Hi everyone,
Somehow this morning (no idea how it happened) I broke the back glass on my phone. The camera also seems to have stopped working, but I'm not sure why. The impact point for the break was near the bottom of the phone, not the camera.
Has anyone else had a similar issue and how did they fix it? It's making the lockscreen quite slow, probably because of the camera widget
EDIT: Please ignore this post. I tried the camera again right after posting and it has fixed itself. My apologies.I'll be ordering a new back soon

I'm thinking ebay, I'll have a better look tomorrow. Also considering just using clear nailpolish or something then getting a case to save some money.
Prices look like they're around 55AUD, plus 40 or so postage. I'm sure they'd be around cheaper though
...aliens...mysterious cracks...Nexus 4...

I emailed the guys at google support they said they're aware of the problem it has been resolved and the ones currently being shipped now do not have the problem with screen lift.

Maybe, maybe not. It's not the first time Google has claimed this though.

This!!!
Also I want to hear from people that had this issue on previous device not people that never seen a flicker before

Well there is something I noticed about my current unit.
There is a tiny amount of lift in one place, not enough to bother about but the silver frame has a slight kink in it.
The kink looks identical and is in exactly the same place as on my other N7 that I have been messing around with the screws.
Makes me wonder if they are opening them up and doing something to fix them?
I haven't actually looked inside this once cos its going back (if they ever get around to shipping the replacement).
Hi!
So tomorrow I'm meeting up with someone to buy a Nexus 4. They got it from the Play Store as they claim.
However, I want to make sure what I'm buying is legit. So what do I look for?
It's new, sealed. I am allowed to break the seal and check the inside, I am also getting a receipt with the phone.
So again, now that you know that, exactly what should I look for tomorrow to make sure it's 100% real and non-used/working?
Just stick with the basics. Make a call using regular ear piece and speaker phone, check camera, check all buttons work etc.

We are meeting in a mall and I don't have the SIM for it yet, so I'm worried about actually powering on the device and everything...
if its 16gb, check the storage in settings
should say total around 12gb
check if camera works
WiFi, Bluetooth, notification light, and missing screens

Thanks guys ! The phone is legit! I have to wait until Friday so I can set it up on a carrier and then I'll test out data, texting, and everything else. I'm loving it so far though . TIME TO CHANGE MY SIGNATURE!
Title misleading? You're not buying it from google but some person that bought it from the play store, which is how you buy it from google... Although you say its an lgnex but its really an nexus 4?
Well I'm glad it works for you, I was gonna remind ya to chk front camera too, as well as sim tray.

Fixed the title. LGNex is a short way of saying Nexus 4, I like it, but nobody else really uses it except me
I checked everything, set up the phone today and it all works perfectly. Tethering, everything! I love this thing!

The one coming next week I forgets, when it comes I'll post a link and some pics. It's this cool black outline for the sides and a translucent back. The second is a white mercury TPU case. It'll be here in 2-3 weeks
Found the link for the first case. They are only four left, hurry!

I put my Nexus 4 on a shelf that was about 5ft high, then someone pushed the shelf causing my phone to fall face down on the carpet. I thought the phone would handle the drop, as it had happened to me before, but I looked at it and the front glass, not LCD, was completely shattered. I know this would be a costly replacement, I would just like to find something under $100. What makes it bad is that the phone is only a month old, and I didn't have a case on it, kinda my fault.... But I'd like to ask if anyone else had this problem, and if so what was the solution, how much would it cost to buy a replacement online? and is it easy to replace at home, because I never replaced a screen by myself? If so did you get yours replaced at a shop? and how much was it with the glas and digitizer? Thanks, also do you think the prices for the screens will go down? They seem to be going down, because I could probably wait a month if it makes a big difference.
$115 lg does it for you.

Do you know of anything cheaper?
It doesn't sound bad but I just dont want to deal with sending in my phone, plus if its rooted? will it make a difference?

unroot it not difficult if u use one of those toolkits. doubt you can find anything cheaper than that. screens are expensive. max you would save $20 but you run the risk to not succeed by doing it urself(unless u r a pro in such things)

That's about the cheapest you can go. I paid about $250 for mine, and I had to fix it myself. Then again I prefer to do it myself.

I think I found an old guy who does not want his N4. Can I pull my att sim card from straight talk and put it in the n4?
What other things should I look for before I make the purchase from someone who has had experience with this device? I am coming from the note 1.
Thank you for any help!

You may need to create the APN, but the phone is Sim unlocked.
Look for scratches, cracks, touchscreen unresponsiveness, earpiece crackle (some is OK. Just make sure it isn't unbearable), dead pixels and yellow spots on the screen.

Cosmetic stuff yea but dead pixel I wouldn't of thought off. Are there any common problems with this device?
APN is good I would of forgot that. I carry my settings for that all the time cause I am constantly flashing stuff. Thanks for your response.

Common problems are light bleed, speaker crackle, dead pixels, banding on the display, and yellow spots under the screen. Did I miss anything anyone?

Lol I was not trying to offend anyone.
I was stereotyping him because he said his wife had to order the phone online for him and that kind of phone wasn't for him. I am guessing it might of been his first smart phone. He is selling a 16 gig for 300 bucks and he used it one day.
He wanted the money to get a iphone:banghead:
I need a new phone cause I think my note 1 has about had it. So it could potentially could be a good timing thing.

It's an unevenness in the way the backlight lights up the screen. You'll see brighter spots around the edges. Some say it's the type of screen. It's not something I've ever looked for or noticed. It doesn't bother a lot of people, but perfectionists let it get to them.
make sure its not blacklisted..yes google can and had blocked the n4..

For an extra $50 bucks and shipping you can get a brand new one and not risk buying one with an issue.

When you get to him. Ask him if you can call Google and get the warranty transferred over to you. At the same time ask google if it has been blacklisted. If he does not agree, don't buy it.
So I just took my phone out of it's case and noticed that the back glass was cracked. I read in one of the threads that apparently a back repair from Google is free? It's kind of hard to believe but does anyone know anything about it? If it's not free, how much would it be to have the back fixed? Thanks.
Its not free. You can find the back piece for about $60 online

Yeah I didn't think so :/ but is there anyway I could buy just the glass and change it? That's only $20. I don't want to pay $60 for a back lol.

There is a lot of post explaining this particular question in detail for simple and short no or at least it's very hard due to things actually being hooked up to the glass
