Hey guys
I have this problem with my x10 whenever I open an app or a game and close it it goes back to main screen and the apps icons and Widgets disappear for a second and comes back slowly
Anyone has a soulution or ideas
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
The x10's problem is the RAM. If you use a lot of apps and widgets at the same time it will run out of memory and close the homescreen to free ram. When you go back from an app to the homescreen, android has to reload it, that's what you see, when the applications redraw. If you want to solve this problem, rooting your device would be my advice for you, cause this gives you many possibilities to solve such issues

Its a redraw of the screen you can easily fix that by tweaking the build.prop

Therefore root access would be a good choice it's one line he has to add, for stopping the redraws

I would like to create a single post where we comment on recommendations to make better and faster and more reliable our phones, ways to decrease the RAM usage, extend battery life, useful tricks, etc.
- Disable all animations
- Disable buttons lights
- Download app named multitask shortcut
- Download SwiftKey 3 and Swype
- Use as less possible widgets and live wallpapers to avoid homescreen refresh
- Disable touch vibrations
Any other useful tips for making better the Galaxy S 3 experience are welcome.

I used to use touchwiz, but can't stand the slow transition, even after making the adjustment under development in settings.
Then i install Nova launcher, turn transition to the fastest. Wow, now my phone has over 300 mb free ram after boot up and is fast. And I mean real fast. For those who need speed. Go with Nova, and you retain most of the touchwiz features, like smart stay.

ok thanks. I didnt know that as in the sgs2 days, freezing the twlauncher might lead to softbrick. Will try it later.
Just did everything in the op and phone feels tons faster

Wow guys seriously. So you disable everything fancy , what's the use of such a powerful processor. You could've got S1 if you wanted to disable every eyecatchy stuff .
All these animations shouldn't give S3 any kind of hiccups. I use a ton of widget and all animations are turned on (Although to a scale of 0.5 ). It's super fast and
on stock

I agree with you. I never understood the need fit the latest and greatest only to dumb it down. I don't get cm9 you can run it on many of phones so why spend the money on all the flash. I'm thankful for cm 9 cuz of my HP touch pad is now usable but will never understand the need to make every new phone plain. Just my thought not flaming anyone i like change sometimes

And this only is a problem-for me
What's the problem??
In your first pic there are many apps running in the background so it will cause more ram usage..
That ram is 30-40 mb more than normal usage. The notification /status bar also causes more of ram usage.
Other than this I don't see what problem you exactly have. Can you please explain?

reboot your phone. it might help .otherwise u need to reflash your rom bcoz 220 mb is too high in my view.In my phone i`ve jb3.0.3 installed along with 10 extra 3rd party apps and also avast but mine ram is always 168-178 when idle(i.e. opening no apps, net or wifi) and it becomes 190 to 205 if i use gprs or wifi with browser running.

Actually, it doesnt matter if the RAM is as high as 220. Using processes which run in background just consumes more RAM. Every 3rd party doesnt run in background. Avast is just one background process you are mentioning. That guy could have several apps such as Viber, Whatsapp, tango, facebook, twitter, gmail etc which always run in background and hence take RAM.

Did you mention widget locker? It takes up a lot of RAM..not recommended. Use the stock locker or 8 lock screen mod in various custom ROMs. A 3rd party lockscreen is always not recommended.

Hi everyone, I just got my N4 today and was pretty excited to run the light grid live wallpaper, when I did, my homescreen (apex) lags between transitions
Is that normal? Any way to get rid of it?
Thank you very much

There shouldn't be any lag. Try using a simpler animation, maybe (or turn off any complex animations). Does the wallpaper lag on stock launcher?

As we all know on paper this phone is a beast but in real life not so much. Now that I had this phone for a week I can definitely say that my Galaxy S3 running AOKP 4.3 ROM was faster than this phone (no joke).
I mean the only thing that really bothers me a lot with this phone (and I don’t know if its touchwiz related) is lock screen lag. Sometimes when I’m locking or unlocking the phone it takes a good second or two to “wake up” or “go to sleep”
Do any of you guys notice the same problem? If so is the any way to fix this now that we have root access?
I’m also looking for any other tips and tricks to make this phone a little faster
Thanks in advance

Zero animations will help a little but it won't work miracles. You are used to an aosp-style rom, and Touchwiz simply is not that. Once we get Safestrap, devs will get debloated TW roms for this beast. Until then, you just have to deal with TW lag & bloat

Try to freeze/remove the "S Voice" application that maps itself to ---> double tap Home key.
By removing it, it removes the double tap mapping which greatly helped with home button wake lag on my Note 2
Next most common thing to help you is to use an app such as Android Tuner to edit the stock kernel CPU clocks. In deep sleep(=screen off), you can raise the mhz of the CPU so it takes less time to wake up. Not sure if you can do this on stock kernel/locked bootloader just yet and this will eat more battery in general if your phone is in deep sleep often
