[Q] Nexus 10 has to fully recharge? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA,
I just got my Nexus 10 a few weeks ago, and since now it never completely ran out of battery.. However, now that it did I see that when I try to start it up even after a few hours of charging it just shows me an Image of a battery slowly filling up.. Right now, the battery is full yet the tablet still won't start.
I am wondering why would Google make me have to fully recharge my tablet every time it runs out of battery?

its a joke ?
you are not pressing the right button for power on
hold the power on button longer till the device wakes from that screen !
and pray

Tablet bricked itself?

Bought a refurbed 32GB WiFi from sears on Jan 2nd and had no issues except for a screen flicker. I was running a CM10.1 build from around Jan 26th and the latest Motley Kernel.
Yesterday I was using the tablet as usual, but I hadn't charged it in a couple of days
so the battery was getting low. After I got home from work I went to use it but the screen wouldn't come on. I figured the battery had died so I went to charge it, but I never got the powered down battery animation. I've tried holding down all 3 buttons for at least a minute and nothing is happening, and when I connect to my computer I get a USB not recognized error.
I have about one day to return the device to sears with the 30 day warranty, but I just thought I'd check to see if anyone else was able to resolve a similar issue before I do so that I don't lose all of my data, and the fact that if they do get it running again that its rooted and running CM.
Any suggestions, or should I just take it back?

Sounds like the Nexus has had it, take it back is most likely the best option

AW: Tablet bricked itself?
One thing I learned from here, is that I never ever should let the nexus 7 run out of juice. Seems to be a death sign..
Jup, take it back.

Not a death sign.
You just need to let it sit on the charger for about 1/2hr, then it should boot right up. People panic when the device doesn't respond or screens start flashing, but it won't boot and they start mashing buttons and posting about their 'I think I bricked my device'. After a device has run down it might take a long press of the power button to get it to boot and/or sit on the charger for a bit.
Running the battery down should not be confused with the Sleep Of Death (SOD). The fix for an SOD is also a long press of the power button.

try connect to charger at least a half an hour, then press just power button for 1 minute. i had similiar issue, and it worked for me. if dont work, maybe you got battery connector loose problem. try search in general section about that.

I think my N10 just died.......

Hi All,
I was browsing the web a couple of hours ago and my N10's screen started flashing on/off and after around 10secs the thing crashed/turned itself off. Being an N10 this was not an unusual event! However when I try to turn it back on nothing happens. I can hold the power button / power button with volume buttons pressed and nothing happens. If I plug it in to charge I do not get even get a charging icon.
If it makes any difference I was running the latest Rasaber with Franco's r11 kernel and I know I had at least 40% battery left when it died. I have left it plugged in to the stock charger for around an hour hoping that something might happen but still nothing.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?
There was not a sad enough looking Emoticon to convey my sadness over the possibility my lovely Manta is dead......

Something similar happened to me but I'm totally stock. I Googled and the solution was to recharge the unit via my PC USB instead of plugging it into an outlet. I have no idea what happened but after a few hours of being connected to my PC it was back and working. Hope that helps.
I'm running the same rom and kernel combo. No problems or anything weird happened. It must be hardware related.
Did you try the holding-the-power-button-for-a-minute routine?
I would try to leave it plugged in on the charger for a while and see if it gets fixed. That usually solves all sorts of "wont turn on" problems

is it possible for the tablet to get overheated?
I have had that happen on stock.
My theory: it is linked to the 'battery status not updating'-bug. Your Nexus thinks the tank is still half full, while in fact you are running on fumes. It does not realize this, so no dimming of screen, no low power warning, it just goes full steam ahead, until the battery is totally and utterly and completely depleted.
Then, obviously, it won't start but it will also have trouble charging. You need to charge it for quite some time, sometimes try a different charger, and sometimes keep the power button depressed for a full minute for it to come back to life.
Now when I use my Nexus, I keep an eye on the battery status. If it does not go down, I know I need to reboot for the battery status to be read properly again. It is a bit of a bother, but not too much. The bug only kicks in after the tab has been lying around for a while sleeping. So if I want to watch a movie, I first reboot. As long as I keep using the tab (i.e.watching the movie), the bug won't 'activate' and the tab will shut off properly when it senses the battery is low, in stead of continuing and deep depleting the battery.

Nexus 7 CM 10. Rc 2 .won't power on

Hi sorry very new to the device and especially to root. I've had my Nexus 7 for approximately 6 months now and about a month agot installed cm 10 no nightlies just the RC 2 it has been running fine but last night the battery got down to about 14 percent and I plugged it in to the Nexus dock I came back about an hour later and it was off I left it in the dock and tried to power it on and it did nothing. I took it out of the doc and plugged it straight in with the cable and tried to turn it on and it went to the battery icon for a second then popped up the CyanogenMod logo as it started the boot I laid it down and left the room intent on letting it charge. Came back about an hour later and it hasn't done anything since it's just off .....will not start will not boot ....will show no signs of life whatsoever.... No lights no sounds. I laid it down and left it charging for the rest of the night and it was the same thing in the morning nothing has happened since. We even have another Nexus 7 in the house and we took the backs of an exchange batteries nothing..... Am I screwed or is there a way to fix this? I know this has nothing to do with having root access or the ROM.... Will warranty take care of this? I know it is hardware. We have tried several sugggested button reset options we read about....

[Q] Battery randomly hit 0% while the phone was on idle

Hey guys,
My battery was at like 60% if I had to guess when I left it in my room and left for a bit, when I came back like 30mns later, the phone was off and it wasn't turning on.
I plugged it in the charger and it started blinking a red LED light, a few seconds later it turned on with 0% battery. It's the first time this happens but I was wondering if there's anyway to track the issue?
I attached a screenshot of the battery usage and as you can see it immediately drops to 0%, so I guess it's not an app that's hogging the battery right?
I've had this phone since the beginning of June and it's on a year and a half of warranty from LG.
Please let me know what you think I should do.
I just started getting this too help us!
I actually got this once too, phone was discharging normally then randomly it went to 0% and eventually died. Got the red light of death until I charged it for a bit and it started. I charged it then after a while same thing happened. This happened a few days ago but hasn't happened again since. I'm running faux kernel with xenonhd

exact same thing happened to me. not sure why though
You all got android 4.3?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
yeah it doesn't actually charge to 100% even though it clearly says the phone is charged. Not sure if it's hardware or software really. Mine did this saturday
I got 4.2.2 with pa 3.69

[Q] Fault battery indicator [SOLVED]

Hello, :fingers-crossed:
i'm having a lot of troubles with the battery of my Nexus 4. I'll try to explain this strange situation...
Few days ago i noticed a ridicoulous battery drain while i was, as usually, listening to some music with my bluetooth A2DP headset Jabra HALO2. It was something like 1% every less then 1 minute. At first i thought it was due to a recently upgrade to CM10.2M1 (which is a monthly build of Cyanogenmod on 4.3) or due to a 5 minutes fast charge from the 2A charger of Nexus 10 that could have "upset" the battery.
At first i started focusing on the software side problem; i tried CM10.2RC1, CM10.2, stock 4.3, stock 4.4 and now CM11M1, and, while doing all of those wipes, i noticed that not only the discharge was insanely fast, but even the charge! The graph on the setting panel is almost vertical while cahrging, like 3% to 40% in 25 minutes.
But that's not all, sometimes, after rebooting, i noticed a battery level different from the previous boot, so i decided to wait a full discharge and then fully recharge it. I have waited the 0% (not so much time ) putting the screen always on and the LED flash too, then, i tried few times to turn it on and every time, after the boot screen disappeared it immediately started to turning off due to 0% battery.
Moreover, for being certain, i tried to turn it on in recovery and wait how much time it would take to consume the lasting charge on the battery. Surprisingly, after 30 minutes it was still there! I tried a reboot into system, showing me a 10% remaining battery (WTF), which discharged to 0% in like 3 minutes. Now i'm waiting the whole night the real discharge in recovery with screen always on, hoping that a full recharge could fix it. I would like to evidence that the phone do not overheat during both charghe and discharge, so i guess the battery itself may be ok.
I'm still not sure if it's a software problem, and i'm worrid if it could be an hardware related issue. Maybe it could have been the charge from the 2A adapter.
I really don't know what to do next. Someone knows how to help me?
Here 2 screenshoots, I wasn't able to upload it normally so here the links:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByucdM-SwPNnZEtXczNuTXhiMGc/edit?usp=sharing
EDIT:
I've done a full discharge until even the full hybernation has been shutted down, but seems that it hasn't solved anything. I've also noticed that in the battery stat is missing the display consumption (WTF?!?). Maybe it's a CM11M1 bug, it happen even to my Nexus 10. Here other shots:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByucdM-SwPNnRHU2QlJibk5TVVE/edit?usp=sharing
EDIT:
As happened to the N10, after a while the display appear in the stats:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByucdM-SwPNnMEozbzNRVGdzSHc/edit?usp=sharing
EDIT:
I've noticed just now that while I was waiting a real full discharge of the battery the TWRP couldn't show me the battery percentage. Really strange...
[SOLVED]
In summary, the problem was the combination of kernel+ROM. The CM with his kernel on N4 was consuming tons of electrons. I tried Purity+Hellscore, now i reach few days of low usage and one and half of medium usage
How old is your phone? You might be able to get a replacement from Google under warranty.

I don't think it'd be the 2A charge, I use the 2A charger on my battery all the time.

It have 9 months, and yes is still under warrenty, but I've bought it in Spain, and I live in Italy. I think this will be hard to solve
I have some strange problemi too.
Sometines the phone reboot itself and the battery drops (i tried to flash all stock: recovery, bootloader,ROM ecc..)
It could be a faulty battery.. Read this topic, it looks like you have the same kind of problems.
Do you also have simlocks/loss of network connection?

I've already read this topic, i think the source of the problem may be related with mine, but symptoms are different. It is strange that this happened 9 months later!
Gully discharging the phone, rebooting, discharge again if any, reboot. Connect charger, charge full. Reboot, charge full again if any, reboot. This always worked for me.
You can also try to fully discharge, completely power off the phone and let it fully charge while powered off ( only a white battery should be shown on the display).

Unfortunately, no. Probably it is a battery related problem, i'm going to replace it and see what happen. In the meantime not even PurityROM+HellsCore kernel may handle this battery draining...
