Hi guys,
I created an application that I published to the Play Store about a month ago, and just last night I had received an email from filedir.com saying..
Information about your app "Bing Rewards Automator PRO" (Android) has been added on FileDir.com
"Bing Rewards Automator PRO":
- User ratings: Not rated
- Video: N/A
- Discount: N/A
FileDir.com: All apps by CHRIS CROCKETT | RSS CHRIS CROCKETT

I found this kind of odd. I hadn't sent out to anybody to have my application published on their website, so it couldn't have been from that. My application is not very large scale either, so I don't know why they would have singled me out. I was hoping some of you had gotten a similar e-mail from them, saying that they had 'added' your app to their website, and if anything arose out of having it on there. Just seems odd to me.
Thanks

Not your app was published, but "Information about your app". Download links go to the Google Play Market.
i got this too on all of my apps o_o
yes, i too got the mail and i have checked on their website also that my game Number Play Free is listed with them.
look likes they have partnership with google store
I got this too. They seem to give credit and redirect to the Play store. Anything that get's me more downloads and publicity is OK by me at the moment.

I don't think this site has any association with Google, Apple, Microsoft or any software provider. They're a scraper. They have some automated process go out and watch for new apps on iTunes, Play, and even Microsoft's mobile stuff. Then they duplicate the entries on their site to generate ad traffic plus downloads of non-market apps. My problem with this is that they also have apps that aren't in those official markets. So, your perfectly legitimate app is sitting right next to something that couldn't get approval on Google Play. Who knows if it has malware or viral code in it. If the proverbial crap hits the fan and a malware app is downloaded from this site and your app is also "published" there, the fallout could hit you as well. I've sent an email asking them how they got approval to display my app and that they no longer list it.
Here's the response I got from FileDir on them putting my app on their site.
"Hi,
Not your app was added, but information about your app.
We do not store/host/sale any apps on our website.
All download/buy links go to the Google Play Market, iTunes or Windows store.
Please, check it. Thanks."
Please read the information provided on the following page (About Us): filedir.com/about-us/
Thanks!

Hi, I have two questions. 1) When I access the market I only see the free apps. How do I access the paid apps? 2) I used a different app (I forget the name) to directly access the top paid apps, but when I try to buy anything I get a message saying that my Google acccount has problems. I have double checked all the account details, and everything is correct Any ideas? Thanks.
Please check that you set up your google account on your phone properly, and then take a look at the market ( with the original app)... there are free and there are paid apps listed there, you can list them as "most popular" or "most recent"..
The market always worked fine for me, I have to admit that I did not buy any app from the market until now...

Thanks for your reply. I've set up my Gmail account for receiving Gmail using the Gmail app. Is this all I need to do, or are there additional settings I've missed? Thanks.
You can't access paid apps probably because Market is not available in your country. However, if you want to you can always use Market Enabler which is made available at http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/

I think you're probably right, as I'm based in Russia. I'm new to the Android platform, would you mind telling me how I install Market Enabler? Thanks again.
Or us unfortunate souls who do not want to root our beloved Heros will just have to wait for Android 1.6 (don't forget HTC has to make their Sense UI work for it too)...
Not sure if this has been previously posted or if its just a regular app now, but I saw it in the new signed rom and it works on the incredible.. I will update if i find anything else that looks updated.

Thanks for posting this. I had v1.1.1. Downloaded the free music and am listening to it right now.
HTC Incredible (Stock)
Can I ask how are you downloading the music for free? When I select a song I'm prompted to log-in and when I do so, it asks me to set up the 1-click payment.
EDIT: Nevermind, I see that the full discount was applied. However, I'm getting a lot of network errors when I know I'm connected. anyone else seeing this? Thanks in advance.
I seem to be getting errors too. I am on 3G. It reads:
"Failed due to network error. Retry when you are in a mobile network or Wi-Fi coverage area; roaming downloads are not supported."
I hit ok and it continues. I tried another free song and it downloads.
Shazam also does not recognize the app. It prompts me to go to the website when I hit the Amazon MP3 button.
I haven't gone so far as downloading the music but I do get the errors when searching sometimes. Seems like it might want really good signal for some reason because when I went into town it started working.
I haven't had any problems so far, been using it on both wifi and network and downloaded a full album (free one)

That's an issue with Shazam. It defaults to taking you to the website. I found it a little odd on my Droid and have seen that it's also the case on my Incredible. Contact the developers and ask for it to be added as a feature.

I emailed them I will let you know what they say.
How many free downloads does it give?
The ones I downloaded are the free song of the day.
I know there are more free songs. If you search you will find them.

I was using your apk for a few days now, but I just noticed that they finally added it to the market on the Incredible. So we don't have to go hunting for the most updated apks anymore. I'm liking version 1.7, it doesn't force close on me anymore.
This the answer I got from Shazam Support.
"Hi there
From talking to our Android development team about this issue; they’ve informed me that the fault actually lies with the Amazon application, not Shazam. We’re hoping that the Amazon application is updated soon to restore the previous level of functionality with Shazam.
Updates to the Android Shazam application are also due soon - You will be notified in-app when these updates are ready to download. I’m afraid I don’t currently have an exact date for release."
I installed the Amazon MP3 from the market and now Shazam sees it.

This app is in the market now.
I updated to 2.2 and this Amazon mp3 crap is on there and wont uninstall through normal means (same with Wave secure) How do you uninstall these *locked* apps? I thought being able to remove this crud was the whole point of rooting the device? :s

Remove it through ADB per the instructions posted in the forum.
I'm currently working overseas, I was able to download Apps from Amazon before. But now Amazon detects I'm not in US so a message pops-up "Amazon Appstore is not available in your region".
I've tried several methods posted on XDA and other website but it's not working.
- Anyone knows of a successful work around?
- Can someone start a list of daily Free Apps APK, so I can grab the ones I like?
TIA
If you have the phone registered to your account you can just go to the amazon app store via your computer and "purchase" it that way.
I don't think anyone can post the apk because it might be considered piracy since you didn't "purchase" it for free and you don't own it.

You can try setting up a proxy for your phone. That might make it think you're in the U.S.
I purchased Cut The Rope on Amazon, which I now regret. Amazon appstore doesn't update their apps nearly as quickly or consistently as they do on the regular Android Market. To get the new levels, I'd like to purchase the app again on the regular Market, but I can't. There's no option to purchase, just an option to "update" - and when I try that, I get an error "The download of 'Cut the Rope' was declined because you haven't purchased it."
Does anyone know of a solution to this?

The long and short of it will be this.
Back up only the data using a third party app.
Delete the app from the phone.
redown the app from the market
restore the data you made in step one
update the app.
So simple - not sure why I didn't think of doing that. Thanks!
Or just use market.android.com to buy and send the app to your phone.
If you are rooted and use Titanium Backup, make sure the app is not attached to the market. I had the opposite problem with amazon apps. The market kept trying to update them because they were attached, so I detached them and the market no longer saw them. If you do that you should be able to download it again from the market.
Hello,
I have a similar problem but I cannot solve it using the method that 'neidlinger' described.
I have purchased the application "Cut the Rope" from the market.android.com site, then I used my HTC Sensation Z710e device to open the Android Market app, find Cut the Rope, and install it. I have seen that my payment was successful since it stated "Purchased" instead of displaying the price to me. Then, I clicked "Install" but it wasn't successful and it displayed an error message saying, "The download of "Cut the Rope" was declined because you haven't purchased it". Therefore, I cannot install the game and play it. Can you help me with this?
Cheers,
Yunus
So I'm on MIui and for the past 4 weeks I've been receiving approx 1 "spam" message a week which appears in the header of my screen.
It's a little bit annoying, and obviously, I'd like to get rid of them given a choice.
I've attached a screenshot showing the issue.
Is there any advice on how I can stop this spam message being received in the future please?
A cursory google search and an xda search has revealed no obvious answers
Thanks in advance
Looks like you have downloaded an app with airpush advertising, at least I think its called airpush anyway.
There is an app you can download that will tell you which app is the culprit or alternatively there is an opt out app that you can download.
I had the same problem after downloading a youtube downloader so I know how annoying it is
I'll check it up and get back to you.
thanks
appreciate you taking the time.
It's annoying!
http://newbwired.com/2011/06/10/removing-airpush-from-your-android-device/
seems to have solved it for me - a beautiful widgets addon seems to have possibly caused the problem? I say uninstall to that, see what the impact will be over the next week.
Thanks ponk2k for giving me the spark I needed to potentially solve this case.
Yep, it is airpush. You can get either airpush detector or add-on detector in the market which will show you which app is causing the notification bar spam aand give you the option of deleting it or else google airpush opt out to keep the app but rid yourself of the ads
I expect you've already found it, but I used this app to find the culprit when I had airpush problems:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector
The Airpush Opt Out app doesn't seem to be available any more.
Dont forget guys that MIUI builds adds into the roms so it may not be just an app.
