Battery sucks.
Does anybody facing these problems?
Just 7 days old galaxy s4..n really..I repent on my purchase...I was waiting for full hd screen..thats y bought s4..really this is third class screen..n very disappointed. .note 2 screen is wayyyy better than s4..
return it
I have awesome battery life ~ 5 hours screen time. And nothing to complain about with the screen. Body heats up if you're charging. Same as any phone.
Maybe you have an app sucking your juice and processor cycles. Try a hard reset.

I too have no issues as such playing games for a while does make the phone heat little but still very happy with the device i came from note 2 only thing i like more in note 2 is battery as it was (3100 MAH) rest all S4
It's how you use your device.

Do u having pink tint issue,?
It's just you. It was widely regarded that the heating issue was due to the media scanner service going rogue
Sent from my Galaxy S too!
Very happy with the battery life and no issues with the screen bar purple smudge which is easily fixable. As for heat it does get a little warm when playing certain games (especially when charging at the same time) but no worse than S2 was when I first got that two years ago and they rectified that with software.
I don't regret buying it at all.

Hi,
So far,so good for me.
I am very happy with the phone and have no great urge to modify it with custom this or that.
Everything just works.
As for your battery, one of the main reasons I bought this phone, was that it was one of the few phones that you could swap out the battery.
So get yourself a spare
I saw most of users got pink tint inclyding me how to fix.its a hardware issue

but really its not so much a wide spread issue id contact the provider you got it from and explain your issues . The screen issue is worthy a replacement in my opinion. But I have heard issues with this more with the i9505 being its 70% of the s4s sold I believe the number is but good luck try to ignore the funny guys

If you can stomach the short battery life and mediocre camera on the S4, you should stick with it. Right now Samsung is deeply into the lag eliminating stuff so it is worth waiting a couple of weeks to see where things stand, but the S4 obviously has boatloads more extres much better screen, battery life, camera plus new sensors, IR blaster... currently coming with some fluidity compromises. Hold on to it until the dust is cleared.

True true! Il do just that. See what the common problems are
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
It is always worth waiting to see how much progress manufacturers can achieve, Samsung has the largest resources to deal with issues, so I'd expect responsiveness to improve vastly by June. The Nexus 4 should help easing the wait.
I switched from an N4. My main reasons for switching are:
1) The N4's camera was hopeless in low light, as The Verge put it, its better to 'just use your memory'.
2) I had a massive delay when receiving push notifications on WiFi and 3G. There was a Google support thread where ppl basically identified a faulty driver, which even now has not been fixed. Some ppl say they have no problem but I certainly did.
3) The S4 has 4G!
4) After the latest update the N4s battery life improved dramatically. But the S4 is better still, despite using it like a new phone it still surpasses the N4 in battery longevity.
Arguably the N4 is slightly smoother in some operation. When changing tabs on the S4 there is a slight delay before anything happens. But this can be solved by simply switching to Chrome.
The screen smearing on the S4 makes it seem more laggy but in reality its not.
Hope this helps you decide.
/edit Almost forgot to mention, I miss photosphere from the N4
The Galaxy S4 has a better camera by a mile then the Nexus 4 and the battery life is also a lot better. Plus you get a bigger screen, faster processor. Over all the S4 is a way better device.

Go for it! It's pretty much the best Android out.
-Powerful CPU/GPU (especially the Octa)
-Excellent Camera
-High memory variants PLUS MicroSD support upto 64GB
-5.0" HD1080P SAMOLED display with 440PPI
-Huge 2600mAh battery
-USB OTG
-Native support for almost all Audio and Video formats
-Multiview Multitasking
-Capacitive display usable with gloves
-A whole lot of sensors
-Wolfson DAC (in the Octa)
-IR Blaster
...the list goes on, it pretty much whipes the floor with the N4 in everything except updates, but this being a Samsung, it will get updates for atleast 20months like the GS2.
This thing is a lil machine
Just one word: better battery

I got my S4 on day of release, and have just, yesterday, swapped it back for a Note 2 (plus cash).
I had a Note 2 before the S4 and I liked the size of the screen etc.
I was impressed with the S4, but after a while I noticed a few things that actually annoyed me intensely with it.
Battery life is awful. It would last only around 5 hours, and that was not doing a lot, and would drop from 100% to around <10% in such a short time.
The heat issues the S4 have are incredible, especially when charging. I actually wondered if one day the thing would burst in to flames.
It would be uncomfortable to hold at times, especially on a warm day. It seemed to exacerbate the problem.
Another thing, the screen in direct sunlight. Even though it would be set at the highest brightness, it still would not be bright enough, and because it would get warm, it would dim the display more to "save it"
I guess that's AMOLED for ya.
The Note 2 I have now, I got it at around 12 pm yesterday, and after setting it all up how I like it, programs, themes etc, after around 5 hours unplugged, it had only used around 16%. That was after messing with it a lot. Had that been the S4 it would be way down almost out of action and I'd have to charge it again.
So, I'm sad to say, I only had the S4 for 23 days.....
The S4 looks and feels nice in the hand, has some nice features, but I have to say, the Note 2 does it for me due to battery life.
Welcome back

Thanks to this post. I'm sticking with my Note 2.
I believe a major cause of the shorter battery life is due to the 1080p screen, which is existent in other high end phones like htc one and Xperia z. The race for Bigger and higher resolution screens have put battery life to the catch up game. I recalled when I first got the note 1 the battery sucked real bad due to the large screen size albeit 720p.

"Another thing, the screen in direct sunlight. Even though it would be set at the highest brightness, it still would not be bright enough". This is exactly the same with GNote2. I live in Cannes, France, a really sunny place, and i always have problems with that. If i'm outside, and wanna check my phone, i have to hide in shadows like thief, even if the brightness iss on maximum.

FHD is not that big a difference. I can't tell at all post flashing custom kernels in fact. And surprisingly it looks much better than some FHD LCD phones IMO. And regular pen or pencil or even other stylus is not a replacement for S Pen - when it comes to pressure sensitivity, accuracy etc. - with it's wacom digitizer.
And 6.4 inch apparently - too large for my liking. Might as well get a tablet then. By the time it's out, N3 will be out anyway.
So iam Thinking of selling my note 2 and buy an s4, but after seeing the vast bad consumer reviews on both the german and uk amazon about the failure rates of the display and overheating issues its starting to worrying me.
Did you guys have any issues with your s4?
Should I wait for a less defective batch?
The version available to me is the l9505
People are going to have different opinions. Some will say fw will fix problems. When the Note 3 and/or the S5 come out, I know what I'm doing. I'm going to wait a little bit, not too long though and get a feel of what consumers have to say about the device before purchasing. To each their own.

Problems you read about on the Internet can happen, however, in the case of S4 some of the problems have been solved by Samsung with firmware updates.
Overheating seem to happen more often on i9500 than on i9505. I personally never had a problem with overheating.
I personally wouldn't wait.
Therr are 2 versions of s4.
1. I9500 - has heating problem due to the octa core processor.
2. I9505 - comparitively, gets lets heated up.
About the screen issue, most of it is caused due to not handling s4 properly or by heating issue.
Anyway, note 2 is an awesome device. I own one too. Apart from note 2, I own s4. I must say that s4 is way better than note 2. You can see significant performance with s4 along with the amazing software support from samsung.
The choice it yours. You should look at some reviews on youtube becuase there is nothing called as 'less defective batch of s4' unlike the defects found in htc one.

Yes..if you are using other devices like note 1 , s2 (or s3 may be) etc then you can buy s4 now and now you can get much price cut on s4
After all its your choice
if you come from the note 2 then my advice is to wait for the note 3
its the best choice for you and the note 2 is still a very capable device that runs anything currently out well

This thread is going towards comparison b/w S4 and Note 2. isn't it.?
BTW, I do have both devices S4 octa V & Note 2.
Both have different parameters. Better to use this thread for comparison -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334012
I have SGSIII E210K and SGS4 I9500. Both have heat issue. And i wouldn't say I9500 have exceptional heating. Nope. It's comparable to E210K, but may be a little more hot. But, hey, I9500 has more powerful CPU as well.
Thus heating level is normal if compare to other powerful devices. If u don't play 3D games and don't use live 3d wallpaper then I9500 won't heat much.
Note 2 (and Note 3 will as well) has bigger size and thus more efficient in heat dissipation. So, it's obviously will work better even with the same CPU. And has room for bigger battery as well.
If you are user of Note 2 then upgrade to Note 3 will be more pleasant than to S4 where u will have some trade-offs.
As a i9500 user I haven't experienced any reset due to camera or heating. Heating is moderate even when I am running benchmarks. Everything seems fine to me and performance is extraordinary! Proof that your phone actually blew up?
Odd... considering only a very small fraction of those that have "blown up" have ever been recorded and those that did made it to major electronics sites.
The most that has happened to an s4 has been the charge port frying and catching fire. Even then 95% of people are thinking in regards to voltage with the charger.

Going from the GS2 to the GS4 gets a "meh" from you? Really? The screen alone is a massive upgrade in every way. Different strokes I guess, but jeez.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
The screen is just about the only thing that is noticeably better between the two, IMO. Well I suppose if you already have LTE rolled out in your area, that would also be a welcomed improvement. I did have an iPhone 4s for a short time. For me, the jump from the g2 to the g4 would be like going from a 4s to a 5. Higher resolution and slightly larger screen and LTE vs 3g. Other than that, the differences are only slightly incremental and aren't a night and day difference that can be noticed immediately or even after a week of usage.
The stock battery on the s4 does seem to last longer than the stock s2.
I have galaxy s4.
I can add 200$ and get the new s5.

I switched from s4. On top of being lag free (as stated by italia0101) it's impressive the touch responsiveness. The back cover its a good choice: you can hold the phone more safely, the soft touch feeling is great. On the negative side, I don't like the usb cover.
To me it's worth each single cent!
I upgraded from an S4, and I like it. The screen is the major selling point for me, as is the fact that it's water proof. So far it seems to be faster than the S4, and I can't wait until we get AOSP ROMs on it. I haven't played around much with the camera yet, but a potentially better camera (from the reviews) was another reason I upgraded.
I don't agree with the back cover comment, to me the phone is like a bar of soap and slips out of my hand way too easily. I should be getting a Ringke slim cover for it today that should help. FWIW I have the white version, I read somewhere that it was more slippery than the black version but I don't know if that's true.
