hay folks!
i have a Sony X8 running a modded rom so i'm not a total noob!
but i'm a bit stuck with the HD2!
what is the simplest way for me to get Android on my HD2? (Nand not SD)
info about my HD2
CPU: QUALCOMM(R) 8250B
SPEED: 1024MHz
RAM size: 448 MB
Flash size: 512 MB
Storage size: 181.47 MB
Radio Version: 2.05.51.05_2
(if you guys need any extra info let me know!)
i have read many threads, installed the one click app & bricked my phone (restored it to Stock Rom)
once i have a working Rom Manager & get what updated driver i need i will be fine but i'm stuck getting there
all help is most welcome! i dont want to totally brick my phone trying to get away from this rather disappointing windows OS
Thanks in advance everyone

Read the sticky posts in all the HD2 Android forums. There are a lot of options, so read until you know enough to decide what you want (there are more options with the HD2 than with normal native Android phones).
Once you know what you want (which bootloader, rom, etc.), read even more until you feel you know what you need to do to get what you want. Then read some more.
All the information you need is right here in the forums, do yourself the favor of reading as much of it as you can, this will avoid a bunch of potential problems, and your next thread being titled something like 'Help pleeeease I bricked it!!!'

the magdlr option looks fine to me (i saw a old youtube video for MAGDLR1.13) but i don't get how i know what "RADIO" i need? (& the video says if i get this wrong i can Brick the phone) if bricked means "have to restore to stock rom" then that's no problem for me, but i don't want to make the phone "DEAD"
i think i will find the rom i want then ask advice about what to do with "radio" after that time so the question is more informed
Subz
That radio brick warning is for tmous phones only, you are immune to that.
Use 2.15.50 radio.
Hspl4 set 2.08.hspl***
Bootloader
USB
Flash radio 2.15.50***
Bootloader
Usb
Flash magldr
Enter magldr, USB flasher
USB
use nand toolkit to set required system partition size
Enter magldr, 8 ad recovery
This starts cwm
In cwm advanced partition SD card (this will wipe the card so save anything you need)
Put the.zip you want to flash on SD
In cwm 'flash zip from SD - choose zip
Restart,
If it hasn't booted after ten minutes pull battery and restart.
*** don't need to touch these again unless you go back to winmo.
Hi
i updated my radio to 2.15.50.14 & i updated to 2.08hspl
can i install MAGDLR & or CLG & keep the current win boot it has also?
last time i tried with the one click tool my phone just hung at the HTC screen & did nothing at boot, (had to restore to stock)
is it best i chose the rom i want to install & do MAGDLR & install new rom at the same time
i'm still open to advice on the best android rom out (Stable & Latest is my preference)
i like the one click install tool but cant find tutorials that dont assume i know what partition size is best & what to expect from MAGDLR & CLG?
not even sure how to boot in to CLG if i did get it installed
advice on ONE straight talking tutorial would be great
love you guys already

you onyl have to install magldr once. you can keep changing roms and partition sizes without reflashing magldr.

there is no 'best' partition size, , if you dont set one big enough for the rom you chose, it wont boot, , if you set one bigger than teh rom you chose, you waste space.
Each rom will tell you in post 1 what system partition size to set.
not even sure how to boot in to CLG if i did get it installed

Now, do you mean CWM or cLK? CWM is for flashing the roms, cLK is an alternative to magldr. do some reading, there's more than one thread that tells you what these all are. My advice would be to stick to magldr and CWM for now. FOrget cLK till you are more experienced.

love is a many splendored thing.
ALso, many tutorials wont mention it as part of the process, but after you have flashed CWM, and before you flash the rom, go into CWM and use 'advanced - partition sd card' (back up anything you dont wanna lose)
this will walk you thru creating an EXT partition on your s card, which acts as internal memory. Doing it now will save you having to do it later and ruin an installed rom.
Thanks for all the help guys!!
i am running android
magdlr & cynogenmod 2.0
all working (but the camera is super crap in this rom)
now i have magdlr i can play with roms
off to investigate typhoon next
i'm sure i will be back at some point asking abut installing CWM (ClockWorkMod?) as this is what i use on my Sony x8
but already with this older Android Rom i have a more useful phone than i had this time yesterday
thanks again for all your help guys!!
off to give some thanks

I had the same issue. Try loading an official WM6.5 rom. Dont task29. Then load magldr, then CWM them flash build of choice. you should be fine.
Let me know if it works for you please.

Hope this is helpful.
As Nick.C has pointed out CWM = ClockWorkMod Recovery. Im assuming this is the method you are using to flash your builds.
I did not mean for u not to use task29 at all. Follow the steps below and all should be well.
1. Task29 to remove Windows Phone 7
2. Flash official WM6.5 Build (DO NOT Task29)
3. Download and use SD Formatter 3.0 to format SD Card. Set option to Full Erase and Size adjustment to ON.
4. Install MGLDR 1.13
5. Flash CWM
6. Flash your favorite android build.
just to be sure...after flash official rom...i think i need to hspl before flash maglrd
i know i should read mag installation guide...but...im stuck in highway and im too lazy to find it hehehe

If you have flashed custom roms before, then you already have HSPL installed, because u cant flash custom roms without it. HSPL is always there until you remove it, even if you flash an official or custom rom.
To flash MGLDR - Boot into the boot loader screen (Multi Color Screen) and then flash MGLDR
To flash CWM - Boot into MGLDR and select usb flasher then flash CWM. Some chefs have there own custom CWM so read there instruction so u will know if you will use the original CWM or their version.
sd card block size?
Thread moved to Q&A.
hey guys i just got my htc hd2 and ive been playing with it lately but i cant seem to "crack the code" of this whole customization thing
i have been reading the guides and its been confusing and more confusing and more confusing now im completely lost cause i have no idea where the radio is coming from the custom rom or the file names that are mentioned in the guide. no doubt i feel dumb and retarded but a little help would be appreciated please and thank you.
i have htc hd2 t-mobile north america 1024 mb
i have installed hspl through the tool kit dont know if it worked or not i tried check it all looks the same to me. i dont know what to do next through the tool kit or the guides im trying to install cm7 nightly fingers crossed and still trying and phone isnt bricked. so any help would be great cause i have no understanding of what is going on at all like i am out, totally out of my mind trying to figure out the terms and procedures.
if anybody could point me to an extremely noob guide that would be great cause i read some and my brain is dead.
thanks alot appreciated to the max

You have to be careful when flashing the radio on a tmous model. This is where you can brick your phone. Do not use the radio that is used in the guide. I think it is not compatible Ruth the tmous hd2. Read here about it when you do not know what your doing. You should not start flashing before you understood everything what you do.
This is a step by step guide which you would have found when reading the stickies....

alright...calm down. Before you want to embark on any customization, ensure you have the correct HSPL and a radio on your phone. First enter the bootloader. Check your current SPL version. It should read HSPL2.08 if you have flashed HSPL correctly. If its correct, download and flash Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14** (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787). If you want to flash any another radio, ensure it is a .50 version(x.xx.50.xx**) After flashing the radio, enter the bootloader and check if the HSPL and radio is correct before you move on. If you want to flash a custom WM rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534), please do. Ensure that the ROM is compatible with the TMOUS HD2 (compatibility will normally be stated in the first post). A complete and detailed guide on all of the above can be found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614).
I understand that you want CM7 on your phone. To play safe, i recommend that you stick with windows mobile and tinker with a SD Android build before you to venture into dual booting WP7 and android.
Download an Android SD build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735). I am using AmeriCan Android (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652). After extracting, copy the Android Folder into the root of your sd card. Boot into WM, navigate to the Android folder using the file explorer and tap 'clrcad' followed by 'haret'. Android will now boot(first boot will take some time).
Hope this helps and like what rauschkugl said, kindly do some research and reading first. Try the tutorials out and after you are comfortable with flashing, you can move on to WP7, NAND android and dual booting between Wp7 and SD Android: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17282874&postcount=3 (ignore step 1).
Gd luck flashing and enjoy!. Do ask if you are really unsure of something.

update i have installed my first nand cm7 rom feels awesome thanks alot everybody.
any good roms or suggestions for ones with good gps and battery life ?
did you install clockworkmod. if not you should do it because all new roms need it to be installed. i'm running ndt miui right now and for the last 5 month or something like that. tried a lot of roms but battery life on miui in comparison to cm7 was a lot better for me. it also has some nice features that cm doesn't have. but you should try it on your own.
i really can recommend the ndt roms from langthan. he gives great support in his threads and the roms are fast and stable.

to make a clean install you can begin from start (task 29, flash radio etc.)
but to be more practical, if you flash with the same nand partition size you can wipe data factory reset from ad recovery and you can flash new rom.
if they have different nand sizes then you just wipe data factory reset from recovery then apply new cwm partition using usb flasher, then flash new rom.
but all rom cookers recommend clean installation (including reformatting and repartitioning sd)

clockworkmod is for installing roms without the need of a pc. you can also backup your whole rom and restore it. so it is very usefull.
you would have to got to magldr to install it. then you can start cwm by selecting ad recovery in magldr. then cwm will start. if you want to install a rom now all you have to do is put the zip file of the rom to the root of your sd card and select install zip from sd in cwm menu. then chose your rom zip and your done. all new roms use cwm installable zips. so this is the only way to get able to use new roms.
after tonnes and days of reading and digging out infos from this forum, i tried as much as i could to follow instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
but then, something went wrong and now my HD2 is not booting up. it is now stucked at the HTC splash screen. i can reboot to get the MAGLDR however.
what i did was, i flashed MAGLDR, as in the first step in the link above.
then i flashed this android ROM:
MAGLDR_Android_2.3.5_Runny.rar
from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298188
and then the problem started. i'm now searching for a way to recover my phone to the original condition, which was windows mobile. or even better, someone help me solve this and my phone can continue in android. i really need the android because the WolfRam alpha app is not available for windows mobile.
help me please, i'm nearing exams and i need help in my calculus so i decided to take the risk but unfortunately i'm now phoneless and going out of my mind.
thanks in advance
correct spl?
correct radio?
correct partition size?
Radio 2.15.50.14
HARDSPL 2.08
i didn't check the partition, how do i check that?
when you flashed CWM you chose a partition size based on the stated size for the rom you want to flash. it will be in the first post of that roms thread. Use teh nand toolkit, is teh easy way.
EDIT - oh wait, forget that, that rom provides its own cwm, , you have a 265meg system partition, so probably not that, (unless you missed out steps
Download archive with the MAGLDR loader and Recovery from here than unpack its content.
and
Run DAF.exe from MAGLDR_Recovery folder)
still stucked at the black screen with the green HTC words. i tried several times already and it won't start up.
is it possible to wipe the whole thing installed in the phone, and install android to it?
If you flashed magldr then it's all already gone.
I'd try a different rom. Maybe its simply that that rom doesn't like your phone for whatever reason.
Pick a rom
Enter magldr - USB flasher
Flash required partition size using the nand toolkit
Enter magldr option 8 ad recivery
Choose flash zip from SD - choose zip
Probably a stupid suggestion - but have you checked the battery pins? Make sure they're not bent in anyway and that the'yre making contact with the battery.
@samsamuel;
you were right, the ROM hated me :'(
i changed to using the coredroid ROM and everything worked thank you very much!!
@MrFoxx;
i checked the battery pins, and they were indeed bent! but it didn't give me any problem
Hi guys,
I bought a HTC HD2 from Ebay and it had Android NexusHD-2-Gingerbread V3.0 NAND already on it. But I want to put NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.2 on it now and I couldnt find a complete tutorial on how to do it most tutorials just explain certain parts e.g. installing clockworkmod, MAGLDR etc.
So do I have to factory reset the phone and then put ICS on it or can i just upgrade it?
Thanks in advance.
Maybe read at first this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
I start allways with task29, install magldr (or clk), recovery with 5/200/5 (for Rom you want to install).
Make backup your SD-card and to partition the right way (with 1gb ext3 or ext4)
Afterwards copy the ROM zip to your sd card and install.
This is only a short way to go ahead with Android Rom flashing.
More detailed tutorials you will find .
If you stuck on some point, let us know..

Hi,

Please consider that:
- I'm beginner
- I have only Android (No Windows)
- I have HSLP v 3.* (A version of MIUI which I downloaded and tried to install, only support HSPL v 2.* or bellow)
I will appreciate any kinds of help.

You've been given a fake I think. The HD2 doesn't have HBOOT or S-ON/OFF in the bootloader.

Could you upload pictures of the screens where u see that stuff?
And to return to winmo 6.5,
1. downlad the rom from htc.com
2. boot into the bootloader ( to do this, turn off the phone, turn it on while holding the volume down and power key until u boot into the bootloader )
3. Connect your phone to the pc using the usb
4. The 'serial' word should change to 'usb', at this point, just run the rom.
All this is assuming you have a HD2.

4. The 'serial' word should change to 'usb', at this point, just run the rom.
All this is assuming you have a HD2.

Thanks for your reply and assumption!
I have a question though, do I need to do task29 first then do your 1-4 steps?
I won't face any problem due to the version of my SPL etc?

Hi, I would use task29, as it wipes the internal memory clean. Do note that some people have bad blocks ( a bit of corrupted memory ) after using task29. But i have used it alot and never faced this issue, If u havnt done it before, no harm it using it.

tnx.
I will try task29 and lets see what will happen.
As you can see in the title, I have a NAND Gingerbread 2.3.5 (Nexus) and I'm not very happy with it so I want to recover my winmo 6.5 and then install another rom of Androdi on my SD. Am I in the right path?
- task29
- put the stock rom on my SD
- reboot and install the winmo 6.5
regards,
Masood
its basically task29, then u boot into the bootloader, ( because the internal memory is wiped, nothing else u can boot into ), then u connect the phone to the pc using the usb, then just run the rom u downloaded, its an executable. If it reads the phone ( which it will ) it will automatically install winmo 6.5
And just to inform you, u have a really really old rom. After winmo 6.5, i suggest u install one of the latest gingerbread roms. I use Typhoon's rom, its really fast and smooth and bugfree. PERFECT for everyday use

How can I move to Typhoon Rom then? Do I need to remove everything?
As you might remember, I have a Nexus 2.3.5 NAND on my HD2.

Alright. U have android 2.3.5. Thats really old. You will have to answer some questions,
1) Do you have clockworkmod recovery( CWR ) installed?
2) Did u flash the rom yourself? Are you familiar with the whole flashing process?
I'm guessing you already have MAGLDR bootloader installed. And you dont need to remove everything. You will be adding a few things, thats all.
Btw, you will have to make backups of everything you need. Eg, stuff on your sd card, pics and all. And your SD card WILL BE WIPED CLEAN.
I JUST READ YOUR OLD POST. lol sorry
If you have MAGLDR installed, Which probably is, you dont need task29. Its quite simple from there actually
