache and data, have tried downloading several "update.zip" files and putting them on the SD card then rebooting into recovery. The updates start to install then I get a yellow triangle. I'm sure that there is a solution to this but I couldn't find it!
Thanks in advance,
Bob
EDIT: in addition to not booting since the failed update I have found that the tablet is no longer charging now too. Looks like this thing is going back to the store!

You most likely could put it into fastboot mode and flash it to fix your problem. BUT I WOULD NOT mess with it if it is brand new and you've done nothing to it.
TAKE IT BACK AND GET A NEW ONE
Thanks for the reply, please tell me more about this fastboot option.I have another 13 days to return it to the store so I don't have anything to lose! All of the stores in the area are out of the a500 right now.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
If you start playing around fastboot and flashing you will void your warranty. Take it back while you can and you can honestly tell them that you did nothing to it.
Yeah, I see that the warranty could be an issue later if I did get this tab running now. I did an online chat with Acer support this evening and they indicated to me that they believe the problem to be a hardware failure, they wanted me to send it in but I told them that it's going back Walmart and they can send it back. Thanks again for your help and advice.
Best regards,
Bob

(Bricked) Formatted Drive Nook Glowlight

I had this recycler virus, it made its home on all my storage devices, that's why I formatted all of my usb drives, sd cards and my Nook internal storage to be safe.
It works, I even managed to install Glownooter but the problem is that this screen always prompts me to restart the system.
"YOUR NOOK HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO RESTART"
I have used images to restore to factory firmware, and tried Glownooter and I said and they work on the background but that message won't allow me to do anything, except restarting it or powering it off. If I restart it keeps appearing. Also tried to restore the deleted files but it wasn't
possible, perhaps the software wasn't good I don't know.
Thanks in advance.
When I've seen this message, and reset, occur it's been because my device registration and what BN has stored don't agree, so BN deletes the token on their side and resets my device. Took me a frustrating few nandroid restores of an NC to understand
I don't know that this is what is happening to you, but if you let the device reset, reregister with BN, and then root it and use it (without reimaging it) - does the message recur? It may not, or you may have tried it and it does recur in which case I apologize for asking a silly question.

Whenever I reset it the message keeps appearing, it won't let me go to another screen either to reregister or to do a factory reset.
I followed the advice of a guy in a similar situation, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24537458&postcount=6
I did what he did and eventually ended up stuck on "YOUR NOOK IS STARTING UP". Then I tried the N2T recovery by ros87, and no avail. It still stuck on the "READ FOREVER" screen. I think it's at least a progress but I wish I could manage to fix it.
Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it and I have faith that I this situation will be resolved. More input is more than welcomed.

I'm in a similar situation: did a backup (which I tought to be complete) and rooted succesfully.
Then I tried to go back to stock with my backup to learn it was partially good and I bricked the Nook.
Now I can't get past the "installation failed" screen and I don't know how to revive it. I've tried almost every solution posted to xda and still stuck.
Let me know if you find a solution, pls.

[Q] MyScript Resource Manager Stopped Working

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. Here's the situation:
A few weeks ago, I updated and rooted my SGS4 to 4.4.2 using Odin. Worked alright, but kept getting random restarts. Did a factory reset, and all was good.
A few days ago, PlayStore had an update for SuperSU, so I applied it. The random restarts returned, so I considered doing a factory reset, but found that Titanium Backup wasn't allowing me to do any new backups because I had insufficient space. I didn't really - I had plenty of space. A little googling lead me to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2675778
I followed the instructions, rebooted my phone, and was bombarded with [app] has stopped working right away. Thinking this was no good, and I had somehow messed something important up, I did a factory reset anyway with the hopes of just restoring back to my backups from a few weeks ago.
Things got even worse - I'm now stuck on the Samsung welcome screen, where it wants me to put in my wifi password, but Myscript Resource Manager keeps failing, making the keyboard disappear. I now have no way to get back into my phone.
The TL;DR version:
I factory reset my phone, but can't get past the 'Enter Wifi Password' part of setting it up becuase Myscript Resource Manager keeps failiing.
Things I've tried:
* Wiping Cache data
* Factory Resets (again)
* Reflashing my phone with the 4.4.2 update that worked for me a few weeks ago
Does anyone have any other ideas?
The only way was to reflash from Odin, fresh firmware. Download different version of your firmware, other than the one you stated. And reflash back with Odin, make sure your steps using Odin is correct.
Thanks for the reply. I finally got it working after my third time flashing it and formatting the cache a few times. Scary stuff!
Alas, the sporadic reboot still continues, so I'll have to work out how to fix that problem again now.
Thanks again.

I just had the same problem, spontaneously, from an unidentified source. Went to my carrier's, AT&T, local Device Support Center on a Sunday at noon, and one of the techs fixed the problem in under 3 minutes, impressively simply.
You will have to keep clicking OK when the error message repeatedly appears to continue with this process. That is normal.
Go to Settings > Application Manager > (scroll right to: ) ALL > (scroll down to: ) My Script Resource Manager (which should not be running) > Turn Off
Problem solved without Factory Reset. She impressed me and saved me a lot of time.

Did I bricked my Nook permanently? :(

Hey !
I have a nook simple touch for a long time. It was modified software and worked very well.
Recently, when I tried to charge him after a long break, he warmed up a lot. I opened the case and unplug the battery.
When he cooled down I connected everything again and there was a problem: Installing rom ---> Install Failed
How can I restore the original software?
All my attempts end with "Install Failed!"
He probably tries to restore the software but the recovery partition can be empty. All modifications were made a long time ago and I do not remember the details

Mmm.....that warming up thing does not sound good. But if you want to try to bring the thing back to life, the simplest thing to try first would be to make a NookManager card and try the Factory Restore option. If your NST will boot from the card, then you may have good luck with that.
If that does not work, it might be possible to re-image your NST with the original US software. You can find the details and files for that here: https://sites.google.com/site/xcdguides/nook/nookregion
I've tried both of your tips.
Unfortunately, I still "instll failed". NookManager factory reset happens without effect. After restarting, continue the same
However, the second tip gives me an error in many languages.
