Nice one.
Interestingly this thread is now the number 1 result on that search.
Then a lot of pages of people talking about hypothetical docking stations that connect wirelessly after communicating via NFC.
What would be really nice would be one that could somehow do that while wirelessly charging too.
Looks like now there isn't.
Clearly a lot of people are interested in this so I imagine it is only a matter if time.

Touch HD2 - about microUSB and digital compass

Is reading on the HTC homepage about HD2 specs.
I need one and was wondering about two things.
Does anyone know if standard microUSB means we can connect micro usb
stuff to the phone if we only have the right drivers?
I can think of two accessoars id would like to connect-
-USB handsfree from touch PRO
-some kind of TV out-cable
And there is one question about the digital compass.
will it be like the one that is on the marked now, were you dont have to
have GPS connected?
ps. when will HD get an own section on XDA? after all it is official and all now, and would be better to know were to post this kind of questions. ds.

Straight up, before we even start talking about drivers, there's no way you would be able to phsically connect accessories from the Touch Pro to the HD2 as the Touch Pro is miniUSB and the HD2 microUSB.

Er, I don't quite understand. What do you mean 'like the one that is on the marked now'?
But I can tell you this, a digital compass has nothing at all to do with GPS. The two are completely different.

Just didnt want to say:
Like the one in iPhone 3Gs, but you got my point anyway so thanks for the answer!
We have a magnet on TouchHD, why not a compass?
Hi,
Hats off to all the senior friends who are making lives easy for so many of us
I have a very simple question. The stylus which the company gives with the Touch HD is a magnet. Why can't we have a digital compass using it?
Hope it makes sense

[Q] Wirelessly control the Xoom?

What I'm looking for is this:
Currently I connect my laptop to my TV via VGA and control what I want to watch with the Logitech Air Mouse app on my iPhone. A pretty great solution.
Now with the Xoom I want to take advantage of the HDMI hook up. However I don't want to stand up and walk over to the tablet to pause or change the TV show.
I know I can use DLNA to stream video to my 360. My concern is video quality.
So is there another option that exists? Might be a cool app idea (throwing it out there).
So far as I know nothing like that exists. My guess is a rooting solution will come up with a way to remotely control the entire device. However, with VLC being developed for android it might be possible to use VLC on the Xoom and connect via your phone or PC using a VLC remote. That seems like a good solution to me.
I did a little research. Apparently a Galaxy S can be paired to a Bluetooth mouse? Not certain in what capacity though.
Ideas?

It may work but Galaxy S has touchwiz so that feature may be built on top of android rather than baked into android.

Really doubt that touchwiz is the reason for bluetooth mouse connectivity. Unless there's something I'm missing and there's a reason based on fact that you're making that assumption.

I found a forum answer to your original question
http://androidforums.com/xoom-accessories/289604-bluetooth-mouse.html
and its been known that manufacturer's heavily modify the bluetooth stack on android devices which is why I suggested touchwiz might be the reason it works. For example you cannot connect your wiimote to a lot of HTC sense devices since they have modified the bluetooth stack. Similarly I thought samsung may have added that feature since I haven't seen it as a common feature on most stock Android phones.

UMS-USB Mass Storage Mode

Hi
I'm really impressed with the new S IV and I'm planning to get one. But there is one important question that
hasn't answered yet: The S III didn't support the USB Mass Storage mode, which was really annoying because
my enternainment system in my car does require this to play music from a smartphone. Additionally there was no
possibility to connect with USB to my Mac. The question now is, does the new S IV no support this USB-Mode again?
Thank you in advance and best regards

The S3 had a work around app that you could launch if you were rooted that did UMS. I bet the same app will work for the SGS4 or will be made.

Well my car comes with a AUX plug so I don't need to use the USB Dock. I'm not sure how the app would work I never tried it. If I remember to, I'll plug my SGS3, run the app and see if it picks up. But I don't think it will since 2 external memory cards are technically readable (the internal and my micro SD card) and it will confuse the system.

TV-out cable? - Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7

Hi there. sorry if this has already been asked.
My Dad bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 and wants to connect to the TV. From what I've read there is no MHL, so I guess it's not possible?
I might be wrong though , so I'd be grateful if anyone could provide any ideas or knows of any HDMI cables that will work please!
Kind regards
Jonny

No an option I'm afraid for various reasons. He wants a cable as it's simpler to use.
There is no chance for that............. but you can connect by wi fi......
Don't make purchases without checking specs if you have a particular function you can't live without.
Miracast or Samsung connect may help via Wi-Fi.

Samsung S8 HDMI output

I was using my Samsung Note 4 as the head unit in my car to play music from my SD card by using the HDMI out into an HDMI to optical converter and from there optical out to my processor. It turns out my Note 4 took a dump and it is totally crippled. It locks and reboots itself randomly and frequently. So I was fed up and got a new S8. Today I received the USB Type-C MHL cable for the S8 and no cigar. The last time I had the same issue was when I was trying to get started with my Note 4 and the fix then was to just turn off bluetooth and it was fine. The S8 doesn't care that the bluetooth is on or off, it will not send the signal either way. For what is worth, the converter box is getting power with the new cable as the LED lights up, I think the issue must be with some phone setting. Has anyone encountered similar issues and was able to fix it?
I am left with no music in my car and any help to fix this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
What? Couldn't even comprehend what you talking about.

Use a Bluetooth connection. Sounds like your choice of setup is very complicated.

The goal is to get a digital signal (HDMI) out of my phone, then convert it to another digital signal (optical) so I can use it in another device. The problem at hand is that the phone seems to NOT be sending this HDMI signal out. I had this working before with my Note 4 but the Note 4 is no more. I now have to get it working on the S8 and it seems it doesn't work the same way.

Bluetooth works but that is a compressed signal that has to go through my head unit (garbage) so if I do it that way I get terrible sound quality. doing it the way I described above I get crystal clear sound, which is the goal.

Have you tried connecting it to a TV? That should tell you if the phone is outputting the HDMI signal. If that doesn't work, it should be either the phone or the new cable is faulty.

Thanks, I was thinking about doing that. I'll try it after work tonight and post back.
@fcarpio
Any news? Did it work?
