Is your screen at max brightness? When you click on your screen in that screen what kind of on time are you getting before it's dead? I get 3-4 hours usually
Its all the way down and on auto. And it says 1 hour and 45 mins

What does betterbatterystats say?
I have the same problem, but I get around 2:30 screen on. About 6-8 hours usage, I've been trying different ways of charging to see if it will extend life, I might try to use power saver mode next if I can't find a way to get better life.
I have same problem too. This is day 7 for me since I acquired the device. The first day I thought the drain was from the amount of usage during my setting up the device. But now even after a full charge. It will be down to 92% just sitting in my holster in about an hours time. The battery would drain in about 8 to 10 hours.
The only massive usage in the battery status page I see is the screen and I have set that at lowest brightness and then auto. Im using battery saver as well. Im thinking about taking this to AT&T store tomorrow to see about battery or device replacement.
We shall see.

That is definitely abnormally high battery drain. I get less than 1.5% drain / hour when the phone is idle. So your drain seems to be more than 5 times higher!
It may be a misbehaving app.

If you are in a building with pretty thick walls that could drain your battery also due to the phone using more power to acquire a signal. I work in a building that house a lot of servers and notice it uses more battery than when I'm not at work.

This i can agree with, when i visit my parents in the middle of nowhere my battery on any phone every has always died in 3 hours looking for a signal so this might be relevant if you're in a porr signal area.
If you're curious about where you sit for coverage try this app RF Signal Tracker - Play Store Link
Typical battery life. Auto brightness. Poor signal also and on wifi.

I'm having this problem too, I don't understand BBS but here's a screenshot of the screen.
I'm tired of this, how can a new and expensive cellphone's battery lasts like 8 hours without even really using it.
My drain was resolved. Android battery stats indicated the screen was draining the battery. BBS indicated my WIFI use was. But neither usage seemed too much.
A visit to the local AT&T store got me a new battery. Albeit some arm twisting occured trying to convince them of the hardware issue.
Yesterday, after overnight charge the previous night, I ended the day with a 72 % battery.
Did a quick charge to 100 percent this morning and my charge dropped 1% in 1 hour. With heavy usage, I sit currently at 72%.
Much better results and happier.

So the day I bought my vibrant I had data issues. I talked a tmobile tech support guy and he helped me with my problem, great. But afterwards he asked me how I was liking my phone since he had one as well. We talked some about the phone and all, but then I asked about the battery life.
Heres the interesting part, he said after getting around 5 hours of use out of a full charge, he put the battery in the freezer over night (in a zip lock) and charge it afterwards. He claims to be getting a whole 24 his of battery with moderate use.
Is there any truth to this statement? I'm sure he was over exaggerating to some extant but he was a tech and I wanna take his word for it but dont want to try it lol.
Another thing is I want to know other ways to improve my battery life. I heard "training a battery" thrown around these forums, how do I do this?
I try to keep stupid services from running by going to settings>app>running services. Is this enough or is there a better way?
First post, hope it was a good one lol.
I hear ya man the battery is really bothering me too. It's basically dead by the time u get home, which is not good enough for me. I called T-Mobile and they are sending me another battery.
When I get the new battery I'll try the freezer thing.

when i got the phone i calibrated the battery like i did with my g1 with the cm releases. basically let the battery die completely then charge fully. don't know if that had any effect, but with how much i use my phone (moderate-light texting, browsing, gps when it works, no gaming) i could probably get through 2 full days. with playing some games i can still easily get a full day.
putting the battery in the freezer overnight shouldn't have any long term effect on the battery. it may improve your battery life very shortly because a colder battery holds it's charge better, but once it's heated up (or at regular idle temp in your phone) any small benefit you may have had is gone.
Try Juice Defender. It is working wonders for me. I am going on 8 hours of up time and I am at 75%. Normally I would be getting close to needing a charge.

What settings do you use? Do you use the default settings from the setup?
What the heck are you guys doing to kill your batteries?
I use my phone off/on all day off the charger at 6am and I turn it off and charge it at 11pm. Often I'm normally around 30-60% depending on the use through out the day.
Turn off what you don't need. I mean do you need wifi on all day? Do you need 3G on all day? I'm guessing you don't unless you are streaming video all day.

I think its just luck of the draw. When i first got my Vibrant i was getting at least 20 hours out of a charge. I had to exchange my phone due to a few annoying dead pixels and now im lucky to get 8 - 10 hours out of a charge. Everything is set up as it was on my original phone.

I have all widgets turned off, wifi off, gps off, brightness on minimum and a solid/static black wallpaper.
I use the phone for very few calls and very few txts... mostly use it for web browsing throught the day and some news apps - with a little paper toss mixed in.
I use my phone more than the average guy, but the usage is in line with my usage on my iphone and HD2. I know how to be gentle on the battery, but I still have to charge it when I get home from work.
My battery lasted 2 days the other day. Got down to 15 percent. It's very strange. I was using it but not very often maybe once every few hours. But I played some ff7 to demo to my friends, used the gps to get directions. Most importantly I started killing all nonessential apps with astro immediately after I stopped using them. I think this is what's prolonging my battery. Sure theyre not using anymore cpu cycles but they're still taking up ram, and that is a constant drain folks.

There is no difference in draw whether you are using 1K or 256 MB, the chip will always draw the same amount of power to maintain the memory.
I measured current consumption from the battery. It takes about 20 to 60 seconds for the CPU and everything to ramp down into their sleep state. Anything that wakes it up often kills batteries quick. I believe most of the power being used is idly switching sleep states. Can't wait for custom ROMs to allow tuning.
How is everyone's battery life... I think I came in overhyped by some reviews like engadget's praising the battery life of this phone but in reality haven't been too impressed.
I have to change how I use my phone in order to make it through the day... I did cone from an iphone 4 though...
Give it a day or so. My initial full charge barely lasted a few hours. My next one, though, lasted 12+ hours with pandora running, and the screen on half the time.
Give it a little time. Battery and phone both need to calibrate their readings. I got ~7 hours with display on today (1.5 hours browsing, 5+ hours movie).
Got my phone a few days ago. Last night I went to bed at 12 and didn't plug in my phone, it had 50% remining. I woke up at 11 am and the phone was dead. I charged it to full, now its reporting 30% at 11 hours later. This is with night mode on and I barely touched the phone today, maybe 20 texts max. The thing using most of the battery is phone idle.

1) this is like the 10th battery thread. Many answers can be found in the others.
2) Yes. Your battery needs to calibrate over time.
3) Android users more battery when on because of all the things it syncs with in the background: weather, mail, maps, etc.
4) again due to it's syncing it uses more in the background. To find out what dial *#*#info#*#* and look at the battery stats of what had been running. Look at Other Usage especially.

Download Green Power in the Market. Insane improvement. I've used it on my Nexus One (Atrix is coming tomorooow!! for a month now and I've gone 50-60% plus on duration.
I have been running slacker and just web browsing for approx 1.5 hours and am down from 100% to 70%... This is after about four days of nightly charging. I am running green power too with no wifi managment. I have gps etc off. The battery analysis shows that the display is using 80% of the juice. Is any of this normal or is something wrong here?

The Atrix's battery is the best battery in an Android phone I've used to date. I just left Sprint and thought the Epic 4G's battery was decent. After using this for a few days, I realize that the battery in this thing is AWESOME!
While we were with Sprint, my wife had the EVO 4g and now has the Inspire 4G. NONE of these phone hold a candle to the battery life of the Atrix.
So i left mine unplugged over night again, just tried to turn it on and i got "Modem did not power up (0). Starting RSD protocol support. Battery is too Low to flash.
battery info and network searching
First post here and I'm not a developer but have some feedback for this. Couldn't share without registering first. Won't be a pest.
Had the battery issue with the atrix and called att. The suggested a microcell booster as i was only getting one bar here (H+) at home. The store in San Diego gave me one for free and I installed it and have been off the charger for well over 24 hours now and at 50%. granted I'm not using it much as I have computer at home too. However, just sitting on the table before the booster and it would be at 50% in 4 hours.
Went to the laguna mountains in the middle of nowhere two days ago and it had edge network only. The battery lasted all day and night. The drive out there had H+ and edge in the middle of the cleavland nat forest.
If the atrix is searching for networks it uses battery like crazy.
Also tech support said there was no way to force edge connectivity on the atrix. There has been a code suggested here (I don't recall it now) that is supposed to do it but it is only for international use.

I always wondered why some SGS3 users seemed to have great battery life and others didn't then I found out why for myself. I had my S3 for maybe 5 days then managed to crack the screen from a short fall (the screen is really too delicate) so had it replaced through my insurance. I returned the broken device but kept the accessories including the battery of which I now have two...yeah! The battery from the replacement device always drained entirely too much on standby time and gave me roughly 12 hours on moderate use. The original battery routinely gave me 17+ hours on moderate and had exceptional standby time. I subsequently returned to using my original battery and enjoying great battery life on my replacement phone.

ya i'm with you there cause a lot of people complain about battery life but mine seems to be great yes i can drop my phone from 80-60% in 2 to 3 hours but thats extremely heavy use where if i don't use my phone at all i find i will go through about 20% of the battery for the full day and that is with light use as well
Mainly due to signal if your in an area where your signal is bad, your phone constantly polling for signal if you use WiFi the whole time then yes you would get long battery life. That's why I don't trust any screen shot in "post your battery life" with WiFi signal. I use my phone as it comes with my plan, I don't constantly seek out WiFi spot to hook up to. It's dangerous for security reason and defeat the whole purpose of owning smart phone with data plan. If you can't afford a data plan than don't get a smart phone.

Juice defender kills batteries more than it helps I strongly recommend you stop using it. Battery saving maps don't typically work because it uses a lot of energy to re enable 3g/4g/lte and to turn them off. I disable everything I don't use. Have Bluetooth in everyday all day, GPS, and sync. I have about 60 apps.
Today I'm at 62% with 1 hour 10 mins of screen time. 8tracks for 30 minutes. And about a half hiur of calls. Not bad battery life IMO. I browse tapatalk a lot on various forums.

Proof of battery life
Approximately 30 mins of call time and 2 hours of talk time... 44 hours later my phone was about ready to die! Clearly this was light to moderate use but this gives me great hope that I should be able to last more than the 12 hours I was getting on my other battery with moderate usage. I credit the longevity to the use of CPU tuner, Juice Defender, the build in power saving mode (everything checked except CPU), and applying the cell standby tweak (though its utility is debatable).
My battery life has been pretty good. However, the number one thing consistently using battery is "Android System". Is this normal? Thanks!
Same here. On all my other Android phones Screen is the top user.
U are using ips technology on the screen unlike amold that saamy used which kills the battery in hours in full brightness . As you could see that the iPhone has good batttery life because the 720p ips screen.

I've found that rebooting the phone after taking it off of charge, the battery life is awesome. There seem to be some wakelocks that kill the battery and for some reason, charging has something to do with it.
I don't know if this is why, but I heard the G2 has special screen technology that greatly reduces battery drain.

If you look at the programs listed under Android System, try uninstalling the ones that you would never use. This has seemed to help me. But to be honest it was kind of unnessary because the battery life is just crazy badass. In a few weeks or so when the devs have there way this phone is going to be epic.
It is two things, which by the way are great news.
A) LG's screen tech which doesn't refresh pixels when the images are static
and B) IPS
What we can't control is screen power consumption, but guess what? We can control android system consumption through kernels and roms. This means that we can *hopefully* expect EVEN BETTER! battery life since the screen is, for 80% of users, the main culprit for energy drain.
Just a quick note that flashing CleanROM on my ATT LG G2 basically took my battery life from <20% at the end of the workday to just under 80% at the end of the work day with increased use on the CleanROM install. Highly recommended.
Been off the charger since 6:50 this morning. Sitting here at work doing some texting, Words With Friends, and a test call for a co-worker...96% at 12:15pm. My Nexus would have been at 40% by now.
So is Android System different from Android OS?
I normally can squeeze out 15-22 hours since installing Snapdragon Battery Guru. Which has been working great until today.
Here's my situation today:
-100% charge at around 1230am. Light to moderate usage leaves me with
-77% between night before and waking up (only dropped like 2% overnight) at
-830, then i worked from 9 to 1230 so i didnt use my phone too much. But since ive been off work ive been using it more so im not too surprised about my low battery level currently.
But what concerns me is Android OS using half my battery! It says its been active for more than 4 hours and i dont understand where it comes from. Its way more than my screen usage even with a screen time of little over 3 hours.
Anyone know whats up with Android OS? It doesnt tell me what is running when i select it so im lost.
Also ive done many of the suggestions in this thread with positive results. Ive been monitoring my wakelocks and since doing some of the suggestions on here nlpcollector has actually gone down.

Anyone know whats up with Android OS? It doesnt tell me what is running when i select it so im lost.
Also ive done many of the suggestions in this thread with positive results. Ive been monitoring my wakelocks and since doing some of the suggestions on here nlpcollector has actually gone down.

Just to benchmark .... I used the phone moderatley ..
I did.. a little over 50 hours of total on time
4.75 hours of on screen time,
2 hours of spotify with bluetooth for the entire time,
2 hours of MapMyRun with GPS running ..
then various text messaging and a couple phone calls
The only modifications i've made to the stop experiance is taking of google's location service for programs, but leaving GPS active .. and changing the screen to auto-brightness, baseline of 50%.
I came from the SGS2 ..... with 1 hour of on screen time and the other spotify and bluetooth .. i'd be around 10-20% after 8-10 hours !!!!!
Mines pretty awesome.

I'm not sure if my battery is defective or not. Right out of the box was around 75% and I drained it until it turned off then charged it to full.
Over the next few days at work it's on wifi and then on 3G/4G before /after work. I pull it from the charger at 7:30am and by 7pm its at 40%. Then on Friday night I unplugged it at 12am with 100% and woke up the next day with 80%. It's dropping like 1% about 10-15minutes. Would a factory reset fix the battery drain? or call for a replacement?

wow that's really amazing. ill try that out and disable google location services and see what happens. will that interfere with google now? i mean i would totally sacrifice google now for 50 hours though.

Hi all.
Just a quick question. My battery life is great but i feel like it could be much better. Here are my current stats as i write this.
With this its saying i will get under 4 hours screen on time, i wouldnt say i was a heavy user. I use my phone quite a bit but i wouldnt say it was alot.My biggest problem is with the android system anyone else have it as such a big drain? Somedays its sat up at 40%
Anyone know what i can do to rectify this? Im currently not rooted..
Thanks in advance
Liam
There are just two possibilities.
LG stock rom is so bloated that it sucks most of battery or GRAM feature is so good that screen time is not really problem anymore.
Forgot to mention, my screen time was 2hr 30 so probably looking at not even getting 4 hours screen on time.. Gonna have to guess that it's the stock rom sucking up loads of battery? Would that cause the android system percentage to be so high?
I'm having the same issue here.. Getting 4 hours screen ttime though...

install greenify. it save my battery. last longer.
I can easily reach 6 hours screen on time. And I'm a heavy user and by no means try to save battery. multiple social networks, emails syncing etc often streaming music and watch videos and brightness set to a constant 75%. This is on StockModRom. So yeah I'd say something is draining your battery unnecessarily there.
Try installing better battery stats:

see if anything is keeping your phone awake, I'm sure the guys over at that forum can help you, don't forget to Thank/donate to the guy if his app helped you. Whats your drain when phone is left overnight? mine varies between 0-3%.

Strange..
Hopefully better battery stats will show me whats up!
Okay last night over night the battery dropped 10% im pretty sure this is not normal.. gonna have to dig deep and find the cause..

If you find one, please let me know. As Android System is also eating my battery.

Strangely, for me, when I go over ~2h screen time the Android System drain is taken over by the Screen drain. This being said, I never got over 3h30m of screen time - this is with about 10h WiFi (including overnight => ~2% drain) and about 7h 3G. I have noticed plenty of crap among the kernel wakelocks, but I lack the knowledge to remove them in the source code and rebuild the kernel.
Also, BBS is among the apps that trigger a Qualcomm bug regarding sensor kernel wakelocks (sns_async_ev_wakelock), which, obviously, lead to more battery drain.
All of this is not really acceptable coming from a company like Qualcomm (the sensor bug, in particular, is present ever since the S3 QC version...).
I'll second that Greenify is pretty good at saving battery.
I too have had a screen on time of 6 hours 11 mins over a duration of being off charge for over 14 hours
I'm using StockMOD kernel but the ROM itself is stock as i can't seem to get StockMOD rom to boot.
Also if you Root try TricksterMOD and use multicore savings etc maybe get a bit more life from your battery
Hope battery life gets better for you as it is an awesome phone would be nice for you to enjoy it as much as the rest of us

Okay, so i gave up finding what it was. did a system restore and well what can i say? apart from WOW.
been on for 26 hours now with 2hr 20mins screen on time and still at 62% absolutely amazing!
still unsure whether to root and try and squeeze even more battery out of it!
Still annoyed i never found out what was causing the issue..
Wow just wow. This was my last charge, absolutley incredible.
This includes 1hr 45min of music streaming.
Streaming a 2hr 20 min film.
Twitter/facebook/emails and a tiny maybe 10 mins of web browsing.
I have with cyanogenmod 11 a very nice Akku.
99% Akku - 5 hours standby (Internet GPS.... On)
58% Akku - 4.5 houers tune in radio (everytime Internet on)
I think that's whery good
