Is there a way to have a secure lock screen (password/pin) and still have lock screen widgets?

I second this.
I had the HTC One for a little over a week before i went S4 and I loved that the HTC One had this feature.

Hi there,
Is it possible to just change the lockscreen background but leave the rest of the lockscreen the same?
I know that there are several applications which will provide an alternate lockscreen but I would much rather keep the original if possible.
Cheers.
I'd like to know this too. Even my HTC Tattoo could have separate wallpaper and lockscreen backgrounds. Why not on the desire?

At a guess it's something to do with the live wallpapers.
search the market for WidgetLocker.

lockbot is a good alternative, you get several styles of lock screen and all are customizable
Just installed Lockbot Free to check it out, not very impressed to be honest, the original lock screen appears for a couple of seconds before the Lockbot one which ruins the whole appearence.
Have I done something wrong or is this just how it is?
EDIT
OK, bought & installed WidgetLocker which seems much better. There is still a delay if you lock the phone & then turn the screen back on straight away where it shows the original lock screen but it is negligable. I haven't experimented with all the options yet but it seems pretty comprehensive.
just noticed the wildfire has the option to change lockscreen
I have seen callender appointments added to the lock screen on an iphone 4. Can this be done on the DHD or only on 7 home screens?
You need to override the lock screen with one like Widget Locker
Hey guys, I unfortunately upgraded to 4.2 and want to get rid of that awful clock on the lock screen. From what I've heard, you can get an HD Widgets widget on the lock screen and I want to do so, but I have literally no idea as to how to do so.
Can anyone help?
On the lock screen swipe right until you see the plus sign, tap on it and the unlock your screen the option for HD widget should be there if you have it installed!

When I swipe to the right, the clock tilts, but nothing else appears (the animation is similar to when you try to swipe to a homescreen but the one you're on is the last one, so it just stops).
I have also tried to add HD Widgets to the lock screen but when I swipe all the way to the plus sign it's greyed out and I cannot do anything other than log in. Strange.
Before I installed HD Widgets, I could click the + sign and I had the option to add the clock and a few other widgets.
This baffled me for a bit too.
You have to go into HD Widgets Settings>Widget sizes and enable lockscreen.

Okay, thanks. So I've enabled lockscreen, but when I go to the lockscreen, it still won't let me swipe at all.

Meaning you don't see the white line/box along the left at all when the screen starts up?

Already tried that myself, infact mine was already ticked for tablets, unticked for phones, so perhaps the latest version detects a tablet.
Anyway, this didn't work for me either. I can swipe to the plus sign, then that is about all I can do.

How did you guys get to 4.2? You might try reflashing the OTA.

OTA update. And it solved the issue. I had the lockscreen state to disallow widgets. I'm dumb.

How do you set the lock screen to disallow widgets? Do I have to be rooted? I hate those widgets.

Thanks. Didn't know this was an option on 4.2
Pretty sweet
Not sure if this was addressed already but is there ANY way, even if the device needs to be rooted, for the camera or apps to be accessible through lockscreen without having to unlock similar to IOS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You can download this right here and have the iOS 7 lock screen which you can set up the camera up to it. Also if you don't put a pass code on your phone you can have widgets on it and you can pull your camera up from there as well.

Can't you just setup a PIN in your phone then enable the Camera to appear as a Lock Screen Widget from your lockscreen?

if you setup a PIN to unlock you phone you can't have a lockscreen widget besides the clock, but if you set just swipe to unlock, you can add more widgets to your lockscreen ( if you enable multiple lockscreen widgets on settings->lockscreen). Just swipe down when you're on lockscreen and then swipe from left to right to add more widgets

But will this give me access to the camera without first unlocking my phone?
This seems to be a big problem with the S4
I use widget locker. It will give you what you're looking for and worth every penny.

After the first week or so with lockscreen widgets on other phones, I found them useless. They were limited in information and functionality... and honestly, my muscle memory was to pickup my phone and unlock it. Then if they magnified to the full screen, the area to swipe to unlock got small... I just think for me, they were a waste. Once I am 2 or 3 swipes, or touches in, I can unlock it just as fast.
I hope someone figures out how to add them back. I have an ICE app that I need to have a lock screen widget for.
I always used the message g widget, always quicker than unlocking and going into the messaging app, I also used the app shortcut widget that u swipes to the right for, especially after getting spoiled using cover lockscreen, which I uninstalled due to too many bugs

The same for me. Please, help us!
I know that with root, I can use Xposed framework and download galaxy s5 widget to do it... but what about Note4 without root ?
(P.S. I'm sorry for my English...)
Ice contact lock screen
You can add your ICE contact (phone number etc.) to lockscreen by writing it in to the "owner information" -field, which can be found under lockscreen settings. No need for ICE-app.
