Ok, so I may have done something wrong.
Prior to MDL I used triangle away and rest back to 0.
After MDL I used Triangle away and it is now increasing my counter.
Does anyone know what I could have done wrong?

What about Systemapp Remover. This worked before MDL and now after it says it doesn't have access to the system folder (could not be mounted as read/write)

My friend accidentally took MF3 update while rooted, update installed successfully but now "custom padlock" is showing every time the phone boots which I believe is preventing him to connect to out corporate MDM.
We've tried factory reset from the OS as well as from stock recovery. Is there any other way to go back to 100% stock?
I surely like to know this as well......

^^ odin wont work because we dont have a MF3 odin package and we cant downgrade to MDL due to the efuse. If he still has residual busybox or su binaries in his /system partition, that would trigger the unlocked bootscreen. In that case, i am afraid he might be stuck till someone figures out how to root MF3 or we get an MF3 ODIN package.
This may or may not work but try installing a superuser app from market and see if yo have root. If yes, then switch to superSU and update binary. Reboot a couple of times and the custom screen should be gone. If not, download a root browser and delete busybox and su binaries and reboot a couple of times.
If none of the above works, take it to att store and play dumb. See if they will reflash bone stock MF3 firmware for you!
Good luck!

How can any one give a solution to an issue without knowing which device the OP is talking about? Not all devices are the same, is it an att i337m which is bootloader unlocked. Odin back to stock, root, and run triangle away, follow the online instructions, it will remove the padlock..
Thanks

It does. As i said before, your only option at this point i think is to try and install supersu and see if you still have functioning root. If yes, you can use triangle away and the custom screen thread in general section to get rid of it and then unroot.
If root is not functional, download any root browser and see if you have busybox or su in /system/bin or /system/xbin (you can view the files without root using root explorer i think). If those files are there then you can not get rid of them at this point. You have to wait for someone to figure out a way to root MF3.
In any case, some ppl around here have had the custom screen come up on a bone stock never rooted phone. So you can go to the att store and say that it just came up and play dumb. (make sure you uninstall all apps that need root) If they check the /system partition for signs of root, you are screwed but if they just go ahead and reflash the full firmware, it will solve your problem.

Yeah after the first few updates of the S3 and now the S4....Samsung has implemented security measures to prevent people from resetting their flash count.....so at the moment Triangle away is useless on the S4....so its not a problem with your phone or something Hope this helped you

Not true bro, Triangle Away is to be used on a stock rom with a stock recovery and a stock kernel. Or else the counter would be raised after each reboot. TA only works on the I9505 atm. Whats the point of using TA if you have a custom rom, recovery and kernel

besides safestrap not supporting 4.3 roms, are you postitive you didn't flash anything on your stock rom? if you did and you can't boot the only option to returning your phone back to stock is taking it to best buy to samsung experience and having them reflash your phone

ive found one root option that seems to work but you cant install a custom recovery.
my phone came with the mk2 update from sprint so is there any way to root it and have a custom recovery? im not worried about tripping knox if that matters. also does the cf-auto root method work with the full mk2 update?

This is what worked for me
You've probably already found a solution, but this is how I rooted the Sprint MK2 4.3

This worked fine, and I was able to install custom recovery. Just been having and issue getting a proper backup, but everything else worked just fine.
Hope this helps

The method is for Verizon GS4, can you reconfirm that its working for Spring L720 too?
Thanks
I can confirm that it worked for my Sprint MK2 4.3. I should mention that when I started the instal bat and the command prompt screen popped up telling me to hit any key to continue, nothing happened. I "x'd" out of command prompt and started the install bat again and it worked no problem. I have done this a total of 3 times now. All on Sprint MK2 4.3 and all successful. I checked each time with root checker to ensure root access.
I can also confirm that Safe Root tool was able to root my Sprint L720 MK2-based 4.3 Galaxy S4. I had Odin'ed back to stock MK2 days ago. I haven't tried the SafeTrap Recovery yet so I can back-up/install custom ROMs.

Thanks for the confirmation as it assured me enough to go ahead and root... and as confirmation on my end that it worked!!
One question though... as I'm now rooted, it's been mentioned that when you boot the device up you should see a "Custom" banner during boot because things have been changed. On my device I never see this and was wondering if that's the case on yours as well.
I can also confirm that QBKING&&s root method works for mk2 build..so does goomanager for installing twrp and disabling knox. Jut dont try the MJA native hotspot mod...i followed the video to the t and am now stuck in a boot loop

Why would you use the MJA native hotspot mod for a MK2 build? I believe in that same thread they released an MK2 hotspot mod as well, which I have installed successfully as I now have FoxFi WiFi hotspot availability!

Im trying to restore my S4 to complete factory state and remove the "custom" message at boot. I rooted on MK2 then decided to update OTA to 4.4.2 (NC1, I think). I successfully flashed the full NB1 Odin tar from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674223
but the "custom" message still remains during boot. Any thoughts on removing this?
