[Q] Unlock Question - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I have a Rogers SGH-I337M, if you use a service like Cellunlocker.n*t to unlock my device, is that a permanent unlock regardless of what I do with a new ROM, or Factory Restore, ETC.?
Sorry for what must seem like a basic question - thanks in advance........

I don't think unlocking the SIM card and unlocking the boot loader is the same thing. Are referring to the boot loader?

I can't able to update my Arc S via PC Companian.

Hi frnds.
Im using DoomLord's kernal with AniKings Custom ROM.
If I want to go back original Stock SE my PC companian showing error.
pls help me.
It shows error because you must have locked bootloader to use PC Companion or SEUS.
You can go back to stock SE by:
-flashing a .ftf file
-locking your bootloader and using PC Companion or SEUS
Also you have to flash the stock wifi modules if using DooMKernel v15. Flash them before flashing stock SE, otherwise you don't have how to flash them.
How did you unlock your bootloader?

Just a simple question bro, if bootloader is unlocked, locking it will make things back to the same status as if it was never unlocked?!
No, DRM is still lost

No, there isn't.
Right, but not a big loss, TrackID and like function in the music player won't work anymore, I didn't ever used the like function, and the TrackID can be replaced by other apps like Shazam or SoundHound, or you can use the new TrackID(I found it in the ICS Themes ROM... that aniking thing). The only risk of unlocking bootloader is that if you brick your phone and can't repair it yourself at least to relock the bootloader, you won't be able to use your warranty.

if that's the only loss of unlocking the bootloader then it's not a big deal, but I don't understand why do people unlock their bootloader if they have a newly released device.
Anyways Thanks for the info, I think I will definitely stay away from unlocking that thing

Noob Question about Bootloader/Root on s4

FIrst of all thank You for taking the time to naswer
Second!
I have my phone rooted + CWM, am I ready to install Custom Roms? I know we need the bootloader unlocked in order to gain the ability to install custom roms, but I don't see any bootloader unlocking for the S4.
Have things changed? Or is the process of installing Clock work Basically two in 1, bootloader unlock + Custom Recovery install
I guess clarification is more of a better title
EDIT 1
While I'm at it I have a different question as well. If I run a custom Launcher (buzz) and freeze most bloatware the S4 stock has, is there any benefit of installing let's say Google Play Edtion Rom from the threads? I'm thinking mostly for ram purposes/battery.
If you are on the i337M you are good to go, bootloader is unlocked
Since you asked that question, would suggest you read up on the noob stickies before flashing and read the rom OP pages and scan the thread of the rom you want to flash.

galaxy s5 unlock and flash question

I recently had my S5 unlocked and I want to reflash it with a different stock rom.
I was told as long as I didn't mess with the GCF configuration it would not relock.
My question is will reflashing it lock the phone again?

Root Z956 (Grand X 4)

I've been scouring the forums for a root method for the ZTE Grand X 4 (Z956) but have been unable to find anything. Has anyone found a root method? Any suggestions? SRSRoot claims to be and to root it but I've tried with no success.
Ok so I managed to unlock the bootloader but how do I go about rooting it from there? I haven't seen any custom ROMs / rooted ROMs. Anyone got any suggestions?

What was the process you used to unlock the bootloader on this phone
Thanks
The bootloader can actually be unlocked through the developer options in the phone settings. There's a toggle switch in there.
Only temporary root at this time but you can follow my progress at https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/zte-grand-x-4-rooting-progress-t3546373

What toggle switch unlocks the bootloader? I switched the OEM toggle on but not sure if that's the correct one because i still can't seem to unlock the bootloader.

Yes the OEM switch. It disables the security features in place which lock the bootloader. It should present you a warning when you toggle it on stating this will disable security features on this device or something similar to that.
Here is a link for Madvane20 and his warp 7. He can get this phone rooted. Check it out. He has other work on the h1611. But he's doesn't have the z956. Can we help.https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72560392&postcount=246

SIM unlock and Boot Loader unlock questions

Hello there, I'm in the process of learning about the 6T for a purchase probably in March of next year. I'm watching prices on Swappa for both the unlocked and the T-Mobile variant. I'm currently using the OP5, so I'm no stranger to OP and I'm currently using T-Mobile as my service provider. I'm trying to figure out if the T-Mobile version needs to be SIM unlocked in order to boot loader unlock it? Or can I BL unlock while it is SIM locked? Basically, I don't care if I have the T-Mobile version because I only need/use a single SIM so it doesn't have to be the dual SIM. However I do want to be able to BL unlock it so I can flash TWRP and custom ROMs. I did some searching around and found info about T-Mobile SIM unlocking and BL unlocking, but nothing specifically answering my question. Thanks in advance.
I believe the short answer is no. Either you have to sim unlock it to unlock the bootloader or they have to sim unlock it so you can get the unlock token from OnePlus.

Official answer is no, you cannot unlock the bootloader with a locked SIM.
The XDA answer is yes of course we can unlock your bootloader with a locked SIM. Its been a work around since the device came out on T-Mobile or shortly thereafter.
All of this info and more info can be found in the guide I wrote here: [T-Mobile / Guide] - Full SIM and Bootloader Unlock + Root for locked devices
