[Q] Nexus 10 Logitech Unifying Receiver - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have your standard Logitech mini keyboard with unifying receiver. I am trying to use it on the Nexus 10. (Right now, stock rooted 4.2.2.) The kernel sees the receiver (confirmed via dmesg) when attached directly and via a powered USB hub. However, the keyboard doesn't actually work.
(Side note, this is a bit frustrating considering it works great on my Nexus 7.)
Searching the forums, it appears there is one kernel that mentions explicit support of the Logitech devices:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998585
However, that kernel is based on 4.2.1.
Are there any other projects based on 4.2.2 that people can confirm the Logitech unifying devices work on? Or is there a way to add an appropriate kernel module to the tablet? (I would like to stay as close to AOSP as possible, but am willing to switch to any rom or kernel that doesn't introduce to much 'theme'.)
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Just checked and confirmed.
Ktmanta Kernel works just fine with my logitech k400 keyboard/touchpad.

I can confirm that Ktmanta kernel works with the unifying receiver, and you can keep 4.2.2 stock.
Apparently google decided to not include the unifying receivers drivers on the N10, but they did on the N7. Hopefully with a new update they'll include them in stock kernel.
Here's the link to the kernel thread:

Can anyone check if the stock 4.3 kernel supports the logitech unifying receiver?

Confirmed, it works now with the 4.3 stock kernel! Yippie! Typing this with my Logitech keyboard.

There are custom kernels (unleased kernel series, Hells Doctor, Hellscore, ...) which supports OTG and also supports Lolipop.
Stock Lollipop

mm okey! so, have you test Hells Doctor on Lollipop? I will try out it this afternoon. I'm running a 4.3 stock perfectly with the otg, but Lollipop look like so excited.

How does one "Simply install the zip in recovery"?
My screen is broken (just the touch; everything is still visible). I was hoping I could install this mod without being able to touch the lower half of my screen so that I could plug in a mouse so that I could copy some files off my device.
I can reboot into recovery mode, but USB debugging is *not* enabled. I've never used "adb" on this device before (I just says "offline" when I try to run it from my PC).
I have no idea how to "install a zip".
Phone is an Nexus 4, running android 4.something.
OTG on Paranoid 4.6 beta 6

Is the OP willing to develop the patch for lollipop too? Or is there any nice kernel with USB host support?
nexus 4 lolipop 5.0.1 and xbox wireless gamepad
Hello. I want use xbox360 wireless gamepad on my nexus 4 lolipop 5.0.1. I think first I need kernel with OTG support. What kernel I can download on 5.0.1 android? I need y-cable for receiver of xbox360. what about mouses and keyboards they also need y-cable?
What can be the problem, why OTG still doesn't work
Hey guys,
however I'm completely new to this stuff, I managed to get through every barriers, and I put Cyanogenmod 11 snapshot M12 on my Nexus 4 and after that flashed the suggested kernel and patch successfully to try out OTG. The phone works withput problem, the installations seem to be successful, therefore I tried to connect an external storage to the phone to check if OTG works on it.
For that, I used a SIMPLE OTG cable like this:
<<<LINK CANNOT BE SHOWN SINCE I AM NEW TO THE FORUM - picture is the second picture of the first post in this thread>>>
connected to an Y-cable SIMILAR to this:
<<<NO LINK AGAIN - the 3rd picture of the first post in this thread>>>
The difference from the one on the picture is that mine has a male mini USB end instead of a female normal USB end as in the picture. My cable is the cable of an external wichester otherwise.
So, I tried with this cable setup, the result was that both the phone and the connected storage received electricity from the external power source, but the storage was not detected by the phone. I had a feeling that it doesn't get enogh power, so I attached it to a USB phone charger just to be sure, but the situation remained the same: the light on the storage was green, which means it is charging, the light on the phone was also on, but the storage was not detected.
My question is if I should try with the exact same cable set that can be found in the first post of this thread on the first picture or mine also should do the job, and there should be still some software related problem?
Please also tell me if you need more information on this to answer it, however I tried to be specific.
Thank you for your help in advance.
Hello. What i can do on lolipop? There is no solution? I have a 32gb flash drive, y-otg cable, standart power adapter micro-usb-male. Rooted nexus4
Which zip I need to download?
Hi, i'm really beggining on Android stuffs, since I didnt had one until the last week, so I'm really in doubt about which one of the zip files i need to install in my system to make the OTG cable work properly.
Once I downloaded a random ziddley zip on the internet and when I installed it in recovery mode, i needed to reinstall the android system on my phone, since the phone wont boot anymore.
So, can anyone help me? I'm sharing in this post a screenshot of the Android Version screen on the settings. I've rooted my phone using the King Root app
Considering that my android version is 4.4.4, I consider that I may download one of the following:
4.4.x: 2013.12.11 1604ET: [fk r199] [fk r199-CM]
4.4.x: 2013.12.06 1445ET: [aosp r7]
But which one?
And just another noob question. Is this the right way to install the ziddley zip on my phone?
(www).addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-a-rom-or-app-from-zip-file-to-android-device-from-recovery/
Sorry for the noob questions and thanks to anyone who helps, because I REALLY need the otg cable to work, so I can develop some things using the XBOX 360 cable!

sm-t530nu 5.0.2 xbox kernel

I have a Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, model SM-T530NU with rooted stock ROM 5.0.2. I tried connecting my Xbox 360 controllers (wired and wireless) in order to use Moonlight client to play games over IP by streaming from my host Windows PC (via NVIDIA Gamestream). It seems that the Samsung kernels- at least for this device- don't support gamepads. I have found some threads for enabling Xbox 360 controllers with other Samsung devices and kernel versions, but the instructions did not work for me.
For example, I tried to insmod xpad.ko as root and obtained an exec format error: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...krn-modules-xpad-ko-xbox-360-gamepad-t1797439
Is there some source code for xpad kernel module that I can compile for my device, and some instructions for how to do this? I imagine I'm out of luck unless I find recent kernel sources that are configured to work with my device. Are there alternative kernels that have built-in support for xbox gamepads that are also compatible with my particular model? What's my best bet? Thanks

Need Some Help OTG + Charging

Hi,
Total noob here, I've been reading alot but a bunch of it is way over my head, and i can only watch so many videos. PLease break it down "barney style" for me...
So i have a Nexus 7 2012 Wi-FI + 3g, its unlocked, rooted and running 4.4.2 with TWRP 3.0.2.0 via the Nexus root tool. I have a OTG cable to be able to charge and use an external hard drive, and from what i'm reading i need to flash a new kernel to be able to use that. I've found Timur's kernel works to accomplish that, but i can not find that kernel, and he's stop hosting it since Sep. 28, 2014. Does anyone have that kernel? Does it work with 4.4.2 and TWRP? Are there other kernels that i can use vice Timur's that allow me to use the OTG + charging? Also i do not plan to install this in my car.
Thanks,
Adam

RD9700 drivers for Nexus Player

Hey everyone!
I'm running the Nexus Player with the 3.10.20-g43ab991 kernel and Android 7.1.1. I've bought a Micro USB to LAN adapter and it has the RD9700 chipset which is sadly not supported by default. However, I've found this post and they made a driver - unfortunately, for a very old kernel version.
Has someone this driver for newer kernels or could compile it for new kernels (unfortunately, I'm a total noob at this)?
Thanks!
I have no experience with that particular product but I can tell you that the TP-Link UE330 works with an OTG adapter cable.

More recent ROM similar to Timur's USB ?

I have a Nexus 2012 (Grouper) with Timur's USB ROM / Cyanogenmod 10.1 on there (my brother installed this - it's installed in the car).
I would like to upgrade to a newer ROM (Cyanogen 12?) but unsure of compatibility - every website I've read seems to be information overload (I'm new to android world).
I've been told I need a ROM that supports a Y-split OTG cable which runs into a powered USB hub.
The reason I'm wanting to upgrade is for BLE compatibility as I believe from what I've read, that this is possible on the Grouper with more recent versions of Cyanogenmod

I don't utilize OTG on my Nexus 7 at all so I don't have an answer for you. What I can tell you is that you should probably try what I did, flash them all. Also I don't recommend any rom above android 4.4.x due to the very "slow" nature of the Nexus 7
What’s is the newest one that is under 4.4?
