[Q] MY htc hd2 with android on it - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

hi
i have a htc hd2 tmobile version and its installed with android 2.3.5 and its got a MAGDLR v1.13 and Clockwork v3.1.0.0 courtesy of a friend ... i have never flashed a android before, recently i tried to hard reset and ended up with the phn struck at the htc icon on startup with a white screen... i press hold the power button and see that magdlr has some option like 'flash from usb' and stuff and also i am able to see the option 'ADrecovery' which takes me to clockwork options which has even more options ......
can i just flash the ics veriosn using usb flash option or do i need to have a ext SD to do this ? and wht should i do to flash what all should i download or can i just flash the rom using what's already on my hd2
herez the link to the page of xda which i wanna flash on my phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860)
and pls do tell me what can i do to make my phone work again all that happens is the bootloader loads and my mobile is stuck at a white page with letter HTC across and nothing happens
btw my rom type is NAND i guess coz i see NAND when the boot loader loads
btw pls explain what's a hspl and radio is, i have come across these words while going thru several threads but it made no sense to me
thankyou all in advance

Follow the first link and you should be good to go.
And if your rom is working fine, no need to upgrade anything.

What size /system partition did you use? Make sure it's above the minimum size for the ROM you selected.
Also, right now you're just proving precisely why people such as myself recommend avoiding toolkits. You've run into a problem and you have absolutely no clue how to fix it or what you've done wrong. From your old phones you're used to one button just fixing everything, but that's hardly going to work now.

Tone down your font size, it'll only make people LESS likely to help you. Read the guide in my sig, it should explain all of the terms you need to know and make things clearer. The SD partition is the size of the SD-EXT you created e.g. 1GB. The /system partition is the part of the NAND allocated to system apps. You chose the size of this partition when flashing your recovery of choice. You can edit the size of the partition by reflashing CWM via the HD2 NAND toolkit (this isn't a one-click toolkit so I'm not contradicting myself by recommending it ) and selecting the size your chosen ROM requires.

I thought I was quite nice earlier but right now I have to ask you, are you honestly that stupid? Have you even read any of the previous replies I gave you where the word toolkit was mentioned multiple times? I sincerely hope that the only reason for this is that the translation wasn't very good because otherwise there's not much anyone can do to help you.

Nand boot image problem

Hello guys!
I have a major problem with NAND booting:
I can't boot any of the nand roms, neither with clK, nore with the MagLdr.
Tried and installed lots of nand roms. It does install them but they won't boot:
-in MagLdr it gets stucked on 123456 GO GO GO!
-in clK stucked on [260] -- suspend -- | when I fastboot-continue so it will force boot, I get [168210] ERROR: Invaled boot image header
Tried and installed a winmo6.5 rom and it works perfect.
Anyone encountered this problem before, or does somebody have any ideea how to recover my nand boot image? I really need my AD back
do you make the proper nand partition for the rom you want to flash?

I have the same problem. I used this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
and 220 MB for system partition and 5MB for cache partition.
It's my wife's HD2 and it's the second i try to install Android on. The first was mine it's working perfectly with the same partition sizes. I have really no clue why is not working and my wife is looking for the crowbar right now...
PLEASE HELP!
^ try to redo everything & try the SD version of that ROM if it will boot.
just run it from magldr
Thank you for answering.
I tried to redo everything and got the same results. I'm thinking to go back to Win 6.5 to see if it works for me too, but I'm not sure how to do it... I'm thinking to wipe with Task29 and then to install Win 6.5. Will it work this way?
Many thanks!
EDIT: I've got the WWE 3.14... from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283 and it's working perfectly. I can't believe how easy it was to install win 6.5 again... Just enter bootloader and run the exe... Too bad I can't have ICS on it, but I'm glad it's not bricked and it's working.
Thank you!

Hey! saw you quoted me and since that was an old post, lots of things happened in this long time..
I found out what my problem was: bad blocks on NAND; so i contacted cedesmith-developer of cLK (since he's a romanian like us ) and tried to figure out with him.. we discovered that there were bad blocks on BOOT partition -> so I managed to solve it with the increase of the RECOVERY partition size (to 10MB) - so we actually moved the BOOT partition away from the bads..
worked for a while (especially with small-size system ROMs) then I wanted to get some cocky bigger ROMs and found out I have bads on the USERDATA partition aswell - the reason why, now, I'm getting some nasty spontaneous restarts..
at the moment I'm running an ICS NAND-build (after I ran some time an ICS SD-build) - but with this disadvantage of those restarts..
so, as a conclusion! if you want an ICS build and no headaches, go for a SD-version! with a 10-class SD you'll have no problems; it will run pretty smooth (search for smaller versions)
have a good evening!
Thank you very much!
I think I'll stay with win 6.5 at least for a while and I'll try an SD version of ICS, as you recommended. I have a class 6 SD now, but I will follow your advice and get a class 10 for this. On the other hand, as I said, it's my wife's phone, so she has the last word. I just wish she will never ask for an iPhone... That might be a divorce matter...
I hope this thread will help others too.
Thank you very much again!
Do try using the task29 to wipe your Mobiles internal memory. Be sure to wipe your sd card before this. Then dont install windows mobile 6.5. Flash MAGLDR right away. try installing the CWM and the rom.
Give a thanks if you found this helpful
Thank you, but I already tried that. With no results...

i thought it was decided that anything above a class 4 or 6 would not help and could actually be slower.
i think those fast cards are only for a camera which needs to write as fast as possible.
search here on xda for read write speeds.
get CrystalDiskMark (free) if you want to test the card speeds for yourself.
whatever you decide to get make sure its a good brand of card.
no need to spend money you dont need to
HI. so exactly wat happens? where do u go wrong. and wat happens on those screens? please do mention
Thanks gazzacbr. It's good to know that.
For adil1508: Well... It seems that I didn't do anything wrong... It seems that the phone has too many bad sectors and, after all, is kind of bricked anyway. Even with win 6.5 the phone keeps restarting every 15-20 minutes.

[Q] Help a Noob?

hay folks!
i have a Sony X8 running a modded rom so i'm not a total noob!
but i'm a bit stuck with the HD2!
what is the simplest way for me to get Android on my HD2? (Nand not SD)
info about my HD2
CPU: QUALCOMM(R) 8250B
SPEED: 1024MHz
RAM size: 448 MB
Flash size: 512 MB
Storage size: 181.47 MB
Radio Version: 2.05.51.05_2
(if you guys need any extra info let me know!)
i have read many threads, installed the one click app & bricked my phone (restored it to Stock Rom)
once i have a working Rom Manager & get what updated driver i need i will be fine but i'm stuck getting there
all help is most welcome! i dont want to totally brick my phone trying to get away from this rather disappointing windows OS
Thanks in advance everyone
Subz
Read the sticky posts in all the HD2 Android forums. There are a lot of options, so read until you know enough to decide what you want (there are more options with the HD2 than with normal native Android phones).
Once you know what you want (which bootloader, rom, etc.), read even more until you feel you know what you need to do to get what you want. Then read some more.
All the information you need is right here in the forums, do yourself the favor of reading as much of it as you can, this will avoid a bunch of potential problems, and your next thread being titled something like 'Help pleeeease I bricked it!!!'

the magdlr option looks fine to me (i saw a old youtube video for MAGDLR1.13) but i don't get how i know what "RADIO" i need? (& the video says if i get this wrong i can Brick the phone) if bricked means "have to restore to stock rom" then that's no problem for me, but i don't want to make the phone "DEAD"
i think i will find the rom i want then ask advice about what to do with "radio" after that time so the question is more informed
Subz
That radio brick warning is for tmous phones only, you are immune to that.
Use 2.15.50 radio.
Hspl4 set 2.08.hspl***
Bootloader
USB
Flash radio 2.15.50***
Bootloader
Usb
Flash magldr
Enter magldr, USB flasher
USB
use nand toolkit to set required system partition size
Enter magldr, 8 ad recovery
This starts cwm
In cwm advanced partition SD card (this will wipe the card so save anything you need)
Put the.zip you want to flash on SD
In cwm 'flash zip from SD - choose zip
Restart,
If it hasn't booted after ten minutes pull battery and restart.
*** don't need to touch these again unless you go back to winmo.
Hi
i updated my radio to 2.15.50.14 & i updated to 2.08hspl
can i install MAGDLR & or CLG & keep the current win boot it has also?
last time i tried with the one click tool my phone just hung at the HTC screen & did nothing at boot, (had to restore to stock)
is it best i chose the rom i want to install & do MAGDLR & install new rom at the same time
i'm still open to advice on the best android rom out (Stable & Latest is my preference)
i like the one click install tool but cant find tutorials that dont assume i know what partition size is best & what to expect from MAGDLR & CLG?
not even sure how to boot in to CLG if i did get it installed
advice on ONE straight talking tutorial would be great
love you guys already

there is no 'best' partition size, , if you dont set one big enough for the rom you chose, it wont boot, , if you set one bigger than teh rom you chose, you waste space.
Each rom will tell you in post 1 what system partition size to set.

Now, do you mean CWM or cLK? CWM is for flashing the roms, cLK is an alternative to magldr. do some reading, there's more than one thread that tells you what these all are. My advice would be to stick to magldr and CWM for now. FOrget cLK till you are more experienced.

love is a many splendored thing.
ALso, many tutorials wont mention it as part of the process, but after you have flashed CWM, and before you flash the rom, go into CWM and use 'advanced - partition sd card' (back up anything you dont wanna lose)
this will walk you thru creating an EXT partition on your s card, which acts as internal memory. Doing it now will save you having to do it later and ruin an installed rom.
Thanks for all the help guys!!
i am running android
magdlr & cynogenmod 2.0
all working (but the camera is super crap in this rom)
now i have magdlr i can play with roms
off to investigate typhoon next
i'm sure i will be back at some point asking abut installing CWM (ClockWorkMod?) as this is what i use on my Sony x8
but already with this older Android Rom i have a more useful phone than i had this time yesterday
thanks again for all your help guys!!

[Q] whats the easiest way to install android

Hi, I have the hdc hd2 with spl 3.03.0000 xe, and radio 2.15.161.3.
You maybe able to tell by that that im new to this, but want to install android as i dont like windows 6.5. I've managed to install a stock windows rom with the information i've learned here. But now i need help.
I want to install froyo or gingerbread as ive used these before on other phones.
So what is the easies way to do it and wheres the best place to get the rom from.
Please try to make it as simple as possible, Thanks.
It depends, do you want NAND Android or are you happy with running SD Android? Basically, if you want SD Android it couldn't be simpler. Just go to the SD section, download a build, place the Android folder on the root of your SD card and hit CLRCAD then HARET in the file manager. If you want NAND Android it's still pretty straightforward. Follow this guide and you should be fine. If you find even this guide too complex try using the NAND Toolkit. If you can't use that, don't bother flashing NAND Android and stick with SD Android.
Have you tried using Google? <<< I'm flaming.

Thanks guys after more reading and searching i think i should go the nand root.
This means i need hspl on it it first and i can only install this if i have spl 1.42.0000. Mine says spl-3.03.0000. It also says installing a stock rom will roll this back. I've installed stock win rom yesterday and it didnt touch the spl.
Can i still install hspl with this or do i need it?
Is there a list of available roms on this site?

*sigh* did you read Marvlesz's post about Google? Download HSPL4 and use it to flash HSPL 2.08, no ROM downgrade is necessary. Basically after you've done that it's as simple as flashing MAGLDR, CWM and your ROM (and trust me, all of that won't take you more than 30 minutes at the very most).

Check your device manager did u see mobile device? and is it working?
if not try to Reinstall the WMDC driver?
I used to have this problem too after i reinstall the driver the phone will be detected again.
However if u still can't connect the phone to your PC (it's driver problem, i think).
Try task 29 Change to cLK for me it fixed everything. (using HD2 toolkit is easiest way)
Sorry for being a bit dumb here but stuck again.

danik supersonic v1.0 lite
boxmax.s3.5v8.0.magldr
boxmax.s3.5v8.5.magldr
boxmax.s3.5.v8.5.haret.sd
unzipping the first 3 provide no DAF.exe or install.exe, so stuck there.
unzipped the last and copied to sd card and the phone just stalls on the htc quietly brilliant screen.
What can i try next?

Which guide did you follow? The one I posted or the one which Marvlesz posted? Use the one I posted because the one he posted is outdated. You install CWM then flash the ROM as a zip file. I really have no clue how somebody can find it so difficult to follow simple instructions: DOWNLOAD A NAND ROM, NOT AN SD ROM. You've said that you want a NAND ROM and then you try to flash an SD build? At least have some common sense, please. Unless you have a problem which cannot be solved by reading in the future I refuse to give any more help, because it appears to be hopeless
thanks again i've learned alot more tonight, got my first flash done just waiting for it to load. Last question before i leave you alone Is there a way to tell the difference between which mods are CWM and which wont work.

Basically all ROMs use CWM, other than the DFT Stock Desire ROM. For everything else, just download the MAGLDR version of the ROM if there is one (many ROMs automate MAGLDR/cLK), change your system partition to the required size and flash the ROM.
hi tried downloading 6 roms now
DFT_LEO_NAND_Android
BoxmaX.S3.5.v.8.5.Magldr
For.user.Nand.v8.x
BoxmaX.S3.5.v.8.5.Haret.SD
BoxmaX.S3.5.v.8.0.Magldr
DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113_DAF
Android_2.3.5_Danik_Supersonic_v.1.0_Lite
Put all of them on the memory card and it only recogognises the Danik one when i go to choose zip from sd card.
When i try to load that it goes through ok till i reboot then it freezes at the HTC screen.

Follow this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16528026&postcount=7 شبر بـ شبر and you should have Android by the end of its steps.
(btw, post reported)
I've said thanks before for his help. Ive asked for the difference between mods and how to differenciate them, i cant work out out why only 1 out of 6 is recognised. And i've downloaded the magdlr versions as suggested.
Then he calls me f*cking stupid. Think i have every right to be p*ssed off.
What do you mean by "Difference between mods" ? All mods come in a .zip package that is flashed in CWM.
When you download something (any mod, rom, kernel or anything) off the NAND section (this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928 ) it is going to be a flashable CWM. (Unless noted)
But when you download something off the SD section ( this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735) it is going to be ... well ... to be put on the sd without flashing.
Is this what you are asking for ?
Nigeldg said:
Which guide did you follow? The one I posted or the one which Marvlesz posted? Use the one I posted because the one he posted is outdated. You install CWM then flash the ROM as a zip file. I really have no clue how somebody can find it so difficult to follow simple instructions: DOWNLOAD A NAND ROM, NOT AN SD ROM. You've said that you want a NAND ROM and then you try to flash an SD build? At least have some common sense, please. Unless you have a problem which cannot be solved by reading in the future I refuse to give any more help, because it appears to be hopeless

Sorry, but I have every right to call you stupid too. I even posted DOWNLOAD A NAND ROM, and you go on and download ROMs from the SD section? It's frankly pathetic if you can't do that little reading, and if I were you I wouldn't bother flashing anything in the future. You're lucky you have a pretty much unbrickable device, because if you didn't I'm sure you would be sitting right there with a useless piece of hardware right now.
Thanks Marvlesz, thats got me sorted, the problem was when he said just download the "MAGLDR version", i thought anything with that in the name was the correct one. I'm not here to get into a slanging game so i'll just leave it that.
Thanks again.

[Q] TouchWizMOD v1.1 [DataOnExt][NativeSD] installation issues !

Hi everyone !
As the title of my thread may suggest I have problems installing this Rom. This installation via Clockwork doesn't seem to go wrong but once I first boot it the HTC screen appears and the screen turns black.
My question is : - could it be linked to the partitioning of my SD as I'm not sure that my ext4 part is recognized or is it bécasse I have a French HD2 and I'm supposed to install it differently than with MAGLDR ?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Long live the HD2 !
Hi!
Did you install the ROM on NAND, DataOnExt or NativeSD? You might be trying to boot the wrong "place" (I mean eg. trying to boot into NAND but you installed it onto NativeSD).
I shouldn't be a problem that you have a french phone.

Hi!
Thanks for your answer first.
I tries every possibility to install it but everytime the first boot happens i have a New htc black and Green and I don't even have the android animation, the screen is just on but black and the physical buttons are lighted on.
Hmm interesting. Make sure you have the latest CWM on your phone. Alternatively you can try flashing the ROM using the SD build of TWRP by kokotas from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120297
Does this happen to you after installing any other rom? Try another one (e.g. on NativeSD) just to see wether it works.

Are you using Magldr or cLK? Is there a chance your boot process is trying to go to sd card instead of nand or the other way?
Beyond the above, the likely problem is a system partition which is too small.
Double check the ROM's minimum requirements and make your system partition bigger (add at least 10 MB, more if installing dataonext option. Your device likely has some bad blocks and you need to allow more room for this one.

Hi,
I'm using Magldr and I tried every way of installing it. The only progress I've made is trying to install the Nand version (even though it doesn't correspond to my phone's version). When I do it, I see an android screen after the HTC one but nothing happens afterwards.

[Q] need help:Move from Gingerbread 2.3.5 SD to MIUI

Hi,
I have Gingerbread 2.3.5 (Nexus) as the only Operation System on my HD2. It crashes when I use some application e.g. Scan my SD card for medias, using a music player. Now I want to switch to a better ROM like MIUI (that's what I've heard). How can I do that?
Please consider that:
- I'm beginner
- I have only Android (No Windows)
- I have HSLP v 3.* (A version of MIUI which I downloaded and tried to install, only support HSPL v 2.* or bellow)
I will appreciate any kinds of help.
Thanks,
Mas
what loader do you have?
anyways check out the link below & give them a good read, it might help

If I'm not mistaken, this is the bootloader and other info which I have:
LEO100 HX-BC SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-1.5.0.1
SPL 3.03
RADIO-2.15.50.14
And bytheway, it seems that I made a mistake in my subject. In the bootloader menu it says "NAND Android"

Either I'm new, or that phone's details look weird.
Where did you get it from? And if you're a beginner, how did you manage to get Android on it?

Well! I asked (and paid) someone to install it for me
I'm thinking about re-installing a Windows and then install an android on my SD card if I don't have any other options.
You've been given a fake I think. The HD2 doesn't have HBOOT or S-ON/OFF in the bootloader.

http://s.taobao.com/search?q=HTC+HD...rceId=tb.index&spm=1.1000386.5803581.d4908513
haha. Well I got it as a brand new phone some times ago by myself and was using Windows phone but recently asked from someone to install Andorid on it so it is not a fake.
I wonder to know if there is a way to return my windows phone back and then install an Android on its SD card.

Could you upload pictures of the screens where u see that stuff?
And to return to winmo 6.5,
1. downlad the rom from htc.com
2. boot into the bootloader ( to do this, turn off the phone, turn it on while holding the volume down and power key until u boot into the bootloader )
3. Connect your phone to the pc using the usb
4. The 'serial' word should change to 'usb', at this point, just run the rom.
All this is assuming you have a HD2.

Thanks for your reply and assumption!
I have a question though, do I need to do task29 first then do your 1-4 steps?
I won't face any problem due to the version of my SPL etc?

Hi, I would use task29, as it wipes the internal memory clean. Do note that some people have bad blocks ( a bit of corrupted memory ) after using task29. But i have used it alot and never faced this issue, If u havnt done it before, no harm it using it.

tnx.
I will try task29 and lets see what will happen.
As you can see in the title, I have a NAND Gingerbread 2.3.5 (Nexus) and I'm not very happy with it so I want to recover my winmo 6.5 and then install another rom of Androdi on my SD. Am I in the right path?
- task29
- put the stock rom on my SD
- reboot and install the winmo 6.5
regards,
Masood
its basically task29, then u boot into the bootloader, ( because the internal memory is wiped, nothing else u can boot into ), then u connect the phone to the pc using the usb, then just run the rom u downloaded, its an executable. If it reads the phone ( which it will ) it will automatically install winmo 6.5
And just to inform you, u have a really really old rom. After winmo 6.5, i suggest u install one of the latest gingerbread roms. I use Typhoon's rom, its really fast and smooth and bugfree. PERFECT for everyday use

How can I move to Typhoon Rom then? Do I need to remove everything?
As you might remember, I have a Nexus 2.3.5 NAND on my HD2.

Alright. U have android 2.3.5. Thats really old. You will have to answer some questions,
1) Do you have clockworkmod recovery( CWR ) installed?
2) Did u flash the rom yourself? Are you familiar with the whole flashing process?
I'm guessing you already have MAGLDR bootloader installed. And you dont need to remove everything. You will be adding a few things, thats all.
Btw, you will have to make backups of everything you need. Eg, stuff on your sd card, pics and all. And your SD card WILL BE WIPED CLEAN.
I JUST READ YOUR OLD POST. lol sorry
If you have MAGLDR installed, Which probably is, you dont need task29. Its quite simple from there actually
