Ok, so, I'm slightly late to the party, but got here finally
Wanted to root my 9500, but a search took me to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39197512
The 3rd post in that topic that talks about rooting is for 9505
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39197525&postcount=3
and it also talks about recoveries, but how do I root
... can anyone guide me, please?

Hello everyone. Sorry, I'm new to rooting and the forums, but I tried searching around the threads, both here and the AT&T Note 3 threads, and I couldn't find anything about rooting AT&T version of the phone. If anyone could link me to a thread that will let me root this, please post here, or if it's unrootable, please let me know, I tried searching for it.

The only ways to root mj5 is kingo or vroot which currently isn't allowed on the forums due to the suspicion of them containing malware.
N900AUCUBMJ5 Root yet?

I am wondering that same thing. I have 4.3 now rooted and getting rid of root seems unthinkable. The Note 3 is so powerful when properly setup, however the only way to set it up is having root functionality. I hope something comes soon because the build I keep seeing for N900AUCUMJ5 is buggy from what I read thus far. I can not wait for a stable root.

I also am desperate for someone much better at this than I to find a method. I hate the OTA! If we can't root, has anyone figured out how to remove the odin write protection so we can revert to the leak?
I'm stuck at this point waiting for a root method too. Does anyone know if Kingo will eventually add kitkat ? Have they been slowly upgrading the tool so far?

every one of those were saying no root method yet. So thanks for the help..
Chances are it will be a long while before we get any sort of root. I willingly took NC4 and have no regrets. Maybe one day we will get an unlock.

Fair question but i don't recall seeing many stickies on things you can't do
Also something like this requires little more than a Google search really

Perhaps, but maybe it will bring more awareness to it. I also installed the update without doing research to see if it could be rooted after, and now am sorely disappointed I cannot load cyanogenmod on it.
I've been searching all over and it still doesn't look like there's a solution for it. Hopefully somebody more experienced comes along, reads this, and figures out a solution for the rest of us mere mortals
Refer to the sticky that says do not OTA update.

with a BOUNTY of $18,500 for root it will certainly be no secret when/if its accomplished.

Refer to my utter lack of time travel capabilities, else I'd have flashed NC2 in the first place and not be in this pickle. (EDIT--should read "reading" capabilities, not "travel"!)

Precisely.
I want to root my S5. The guide you have sticky is outdated and is missing many download links such as the TAR and USB Drivers. How do I do it?

Instead of the snarky comments most people will make to search better, I'll actually be helpful!
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
Just used it myself on my T-mobile flavored S5 2 days ago - no problems at all.
You will trip your knox warranty flag though, and as of now there is no way to un-do it, and there may never be one either.
Have fun!

There's a reason people say to search...so we don't get these pointless threads that could easily be avoided with just a google search.
OP: His link is the right link, but please please please just search next time. :good:
I apologize if this has come up before but i can't seem to find a definitive thread on rooting NI2 at xda-developers. I search in this forum for "NI2 root" and all the topics were not specifically related to rooting from stock NI2.
I've browsed and searched a bit and was going to root my NE9 this evening, however today i accidentally pressed the wrong button (upgrade now, instead of upgrade later) and upgraded to NI2. I found this method for rooting NI2 here
http://techbeasts.com/2014/09/25/ho...-on-android-4-4-4-kit-kat-official-firmware/#
Is this method valid? I have never rooted this device before and have all my apps and layout the way i like it. Can i root the NI2 without flashing/resetting the device?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much, i guess i'm confused as to why the search function would not find that thread when i specifically searched for two of the terms in the title of the thread? I typed "root" and "NI2" . Just so i'm clear that is an I "eye" not an l "ell" right?

Why no in fact i haven't, but before yesterday i hadn't heard of N"eye"2 either, or towleroot, or safestrap. I'm what you might call a noob with this particular piece of hardware. So did you have any idea why my search string did not turn up the thread mentioned (or anything else constructive) or were you just trying to get your post count up?

Hey there everyone,
I have had the S7 Edge for a long time now, and want to start rooting it and installing TWRP. Was always easy to do it on my previous phones, but this one just has me confused. I've looked through the forums and everything trying to find an answer before writing this, but no luck here.
So, does anyone have a guide or could direct me where or how I am supposed to root and install twrp?
Thank you so very much.

rooting is hacking!
so in new smartphone some companies tried to make it more difficult to approach it
you have to read carefully and do all steps in dev sections.
for example
