You have to use a kernel that has these features like the agat kernel or ktoonez.. No stock kernel has this

[Q] StupidFast v1.2.3 kernel version

Just flashed StupidFast v1.2.3 kernel through CWM and rebooted. Phone came up... how do I tell that I am actually running that kernel?
You can look in set cpu. There are details that will tell you the kernel info.

Yes. Geeknik tagged his kernels so you will see geeknik somewhere after the base kernel version. I believe the date/time thats in the tag is the build time as well, so you can kind of get an idea of what geeknik kernel you are running (it looks like the 1.2.3 version was built around 4PM on the 16th)

Stock kernel to replace a custom kernel

Hi guys,
Is it possible to replace a custom roms kernel to a original one I've been looking all over this forum for a stock kernel to try but no luck.
Why do i want to do this??
I want to do this as I would like to use sky go app and barlcays apps which detect root and it's driving me nuts wanting to use custom again and I can't because the root is in the kernels. Also is there anyway I can remove them from it

From what rom you want kernel?
You can use a stock kernel in a custom ROM but many of the features of custom ROMs require root access so you would lose functionality.
Your best bet is to flash custom firmware in my opinion.
If only there was a way to decompile the Skygo .APK so it didnt check for root access........

I'm trying to use the kernel from an original virgin unrooted GB found at the link. It's T-mobile's official version
And I'm trying to use it with Android Revolution HD™ 7.0.4
Why such the urge to use a certain kernel. Not too sure if the my sense kernel would work with sense3.5

Stock Rom + Overclock cpu+gpu is this possible?

Hi everyone..I have the nexus 7 about a month now and i decided to o/c a bit for the main cause is gaming and surfing the net.
I am very satisfied by the device so far.
I want to keep my stock rom and the only thing i need is to o/c the cpu and gpu in order to achieve better fps in certain games.
Is this possible? e.g the google's stock rom (4.2.2) and for example a kernel? (faux-trinity e.t.c.).
I understand i must root my device but i don't know if i can keep my stock rom and o/c at the same time.
Thank you in advance
Short answer: Yes.

Highly possible. Check out Franco.kernel and it's premium app on the playstore you'd essentially have full control over gpu/cpu anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct. You can use ROM toolbox to OC. There are also many other apps.

Thanks all for your help. So i need to root it first and then flash a kernel?
The rom toolkit or any other app won't let me overclock with the stock kernel is that right?
I think the franco kernel won't allow overclocking correct me if i am wrong

Quick kernel question

I am using foxhound rom with faux kernel now I want to switch to ktweaker kernel. How do I install ktweaker and get rid of faux without having to refresh rom? Thanks for the help

download the appropriate (TW/aosp) KT kernel. wipe cache and dalvik then flash the kernel, fix permissions and reboot.
How do I remove the original kernel from my phone? Just root explore and delete? Thank you so much for the help. I like the faux kernel but my battery life was much better with ktweaker

What are you trying to delete, the actual kernel zip? if so, just use explorer and delete it, as far as removing, it is a matter of flashing a kernel over the existing one.
Ok that's what I was wondering. I know if I just flash the new kernel then I will have two kernels essentially on my phone but then to just go to the faux folder and delete it. I appreciate your help.
I know this is off topic and I will make another Q&A thread if I need to. But with the i9505 rom that I'm using my build. Prop is for the I9505 and somethings like twrp isn't recognising I have an i337. Can I just change my build prop to reflect i337 without any problems with the rom? Thanks for any help
