[Q] No Wi-Fi roaming with WPA2-PSK? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have three APs at my home, they all have the same ESSID, password and configuration - checked with iwconfig.
Yesterday, I bought an S4 and was very unpleasantly surprised. S4 only connects to the last access point that was in range when I entered the password. When I move out of the range towards a different AP, it gives me an "Authentication error".
I then have to confirm the password without actually changing it. Then again, I cannot connect to the previous AP without reconfirming.
What the hell? Is this to be called a "feature"?

[Q] data connection causing "ppp..." error message

it seems like this happened maybe after I started using my phone with my dsl router for internet via wifi. anyway, I believe the error message also says something about the #777 that the connection dials as if it's a problem. I'm assuming that has always been the number, so maybe the problem isn't the number (?). so now I can barely connect to the internet with my data connection.google maps comes up tho momentarily.
MY experience with this has been totally annoying! ! ! The single and ONLY BAD thing about this phone.
What I experience is that for some unknown reason the Imagio looses the password to the data connection, and therefore can't connect the data side. It remembers the user name ([email protected]) but looses the password.
The only solution Ihave found is to go to settings/connections/connections/manage existing and edit the connection and re-re-re-re-re-re-re-enter the password.
I changed the registry setting in HKLM\comm\connMgr\Providers\7c4b...blah\VerizonWireless\RequirePw to 0, but no joy
I also changed connections.xml to include the [email protected], AND password, and requirePw = 0 with no joy there either.
I use WiFi when I'm at home, and every time I leave home, I have to re-enter the password. This is totally annoying.
IF I leave the data connection on, it will remain connected, but if I disconnect, I will have to reenter the password. That sucks.
I'm using the stock MR2 ROM.
Oh, no help from VZW, they say it's some program I'm running. Yeah, right.
Like there's a piece of software or some game that I'm running that's going to change the data connection's password. Right, and I own swamp land in Florida too.
It's bad enough that I can't use a hard IP address on Wifi when at home because the CDMA data side will also try to use that hard address, so the only solution I found is to use DHCP on WiFi so it will also work on the CDMA side.
IF someone knows a way that I can have something enter the password even on a timed basis, I would be very happy.
Until then, every time I connect to the CDMA data side, I have to enter the password or get the damn ppp error, can't connect message.
Just sharing MY experience.....
so what's the password?
For verizon (which is what I know)
Verizon
Username:
[email protected]
Password:
vzw
oh silly me. i use pageplus. but thanks anyway

[Q] WIFI TLS problem

Hello,
I'm connecting to my company network, using TLS and certificate that was issued for me. Everything works fine, until I decide to switch off WIFI or connect to another network, when I'm trying to connect to company's network back, it refuses to connect without any error message.
The connect back, I need either to reboot the device or "forget network" and declare it all over again, with certificate identity etc ...
I'm using KitKat 4.4.2, tried to change device name, disable wifi optimization, change freq. nothing help.
Anyone saw this problem before?
thanx in advance.
Tried the same on my Nexus 4 and could not recreate the issue. Looks like something specifically in Nexus 10....

[Q] obtaining ip address...

I've run into a weird problem. Today I got internet at my new place, and of course first thing I do is whip out my trusty mini wireless router (TendaLink w300m) to provide all of our computers with fresh wifi. The laptops are fine. But now...
My G900F refuses to connect to the wireless network. Other places were fine, no such problem, but here I get
obtaining ip address...
but here it stays. Sometimes it gives a final error "Failed to obtain IP address"..
I tried using a static IP, that did actually work as far as connecting to the network (so password error can be excluded), but I couldn't get any data / website / mail to load.
I tried restarting, and toggling the "Smart network switch" (which wasn't switched on in the first place).
I changed the channel of the router twice, to no avail.
To make it all even more unfunny, I frequently get a popup telling me "Network disabled because internet connection is slow" (although Smart Network Switch is OFF)
If anyone has a solution to this , please let me know!
Try to rule out the issue being the router, reboot it and if that doesnt solve the problem factory restore the router or change it out.

I usually just restore the router to factory settings. Beyond, that, I don't know.

The Problem was solved by analyzing the new Network properties and adjusting the router settings which were quite different from the old ones. Now all is well.

No WiFi connection to Android Hotspot

Hall,
I got a TM530, rooted with Towelroot, no modifications otherwise.
When trying to connect to phone's WiFi Hotspot im getting asked for the password, after entering it there's the message "Connecting..." for a second or so - but I won't get a connection [emoji17]
A few days ago this was no problem - I'm a bit lost here.
My phone's running with Slimkat ROM with two weeks old weekly build, didn't change anything there, too.
Changing Hotspot setup and deleting the connection from WiFi menu on the tablet led to no success either ?
Any hints anyone? I'd appreciate

Pretty common problem tethering from a phone to tablet with the native tether method due to its lack of settings. Download the app WIFItether Router by Fabio Grasso. When you set it up, under "hotspot/tethering settings" make your SSID whatever you desire, use wpa2-psk for encryption type, then set a password, and desired channel (I usually use 11). Then under "device settings" for Interface select wlan1, under method use Method 3-HostApd, under drivers select nl80211, select WiFi -g for wifi mode. Then under "tweaks" check MTU adjust and also check HostApd patch. Now go back and select "enable wifi router". That should solve your issue.

Galaxy S5 DNS Issue

In the past week my Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V - Android version 5, Kernal 3.4.0) has lost the ability to connect to the internet a few times when wifi is on (under wifi, it appears that it is connected successfully to the wifi but when using the internet I get an error message about DNS not working).
This first time it happened was at at home and I thought that maybe my router just needed to be reset (which didn't fix the issue) but it happened at work today.
Both at home and at work, the only thing that I could do to fix the issue was restarting the phone (resolved the issue at both locations).
I tried all of the following suggestions with no luck:
Turning wifi off and then back on
Making sure that 'Always allow scanning' and 'Smart network switch' were both turned off on my phone
Choosing the wifi network on the phone and 'forgetting' it and then connecting to it fresh
Setting the DNS servers on the wifi network of the phone to use a static IP address and static Google DNS servers
Trying a different browser on the phone
The only thing that has resolved the issue once it starts is to restart the phone.
Any other suggestions?
