im going to but a phone in 1 month but my current choice is nexus 4 but can anyone tell me about your or... nexus 4 performance? and if u can give me games fps? and should i worry about nexus 4 getting old because almost 1 year ago from this phones announce
and does games graphics change in devices (like dark night rises or nova 3 graphics is same on nexus 4 and htc one:?)
I use PA rom with Semaphore kernel and got 21500 on Antutu (not oc). I play now D-Day without any problem. Very smooth.

Performance is brilliant, the Adreno 320 really is a great GPU. You won't find any frame drops because normally it'll remain at almost 60FPS unless thermal throttling is having an effect. The Nexus 4 is nowhere near a year old, dunno where you got that from. It's been just over 7 months since announcement, 6 from the actual release. Certain apps may have 'Tegra 3' enhancements but they're unnoticeable and if you really want them there are some tweaks you can perform to get them. As for the games you mentioned I think the graphics should be the same across all devices.
and battery life in normal use: ever 2 days (3 hours 40m screen)
1 day 12 hours (5hrs screen)
thanks all im going to buy this anyway Google I/O is tommorow i realized if any nexus coming this year it most be tomorrow and thanks a lot!!!
oh and if i overclock it (if) how hot it gets? if u have done and does overclocking decrease phone life? if yes how much:?
i had sensation and i over clocked it to 1.8 for fun just a while my hands got bruned and turned red i redected speed to 1.5!
trust me, nexus 4 is the fastest phone you ever had. no lags at games, totally great multitasking, flawless playing of HD video..
Mine is so fricken fast that I have smoke coming out of it!
Hasn't been a year!! Was released in November

Nexus phones aren't usually announced at Google IO, normally there announced quite late in the year.

There's no need to over clock and I'm certain this phone will be faster than the sensation without over clock

I would get the N4, unless you can wait 6 months for the new one to release. nothing beats the $337 in US with tax and shipping.
thanks i saw a lot of movies in my phone
i will get the n4 ^_^
even if new nexus announce in 6 months i will sell it
anyway i had a note-n7000 it was dualcore 1.4 it was completely horrible even weren't able to load its own touchwis it lag a lot and also had a lot of problems while my sensation whitout over cloack(1.2) had no problem and were running n.o.v.a 3 and ashphalt whitout any problem or lags but just load some apps slowly
wow i also saw notification Led can change colur its too cool

Of course I can, good ROMs are all here
i mean best theres almsot mroe than 50 roms! and my net is limited and speed is 25kb! so can download one only
Paranoid Android is the best one, IMHO
Also the N4 is going to smoke your Sensation and Note together.
I went from the Galaxy S3 to Nexus 4 and the speed increase is amazing, double the Antutu score and feels way less laggy than my T999

Hey everyone, first off I want to apologize for creating a topic like this. I have been reading up on both phones through website, reviews and topics here on XDA. I just cant seem to make up my mind.
The one X has no removable battery when the battery is 1800Mah which is pathetic considering I am running a 1900Mah in my outdated HTC Sensation. This is a big downside to me; the S3 has a 2100Mah battery which is removable which is a big plus. I was looking at both battery life threads for the international versions and both seem good though. Could you guys possibly comment on this?
The cpu and gpu's of both phones are also interesting. The Exynos seems better then the Tegra 3 and coming from a S3 powered Sensation I do not want another laggy phone.. Please comment on this, possibly a link to another topic if it was made before.
Memory is not a big issue for me, 32gb is plenty.
I heard that the screen on the One X is better and easier on battery life, is this true?
Last thing is development; I love flashing new Roms and have been spoiled with the Sensations awesome developers. Does the international S3 have great developers and if so which Roms are the most popular?
Thanks a ton guys!
Samsung galaxy s3 is the best phone

Had US and international one x. Now have the international gs3. Aside from some camera features. The Gs3 is better. The multi taking issues on the One X kill that phone imho

I came from the one x international. SG3 is better, the battery on the one x was a huge deal breaker for me, was pretty bad.

If price isn't a concern, get the s3. Battery life is almost double that of the one x and the Cpu and gpu are faster. Combined with removable battery and sd card, it's a no brainer.
However if price is a concern, get the one x. It's about 20% cheaper. But it does have some serious problems with heat; the battery will frequently reach over 55 celcius and go into "overheat" status, potentially reducing the life of it.

Wow, that link has alleviated my fears of lackluster developer support thank you.
ratchetjaw you speak of multitasking, I understand that the S3 Lte has 2gb of ram, do you feel this is a necessary advantage? So much so that it is better to wait until the fall to purchase a new phone, when they have quad and 2gb?
Also, the lack of Lte on the international version; I myself never really cared for data speeds as 4g is fast enough for me. Do you deem the loss of this and a Gb of ram justifiable for the quad core Exynos?
Thanks!
Ask the same question in the one X forum, you will get a different response.
They are both excellent phones.
Considering software issues and heat are now resolved with the new base, the battery is also much better on the new kernel.
Software can be changed, the only things you can't change are the screen and the looks.
One X wins on both counts in my opinion, and I own both phones!
Plus the tegra 3 processor has a dedicated gaming development and is gonna get play station games shortly.
The new Google nexus 7 tablet is a tegra 3 processor, which means more tegra games are coming for sure. Also there probably is a good reason why Google are releasing their flagship tablet with nvidia cpu, versus the exynos.
In summary both are excellent phones but it comes down to personal preference and what looks visually more pleasing to your eyes.

Before the s3 got released I was going to get the one x but had a play with both phones in a shop and the s3 seamed to run better so got a s3
Hi I had the HTC one x for about 2 months I fought it was I great phone till I started to use it. The battery last me 6 hrs. I changed from iphone 4 to it. It was such a let down. Sold It and got a s3 best phone out of the 2. My s3 battery last me 15hrs. I stream and surf the net a lot fans the s3 last me 15hrs or if I not stream or surf it can last me about 18 hrs.
So just go for the s3 DON'T BUY HTC ONE X

Personnaly, the fact that the S3 has an external sdcard slot made almost the difference so I bought one. But I recently had to buy a one x to and it is much nicier than the s3.
Reviewing their battery life, they are almost equal, even while playing games.

He said he used search, but he still wanted to ask... this is not dev's thread or anything and he asked politely about personal opinions (as it's not correct to just start flaming other's devices, but personal opinions are always all right!) Don't be so rude.
About the phone matter, I was in the situation 3 weeks ago and finally got the S3 and now I'm really happy with it If you come from a Sensation like me you'll go mad with battery life of S3 And not the positive way trust me xD Let me explain to others, Sensation had a TERRIBLE battery indicator, 100% lasted for about 3 hours, then major drain until 70%... 2 hours... 50% in 20 minutes! and so on... good battery life, but horrible indications!
As soon as I got my S3 I was like, damn! this is draining like hell! (80% at 13:00 unpluged at 07:00 with maybe 35 minutes screen...) but if you do the numbers and extrapolate this to a hole day... it comes to 16h and 2.5h screen time even with the poor reception I had!
Good choice for me
Hey fellas,
I bought a Nexus S a year ago, and I'm pretty satisfied with the device, a bit lag now and than but it's still a great phone.
I am thinking about switching to the Nexus 4 mainly because of the big display and the quad-core processor.
So, does it worth it? My NS currently running 4.2 so it wont feel much different but the little lags I am experiencing.
and the NS was a great phone a year ago and I thought it will last for at least two years.. will it be the same?
Well that's it folks, have a great day
Yes
Yes
I came from a s3 and I think it's worth it lol I didn't like the plastic feel of s3 and also I hold onto my phones for a long time so I rather had quad over dual core for future proof also I'm on T-Mobile and n4 supports their soon to be band 4 lte also n4 will be the first to get every update so that's definitely a plus. Im loving the brightness of LCD over amoled I would have to max my s3 while walking around campus but with n4 I barely have to increase it above min. On a side note I sold my s3 and was using the g2 for about a month before I got n4 so that's why I probably love the n4 so much lol

It almost entirely depends on whether you have 300 or so quid to spend on a limited (but significant) increase in performance.
After all it doesn't *do* anything more than your current phone.

I've used Galaxy Note II for about 6 months and just lost it in a festival last night
So I use my old Galaxy S II for now. Do you guys think it will be worth to buy a Nexus 4. Is it like using an worse phone than ever?
Because the price of a Nexus 4 is much lower than a Note II.
I know that I will lose some advantages of a Note II such as better camera, larger screen, S-Pen and its features (which I hardly use them), better battery life.
I, however, like flashing custom roms and like the speed of AOSP roms which is way smoother than Touchwiz UX in a Note II. And of course the closed-source CPU of a Note II is not much suitable to do it.
So what do you guys think if I buy a Nexus 4 at this time. Or it would be better to wait for the new Nexus device.
Thx
Don't compare the devices based on price
The hardware will last for a long time, and it will keep receiving the latest updates too
I would sell the SII and put the money towards a Nexus 4*. The Nexus 5 (or 4.2 or whatever...) might come out, and you might hate it. It might also cost £600 pay as you go instead of being cheap like the N4
If you must have the new Nexus when it comes out, you can sell the Nexus 4 and put the money towards the new one
*This may be a little bias as I hate Samsung devices, but it doesn't take away from the fact that the Nexus 4 is great, and worth a lot more than £250
I traded my galaxy note 2 for a nexus 4 and haven't looked back. The phone is more smooth and bloat free. It's unlocked and has a better resolution of 320 ppi compared to the note 2s ppi. You get timely updates from Google and the support on this phone is unmatched. The function I miss is the s pen but you'll quickly forget all that when you start using this phone. Now for me I can't see myself using another phone other then the Nexus 4 because it's so fast and buttery smooth.

Have you noticed any lags on Nexus 4?
My old Note II had a little bit lag sometimes when scrolling through home screens or opening/closing the app drawer.
I have the note 1 and the charger port was going bad so I found a sweet deal on craiglist where this guy had just bought a N4 and he was to much an apple fan. So I scooped it up basically brand new for 300. I have had it for a week and I really do love the N4. It is so fast and easy to root. It will be getting updates for a while as well. I was always flashing AOSP roms on my note so why not just have and AOSP phone.
The only con I have found that I am getting over quickly is the screen size. I really did like the larger screen. However the N4 is not exactly a small phone either but compared to the note everything seems small. That is really the only con I have so far.
I think if your into flashing roms or like AOSP then the N4 is a no brainer.
OK. Just knows the smoothness
Let's talk about a problem (high PRS value)
Is it obviously noticeable for daily usage? I read about the problem and it makes me hesitate.

Hi,
As far as N4 is concerned, I want to tell you that I am using this phone from last 1 month & it's performance is superb.
Also if you will wait for N5, it might not come as cheap as its predecessor (N4). N4 has hardware that will not be outdated for at least 2 years.
So the choice is yours....!! :good:

The Galaxy was quite popular and it still has much life left. That's why Samsung decided to create a successor...the Galaxy S3.
I agree that you shouldn't compare phones based on it's price. Just so you know when Google sells the phone they don't make a profit off of it. They lose money rather than gain.

you can´t say that, that´s a lie.
2 hours of screentime on a smartphone on which you can do ANYTHING are absolute CRAP
2 hours of screentime, on a 24 hours day, means that you won´t go from morning till evening.
period.
I just got my n4 last week, and I´m really angry because no one mentions that the battery is CRAP.
the phone is absolutely great, but the battery, as I might have already mentioned, is CRAP.
If you interested in getting Latest updates quickly and great ROM support, just get it.
Else HTC one and S4 would be better options...
Its always worth it as long as the phone was newly released

You can't say that that's a lie either (see what I did there? )
He's speaking from his own experiences and you have no way of conclusively proving that he's lying and hasn't managed a day with 2 hours of screen on time. For some people the battery life will be more than adequate (e.g. for myself). For others it'll be a huge disappointment (e.g. for you). Try out different kernels and you may be able to improve on what you're currently getting. I, for one, managed 17 hours with 2hrs 40 minutes of screen on time (playing Real Racing 3, that thing is addictive) before the phone reached 10% battery. This was with brightness at 100% and the kernel that comes with PA3+.

Of course, I also don't have any 'battery saver app that kills every single feature of this phone in order to go through the day.
And there's nothing unrealistic in that.

If 18-20 hours with 2.5-3 hours screen on time is not phenomenal for today's phones, please explain to me what is.
For the record no one is acting like a "fan boy", I'm not saying that the Nexus 4 is the best phone in the world or that other phones suck, all I am saying is that it has great battery life based on my experience comparing it to multiple Android phones. Every phone I have ever owned did not get this kind of battery life.
I want to buy a new phone , my droid 3 is too outdated but is a damn good phone .
I really cant decide between s2 and nexus 4 .
I like the specs on the nexus 4 , 2 gb ram , procesor ( but i really do not need them that high ) , i hate that i can not pull out the battery , that really sucks and also that is very fragile . I also heard that the battery sucks big way ( in different forums ) . I will just surf , text a lot , not gaming much , but it will pass through a day ?
On the other hand i like the s2 , 1 gb ram , 1.2 dual core , removable battery , micro sd . And i heard that it really has one of the best batteries out there . But the s2 will not get key lime pie ( im sure that it will be a rom for that so no problem there )
I would really chose the nexus 4 just for key lime pie but i just need a damn good battery to make sure to go through one day of medium usage .
Shall i just get a custom rom for the s2 and buy it ? or the nexus 4 ?
Nexus for sure... Going top buy it when I come home from my holiday s2 ain't that special ;D

Without a doubt the Nexus 4. With how many ways there is to charge a phone, a non removable battery isn't a big deal these days. If it truly is dead and out of warrenty, it can be removed and replaced. I consistently hit 4.5hrs screen on time browsing the web and using small simple apps like weatherbug and flipboard. mind you, this is on wifi and i always have excellent signal. Using Franco M3 and the latest Carbon nightly. The Nexus 4 will run circles around the SII and will also have a much longer life before it truly becomes sluggish and outdated. I think it would be a much more sound investment. If you are extremely clumsy and constantly drop your phones on tile and concrete, then it might not be a good idea. Otherwise, theres no competition.
I totally agree... Nexus is much better in many ways... I think you'll feel more comfortable with the n4 .. But hey that's just my opinion .. If you want the s2 and personally think it's a better device... Roll with it

Please don't insult N4 by comparing it with S2.
S2 doesn't even stand with N4.
Go for Nexus 4.:good:
Fine. I will go for the nexus 4 then, the 16 gb. And i'll buy I bumper or something, I am not clumsy but also not a risky person. I really do not use my phone a lot, just 2,5 hrs screen and no 3g , like never, so I think it would stand for a day. Changing the kernel I think it will be a big deal for me atm.
You guys think it will get Key Lime Pie ( I mean it is a google phone and the specs kick ass ) ?
And does those 3 virtual buttons get in your way sometimes? I mean exiting games by mistake or whatever.
I heard that on 4.1.2 the battery sucks but in 4.2.2 the battery life gets improved, nvm, I will surely root it. Lol

You might want to read up a bit on Nexus devices man. It will definitely get KLP since it's a Nexus, you'll be officially supported by Google for a pretty long time (especially so on the N4 given its RAM + SoC). You can't use 4.1.2 on the Nexus 4 so I don't know what you mean about the battery sucking on 4.1.2 but I can easily get 2.5 hours of screen on time without charging purely by lowering brightness. As for the softkeys you can reduce their size or remove them completely using pretty much any custom ROM (and I think some apps/a build.prop tweak can remove them on stock rooted) so you shouldn't worry about that. There's absolutely no comparison here, the N4 just wins outright unless you absolutely need more than 16GB of storage.

I totally agree

My friend has an S2 and its sooo laggy. S3 is already too laggy for my taste. And specs do matter. Day to day usage, I cannot image living without 2gb of ram. Idling already uses almost 800mb of ram.
If not nexus..S4 or HTC one.. It's between those 3, and the price on n4 is really great

Yesterday I bought a N4 coming from a SII with amazing Neat rom which gives a huge boost to SII. But I can definetely say N4 gives a waaaay better experience. And it is so cheap compared to others smartphone
The S3 and the Nexus 4 is about the same size. Length and width. The S4 is just a bit bigger. I know from the specs and I did a side by side comparison using my friend's phones.

I've had both of these devices.. First, build quality:
The galaxy s2 is a tank, but it DOES feel cheap.
The nexus 4 is very beautiful and very premium. I've
L personally dropped mine many times onto concrete and other hard surfaces and it's recovered without a scratch.
Battery life:
I had the galaxy S2, Wifi only, underclocked to 800mhz, screen so dim you could only see it indoors, I usually hit 4hrs screen on time.
Nexus 4, wifi only, 1.1ghz underclocked, 50% brightness (bright enough to see on a sunny day), 5/6 hrs screen on time.
Get a nexus 4, use Box, Google music (micro sd alternative), get a custom ROM and AKFAUX kernel. You seriously won't regret it. You don't need a removable battery, because when you get off stock, this phone becomes an eco-warrior!

Hi guys!I gotta one question about performance for games on SGS 2 and SGS 3 for those people who had both phones.
Is Samsung Galaxy S 3 so much better and faster when running new and HD games?
Which phone uses more RAM?
I gotta feeling that SGS 2 is more stable because of RAM...Is that true?
P.S I am going to buy one of those 2 phones and I love playing games,so that is the reason I posted this question.
Hey there.I'm not a HD Games player but I'm a former S2 user and actual S3 user and I can say the S3 is much better. Even with 4.3 update ram ussage is good,no lag.

Agree with poster above.
Btw 4.3 update made even bigger difference between those two. SGS3 got 50% bump in performance and know one thing: unused RAM is wasted RAM. That means,no matter how full your RAM is,phone should be always stable. I always have to 100 mb free when multitasking and phone is as fast as it should be (+6 and more apps).
Galaxy S3 all the ways.
One question though, why do you and buy a phone which is kind of dead already? I don't deny the fact that s2 was a great phone but it's too old now. Go for a s3, it has better dev support
I hav got both S2 and S3..but ill say one thing abt hd gaming, if u planning for playing games then go for s3 as because it has more better config than s2..but on s2, asphalt 8 runs smooth as butter and better than s3.. but with other games such as gta san andreas, zero hour, dead trigger, etc, s3 performs much better..so go for s3.
