I rooted my S4, flashed to a rom, now switched back to stock, wich i updated now.
However since i updated rooting doesn't seem to work anymore,
and whenever i press my wifi button it goes on but immediatly goes off giving me a "Prevention information".
My question now is can i fix my WiFi?
(factory reset did not work)

if you flash back a stock ROM u wont have root anymore
Hi newer updates have a security fix that prevents rooting. The fix is in the kernel. Please see this thread to root and fix any warning messages.

hello xdadev,
i really need your help. I am a newbie in android world [just purchased my first android device] last month [samsung galaxy tab p6800]. since then, i was really excited to explore android world and its features where I was led to this site.
now, heres my problem: just this afternoon, at first, i used my wifi to access a shopping mall internet connection. but minutes after turning my wifi off, when i turned it on again to connect to another network, i was surprised that it wont start and when i open the settings menu, under it says error. im really worried.
had my unit restored to factory settings but still no changes. Rooted my galaxy tab but today, i unrooted it thinking that the rooting caused the trouble.
im also hoping to update my tab to ICS but with this problem, im really stuck! i dont know how to access my apps in the appstore.
is this a firmware error or a hardware problem? please help me. my tab helps me a lot.
thanks in advance. im willing to add some details if you could help me.:crying:
try to go back to the mall where it 1st connected, if it still doesn't connect, then use your warranty and ask for replacement.
7.7 is notorious for being a bit choosy when it comes to wifi, sometimes, it just stuck with "obtaining IP address" then will revert back to scanning.
I also encountered your error before, but I just simply turn the wifi on and off again
before going back to your retailer, try to totally deplete the battery first (it's like removing the battery) then charge your unit and try to connect again
good luck
the last thing i could remember was busybox got updated but failed to install. is there any possibility that the failure caused the problem?
nope

Ah, sorry, busybox could, and may very likely be the culprit! An older version did just that to my (I have the 6810), and a number of others, tabs.
This was for Stericson's version 8.0 and here was his reply to my email:
Sadly you fell prey to a bug that was in Version 8.0 of my installer. I fixed it in 8.1, but it seems many still got the bugged version.
To fix the issue, you need to reflash your current rom. You do not need to wipe or clear any data.
You can also look in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691410&page=2
It has an update method that should fix your issues.
Again, I apologize for this error
Please let me know if you need anything else from me.
I did just that and reflashed my rom using Odin and then re-rooted. I haven't, since, re-installed Stericson's busybox although later versions supposedly fixed the problem. I see there has just been another update in the Play store.
Damn I got the same error today, also after a lot of updates came trough.
Still working on fixing it. Will restore backup first after full wipe..
EDIT : Ok just went to recovery via power+volume up , factory reset, a nandroid restore and wifi working again.
Phew.
Ah! Got my tab working again. Thanks guys for the link and comments. The (update. Zip), did fix the issue. Busybox related bug. Starting to re download my apps again since I got my tab data wiped. :-(

Not rooting my phone as of now. Will wait for the ICS first before rooting again. Tab is fully working already.

Just tried to flash again. First I had issues with camera firmware and finally go a fix for it. Now I'm having issues with my contacts closing. Tried force close and delete data numerous times with reboots with no success. ... any ideas?
I gotta say... I also have a htc one and flashing roms left and right. The unlocked bootloader makes life so much easier! Even with work around for boot loader the process seems iffy on the s4. Flashed 3 roms and none work perfectly. ...sucks as I really want to run omega rom!!! Lol
Your obviously doing something wrong. You should read the op in the omega thread carefully. And then after that read op of how to flash a rom on your particular device. I'm assuming at&t

What could I possibly doing wrong? I wiped everything 3 times before flashing and used a loki kernel for att phones. This isn't my first Samsung or first time flashing roms. Are you on a att s4? If so what are the steps your taking? I'm flashing with twrp.
I followed steps here

Did you happen to change carrier signals in buildprop? I did that on the omega rom and my phone/contacts app kept crashing when I changed the buildprop signal settings to the AT&T version. Had to put it back to the regular i9505 settings and my contacts worked just fine again.
ro.product.device=jflte
ro.product.model=GT-I9505
ro.product.name=jfltexx
This is the thread that talks about changing some settings in buildprop in order to change the signal icons and removing the carrier label
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261953&highlight=signal
Omg yes I did change build prop. Wanted to have my lte symbol again instead of 4g. Doh! I will give it one more try
Just tried again with no luck.... Still have the same issue...
my contacts app wouldnt work as well, but i had a back up from TB and i just restored that and it worked fine. not sure what caused it
The AxMan in another thread told me to open contacts from the app drawer 2-3 times and then from the dialer hit contacts 2-3 times and it started working again.
It says clearly in the op of the omega thread to NOT wipe anything. You Odin flash the stock ROM, then boot it up, after your done that go into recovery and flash omega ROM. Then you flash kernel of your choice

Hello all,
My apologies if this is a common issue. I have searched but the only old thread about it is the following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190960
and no real answer was suggested there, which is why I am asking it again.
So the issue is the same as in that previous thread: quite often, when I longpress the power button, the menu (to shut down, put it on vibrate mode, ...) does not pop up. The only way to get it back is to hold the power button until the phone shuts down, and then reboot the phone, after which it works again (for god knows how long).
I was rooted (with stock rom) before 4.3, but lost my root when updating to 4.3, so I was on stock ROM without root when the problem first appeared. Now yesterday I rooted again and flashed paranoid android ROM (first factory reset, clearing cache and dalvik cache), but the problem remains.
In that old thread one member solved the problem by flashing the stock kernel, however I have never flashed another kernel so I doubt the kernel is the problem?
If anybody knows the issue and a way to solve it, please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Maarten
You did flash a kernel when you flashed the rom
Wayne Tech Nexus
Hey there
No, as in the first post, I have never flashed another kernel on the nexus. Neither did I flash a new radio.
I had not flashed anything yet when the problem started, I only unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone when I first got it (but it worked a long time without any problems)

Hi guys!
I've just bought a Note3 n9005 in Singapore, starting with ANdroid 4.4.2
At first it worked very well. But after some times I restart, an error appeared immediately after the phone is on "Unfortunately...process phone.android.com has stoppped". I choosed "OK" and it wont come again if I dont restart my phone,
But it's not only all my problems. In fact I had used a fake S-view although it doesnt work with kitkat (It's a gift from Phone store, It was only used to protect the phone like a flip-cover). And a new problem appear: sometimes my phone is in LAG Touchscreen does not work, I try to drag the Notification bar down, I can do it, and then the screen displays the "notification infomation", touching is unresponsive. Home button and 2 touch buttons Back+menu does not work too. It is just solved by turn off the screen using Power button, and turn on it again.
Can someone tell me the reason about my problems? And how to fix them?
Thank you!

What did you do exactly? did you root your phone and try to delete some stuff? use touchscreen test for your touchscreen to see

What is your phone build number? last resort is just get the stock firmware and reflash it with odin3.09. search it over the forum.

Yes, do factory reset first. Backup everything from kies since your device is not rooted. will see from there.

If that doesn't fix it, you may have touchscreen issues. Some Note's are affected by this and need replaced.
[Q] ls980zv7_01_to_zv8_13 update
My phone keeps telling me to install ls980zv7_01_to_zv8_13. Whenever I say yes, it reboots, but as far as I can tell the update doesn't install and after a few days the update notification pops up again.

Same problem
I'm having the exact same issue, and my phone is rooted too. I've done the update profile that it tells you do to prior to install, but it doesn't install. Phone reboots, upgrade animation starts then quickly just goes to the home screen and still running 4.2.2.
I haven't found any fix yet...

Still nothing. I even tried unrooting my phone to see if it was a root issue breaking the update. Even with everything back to stock the upgrade fails.... Frustrating! I'm starting to look at custom roms to get to 4.4.2 at this point as I can't find any fix.
You might have to revert to stock to lose root before the update can apply. Do you have a custom recovery installed?

No custom recovery. All I did was root it, I tried unrooting with no success. I may try doing a full factory reset, but not sure if I want to go through the pain of resetting it up again... :good:
If I get bored and try it sometime I'll post my results.

Brilliant! Took almost an hour to go from flashing the firmware, to applying all the granular updates (3 of them) to get to 4.4.2, but it did work. :good:
Doing a restore from backup & restore does not fix the issue just as a fyi to anyone else having this issue.
