Can't unbrick Optimus l5 - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I ran into a problematic brick on my L5...nothing seems to work to unbrick it.
I followed the guides step by step using the KDZ updater and the appropriate firmware for my country, but it doesn't work.
How I bricked it:
I had CM10 installed and perfectly running for a month, so today I decided to attempt an overclock to speed the device up a bit.
So, I downloaded and installed the modded kernel, flashed it using CWM and rebooted the device. After that, the device just keep booting up, showing the LG logo and then a black screen.
Now, after trying to flash the old firmware after going into download mode it just stops on the LG logo with the flare (sun ray effect) spinning around the logo all the time...It's been like that for almost 30 minutes now. I attempted re-flashing it 3 times but nothing seems to work.
What do I do?
Thank you in advance.

It's bootloop. When I had L5 I had the same problem after flashing bricked phone via KDZ.
Do hard reset with key combination. It worked for me. Phone will boot up few minutes.

nop, it's like the device is dead,

Have you tried it:
Hold together volumn (-) + home button, then turn the power on

sorry for the delay, The phone was dead so I send it to the warranty and they send it to LG and then returned working so I just had to reroot it and update it again

so there is no solution to this brick???

I just cant get into emergency, DIAG or emergency CS
KDZ the phone connects and then I get a message afterwards PHONE NOT FOUND.
everytime I install the drivers by LG support tool, it keeps giving me the option to install the driver, like I havent done it a hundred times over.
I think there should be a driver somewhere that can be installed but the only people that have this driver are LG tech's. So they can bill you after
send the phone in cause you rooted it. So the one billion dollar question is witch hero will find a way to unbrick this device. We only need a way
to get a driver to install and we are home free. Or maybe the only other option is throwing the phone for sale on internet for spare parts
HELP PLEASE HELP find a way to unbrick this phone. Believe me I flashed and bricked alot of different phones and there was a way out but in
with this phone it seems impossible!!
And there is no mode to put it in in because te volume buttons don't do crap, the home button also, the only time that the phone does show up is when windows tells me it has an unknown device that I for the love of god can't find a driver for. I tried SDK, the LG drivers, but no dice

Did you try emergency mode? (volume up + volume down + power button)
If not, see if you can enter it and then flashing your stock firmware with Software update [KDZ] 1.0.4.4 (KDZ-Flasher).

Bricked phone ?

Hi,
I tried to upgrade from v2.1 to new Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread For LG Optimus GT540 and I followed instructions exactly, but I am stuck at number 8, I did this:
8- Now click “Launch software update”, DO NOT USE THE PC TO THE PROCESS IS COMPLETE. THE PHONE WILL REBOOT WHEN FINISHED THE PROCESS IN KDZ. (The process takes about 15 minutes in KDZ).
and about 2 minutes text log writes and stopped, I am now waiting more then 40 minutes my phone didn't reboot. On display is still written download mode, what should I do now ?
In kdz is written:
3GQCT: wParam = 205. IParam = 36
p.s.
I disconnected phone from usb and pull out battery and now I cannot turn on phone, I tried to push vol down + power for 5 sec.
Any idea what should I do now? I hope I didn't brick my phone
What programs are you using?
What are you using to update your phone and have you tried taking out your SIM, SD card and battery then turned it on with the USB cable?
I used KDZ updater and tried to install CyanogenMod7 (2.3.5) @ GT540 Swiftdroid2 RC3 by Mur4ik. if that is what you ask ?
I removed sim card and battery also, then tried to turn it on while plugged in to computer usb but no response from phone, I can't turn it on
p.s. I am using win 7 64 bit OS

If you can't get into download mode, then it's game over I'm afraid. What you will need to do is return the phone back to where you bought it. This happened to me some time ago. But the Carphone Warehouse were happy to fix it (even though I had voided the warranty but don't tell them that ). Don't say that you tried to mod the phone, say something like 'I installed LG's PC Suite and it said my device had a software update. I went along with it, but it gave me an error half way through. Now my phone won't turn on at all' It might just work!
I had the same problem when modding with kdz.
completely bricked my phone, but was able to fix by putting kdz into emergency mode instead of diag and updating with a fastboot stock rom,
it would stop after 2 minutes and give me and error but it managed to get fastboot onto my phone,
(camera + power)
then just flashed the fastboot method with adb and everything was fine,
my problem was something to do with lg modem drivers i believe,
I read a thread that said to disable the lg virtual modem. (didnt
work for me)
pretty noob myself
but the above method worked for me,
not sure if this can do anymore damage to the phone
have a look at this is u get it into emegancy mode.
On the kdz updater instead of 3GQCT put into emergancy

If you have tried flashing with Cm7 you might be lucky,
try holding camera button and powering on the phone, a black screen should come up thats fastboot.
if that comes up u should be able to just reflash following mur4iks instruction
if not try what i said in my last post and reflsh with phone type 3QGCT and PhoneMode EMERGENCY
again only going of how i fixed my bricked phone

He was trying to flash a fastboot rom (to install CM7) but bricked his device in the process. So he can't flash CM7-.-
Yeah I know that but I mean when I got the error he has, I flashed with a stock 2.1 fastboot rom With Diag changed to EMERGENCY and was able to get on to fastboot mode (camera+power), I got the error again as i was flashing but the phone would load fastboot and not start up
If he can get lucky and get into fastboot like i did, a simple:
fastboot -w
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
should fix his problem or did i just get lucky?
sorry if im confusing thinks here, but this is how i fixed mine. which was also dead and not turning on

Well like i told you im a noob at this myself (Android phone flashing atleast)
I suppose it would be good to see if you got fastboot??
Power on the phone while holding camera button (hold the camera button until the screen goes black) if you can get fastboot you can just follow the fastboot flash instructions after fastboot -w
if not on kdz in the top right were it says DIAG, Change this to CS_EMERGENCY,Click Launch update and flash again with a stock fastboot rom
after THIS see if the phone loads or boot loops(had this once too) or loads fastboot
Il try look to find the thread i read on another forum for troubleshooting kdz it helped me alot
EDIT: http://android.modaco.com/topic/321895-faqgt540-reference-thread/ try some of the troubleshooting tips at the bottom of the O.P
I basicly aimed to get fastboot working so make sure your flashing with a stock FASTBOOT! rom
again im new to this im just saying what got my phone back to life

I bricked my phone and I tried it again after getting it back from lg
I'm new here and to having a Smartphone, I've just been given an LG Android GT540 which is at version 1.6. The LG site tells me I can upgrade to 2 something or other, sorry can't remember the exact number and gives instructions on how to do the upgrade, but I'm a bit on the cautious side as I don't want to brick it, not this early on in owning my first Smartphone.
I'll be reading a lot of the posts here to try and find out as much as I can before I attempt to do this.
Well don't worry if it's official update. But if you some how brick your phone just tell lg the update bricked your phone and we are talking about unofficial updates

I've got phone today from service (not official LG service), repairman just manage to wake up phone so I can turn it On, but when I turn it I get black screen with message on it ''download mode''. Now computer recognize phone when I plug it, and I tried to update or flash it with kdz updater but have no luck
I launch kdz in emergency mode, load rom with updater, press launch button, and process started, (get messages unpacking software etc.) but after 3-4 minutes I notice that computer is blocked I couldn't do anything with mouse pointer, and I waited 15 minutes but computer is still blocked, even time on computer is stopped. I tried this procedure few times, every time it is same. Also tried to disable lg virtual modem in device manager. Any idea what I could do ?
p.s. repairman in service told me that he tried it to flash it with riff box, process started but after few minutes if stopped and blocked his riff box

[Q] Hard Brick D800 - Please Help! At a loss

Any help is appreciated! First some background:
Flashed device to stock using KK 4.4 version d80020c following steps found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476. Successfully rooted using directions (and ioroot25) found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKuedInhdjU&noredirect=1.
Here's where I got into trouble...Downloaded TWRP 2.7 recovery img and flashed via Flashify. Since this step, my D800 has the exact same symptoms found on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142.
- No download mode (tried many times)
- No recovery (tried many times also)
- Secure booting error
- LG detected as qhsusb_bulk in device manager
- Device is recognized as 15 different drives, one of which contains a folder named image with 79 different files being .B0X files and Microsoft Access Add-in Data files
- Upon restarting, LG logo with secure booting error, then the screen goes black while your phone is still on
I've followed the steps in the thread that matches my G2's symptoms, run ubuntu 13.1 in VM, apply usb filters for my device which is then recognized as either LG Electonics Inc. QHUSB_BULK or Unknown Device 05C6:9006 when running in VM.
Upon running command ls /dev/sd* in VM Ubuntu Terminal, all that is returned is /dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5 which are the partitions for Ubuntu, no LG.
I've tried to download and update the Qualcomm drivers, device manager tells me that the drivers were recognized, but cannot be installed and do not pass the hash check (Note: PC is running Windows 8.1).
I've spent over 12 hours on this trying to fix this problem, researched and searched everywhere. If I could get ubuntu to recognize the device, I would be able to continue on with the instructions on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142.
Links for windows 8 qualcomm drivers, suggestions on how to get the device recognized in ubuntu vm, experiences from others in similar situation, or any with experience working with LG to get a repair done if I'm SOL (as in eMMC is fried) would be so helpful right now.
Thank you all!
After flashing recovery did you flash a patched kernel to boot stock kk?
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk
I had the same, also with a lot of drives etc.
Screen is black but low backlighted?
Then try with pluged USB Cabel in Phone, hold Power button until screen is realy off, then hold the Power Up Button and plug Cabel into PC.
So I got download mode after I tryed many times
I had problems a few weeks ago getting mine to go into Download mode... turned out that the cable I was using was great for charging, but sucked for everything else. Once I switched to a different cable things worked fine and I was able to load D80010c on the device.
I was running D80020c this morning (with the D80010c boot.img to have a custom recovery) and decided to do an update. Since you can't load D80020k if you have the older bootloader I went all the way back to D80010c, updated to D80010o, D80010q, D80020c and finally D80020k. I was able to root that using IOroot and have restored everything back onto my phone.
-Daryel
Thanks so much for the responses! I've tried endlessly to get the device into download mode, and tried a new cable to no avail. Any other suggestions?
The URL you've linked to will help you solve your problem.
So once you power off your device, hold volume down and power till the lg logo shows, then release shortly and hold them again together till the white window with "factory reset appears", you should notice a text behind the white screen it's fine. So right now when you think it's gonna enter recovery mode the screen is gray(not black), now you connect your device to your ubuntu or whichever linux. You will notice the screen repeatelly blinking when linux is trying to automount the partitions. Figure out which device it is according to the messages it throws. (sdc, sdb, sdX)
This way you should proceed according to the instructions on the thread you linked.
d800 partitions are here
Still no luck

Thanks for your advice.
I got the white screen asking whether or not I want to perform a factory reset. If I choose No, the phone sends me right to the LG Logo with the error screen. If I choose Yes, it does the same thing. If I plug my phone into my computer while on the white screen asking if I want to perform a factory reset, the device isn't recognized and the PC doesn't see it as plugged in or mounted. I'm not sure what you mean by the timing of when I should try to plug in my device. Thanks again for all your help.

As soon as in the background of the white menu (factory reset) the secure boot appear plug it in. I'm not sure how much usb filter helps you(maybe it does) but try installing ubuntu over WUBI installer so your win remains. Or at least try ubuntu from usb stick. So you can know for sure if it's working.

you are not alone dude. i had the same issue since sunday and i have spent almost 46 hours already trying to restore my LG G2 F320S korean model.
i followed that instruction in linux, everything went well but then I ended up with a phone not going past the LG logo. the screen no longer dims like how it used to with the secure boot fail error. again, it stucked at the LG logo and thats it.
pressing the 3 buttons though for 5 seconds shows a white screen with 3 options and a bar code under.
but all of these options will just take me back to the LG logo.
I went to a phone technician today, and they said the doing a JTAG fix is the only way to resolve the problem because after trying to fix it with linux, it is no longer identified by my PC.
what are your solutions so far?
anyways before this issue came up, i tried to flash TWRP using flashify, it failed. then went back up. tried to update the OS via OTA then thats it.
i home someone could help us out.

[Q] Bricked my LG G2 need help

Hello XDA-Community
Today i accidently briked my G2 (D802 KitKat 4.4.2). I was flashing it because i wanted to unroot it but during the process an error showed up and my phone was dead.
So i tried to fix it with this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48765620#post48765620 but it didn't worked as planned.
Now i have an G2 which is stuck in a bootloop and i can't even reach the recovery or the download mode and i don't have any custom recovery installed.
Anyone who can help me with this get's an 10€/$ PSC. I can't give more because i dont have any money left (16 years old).
Big thanks to everyone who can help me with this
PS: Sorry for my bad english i'm not a native speaker
While you wait for an answer make sure your phone is kept charged.
Have you tried LG flashtool and your stock ROM?
make sure it's off, hold the VOLUME UP button while plugging it into your computer, and that should get it into download mode.
Next try using the TOT method (google it) and voila!
Yeah the problem is that i can't even reach the download mode and my computer doesn't recognize my phone it's just an qshub device. ;(
I had the same issue bricking my lg g2 and i was stuck with the logo and nothing more not even download mode, recovery etc...
The way i got it to stock was i installed the lg g2 drivers and from there on just flashed it with flashtools kdz and got it workking again i think this shoould help you out just plug your phone and install the drivers and use flashtools
Install this driver then report me back or cap screen device manager to me.I will help you for fee.

Mode download doesn't work

Hello,
I want upgrade my LG G2 with a new rom 5.xX
This phone have only the operator update. No custom, no trwp, nothing...
I installed drivers and when i want access to download mode. I can't. I use the good proccess with vol up then plug usb cable always with vol up presses.
follow this procces after a little moment my phone show me battery logo charging.
So i can't access to download mode.
I would use this process
t was NOT bricked. I finally tried playing around with the LG Mobile Support Tool (B2CAppSetup.exe). Of course it detected that my phone already had the latest firmware from T-Mobile, but then I clicked Options>Upgrade Recovery.
It downloaded for a while then I noticed it had put my phone into download mode (it said "Rooted" in red letters at the bottom). Then it flashed the same firmware over and I immediately tested, it entered download mode right away. But I didn't end up needing that as Stumproot was able to brute force it now after the recovery flash.
Anyway, I couldn't find an answer anywhere else. Most results also have a bricked phone, but that wasn't my issue. This solved my problem and maybe it could work for others.
but it's impossible for me to install B2appsetup on my pc the installation begin then stop after 5s then nothing.
I have Win 10.
Do you have a solution for me , please??

PC doesn't recognize my LG (download mode)

Hey guys!!!
Can you please help me with this?
Yesterday i tried to install a new ROM on my LG Android phone (My LG phone is not working properly, it has a reboot loop). I tried to do a factory reset without success -> the dead Android logo appeared :/
I put my phone in Download Mode and connected to the pc but Windows does not recognize my phone.. it says: "USB device not recognized.. the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it"
I do not know what to do now.. when i try to flash a ROM with the LG Flash Tool it fails because LG program does not recognize my device..
PS: LG Support Tool recognizes my phone (it shows the model) but i cannot flash a ROM
Thanks!!:fingers-crossed:

Were you using a custom recovery? (i.e. TWRP)? If so, are you able to boot into recovery? It was a few years ago but whenever that happened to me I would have to use the hard reset option. If I remember correctly, on my LGG2, I would hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time until the LG logo appears, then right when it appears, release and re-press both buttons again holding them down again until the hard reset option showed. Then when it asked me if I was sure I wanted to reset my phone, select yes (it made nervous the first ten times or so). Eventually I began to trust it would, in fact, do what I was informed it would do which was boot into TWRP without actually resetting anything. From there I was always able to flash a new ROM etc. Anyway, if you knew all that sorry, just trying to help. If not, please get second opinions since I will not be held responsible for your device and since it's been years since I tinkered with mine. Having a Samsung now, I don't mess with it cause rooting a Samsung Note trips Knox and then Samsung Pay is disabled.
Anyway, happy flashing and best of luck to you. It was an awesome hobby while I was involved with it.
Cheers!
