Let me start off I'm running NAE Stock Rooted with SD Card Fix and HotSpot Mod. Recently my phone has been write protecting all my sd cards, (Sandisk Ultra 64gb, Samsung 32gb, and Sandisk Ultra 32gb) I put into my phone. It's getting a bit annoying now that I can't transfer any files to my external card. I try to formatting all the cards on the computer its saying its write protected. Does anyone know what causing the phone to write protect the sd cards and is there way to fix this problem?
Try folder mount from.the play store.

Thanks I'll see if this works and sticks. So far it let's me delete files and hope they don't come back . Before it would let me delete them then 10 minutes later they back.

It went back to write protection, it work for a few minutes the files come back after I delete them. Then files I did add would write then disappear a few minutes later. Anything else I can try?

Sounds like your SD card is no good. I had the same thing happen to me this weekend. I contacted Sandisk and mailed my card back to them yesterday for a replacement. I have only had mine since March. If you will go to their website their is a forum that discusses it and a place you can report it. Let me know if you have any problems.
Just curious what recovery were you running? I think you said you were stock rooted but no custom rom.

Its not just one SD card it's 3 sd cards that are getting write protected when I put them into my phone. My Sandisk ones I'll contact them about that and let them know the situation I'm having. For my Samsung one I don't know what to on that one. I'm running Philz Recovery on my phone.
Hi,
I have Omega v41 Lollipop rom. Whenever i delete anything on my sd card it appears again after the reboot. I am not sure what is causing this. Any suggestions?

Does it work if you delete it from your pc?
It might be a dead sd card otherwise.

Can you add files to it?
Is the card set up as being write protected?
I have tried pc formatted the card and also used the phone format method. 40gb worth of data keeps coming back in original format.

I guess it has reached it write limit.
You can try another card to see if the problem persists. If it does your phone is screwy. If it doesn't the SD card is cooked.
Yeah guys it looks like card is becoming faulty. Tried another sd card phone has formatted it fine and using it now. Its a shame how these card break so easily.

I had mine for 2 or 3 years and haven't had any problems.
Depends on what brand you get.
I've got a Samsung 64 GB sd card that I've formatted and put in my Note 3, the problem is that its not recognizing it, any help would be appreciated. The problem I'm having is when I insert the card in my phone and go under Storage all the way at the bottom the Mount SD Card is greyed out so I cannot do anything with it
Thanks
Is it being detected in your pc ?
Which file system did you use when you format your card ?
Try a different file system.

Check if you can mount it from recovery. If you can format it there and see.

I am at work so getting into recovery on a stock phone for me is impossible, when I get home I will try that, my phone is stock so not much i can do with it here.
Thanks
Stock touchwiz have issue with exfat ... At least that's what I remember reading somewhere... (havent used tw for quiet a while now ) Try fat32 (I know 4 gig limit is a pain ... But just to clear things up ... ) and see of it reads before flashing a recovery.
Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk
I will try that once I get home today and again thanks for all the replys.
Happy to help ... Keep me posted.

I just noticed this in your post above, you say 4GB limit, what did you mean by that?
In a Fat32 file system ... A single file can't exceed 4gb ... In case you want to transfer a 8gig rar file to your mem card ... You can't do it with fat32.

unfortunately no go so far, got home and reformatted several size SD cards but its not reading any of them. I had a few 8GB, a few 16GB and also the 64GB card I am trying to use but just no luck.
Taking it to a phone shop today to see if they clean the contacts on the phone itself and if that doesn't help I will return the phone.
Just happen lately that when I took picture with my original samsung camera app, it pop message as "unable to save file to sd card. default storage is changed to device". The phone can still read or write the SD card as normal, only camera app is giving the issue.
I have try clear the app data as well as re-format my SD card, but the issue remains.
Are you sure the phone can write to the SD card still? I noticed this same issue with my new GS7 (regular, not Edge) today. I tried taking pictures and had the same message you reported pop up. I can't write to the SD card at all. If I put the card in my computer, it'll write to the card; but I've tried moving files on the SD with Samsung's "My Files" app and the attempt to move fails. I've tried getting several other apps to write to the card and they fail too. In my searches I can find other people reporting problems with writing to the card, and that maybe there's a problem with Samsung's latest software version. Anyway, I've just had my phone for 2 days, so I'm surfing around looking for a good answer.
EDIT: My problem turned out to be a failing SD card. The computer (WIndows 10) created the illusion that the file was moving, but didn't actually do it. The SD card was no longer writable. I picked up a new 200 GB SD card and it is working great.
kind of similar issue here with my s7 edge, when i take pictures it sometimes saves to the device storage without any warning randomly. though my settings is save to sd card.
Same issue here, only the camera app has trouble writing to SD card, but it works perfectly fine otherwise.
It seems to have started happening since the latest system update (G935FXXU1APEQ).
I've already tried many things : clear camera app cache, wipe system cache, reformat SD card...
Same issue too
I have reformatted SD card, no change ...
I think it's related to http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/micro-sd-problem-t3340251

I finally found the courage to do a wipe data / factory reset, and you were right, it's the only thing that works after trying everything else I could. I can now fully enjoy my SD card through the camera !

Maybe a permissions issue on camera app.

I'm facing the same issue since upgrading firmware. My previous card became unreadable - even in my computer. Got a new SD card, and every other app is OK, except the camera. Seems ridiculous! Looking forward to a quick fix!
Guys I just updated to new firmware and still some problem. Anyone knows of any way to fix this?

FYI, I flashed to XSG, but no idea if worked with stock

I use the latest btu stock with root and it hasn't fixed the issue... Can someone confirm whether factory resetting fixes it if you had the issue and managed to solve?

It's been a long time since I've had a phone with a micro SD card slot. I got this phone today and popped in a Samsung Evo Select 64gb microSDXC UHS-I card when I put the sim card in. What do I have to do to make the phone see the card? I expected to see it when I sent into "storage" in settings but it only shows the internal storage.

Don't do that, just use a format SD card tool for your pc, like this one:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
Can you see the SD in the disk management section? ( Assuming you are on a Windows PC)

No. It's not listed in the disk management section.
I had the same problem with a similar Samsung SD. They sent a new one in about a week.
Got my replacement a couple days ago. Popped it in and blam it worked.

Hope it's not too much to ask if I can know how you returned it. I've started to have this issue myself recently, and I tried two sdcards and it seems that it reads it as corrupted

If the phone says the card is corrupted, just back up your data with a PC, put it back in the phone and format it trough the Storage menu. Happened with me and worked.
