Google play music - Music playback error - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK so here is an odd one, got some music on my phone's internal memory. MP3 Format.
When I try and play it through Google music it give me a music playback error on every track.
If I go through file explorer and click on the individual files then choose Google play music from the pop up to actually play the track it works fine???
Anyone else had this issue?

I'm having an issue with music stored on my phone. Play Music will play the first track but has an error when trying to switch to the next song. Streaming music works though.

Go to settings>apps>media player and delete both cache and data. Then FC media player. Initiate a media scan somehow and it should work. Some media players you can do that from within the app. Others you'll have to reboot to start the scan.

OTA USB working fine...

Just update Stickmount app...
Yes, me too. Great news. Now I need to find an updated music player that can find the external mount point for the playlist (music folder). Dice (Cubed) player and Google Music don't seem to find the music, but I can read/write to external microsd or thumbdrive. If I click on a song in the external Music folder, it plays, but just stops after the song finishes. Anyone found a player that sees the external music?
Use poweramp great music player

Google play music application

The frustrat against android strikes again.
I'm just curious to know why in the world the songs available on Google play music on the Web keep getting double or tripled on my phone. I aprocimstely have around 800 songs on my entire playlist on Google music but on my phone it decides that some songs will show in double or triple... Why? Please explain me why?

You should use poweramp its way better and you can delete from there. I don't really know why but it may be categorizing the songs as different categories, artists, genres, etc. I also seen that when adding music that you downloaded from say torrent it sometimes makes double copies of the songs for some reason. I'd seen it happen a lot when I had an iPhone adding music via iTunes and I would have to go through all the songs and search for the doubled songs. But like I said download poweramp find a song that has doubled or tripled and delete the other one or two

The problem is not in the computer itself. It's the application or something. The song is only 1 time in my pc.
Also, does poweramp auto sync with iTunes? Like the music manager does?

it might be seeing a copy on the phone and a "copy" that it streams from their servers.

Make Shuttle default MP3 app when using Moto Voice

If I ask my phone to play some music, say "OK Moto X play some Marillion" it does a Google search then plays a random MP3 file in my Music folder using Google Play Music.
OK, very smart, but I have and prefer Shuttle music player.
So how do I get Shuttle to be the default MP3 player in this situation?
In a file explorer I have set Shuttle as the default app for MP3 files but when using Moto Voice it still starts up Google Play Music.

I believe google play music is the only player that Google search will use. I use to use poweramp and never had luck with that.

Solved it.
When Google search comes up and starts playing the music, showing the Google Play Music icon top right, there is a hamburger you can select and then choose the music app of choice.
Simple when you know how but not very intuitive. Would have been nice to have been asked the first time.
Spoke too soon. The above isn't a permanent change as far as I can see. Next time I tried asking for music it reverted to Google Play Music again.
